Mr. Jerry Wayne “Tiger” Tucker Obit (M)

Mr. Jerry Wayne "Tiger" Tucker, age 71, of Rock Spring, GA, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 29, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family.

Jerry was born November 14, 1944, in Summerville, GA, son of Elbert J. "Bert" Tucker, a Chattooga County Sheriff's Deputy, and Bonnie Inez Tucker, a homemaker.  In March of 1966, he took his oath to protect and serve with the Georgia State Patrol.  Known as "Tiger" amongst his fellow Troopers, Jerry served for 32 years and retired on February 15, 1998.  He then worked as a security officer with Hutcheson Medical Center for an additional 15 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert J. "Bert" Tucker and Bonnie Inez Tucker.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Delores Tucker; his brother, retired Georgia State Trooper Dennis Tucker and his wife, June; children, Charles, Richard, Tommy and wife Stacie, Tyra and her husband, David.  Jerry was also loved by his grandchildren, Stephanie, Josh, Jessica, Cheyenne, Amie, and Luke; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Corbin, Hunter, and Auden.

Funeral services for Mr. Tucker will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 2, 2016, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Tom Dupree officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.  The Georgia State Patrol Honor Guard will serve as Active Pallbearers.  All current and retired public safety personnel will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

Mr. Tucker will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 1, 2016.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the Walker County Animal Shelter or the Al Milard Empty Stocking Fund.

Mrs. Emma Grace Houser Obit (M)

Mrs.  Emma Grace Houser, age 89, of Glencoe, AL (formerly of Trion, GA) died Saturday, February 27, 2016 at her residence.

Mrs. Houser was born May 24, 1926, in Trion, GA, the daughter of the late Jasper Allen Brown and Georgia Ann Bandy Brown.  She was formerly employed at Summerville Cotton Mill.  Mrs. Houser was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church.  Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel Houser.`

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Wayne Craig and Denise and Harlan Campbell; grandchildren, Shannon Barron, Tim Campbell, Doug Campbell, and Cindy Dye; seven Great-grandchildren; and two Great -great -grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. (EST) on Tuesday, March,1,  2016 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Craig and Bro. Christopher Barron officiating.  Burial will follow in Littlejohn Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be the Nephews.

Mrs. Houser will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 11:00 a. m. (EST) until the service hour on Tuesday.

Mrs. Mary (Jackie) Busbin Obit (M)

Mrs. Mary (Jackie) Busbin, age 78, of Lyerly, GA, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2016, in the Oakview Nursing and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Busbin was born March 6, 1937, in Menlo, GA, the daughter of the late Hoyt Martin Sr. and Louise Spraggin Martin.  She attended the Lyerly United Methodist Church and was retired from Mohawk.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the late Donald Busbin.

Survivors include her children, Donna and Ray Williams, Tommy and Linda Busbin, Terry and Teresa Busbin;  brother and sister-in-law, Hoyt and Dorothy Martin, Jr.; 4  grandchildren, Tracey Reed, Tammy Williams Hedgecoth, Angela Ozment, Brena Busbin;  6 great-grandchildren, Sierrra Cordell, Heather Reed, Seth Williams, Martin Hedgecoth, Logan Reed, Avery Nelson; and 1 great-great-grandchild, Lilly Reed.

Funeral service will be held 3:00p.m., Monday February 29, 2016 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Jennings officiating with interment in the Johnson Cemetery.

Mr. Michael L. Treadaway Obit (ER)

Mr. Michael L. Treadaway, age 68, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday at his residence, following an illness.  A Chattooga County native, He was born to the late Robert G. and Mary Lowry Treadaway on May 17, 1947.  Mr. Treadaway was Baptist by Faith and was retired School Teacher from Menlo School after 30 years of service.

Surviving are daughter, Wendy Benton of Hope Mills, North Carolina; sister, Sandra Gilbreath of Summerville; grandchildren, Cody Benton, Caleb Benton, Christopher Benton, and Caralyn Benton; nephew, Brian Gilbreath.

Memorial service will be held Monday, February 29th, @ 2:30 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home.  The Family will receive friends Monday from 1:30 P.M. until the hour of service also at the Funeral Home.

Mr. Thomas Middleton Obit (M)

Mr. Thomas Jefferson Middleton, age 63, of Summerville, GA, died Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at his residence.

Mr. Middleton was born October 23, 1952, in Summerville, GA, son of Ruby Pauline Williamson Middleton and the late Homer Conner Middleton.  He was a member of the North Summerville Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Bigelow – Sanford Carpet Mill.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Homer Lamar Middleton and Stephen Luther Middleton.

Mr. Middleton is survived by his wife, Phyllis Ann Wilson Middleton; sons and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Jennifer Middleton, Kevin Middleton; daughters and son-in-law, Kari and Jimmy Lowe, Amy Pursley; mother, Ruby Pauline Middleton; brother and sisters-in-law, Michael and Faye Middleton, Teresa Middleton, and Sheryl Middleton; grandchildren, Brandon Owenby, Thomas Middleton III, Drew Middleton, Ryan Wheeler, Destiny Lowe, Austin Middleton, Brooklyn Lowe, Ansley Lowe, Nate Middleton, and Philip Middleton.

Miss. Tammy Michele Henning, age 43, of Summerville, GA, passed away Monday February 22, 2016, at her residence. 
 
Miss. Henning was born November 3, 1972, in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of Ronald Edward and Delores Mickley Henning. She was employed with Roper Corp. a member of the Catholic Church,  other than her parents she was preceded in death by grandparents, Tom and Mary Dempsey, Leonard and Regina Carter, uncle, Melvin Mickley.
 
Survivors include aunt  and uncle, Lynn and Sammy  Lee,  brothers, Thomas Grady Henning and April Duton, Edward Henning and Tracey, her best friends, Gizmo, Kelly, Rosie, Spot, Annie, Angel, Sophia and a number of nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral service will be  held 4:00 p.m. Wednesday February 24, 2016, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel, with interment to follow in the Greenhills Memory Garden.

Mr. Terry Wayne Crowe Obit (M)

Mr. Terry Wayne Crowe, age 45, of LaFayette, GA, died Friday, February 19, 2016, at his residence.

Mr. Crowe was born September 2, 1970, in Trion, GA, son of Jearline Barnett Johnston and the late Joe L. Crowe.  He was formerly employed with Mount Vernon Mills.

Mr. Crowe is survived by his wife, Patricia McNeese Crowe; sons, Lamar Crowe and Chris Crowe; a brother, Steven Crowe; and a sister, Gail Shaw.

Funeral services for Mr. Crowe will be held at 4:00 P.M. Monday, February 22, 2016, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Wright and Rev. Ken Westmoreland officiating.  Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Lamar Crowe, Chris Crowe, Jay Ledford, Ricky Beason, Eric Lipps, and Bradley Clayton.  Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Shaw, Jeremy Crowe, and Steven Crowe.

Miss. Mary Ann Tapp Obit (M)

Miss. Mary Ann Tapp, age 56, of Summerville, GA, passed away Friday morning, February 19, 2016, in an automobile accident.

Miss. Tapp was born January 13, 1960, in Lafayette, GA, the daughter of the late Sam and Betty Grace Brown Tapp. She was a member of the Perennial Springs Baptist Church.  Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her grandparents, George William and Fannie Beatrice Brown.

Survivors include sisters, Margaret Lee Tapp, Barbara and Phillip Stephenson, aunts, Foye Johnson, Catherine Burney, Shirley Tapp; and a niece, Marie Tapp.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 21, 2016 from Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dean Tapp officiating with interment in the Littlejohn Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Willie E. Tapp, James Tapp, Roger Tapp, David Tapp, Michael Tapp, and Caleb Weaver.

Mr. Harold Loyd Cordell Obit (M)

Mr. Harold Loyd Cordell, age 77, of Summerville, GA, died Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Cordell was born August 25, 1938, son of the late A. W. and Yulie Cordell.  He was a member and deacon of the Berryton Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Mohawk.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and 3 brothers.

Mr. Cordell is survived by his wife, Lorene Williamson Cordell; sons, Eugene Cordell, Eddie Cordell, James Cordell; step-sons, Terry (Teresa) Ray, Jeff Ray; step-daughter, Diane (Alvin) Bullard; brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Alice Cordell; sisters and brothers-in-law, Madeline Lovett, Juanita and Thomas Smith, Ruth and Arnold Jones, Sarah Shaw, Gayle and Everette Harp; and 8 grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Cordell will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 20, 2016, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mickey Skates and Rev. Malcom Harris officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Daryl Huskey, Josh Bryan, Chad Barnes, Waymon Blansit, Wayne Blansit, and Fred Burke.

Mr. James Ralph Cooper Obit (M)

Mr. James "Ralph" Cooper, age 94, of LaFayette, GA, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at Hospice Atlanta.
 
Mr. Cooper was born May 27, 1921, in Catlett, GA, son of the late William Edgar and Ethel Mae Bell Cooper.  Mr. Cooper enlisted and served honorably in the United States Navy during World War II.  During this time, he served as a Seaman First Class for three years aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise, the most decorated ship of World War II, and was engaged in several conflicts including the Battle of Midway.  Mr. Cooper was retired from the United States Postal Service where he worked as a rural route mail carrier.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jo Lane Cooper.
 
Mr. Cooper is survived by his daughters, Vonda Carter of Knoxville, TN, Terran Cooper of Atlanta, GA; his loving and devoted son-in-law, Peter Reticker of Atlanta, GA; 3 granddaughters; and 2 great-granddaughters.
 
Graveside and interment services for Mr. Cooper will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 18, 2016, from the LaFayette Memory Gardens with Chaplain Alan Roof and Rev. George Palmer officiating.
