Mrs. Catherine VanPelt Obit (ER)

MRS. CATHERINE VANPELT, age 88, of Summervile, Georgia passed away Tuesday, Jalu 22, 2014, evening in the local nursing home. A Gordon County native, She was born on February 7, 1926 to the late Arch and Arrie Beck Reed. Mrs. Vanpelt was retired from the sewing department of Mars Glove, in LaFayette and was preceded in death by her husbands the late Ray Vanpelt and the late J.C. Miller; a Daughter; sisters, Sallie Reed, Annie Ruth Reed Waddell, and Jettie Benita Lankford, all died earlier.

Surviving are daughter, Tax Commissioner, Kathy Vanpelt Brown of Summerville;
grandson-Greg Brown of Ketchikan, Alaska; other Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 25th, at 4 PM from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor Jimmy Chastain officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Active Pallbearers Mike Vanpelt, Ricky Vanpelt, William Elrod, Jerry Wright, Brandon Gurley, Lann Cordle, and Randy Dalrimple; Honorary Pallbearers the “Angel” Nurses and CNAs of B Hall of Oak View Nursing Home. Mr. Billy Shane Clark, age 45, of Summerville, GA died Monday, July 21, 2014

at his home.

 

Mr. Clark was born January 22, 1969 in Cleveland, TN, the son of the late

William Eugene Clark and Brenda Joyce Maxwell Clark.  Mr. Clark was a painter.

 

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Clark; and sisters, Tina King and Terri Stewart.

Mrs. Shirley Ann Biggs, age 74, of Union Street in Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, July 18, 2014 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Biggs was born in Grayson, Georgia on June 24, 1940, daughter of the late James William Plunkett and Flora Bell Bedingfield Plunkett. She was of the Baptist Faith and prior to retirement was employed as a property manager.

Mrs. Biggs is survived by her sons and a daughter-in-law, Lloyd Wayne Cooper of Gainesville, GA and Charles Milton Biggs and his wife, Tina Biggs of Griffin, Georgia; brothers, James Allen Plunkett, and George William Plunkett of Henry County, Georgia; sisters, Bonnie Sue Woodfin of Summerville, GA, Margaret Dwayne DeAngelo and Deborah Gail Cater, both of Henry County, GA; and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

The immediate family had a small gathering for the family Saturday, July 19, 2014 at the Coffman Funeral Home. Following the gathering, Mrs. Biggs will be cremated according to her wishes, and the family will have a private memorial service at a later date.

Mr. Jimmy Williams Obit (Willis)

MR. JIMMY WILLIAMS – AGE 62, – Of Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, July 17, 2014 while he was working with his employer Railworks Track System in Gadsden, Alabama.  He graduated from Chattooga High School and he attended Auburn University.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Daisey Lee Kincade Williams, four brothers, and one sister.

Mr. Dave Milton Fowler, age 51, of Trion, GA, passed away Thursday July 17, 2014, in Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Fowler was born July 5, 1963, in Ft. Payne, AL, the son of Wayne and Cynitha Moore Fowler.  Mr. Fowler was a self-employed auto body repairman.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Sue Brown Fowler, children, Richard & Amber Ramirez, Chris & Magan Ramirez, Jon Ramirez, Caressa & Josh Bailey Ramirez, grandchildren, Lexie, Avaci, Rhiannon, Albany, Kaden, Grayson, Aurora, and Zofi, Sisters, Carla Fowler & B.J. Rev. Jack Lynn Harvey Obit (M)

Rev. Jack Lynn Harvey, age 65, of Flintstone, GA died Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Winchester, TN.

Rev. Harvey was born September 3, 1948, in Lenoir City, TN, the son of the late Kannah Harvey and Lucy Seay Harvey.  Rev. Harvey was an evangelist who pastored several churches including West Seattle Church of God from 1981 until 1984 and Cedartown Church of God from 1994 until 2000.  He was also a member of the Church of God Evangelical Team and Board.  Other than his parents, Rev. Harvey was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Harvey.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Trina Harvey; children, Steven Craig Harvey, Joseph Kyle Harvey, and Kirby Miles; grandchildren, Chandlin Harvey, Caden Harvey, Eden Harvey, and Jakob Scott; and a sister-in-law, Martha Harvey.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel, with Steven Craig Harvey, Joseph Kyle Harvey, and Kirby Miles speaking and Rev. Bruce Flowers officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens with Rev. Mrs. Annie Laura Pledger

Mrs. Annie Laura Pledger, age 81, of Summerville, GA, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Pledger was born November 20, 1932, in LaFayette, GA, a daughter of the late Howard Paul and Sally Ida Simms Williams.  She was a homemaker.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar I. Wilson; a brother, Tommy Anderson Williams; sisters, Betty Sue McGraw and Frances Williams.

Mrs. Pledger is survived by her sons, Jerry Wilson, Buster Wilson, and James Pledger, Jr.; daughters, Trudy Scoggins and Gwen Hatcher; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services for Mrs. Pledger will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 18, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Pledger officiating.  Interment will follow in the South Carolina Campground Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Brandon Pledger, Joseph Wilson, Randy Wilson, Lee Wilson, Dave Chambers, Danny Hatcher, David Wilson, and Barry Chambers.

Mrs. Ruby B. Tinney Adams, Updated Obit. (C)

Mrs. Ruby B. Tinney Adams, age 91, of Trion, passed away Sunday, July 06, 2014 at the Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

   Mrs. Adams was born in Jackson County, Alabama on January 1, 1923, daughter of the late Richard Emmett Coffey and Esther Alexander Coffey. She was a member of the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ and was a homemaker. Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her first husband, Dwight Martin Tinney, Sr.; second husband, Governor Samuel “Bo” Adams; grandson, James Adams; brothers, James Coffey and Rupert Coffey; sisters, Gladys White, Johnnie Burrow, Julia Mae Delaney and Mary Ruth Sisk; and a son-in-law, David Pedigo.

   Mrs. Adams is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Dwight and Mary TInney, Raymond and Shelia Adams and Raynard and DJ Adams; daughter, Gail Pedigo; grandchildren, Billy Adams, Krysta Adams, Brianna Adams, Kayla Godfrey, Jamie Crowder and Cindy Shurrock; great grandchildren, Brody Adams, Katie Taylor, Kerrie Taylor, Nikkie Crowder and Matthew Crowder and Patrick Shurrock; 3 great great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

   Funeral Services for Mrs. Adams will be held Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Minister Hugh Glaze officiating. Interment will follow in the Howell Cemetery.

   Pallbearers will be Dennis Murdock, Danny Murdock, Billy Adams, Azell Burrows, Michael Delaney and Michael Tinney. Honorary Pallbearers will be the staff of Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Michael McWilliams Obit (ER)

MR. MICHAEL McWILLIAMS, age 62, of Haywood Valley Road, Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014, at his residence following an illness.

He was born August 30, 1951, a son of the late William L. (Bob) McWilliams and Ruby Lee Scoggins McWilliams who survives. Mr. McWilliams attended the University of Georgia and Georgia State; was employed as a pharmacist with his Dad at Trion Drugs in the early 1970s. Later He worked at J & J Carpet in Dalton and Billy Graham Metals in Subligna area. He was very artistic, especially enjoyed doing Civil War figures, and participated in various Civil War reenactments. Michael was preceded in death by his brothers, the late Joey McWilliams and the late Tim McWilliams.

Surviving are His mother, Ruby McWilliams; sister-in-law, Martha McWilliams; and niece & fiancee, Christa Leeann McWilliams all of Haywood Valley and Chuck Campanelli of Teloga Community.

Graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 8th, at 11:00 A.M. in McWilliams Cemetery with Chaplain Rickey Studdard officiating; Pallbearers, Chuck Campanelli, Lowry Shaw, and Danny Reece.
