MR. ROBERT E. (SPOOKY) DAWSON, age 62,

of Gore-Subligna Road, Summerville, Georgia

passed away Monday afternoon in a Rome

hospital.  He was born on October 31, 1952 to

the late Lester M. and June Self Dawson.

Allison Eubanks of Summerville;

Mr. Joe Louis Darden Obit (Wright)

Mr. Joe Louis Darden, age 75, of 696 Garvin Rd., Summerville, Ga.,  passed away Thursday, August 20, 2015, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.  Mr. Darden was  born in Douglasville, Ga., on September 27, 1939, son of the late Ellis, Sr. and the late Cerlister Geter Darden. 

Survivors include his Ex-wife and friend, Essie M. Darden, Summerville Ga.; children, Sharon Covington, Covington, Ga.,  Whitney (Raven) Summerlin, Chattanooga, Tn., and Casey (Keisha) Darden, Atlanta, Ga.; sisters, Joyce (Melvin) Knox, Menlo, Ga., Ennis (Charlie) Campbell Atlanta,Ga., and Annie Stewart, Ft. Stewart, Ga.; six grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 24, 2015, at 2 PM at New Spirit and Truth Church, Summerville, Ga., with Bishop V.T. Harden, officiating. Interment will follow in Summerville Cemetery.

Mr. Jerry Pendley Homes Obit (M)

Mr. Jerry Pendley Holmes, age 96, of Summerville, GA, died Friday, August 21, 2015, at his residence.

Mr. Holmes was born December 9, 1918, in Ranger, GA, son of the late Leonard Arthur and Eva Lorraine Chastain Holmes.  He was a member of the Alpine Community Church and was retired from the Georgia Forestry Commission.  He was also a member of the Toastmasters of Rome, the Fairmount Ruritan Club, Red Carpet Cattlemen, Farm Bureau, and the Gordon Democratic Committee.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Vance Earl Holmes; sisters,  Beatrice Richardson, Eunice Holmes, Estelle Watkins, and Earlee Nesbitt.

Mr. Holmes is survived by his wife, Carolyn Eubanks Holmes; a son, Jerry Donald Holmes; daughters and sons-in-law, Beth and Lynn Hall, Diane Squires and Bob Stringfield, Esther and Tommy Ball, and Brenda Holmes; a sister, Ruth Wood; grandchildren, Angie and Joseph Culbert, Christy Hall, Jamie and Randy Corbin, Stephanie and Jeff Whitlock, Tommy and Christina Ball, James and Eva Ball, Caroline Holmes and Rodney Johnson, Amy Potts and Brad Nolan, Sarah and Paul Levasseur; great-grandchildren, Chase Culbert, Cody Corbin, Lillie and Lila Ball, Ian Ball, Aiden Holmes, Chloe and Maddie Johnson, Blake Harris, Jimmy and Jacob Owens, and Anna and Jack Levasseur.

Funeral services for Mr. Holmes will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, August 22, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Pledger officiating.  Interment will follow in the Alpine Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Thomas Ball III, James A. Ball, Paul Levasseur, Rodney Johnson, Randy Corbin, Joseph Culbert, Brad Nolan, and Jeff Whitlock.

Mr. Clyde Barnes, Jr. Obit (M)

Mr. Clyde Barnes, Jr., age 75, of Summerville, GA, died Thursday, August 20, 2015, at his residence. 

Mr. Barnes was born on January 31, 1940, in Summerville, GA, son of the late Clyde Barnes and Mary E. Barnes.  He was a member of the Chesterfield Baptist Church, did paint and body work and was retired from Mount Vernon Mills. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Raymond Barnes, Clarkie Barnes, James Barnes, Carl Barnes, sisters, Hazel Richardson and Kat Ellis. 

Mr. Barnes is survived by his wife, Naomi Mitchell Boyd Barnes, sons, Chad Barnes, Tony Barnes; sisters, Bobbie McArthur, Evely Spradling, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Ann Broyles, 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, a host nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services for Mr. Barnes will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 23, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Howell, Rev. Sanford DeBerry, Rev. Steve Bishop and Rev. Mickey Skates officiating.  Interment will follow in the AMI Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Keith Treadwell, Waymon Blansit, Gene Gazaway, Bill Broyles, Jeff Barnes, Randy McArthur. Mrs. Willie Mae Terry Mostiller obit (W)

MRS. WILLIE MAE TERRY MOSTILLER – Age 86, Of Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Pruitt Healthcare in Rome, Georgia with her family at the bedside. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Carrie Mae Stanford Terry, husband, James Mostiller, Son, Bernard Mostiller, sister, Charlie Mae Harden, and brother, Roy Leslie Terry. She was the oldest of ten children and was a member of Pond Spring A.M.E. Zion Church.

Those left to cherish her memories are two daughters, Glenice (James) Thurman of Rome, Georgia and Sandra Mostiller; two sons, Daniel Mostiller of Summerville, Georgia and Samuel (Kim) Mostiller of Lithonia, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Britt, Chris, and Kira Thurman of Rome, Georgia, Maurice and Daniel II of Summerville, Georgia, Samuel and Rodney of Lithonia, Georgia; nine great grandchildren, three sisters, Mattie E. Terry (Perry) Dent, Sr. of Columbus, Georgia, Bernice Terry of Union City, Georgia, and Ivera Terry Powell of Atlanta, Georgia; four brothers, Jimmy L. (Thelma) Terry of Atlanta, Georgia, Clifford L. Terry of Park Forest, Illinois, John Raymond Terry, and Samuel L. Terry of Manchester, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Frances Pauline Crisler (Chris-ler) Rutledge, age 86, of Summerville, GA, died Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at her residence.
 
Mrs. Rutledge was born January 29, 1929, in Cedar Bluff, AL, daughter of the late Ezekiel Morry Lester Crisler and Elva Baldwin Crisler.  She was a member of the Pennville First Baptist Church and was retired from Mount Vernon Mills.  She enjoyed being with family and friends, cooking, gardening, nature, and music.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Albert Lee Rutledge; step-mother, Ruby Isabell Crisler; sister, Hazel Phillips; brothers, Lester Crisler and Hoyt Crisler; and a grandson, Cody Cooper.
 
Mrs. Rutledge is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Robert Williams, Kim and Dennis Knight, Jennie and Jerry Hennon; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Eda Rutledge, Alan and Virginia Rutledge; grandchildren, Amy and Jay White, Jeremy and Marcia Hennon, Brock and Lauren Rutledge, Josh and Lindsey Rutledge, Zeke and Misty Hennon, Ryan Rutledge, and Caine Rutledge; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Emily, Megan, and Elizabeth Hennon, Abby and Judson White, Savannah, Sarah, Saydi, Sidney, and Sylvi Rutledge; sister and brother-in-law, Glenda and Bob Wheeling; sisters-in-law, Julia Crisler, Sara Jo Crisler, and Linda Rutledge.  Numerous nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Lois Grogan also survive.
 
Funeral services for Mrs. Rutledge will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 20, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Wilborn and Rev. Billy Dempsey officiating.  Interment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens.  Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Jay and Judson White, Brock Rutledge, Josh Rutledge, Ryan Rutledge, Caine Rutledge, Zeke Hennon, Jeremy Hennon, and Caleb Hennon.  Honorary pallbearers will be the ladies of Pennville First Baptist Church, and the nurses and staff of LifeChoice Hospice – Christina, Sharon, Nicole, Michelle, and Chaplain Ricky Studdard.

Mr. Billy Vaughn Jackson Obit (Wallis-Wilbanks)

MR.  BILLY  VAUGHN  JACKSON,  Age,  80,  of  LaFayette  passed  away  Saturday, August 15, 2015.

Billy Vaughn  was  born  on  May 25, 1935 to Earl  and  Pearl  Neely  Jackson.  He  was  a  veteran  of  the  United  States  Army.  Billy  Vaughn  was  a  member  of  the  Lake  Howard  Baptist  Church.  He  was  a  loving  husband,  father,  grandfather  and  friend.

He  was  preceded  in  death  by  his  parents;  sister  VeLulla  Gentry;  brothers  Walter  Earl  Jackson  and  Bryan  Hall  Jackson.

Billy  Vaughn  is  survived  by  his  loving  wife  of  48  years  Waydean  Rhinehart  Jackson  of  LaFayette;  daughters  and  sons-in-law  Tonia  (Mike)  Jones  of  LaFayette  and  Angie  (Darrell)  Croft  of  Trion;  son  and  daughter-in-law  Pastor  Tony  (Terri)  Jackson  of  LaFayette;  sisters  Delores  Grigsby  of  LaFayette  and  Bobbie  Day  of  Trion;  and  sister-in-law  Dee  Jackson  of  Tunnel  Hill;  five  grandchildren;  several  nieces  and  nephews  also  survive.

Funeral  from  the  Lake  Howard  Baptist  Church  Tuesday,  August 18  at  2:00  P.M.  with  Pastors  Tony  Jackson  and  Kenneth  Jennings  officiating.

Interment  in  the  Crest-Lawn  Memorial  Park  Cemetery.

Pallbearers  are  grandson  Zack  Jones,  nephews  David  and  Lenn  Jackson,  Preston  Stephenson,  Malcolm  Pickard,  and    Marvin  Edgeman.

Mrs. Lillie Mae Thompson Stewart of Chickamauga, GA and formerly of Summerville, GA pased away on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Pruitt Healthcare in LaFayette, GA.  She was a member of the Hemphill A.M.E. Church and Shady Grove Baptist Church, was preceded in death by her husband Hollis Stewart, parents Jackson and Annie Sewell Thompson, brother Felton Smith, Sr., sisters Ellen Avery, Rosa Lee Ellerby, and Isabelle Norman.

Survivors are her nieces, Annie Mae Bryant of Chickamauga, GA, Voncil Coleman of Chattanooga, TN, Annie Mae Glanton, Laura Dean Knowles, Rosa Lee Stamper, Bessie London, Arbie Avery of Summerville, GA, Bernice Walter of Toledo, OH,; Nephews, Henry Avery of Rossville, GA, Rowlan Stewart of Summerville, GA,; several other neices and nephews throughout the United States and into China.  cousins, other relatives and friends. MRS. MARY FRANCES DAWSON, age 75, of John Jones Road, Summerville, Georgia, Gore Community, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at her residence.  She was born in Jackson County, Alabama to the late William Harrison and Alma Adams Barron, on January 19, 1940; was a 1957 graduate of Summerville High School..  Mrs. Dawson was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and had served as Church Treasurer for many years; she was retired from Farmers & Merchants Bank after some 29 years of service.

        Surviving are husband, to whom She married June 7, 1959, Joe G. Dawson; daughters & spouses, Pam & Ricky Hammonds and Paige & Greg Shaw; brother, Jimmy Barron; granddaughters, Megan Jo Hunter, Clancey Paige & Calen Cooper; grandsons, Chris & Avery Hammonds and Chuck & Brandi Hammonds; great grandchildren, Autumn, Will, Reese, Calan, and Lexi Hammonds.

        Funeral services will be held Friday, August 14th, at 2:00 P.M. from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev.
