Ms. Brenda Elizabeth Haney Grogan (M)

Ms. Brenda Elizabeth Haney Grogan, age 67, of Summerville, GA, died Sunday, August 7, 2016, at her residence.
 
Ms. Grogan was born November 23, 1948, in Valley Head, AL, daughter of the late James Louise Haney Sr. and Betty Jo Wofford Haney.  She was a member of the Spring Creek Baptist Church and the American Legion Ladies' Auxiliary.  Prior to her retirement, she was employed with Wal-Mart.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Louis Haney Jr. and David Haney; and a sister, Pam Haney.
 
Ms. Grogan is survived by her sons, Richie Willingham and Billy Willingham; daughters and sons-in-law, Dena and Jason Teems, Bree and Tracy Evans, and Shannon and Jeff Ball; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
 
Funeral services for Ms. Grogan will be held at 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 10, 2016, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Holman, Rev. Alvin Grogan, and Bro. Stacy Evans officiating. Interment will follow in the AMI Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Mikey Willingham, David Wood, Joey Jennings, Ronnie Cordle, Donnie Hollingsworth, and James "Peanut" Grogan.  Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Spring Creek Baptist Church, all of her former Wal-Mart co-workers, Charles Edward "Little Willie" Johnson, Jr., Carolyn Williams, Linda Starkey, and the staff of Mount Berry Hospice.
 
Ms. Grogan will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 9, 2016.

Mrs. Johnnie Sue Porter, age 46 of Summerville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at her residence.

 

Mrs. Porter was born in Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia on October 13, 1969, daughter of Annie Bell Shell and the late Thomas William Painter.  She was a homemaker, devoted mother and wife.

 

Mrs. Porter is survived by her husband, Dennis E. Porter; children, Timmy Lee Glenn, Jr., Mark Anthony Glenn and Stephanie Ann Glenn; mother, Ann Shell; brothers, Thomas Jeffery and Angela Painter and Michael Anthony and Jennifer Painter; sisters, Tina Marie Cohely, Melissa Diane Addison, Brenda Bramlett and Tammy Kay Smith; 6 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Services for Mrs. Porter will be held Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 4:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Norton officiating.  Interment will follow in the Wooten Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers will be Joey Rector, Dylan Star, Dakota Schrader, Corey Smith, Carl Cohely and Frankie Addison.

Mr. Wiley Adell Adams, age 80, of Barnwell, SC, formerly of Summerville, GA, died Thursday, July 28, 2016.
 
Mr. Adams was born August 16, 1935, son of John and Gertrude Adams.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Bennie Adams, Dewey Adams, and John Adams; sons, Wiley Jr. Adams I,  Odell Adams; and a daughter, Sara Adams.
 
Mr. Adams is survived by his wife, Helen Lawrence Adams; sons and daughters-in-law, Rickey and Chasity Adams of Owensburg, KY, Wiley Jr. and Jessie Adams of Summerville, GA, Michael and Melody Adams of Lyerly, GA, Larry and Janet Adams of Rome, GA, Terry Adams of Summerville, GA; daughters, Linda Lawrence of Summerville, GA, Mary Almond of Summerville, GA, Gloria Adams of Rome, GA, Teresa Adams of Summerville, GA; sisters, Willie Mae Adams of Cleveland, OH, Sara Adams of Summerville, GA; a brother, Fred Adams of Armuchee, GA; and sister-in-law, Pearl Lawrence.

Mrs. Patsy Faye Collins Perry Obit (C) Revised

Mrs. Patsy Faye Collins Perry, 77 of the Pennville Community, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2016 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.

 

Mrs. Perry was born in Centre, AL on March 3, 1939, daughter of the late Walter Roy King and Una Faye Morrison King.  She was a member of the Pennville Baptist Church, the Best Silver Club and prior to retirement, was employed with Best Manufacturing and Mt. Vernon Mills.  Mrs. Perry loved to sing, garden and was an avid animal lover.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Perry.

 

Mrs. Perry is survived by her sons, William “Bill” Collins and Rex Collins; daughter and son-in-law, Aleah and Douglas Joos; honorary daughter, Annalisa Schram Hughes; stepchildren, John Perry and “Sunshine”; grandchildren, DJ (Jackie) Joos, Jr, Tray Bruno and Erica Ages; great grandchildren, Logan Joos and Lilly Joos; Speical Friend, Bob Evans; special Cousins, Jackie Chandler and Shirley Morrison; and a number of additional cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Frances Delores Hogue Gilreath, age 78, of Menlo, GA, died Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at Kindred Hospital in Rome, GA.
 
Mrs. Gilreath was born December 9, 1937, in Trion, GA daughter of the late Dean and Emma Ovelle Freeman.  She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church, and prior to her retirement, she worked as Certified Nursing Assistant at the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John "Shorty" Hogue; second husband, Grady Gilreath; a brother, Carl Wayne Hughes, Sr.; and son-in-law, Sam Maloney.
 
Mrs. Gilreath is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Sean Hogue, Shane and Ava Hogue, and Bradley Hogue; daughters and sons-in-law, Carol Maloney, Johna and Mike Burrage, Celenia Kirby, Malinda and Joe Brown, Brandy and Wade Selfors; a brother, Steve Wells; sisters, Lynda Bomar and Anne Brown; 11 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bertha Mae Rosson, age 95, of Summerville, GA, died Monday, August 1, 2016, at her residence.
 
Mrs. Rosson was born June 2, 1921, in Round Mountain, AL, daughter of the late Walter Agustia and Addie Davis Spraggins.  She was a homemaker and a prayer warrior.  She was a member of the United By Faith Baptist Church.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Rev. G.W. "Dub" Rosson; daughter, Rachel Watkins Davis; daughter-in-law, Barbara Rosson; and son-in-law, Robert Tidmore.
 
Mrs. Rosson is survived by her son, Earnest Boyd "Buddy" Rosson; daughters and son-in-law, Georgia Tidmore, Betty and Billy Ward; sisters, Sue Millican and Jewel Smith, 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Mickey Randell "Rambo" Hughes, age 52, of Summerville, GA, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016.  Mr. Hughes was born on November 9, 1963 in Summerville, GA.  He was an Auto Body Repair Technician being employed with Bert's Body Shop.  Mr. Hughes was a member of Alpine Lodge and enjoyed deer hunting.  Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bessie and Frank Ledford and Harold and Rosa Floyd.
  

Mr. Hughes is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Amanda Burke;  daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Bruce Nadu;  parents, Mickey and Joyce Hughes;  and grandchildren;  Kobe Nadu, Kaya Nadu, Aubrey Burke, Addie Burke, and Jagger Burke.

 

Graveside and Interment Services for Mr. Hughes will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Brandon Bishop officiating and Alpine Lodge will be conducting Masonic Graveside Rites.

Mrs. Melba Reece Short, age 83 , of Lyerly, GA, passed away Sunday Morning July 31, 2016, at her residence.  Mrs. Short was born November 1, 1932, in Lyerly, GA, the Oakhill Community, the daughter of the late George Paul Reece, SR and Mattie Lou Groce Reece.  Mrs. Short had lived all her life in the Lyerly, Ga area, was a beautician for over 44 years working for various beauty shops in the Summerville area, before opening her own beauty shop in Lyerly, GA, she was Methodist by faith, and was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Len Curtis (L.C.) Short, brothers, George Paul “Square” Reece, JR, William Leonard Reece, and Jim Earl Reece.
 
Mrs. Short is survived by her children, Michael Len “Mike” and Jayne Short, Connie Luann Short, grandson, William Michael “Will” Short and several nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral service will  be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday August 2, 2016 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Mason officiating with interment in the Lyerly Cemetey.
