Mrs. Alice Faye Bowman Obit (M)

Mrs. Alice Faye Bowman, age 66, of Menlo, GA, died Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

 

Mrs. Bowman was born August 20, 1948, in LaFayette, GA, daughter of the late Charles Wilburn "Jack" and Grace Leona Caheely.  She was a member of the Menlo Presbyterian Church.  She worked as an L.P.N. for 35 years, showing her patients the same love and attention as she did her family, even working while she was bound to a wheelchair.  She became family to countless numbers of people who had no one.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Neil Bowman, Sr., and a son, Neil Bowman, Jr.

 

Mrs. Bowman is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Shanne and Yogi Hegwood, Donna Dyer and Greg Koonce, Jackie Ezell; surrogate daughters, Brandy Wyatt and Kelli Green; brother and sister-in-law, Chuck and Pam Caheely; grandchildren, Nathan Hegwood, Natalie Hegwood, Nicole and Jake Morrison, Corey and Haley Dyer, Gabby Dyer, April and Jeff Phillips, Chris and Lisa Bowman, Kim and Danny Stimpson, Dewayne and Misty Chamlee, Lily Grace Green, and Matthew Martin; great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Dyer, Zion Morrison, and several more great-grandchildren; and special relative and lifelong friend, Henry Covington.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Bowman will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 28, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bobby Jones officiating.  Interment will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Chris Bowman, Tyler Blalock, Dewayne Chamlee, Joe Dodd, Lew Green, and Matthew Martin.  Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Pruitt Healthcare.

 

Mrs. Bowman will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Friday, February 27, 2015.

Mrs. Mary Frances Haygood Obit (M)

Mrs. Mary Frances Haygood, age 85, of Trion, GA, died Monday, February 23, 2015, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Haygood was born December 26, 1929, in Lyerly, GA, daughter of the late Frank Noah and Ida Jane Keith Battles.  She was a member of the Trion First Baptist Church and the Silver Sneakers.  She had also served as a board member with the Trion City Schools Board of Education, the Town of Trion City Council, the Trion Veterans Committee, and the Chattooga County Library Board.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman E. Haygood; brothers, Marshall Battles, L. C. Battles, and Bill Battles; sisters, Amanda Williams, Maggie Mathis, and Daisy Day.

Mrs. Haygood is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Mark B. and Anita Haygood, A. Reed and Joanie Haygood, David R. and Denise Haygood; daughter and son-in-law, M. Beth and Chuck DeParlier; grandchildren, Jeremy Haygood, Kelly Haygood, Holly Haygood, Chase DeParlier, Noah DeParlier, Connor DeParlier, and Pippa DeParlier; great-grandchildren, Alexys Haygood, Stacy Haygood, and Sarah Bell.

Mrs. Carolyn June “Kat” Wesson Obit (Henderson)

Mrs. Carolyn June “Kat” Wesson, age 72, of Summerville, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2015, at a local hospital.

Mrs. Wesson was born in Trion, GA on April 9, 1942, daughter of the late James Cordelle Nixon and the late Hazel Smith Nixon. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Wesson was a beloved member of the Chattooga County School System. She enjoyed "Gone with the Wind", collecting numerous items. Mrs. Wesson loved her family, especially her grandchildren. We will miss her, but forever keep her memories in our hearts.

Survivors include her husband, Gerald Weymon Wesson, Summerville; four children, Jeffrey David Carter, Lafayette, Flecia Davette Deering, Virginia Beach, VA, Andrea Michelle Norton, and her husband, Joey, Rome, and Rebecca Hope Hamilton, and her husband, Scott, Rome; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family and friends also survive.

A celebration of life for Mrs. Wesson will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 6:00pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, with family members officiating.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Tuesday one hour prior to the service. At other hours, they may be reached at their respective residences.

Mrs. Irene Angles Barker Obit (M)

Mrs. Irene Angles Barker, age 98, passed away at her home in Summerville, GA Tuesday, February 24, 2015.

 

Mrs. Barker was born May 11, 1916 in Eatonton, GA, the daughter of the late William

Mathis and Susan Beeland Angles. Mrs. Barker was a long time resident of 

Summerville, retiring from Riegel/Mt. Vernon Mills in 1973. She was preceded in death by her husband, J C Barker; and beloved son, Joe Barker.

 

Mrs. Barker’s children attended her final days with love and admiration.  She is survived by three daughters, Janice Trimble and husband Jim, of Atlanta, GA, Joyce Williams

and husband, Harold, of Trion, GA, Delaine “Dee” Lonergan and husband Ed, of

Rome, GA; and one son, Stan Barker and wife Paulette, of Ringgold, GA; 12 Grandchildren; and numerous Great-grandchildren; and one brother, Marvin Angles,

of Trion, GA.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Mason

Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Canup officiating.  Burial will follow in

Greenhills Memory Gardens.  Active pallbearers will be Phil Williams, Jody Barker,

Eric Somerville, Shawn Day, Chuck Parsons, and Michael Barker.  Honorary pallbearers

Mrs. Pat Mosley Headrick Obit (C)

Mrs. Pat Mosley Headrick, age 74, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the Fifth Avenue Health Care Center.

Mrs. Headrick was born in Trion, Georgia on June 5, 1940, daughter of the late Ray Clark and Maybell Grogan Clark. She was a member of the Trion First Baptist Church and prior to retirement was employed with Riegel Textile. Mrs. Headrick was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Mosley, Second husband, Granvill Headrick; sister, Debbie Clark and a grandson, Daniel Edmondson.

Mrs. Headrick is survived by her children, Mike Mosley, Dan and Sandy Mosley, Chuck and Sheena Mosley, Sandra Mosley and Susan and Danny Reece; a sister, Brenda Norton; 12 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service for Mrs. Headrick will be held Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 4:30 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Casey Bramlett officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Teems, Billy Teems, Ray Casey, Dee Windle and Wayne Humphrey. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Trion First Baptist Church and the staff of Amedysis Hospice.

Mr. Fred DeBerry, age 78, of Trion, Georgia, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2015 at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. DebBerry was born in Summerville, Georgia on September 17, 1936, son of the late Ennis Harold DeBerry and Cecil Nelson DeBerry. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the United States Air Force. Mr. Deberry was very active and loved working in church activities, serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Choir Director and Sunday School Superintendent. He was retired from Reichhold Chemical Company, and was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy DeBerry and Terry DeBerry.

Mr. DeBerry is survived by his children, Jeffrey LaDon DeBerry, Timothy Scott DeBerry, Lisa DeBerry Crowe and her husband, Wayne, Amanda DeBerry Harmon and her husband, Scott; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Elaine DeBerry, Jerry Dale DeBerry and Harold and Sandra DeBerry; sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Buddy Rosson, Linda and Bobby Shaver and Debbie England; grandchildren, Justin Crowe, Tyler DeBerry, Chance DeBerry, Tricia Sipsy, Erin Sipsy, Peyton DeBerry and Emma DeBerry; one great grandchild, Nico Crowe and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. William “Pete” Cooper, age 83, of Lyerly, GA, died Friday, February 20, 2015, at his residence.
 
Mr. Cooper was born February 12, 1932, in Subligna, GA, son of the late Floyd and Jessie Mae Elsberry Cooper.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Textile Mechanical Service.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Cooper.
 
Mr. Cooper is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Cooper; children, Randy and Tammy Cooper, Rita Brooks and Peter Sussman, Beverly Simpson, Tina Reynolds, Cindy and Randy Broyles, Kim and Greg Hurley, and Kelly and Rodney Yarborough; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Paul Nathan Dyer, age 92 of Evans, GA formerly of Trion, GA passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015  Mr. Dyer was born August 3, 1922 in Chattooga County, GA.  Mr. Dyer was a member of The Church of God Northside.  From an early age he was involved in his local church with music and in later years was appointed Deacon.  The older he got the sweeter he got and was loved by all who cared for him.  Mr. Dyer was retired from G. E. Corporation as a welder and was a Veterans of the United States Navy Mr. Dyer was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Dyer; parents, Robert E. Lee and Harriett Amanda Stiles Dyer; brothers, Robert Eugene "Gene" Dyer and Marion B. Dyer.

Mr. Dyer is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Stephen N. and Kathy Dyer; sister and brother-in-law, June and John W.
