Ms. Tristia “Trista” Ann Wooden Obit (M)

Ms. Tristia “Trista” Ann Wooden, age 31, of Trion, GA, died Saturday, November 1, 2014, at her residence.

 

Ms. Wooden was born July 18, 1983, in Dalton, GA, the daughter of Johnny Vance Wooden and Tammy Darlene Lambert.

 

Ms. Wooden is survived by her mother and step-father, Tammy and Billy Blackmon; father, Johnny Wooden; a brother, Christopher Wooden; step-sisters, Jessica Blackmon, Jerrica Coleman, Breeze Wooden, and Mikella Wooden; grandparents, Donald Kinsey, Ray Wooden.

 

Memorial services for Ms. Wooden will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 8, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Chasteen officiating.

 

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 10:30 A.M. until the hour of service on Saturday.

Mr. Dewey Clayton Brewster Obit (C)

Mr. Dewey Clayton Brewster, age 65, of Summerville, Georgia, 
passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014 at his residence.

Mr. Brewster was born in Gaylesville, Alabama on December 26,
 1948, son of the late Alf Brewster and Buena Vista Winkle Brewster. 
 He was a person that loved to keep busy, whether it be building
 something, woodworking, working on his farm and anything that 
involved using his tractor.   Mr. Brewster was a member of the Spring 
Creek Baptist Church was a self employed construction contractor.  Mr. Brewster
 was preceded in death by brothers, Hugh Brewster and Junior Brewster; and
 a daughter-in-law, Melinda Kaye Whisenaunt Brewster.

Mr. Brewster is survived by his son, Joey Brewster of Summerville;
 brother, Gordon Brewster of Adairsville; sisters, Betty Jean McCollough
 and Linda Gail Cagle of Sand Rock, AL, and Pauline Steele and Bonnie
 Lou Brewster of Cedar Bluff, AL; granddaughter, Kelsea Brewster; mother
 of his son, Janice Brewster; special friend, Reba Childers Brewster; honorary
 grandchildren, Levi Lodge and Seth Lodge, and a number of nieces 
and nephews.

Memorial Services for Mr. Brewster will be held Saturday, November 8, 2014
at 12:00 Noon at Perrenial Springs Circle B Farm with Rev. Chris Holman and Chris Lodge officiating.  
Private Interment will be on the family farm.

The family will receive friends Saturday, November 8, 2014 following the memorial service.

Mr. Gordon F. Williams Obit (M)

Mr. Gordon F. Williams, age 79, of Cedar Bluff, AL, died Sunday, November 2, 2014, at Redmond Regional Medical center.
 
Mr. Williams was born September 23, 1935, in LaFayette, GA, a son of the late Leonard M. Williams and Jessie Lewis Williams.  Mr. Williams was a self-employed building contractor. He was also retired from Riegel Textiles where he had worked in the Weave Room for 30 years and was a member of the Quarter Century Club.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in the Airborne Unit during the Korean Conflict.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Lemming Williams; a daughter-in-law, Marlene Williams; and several brothers and sisters.
 
Mr. Williams is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Paula Williams, David and Nancy Williams, Randy and Rhonda Williams; a brother, John Paul Williams; sisters, Trudy Williams and Wilma Coker; 7 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
 
Funeral services for Mr. Williams will be held at 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 5, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tony Lively officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Eric Williams, Joseph Williams, Russ Williams, Jordan Jennings, Austin Carnes, Jacob Swann, and Blake Williams.

Infant Christopher Blake Turner, age 5 months, died Thursday, October 30, 2014, at his parents’ residence.
 
He was born May 29, 2014, in Rome, GA, the son of Billy Jacob Turner and Tiffany Leigh Dentmon.  He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Christopher Scott Dentmon; great-grandparents, Billy John Tucker, Marvin Hughes, and Martha Flowers.
 
Survivors include his parents, Billy Jacob Turner and Tiffany Leigh Dentmon; brothers, Isaac Turner and Allen Abernathy; grandparents, Monte and Sissie Turner, Sue Turner, and Tammy Dentmon; great-grandparents, Virginia Gordy, Juliette Hughes, Peggy Tucker, and Leon Turner.
 
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 2, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dewayne Teague officiating.  Interment will follow in the AMI Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Jordan Butler, Gordon Turner, Lee Turner, and Travis Tucker.

Mrs. Lanora Barnette “Gran” Brimer Obit (C)

Mrs. Lanora Barnette “Gran” Brimer, age 97, of Trion, Georgia passed away Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Brimer was born in Lafayette, Georgia on April 27, 1917, daughter of the late Barney L. Hampton, Sr. and Lula Mitchell Hampton. She was a member of the Trion First Baptist Church and had more recently been attending the Trion United Methodist Church. Mrs. Brimer was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Brimer; daughter, Jan Young; brother, Barney L. Hampton, Jr.; and sisters, Ruth Landers, Esther Locklear, Louise Campbell and Nell Freeman.

Mrs. Brimer is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Kay Brimer of Trion; sister, Jane Waters of Lafayette; grandchildren, Kayla and Matt Fortune of Summerville and Angie and Chris Ray of Armuchee; great grandchildren, Ashton Ray and Caroline Ray of Armuchee; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Brimer will be held Sunday, November 2, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Art Graves, and Rev. Warren Moorehead officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Skip Mitchell officiating.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Brimer’s Nephews and Great Grandson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ann Lanier, Betty Howard, Susan Broome, Faye Norman, Shirley Peace, Mary Maxwell, Margaret Henderson, Alicia Hamilton, Kathy Ray and the Staff of Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Brimer will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.

Flowers will be accepted, however those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Trion First Baptist Church Scholarship Fund or to the Trion United Methodist Church.

Ms. Frances Elizabeth Mahan Obit (C)

Frances Elizabeth Mahan, age 95 of Maryville, Tennessee, formerly Summerville, passed away October 30, 2014. 

She was born in Summerville, Georgia on October 30, 1919, daughter of the late O.C. Mahan, Sr. and Willie Strickland Mahan. Frances resided in Washington, D.C. for many years and was employed by the Agriculture Department. She also did volunteer work at the White House for a number of Presidents. Mrs. Mahan was preceded in death by her brothers, Austin Mahan and O.C. Mahan Jr.

Mrs. Mahan is survived by her caregivers, Charles and Eve Miller of Maryville, TN.

Graveside and Interment services will be held Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. in the Family plot of Green Hills Memory Gardens.

There is no formal visitation is planned.

Mrs. Pauline Jeanette Crane, age 77, of Gaylesville, AL, died Wednesday, October 29, 2014, in Huntsville, AL.
 
Mrs. Crane was born July 3, 1937, in Gadsden, AL3, daughter of the late Arthur Hampton and Elfie Hampton. She attended Freedom Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Tammy Crane.
 
Mrs. Crane is survived by her husband, Rudolph Crane, sons, James Ray, Randy Crane, Tommy Crane, Brannon Knight, a daughter, Savanna Crane, sisters, Billie Jo Pruitt, Martha Tackett, Mary Green, Marilyn Sherer, Lucille Hampton,  11 grandchildren, number of great grandchildren.
 
Funeral services for Mrs. Crane will be held at 2:00 P.M. (EST) Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, with Rev. Terry Hawkins officiating.   Interment will follow in the Mount Pleasant Church Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Dustin Crane, Bruce McCurly, Terry Thompson, Tommy Crane, Daniel Wooten, David Wooten, Calvin Sanford, Kenny Barnes.

MR. DIOCLITIOUS LOPEZ “D.L.” NICHOLS, JR. – Age 63, Of Tiqua, Ohio formerly of Lyerly, Georgia passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2014. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Andrea M. Nichols and father, Dioclitious Lopez Nichols, Sr.

He is survived by his three sons, Orlando (Keisha) Nichols of Rome, Georgia, Kevin Nichols of Dayton, Ohio, and Cory Nichols of Tiqua, Ohio; one daughter, Mia Nichols of Tiqua; mother, Corine Nichols of Lyerly, Georgia; three brothers, Reginald Nichols of Sydney, Ohio, Dwight Nichols, and Adrian Nichols of Lyerly; three sisters, Angela (Jerome) Adams of Summerville, Georgia, Cheryl Nichols (Kelly) of Lyerly, and Bethel Dillard of Warner Robbins, Georgia; a host of four grandchildren, nine nieces, sixteen nephews, five aunts, three uncles, and other relatives and friends.

 

Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Pond Spring A.M.E. Church with Rev. Robert Barrett officiating. Mrs. Iris Juanita Plummer, age 91 of Oak Hill Drive, Trion, GA
 passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at her residence.
 Mrs. Plummer was born January 9, 1923 in Waterloo, AL. 
She retired as the Office Manager for the Town of Trion, 
attended of the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ. Mrs. 
Plummer enjoyed planting and reading.
Mrs. Plummer was preceded in death by her parents, 
Walter A. Nelson and Mary Zelphia McDonald Nelson; and
 a brother, Walter Wayne Nelson. 
Mrs. Plummer is survived by her husband of 57 years, 
James “Jimmy” Plummer; sister-in-law, Mozelle Jones;
 three nieces, one nephew, and a number of cousins.          
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 31, 2014 
at 3:00 p.m. in the Petitt Chapel of Coffman Funeral Home 
with Minister Hugh Glaze officiating. Interment will follow

Mrs. Willie Faye Helton Obit (M)

Mrs. Willie Faye Helton, age 86, of Summerville, GA, died Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at her residence.

 

Mrs. Helton was born August 13, 1928, in Jasper, GA, daughter of the late Edge and Minnie Singleton Timms.  She was a faithful member of the Berryton Bible Mission for 46 years, and prior to her retirement, she was employed with Best Manufacturing where she received three awards for no missed days of work.  She was also a member of the Best Quarter Century Club.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Carlton Lee Millican; second husband, Thurmond Pete Helton; brothers, Robert Timms, J. D. Timms, Leon Timms, and Tommy Timms; a sister, Lora Padgett; a daughter, Patsy Thompson; and a grandson, Joel Thompson.

 

Mrs. Helton is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Carlton Rickey Millican, Ronnie Lamar and Pam Millican; a daughter and sons-in-law, Robbin Elaine and Jimmy Brookshire, and Jimmy Thompson; brothers and sister-in-law, Tommy Ronnie and Barbara Timms, James Luther Timms; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Helton will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 31, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Rutledge and Rev. Tom Russell officiating.  Interment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens.  Active pallbearers will be Todd Spears, Jason Hampton, James Rutledge, Matt Angus, Jeremy Jackson, and Larry Reynolds.  Honorary pallbearers will be the Ladies of the Berryton Christian Center.
