Mrs. Patricia Ann Love, age 76, of Summerville, GA, passed away Saturday March 7, 2015, at her residence.
Mrs. Love was born December 22, 1938, in Summerville, GA, the daughter of Thomas Elbert and Winnie Louise Matthews Flood.  She was retired from Roper, and was a member of the United By  Faith Baptist Church.
 
Survivors include her husband, Benjamin F. Love, daughter, Renee Gilbert, brother, Thomas A. Flood, granddaughter, Brianna Gilbert.
 
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday March 10, 2015 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel  with Rev. Barry Brown, Bro. John McGraw, Bro. Gene Cavin officiating with interment in the Greenhills Memory Garden.  Active pallbearers, Andy Tidmore, Tim Wesson, Gene Wesson, Bob Wesson, Jaime Hunnicutt, Johnny Hunnicutt, Bobby Gilliland, Nicholas Flood, Tony Prince, Jacob Lacey.

Mrs. Grace Gillespie Simmons Incomplete Obit (M)

Mrs. Grace Gillespie Simmons, age 99, of Trion, GA, passed away Wednesday March 4, 2015, in Gaffney, S.C.

Mrs. Simmons was born January 22, 1916, in Fountain, S.C., the daughter of the late William Robert and Lula Mae Stallings Gillespie.  She was a home maker and a member of the Trion 1st Baptist Church.  Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Simmons

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, David and Roslyn Simmons, Gaffney, S.C., grandson  and wife, Adam and Kimberly Simmons, Charlotte, N.C.

Mr. Lark Blake “L.B.” Cook, Jr. Obit (M)

Mr. Lark Blake “L. B.” Cook, Jr., age 84, of Chattoogaville, GA, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

 

A lifelong resident of the Chattoogaville Community, Mr. Cook was born July 21, 1930, the son of the late Lark Blake Cook, Sr. and Gussie Gayler Cook.  He was retired from Mohawk and was also a retired farmer.  He was a member of the Lyerly United Methodist Church and the Lyerly U.M.C. Men’s Club.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann Peppers Cook, to whom he was married for 62 years, and two brothers, Ken Cook and Donald Cook.

 

Mr. Cook is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jackie Blake Cook Ellenburg and William Edward Ellenburg, Jr.; a granddaughter, Meredith Blake Ellenburg Dunagan and her husband, Cameron Dunagan; grandson, Matthew Edward Ellenburg; and a great-granddaughter, Rachel Blake Dunagan.  Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

 

Funeral services for Mr. Cook will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 7, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow in the Lyerly Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Billy Stallings, Butch Gardner, Rayburn Mitchell, Johnny Crawford, Mike Hurley, Johnny Montgomery, Joe Reed, and Leonard Robinson.  Honorary pallbearers will be the Men of the Lyerly United Methodist Church.

 

Mr. Cook will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service on Saturday.

Mr. Cook was born July 21, 1930, in Chattooga County Georgia, the son of the late Lark Blake Cook, SR, and Gussie Gaylor Cook.  He was retired from Mohawk Carpet Mills, and after retirement worked  with  Mason Funeral Home for a number of years, was  a member of the Lyerly United Methodist Church, and preceded death by his wife, Betty Ann Peppers Cook, brothers, Ken Cook, and Donald Cook.
 
Survivors include his daughter  and son-in-law, Jackie and Eddie Ellenburg, 2 grandchildren, Blake and Matt.

Mr. Bobby Jack Hite, age 81, of Marietta, Georgia formerly of Rome
 and Summerville, Georgia passed away Monday, March 2, 2015 at the
 WellStar Kennestone Hospital.

Mr. Hite was born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 30, 1934, son of the
 late Arthur Glenn Hite and Ada Lee Williams Harper.  He was a member
 of the Four Mile Baptist Church in Summerville, Georgia and prior to
 retirement was the owner of Hite Tile, a Tile Contracting company
, that installed ceramic tile and marble throughout the Cobb County
 and Metro Atlanta Area.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Hite was
 preceded in death by a step-father, Paul Harper; a son, Wayne
 Lynn Hite; a sister, Polly Oglesby and brothers, William Hite and
 Dick Hite.

Mr. Hite is survived by his wife, Margaret Beck Hite of Marietta;
sons and daughter-in-law, Steve and Pam Hite of Grayson, GA and 
 Phillip Hite of Dalton; daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and 
Wayne Teal of Morrow, GA and Sandra and Mike Thomas of
 McDonough; sisters and brother-in-law, Katie Forsythe and Louise
 and John Harms; grandchildren, Chris Hite, Jason Hite, Alicia 
Mitchum, Selyna Kidd, Elizabeth Hampton, Jennifer Hite, Xander Hite,
 Emily Hite, James Thomas, Zachary Thomas, Hope Hite, Jamey
 Coffman and Dondee Hite; several great grandchildren and a

 2015 at 2:00 P.M. in the Four Mile Baptist Church, Summerville,
 GA with Rev. Doyle Kelley officiating.  Interment will follow on Saturday,
 March 7, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. in the Fairview Memorial Gardens in 
Stockbridge, Georgia.

Pallbearers will be Xander Hite, James Thomas, Chris Hite, Jason Hite,
Treyton Coffman,  Jamey Coffman, and Zachary Thomas.

Mr. William Donald “Foots” Bishop Obit (M)

Mr. William Donald "Foots" Bishop, age 73, of Summerville, GA, died Monday, March 2, 2015 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Bishop was born March 18, 1941, in Centre, AL, son of the late Hubert and Thelma Bishop.  He was a member of the Faith Temple and worked as a carpenter.  Mr. Bishop enjoyed fishing, attending Gospel singings, and browsing trade days.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Donnie Bishop; and brothers, Reuben Bishop, Ed Bishop, and Wallace Bishop.

Mr. Bishop is survived by his wife, Shirley Bishop; a son, Larry Bishop; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Bishop and Paul Bell; grandchildren, Krysta Blankenship and Daniel Bishop; great-grandchildren, Brody Craig and Ryan Rosser; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Bishop will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 5, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Oscar Stapp and Rev. Mrs. Brenda Joyce Cochran Worsham Obit (ER)

BRENDA JOYCE COCHRAN WORSHAM, 69, widow of Bobby Ray Worsham, died Thursday, February 26, 2015 at University Hospital, Augusta, GA.


A native of Trion, GA, Brenda was a daughter of the late Frank and Ruth Stewart Cochran. She grew up in Trion and lived in Cross Lanes, WV prior to moving to Aiken in 2001. Brenda was a court reporter with the Social Security Administration and continued to work part-time after her retirement. She was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church in Aiken, and was formerly active with the CSRA Shag Club.


Brenda’s great joys in life were her grandchildren and friends. She loved to travel with friends and was recently able to fulfill a life-long dream of taking a trip to Hawaii with her children. Her love of life was apparent in everything she did, as was her ability to make a friend out of a stranger. She was loved by all who knew her and will be missed by many.
Survivors include her two children, Jennifer Worsham Goff (Stefan), Hurricane, WV, Christopher Ray Worsham (Ahronn), Roswell, GA; four grandchildren, Ryan Goff, Madison Goff, Jack Worsham, Lilly Worsham; a sister, Sue Finister (Terry), Aiken. In addition to her husband and parents, Brenda was preceded in death by a sister, Pat Buckalew (Dick).
Monday, March 02, 2015, funeral service was held at 4 PM at Shellhouse- Rivers Funeral Home. Interment service will be Tuesday, March 3rd, at 2 PM in New Hope South Baptist Church Cemetery, in Holland Community, Lyerly, GA.

Mr. Maxwell is survived by his mother, Mary Helen Walker Maxwell; sister and brother-in-law, Alissa and Buddy Porter; and several cousins.

Mrs. Harris was born May 7, 1937, in Ft Payne, AL, the daughter of the late Joseph and Lillie Pace Hampton.  She was a home maker and preceded in death by her 1st  husband,  Wilford Cameron, 2nd husband, Billy Hayes, 3rd husband, Richard Clifford Harris,  son Michael Hayes, brothers, Aaron Hampton, Paul Hampton, sisters, Naomi Johnson, and Lillie Holden.
 
Survivors include her children, Dennis Cameron, James Hayes, Linda Cameron Hall, Betty Hayes Crouch, Bobbie Hayes Walker, step-children, Rev. Rickey Harris, Pat Smith and Wanda Patterson, sister, Jean Smith, 17 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren.
 
Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday March 3, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rickey Harris officiating with entombment in the Greenhills Memory Garden Mausoleum.  Active pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandchildren.
