Mr. Raymond Thomas Pettyjohn obit (C)

Mr. Raymond Thomas “Pete” Pettyjohn, age 69 of Summerville, GA passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015 in Memorial Hospital.  Mr. Pettyjohn was born August 28, 1946 in LaFayette, GA.  He was a Chemical Engineer with General Chemical Corp, was a member of the Trion United Methodist Church, Trion Lodge #160 F&AM, on the Board of Directors of the Greenwood Foundation, loved GA and Trion Football, and Golf.  He coached Rec League midget football, junior high football having one year with an 11-0 season.  He loved that his grandchildren were involved in sports.

Mr. Pettyjohn was preceded in death by his father and mother, Raymond Pershing and Dorothy Ruth Bowman Pettyjohn.

Mr. Pettyjohn is survived by his wife, Sandra Pettyjohn; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Clay Martin; grandchildren, Catie Martin and Jack Martin; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dale and Todd Morrissey.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 15, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. from the Trion United Methodist Church with Rev. Skip Mitchell and Art Graves officiating.  Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery with Rev. David Autry and Rev. Jennifer Andone presiding. 

Mr. Pettyjohn will lie-in-state Saturday, November 14, 2015 at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m.  Mr. Pettyjohn will also lie-in-state at the church on Sunday from 1:30 – 2:00 p.m.  Pallbearers will be Mike Boyle, Randy Hill, Doug Mahan, Cliff Martin, Wayne Nichols, Wayne “Bo” Parker, Mike Stoker, Mike Valdez, and Richard Westbrook   Honorary Pallbearers will be Trion Lodge #160 F&AM and the Hope SS class.

Mrs. Betty Jo Hendrix obit (M)

Mrs. Betty Jo Hendrix, age 79, of Summerville, GA, died Thursday, November 12, 2015, at Redmond Regional Medical Center. 

Mrs. Hendrix was born March 27, 1936, in Summerville, GA, daughter of the late A.L. and Mary Lou Nelson Alred.  She was a homemaker.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Martin "Ted" Hendrix; siblings, Gordon Alred, Shelby Alred, Arthur Alred, Elliott Alred, James Alred, Richard Alred, Dorothy Hughes, Frances Glenn, Margaret Warren, and Mary Sue Vernon. 

Mrs. Hendrix is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Michael Hegwood; brothers, Eugene Alred and Earl Alred; and a granddaughter, Emily Hegwood. 

Funeral services for Mrs. Hendrix will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 15, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Danny Harkins officiating.  Interment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens.  Pallbearers will be David Alred, Phillip Alred, Jack Biggers, Lonnie Smith, Charles Oliver, and Byron Hegwood.

Mrs. Nellie Faye Willingham obit (C)

Mrs. Nellie Faye Willingham, age 83 of Summerville, GA passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Floyd Medical Center.  Mrs. Willingham was born September 12, 1932 in Henagar, AL.  She was a member of the Pennville Gospel Tabernacle.

   Mrs. Willingham was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Willingham; son, David Willingham; grandchild, Sandra Burrage; Bernice Day, Hoyt Copeland, Dewey Copeland, J. R. Copeland, and Jewel Rape.

   Mrs. Willingham is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Sheila Willingham; daughters and son-in-law, Wanda and John England, Sandra Genise Burrage, and Candi Willingham; grandchildren, Ginger Faulkner and Jabo Burrage; six great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren; adopted granddaughter, Teresa Wood; sister, Audrey Croft.

   Funeral services will be held Friday, November 13, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. John Mann, Rev. Gary Howell, and Rev. Rickey Biddle officiating.  Interment will follow in the AMI Cemetery.

Mr. John Frank Mason Jr. obit (m)

Mr. John Frank "J.F." Mason, Jr., age 88, of Gaylesville, AL, died Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at his residence. 

Mr. Mason was born March 4, 1927, in Round Mountain, AL, son of the late John James Franklin Mason and Ozzie Dale Edgeworth Mason.  He was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, worked as a heavy equipment operator with C.W. Matthews.  Mr. Mason was also a veteran of the United States Army, having served in World War II.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Mason, and several brothers and sisters. 

Mr. Mason is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny and Annie Mason, Robert and Heidi Mason; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and David Clowdis, Karen and Johnny Hartline, Stacey and Carl Scarisbrick; sisters, Agnes Gougar and Margie Daniel; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great- grand children. 

Funeral services for Mr. Mason will be held at 12:00 Noon (E.S.T.) Friday, November 13, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brian Williams and Rev. Sanford DeBerry officiating.  Interment will follow in the Unity Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Hayden Williams, Hunter Williams, Coleton Reed, Nicholas Reed, Jonathan Mason, Aaron Mason, Blake Lyon, Trace Williams, Matt Williams, Austin Hartline, and Jacob Hartline.  Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Margaret Essie Gay Phillips Wilbanks Obit (C)

Mrs. Margaret Essie Gay Phillips Wilbanks, age 83, of Trion, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at her residence.

Mrs. Wilbanks was born in Summerville, Georgia on October 14, 1932, daughter of the late Alfred “Ted” Phillips and Willie Etta Wilson Phillips.  She was a loving mother and grandmother and loved being with her family.  She read the Bible daily and liked to work word puzzles.  Mrs. Wilbanks was a member of the Waterville Baptist Church, and prior to retirement was employed with the Glove Mill and also with Reigel Textile.  Mrs. Wilbanks was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Herman “Bud” Wilbanks on May 14, 2015; a son, James Ray Wilbanks, great grandson, Grant Taylor, brother, Alfred Phillips and sisters, Mary Woody and Barbara Phillips.

Mrs. Wilbanks is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Wanda Wilbanks; daughters and son-in-law, Linda and Stan Rosser and Sheila Wilbanks; grandchildren, Michelle and DJ Driver, Mandy and Todd Taylor, Jr. and Ashley Wilbanks, Zachary and Christin Rosser and Valerie Rosser; great grandchildren, Maverik Powell, Morgan Driver, Kaylee Driver, Oakley Taylor and Ridge Wilbanks; sisters and brother-in-law, Marlene and Winston Renfore,  and Betty Brinkley; sister-in-law and brother-n-law, Nellie and Earl Wilbanks, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Wilbanks will be held Friday, November 13, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Barrett officiating.  Interment will follow in the Green Hills Memory Gardens.

Mr. Jeff Coleman “J.C.” Lanham Sr.Obit (Good Shepherd)

Mr. Jeff Coleman "J.C." Lanham, Sr. age 88 of Rome passed away Sunday November 8, 2015 at his residence.

Mr. Lanham was born September 3, 1927, in Bartow County, a son of the late Jesse Lee Lanham, and Seney Young Lanham. He was a member of East View Baptist Church, and was retired from American National Life Insurance Copy. Mr. Lanham served two terms as mayor of Menlo, Georgia. He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Lanham, brothers, Donald Lanham, Harold Lanham, Clarence "Shorty" Lanham, Charles Lanham, and Jerry Lanham, sisters, Mildred Crumkleton, Mary Lou Otting, and Elise Osborne.

Survivors include, his wife, Blessilda Reyes Lanham, sons, Steve (Kay) Lanham, Summerville; Larry (Jackie) Lanham, Summerville; Bobby (Rocky) Lanham, Atlanta; daughters, Robin (Jimmy) Kennedy, Rome; Shirley (David) Chupp, Guntersville, Al; Angela Money, Rome; brother in laws, Cliff Osborne, and Arlie Haney, sister in law, Lyndol Lanham, 17 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, several nieces nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday November 11, 2015 at Parnick Jennings, Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Mizpah United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Maggie Lou Thomas, age 74, of Menlo, GA, died Friday, November 6, 2015, at her residence. 

Mrs. Thomas was born August 28, 1941, in Summerville, GA, daughter of the late Robert Paul and Ola Bartlett Copeland. She was a member of the Menlo United Methodist Church, and prior to her retirement, was employed with Best Manufacturing where she was a member of the Best Silver Club. 

Mrs. Thomas is survived by her husband, John William Thomas; daughter and son-in-law, Tracey and John Younce; a sister, Bonnie Ruth Tucker; 5 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services for Mrs. Thomas will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, November 8, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jody Brock officiating.  Interment will follow in the Alpine Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dan McCollum, Dale McCollum, Terry Day, Tim Day, Shaun Younce, and Matthew Parrish.  Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult Sunday School Class of the Menlo United Methodist Church.

 MRS. NANCY PAULINE GILREATH, age 73, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, November 6, 2015, in a Rome hospital.  A native Chattooga Countian, She was born to the late Carlton and Pauline Helton Berry on April 7, 1942.  She was a Homemaker.

Surviving are husband, Steven E. Gilreath; daughters, Kathy McGuire, Tammie Gilreath, Shanna Dodd, and Tonia Roudsaville; sisters, Judy Bridges and Cindy Ledford; grandchildren, Mica McGuire, Jordon & Jason Warrne, Derek Dodd, and Ovilia Stancil; great granddaughter, Eisley Jane Warren; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

The Family will receive friends Saturday, November 7th, from 4 until 6 P.M. at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home; there will be a private service at a later date.

Mrs. Syble Earl Brown, age 92, of Summerville, GA died Thursday, November 05, 2015 at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
 
Mrs. Brown was born November 4, 1923 in Subligna, GA, the daughter of the late Jesse Scoggins and Lois Chapman Scoggins.  She was a homemaker and seamstress. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dort Brown.
 
Mrs. Brown is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Gail Brown, Ronnie and Pat Brown, and Rick and Cheryl Brown; a sister, Ruby McWilliams; 5 Grandchildren; and 7 Great Grandchildren, and 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren.
 
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Smith officiating.  Burial will follow at Subligna Methodist Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Kevin Brown, Scott Brown, Rance Brown, Cameron Brown, Jake Nelson, Jordan DeJesus, and Mike Sutton.
