Mrs. Ruby B. Tinney Adams, age 91, of Trion, passed away Sunday, July 06, 

2014 at the Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Adams was born 

in Jackson County, Alabama on January 1, 1923, daughter of the late Rupert 

Coffey and Esther Alexander Coffey.  She was a member of the Pleasant Grove 

Church of Christ and was a homemaker.  Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by 

her first husband, Dwight Martin Tinney, Sr.; second husband, Governor 

Samuel “Bo” Adams; grandson, James Adams; brothers, James Coffey and 

Rupert Coffey; sisters, Gladys White, Johnnie Burrid, Julima Delaneyand Mary Ruth 

Sisk; and a brother-m-law, David Pedigo.
 
Mrs. Adams is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Dwight and Mary Tinney, 

Raymond and Shelia Adams and Raynard and DJ Adams; daughter, Gail Pedigo; 

grandchildren, Billy Adams, Krysta Adams, Brianna Adams, Kayla Godfrey, Jamie 

Crowder and Cindy Shurrock; great grandchildren, Brody Adams, Katie Taylor, 

Kerrie Taylor, Nikkie Crowder and Matthew Crowder; 3 great great grandchildren; 

and a number of nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral Services for Mrs. Adams will be held Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. 

in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Minister Hugh Glaze 

officiating.  Interment will follow in the Howell Cemetery.
 
Pallbearers will be Dennis Murdock, Billy Adams, Azell Burrows, and Michael Delaney.  

Honorary Pallbearers will be the staff of Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
 
Mrs. Adams will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the family will receive 

friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 9 P.M.

Mr. Eurnest Burl Dixson, age 87, of Henagar, AL, passed away 

Sunday, July 6, 2014. Mr. Dixson is survived by his Wife, Doris 

Jeffrey Dixson; Daughters, Donna Frazier; Sandra Smith; Terry 

Evans ; Sons, Rodney Dixson; Nathan Dixson; Sisters, Ruby Petitt, 

Janette Pope, Barbara Gail Tinsley, Nadiene Moore, Lavada Dean,

will  follow in the Unity cemetery. Mr. Dixson will be in state at the W.T.

MR. BOB S. SCOTT, age 76, of Dalton, Georgia, formerly of Cartersville, Summerville, and Rome, Georgia passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014, evening in a Dalton hospital. A native of Bartow County, Georgia, He was born on March 31, 1938 to the late Oscar Clifford and Iris Estell Ingram Scott. Mr. Scott was Baptist by Faith, served in the U.S. Army, and was retired accountant for Dalton Utilities. He was preceded in death by his wife, the late Jacquelin Marie Johnson Scott, to whom he married September 6, 1957; together they enjoyed writing choreography and teaching ballroom dancing since 1989.

Surviving are daughter-Vicki Marie Scott of Dalton; sons & daughter-in-law, Robert Van Scott and Michael & Amy Scott all of Rome; grandchildren-Johnathan Lee Scott, Christopher Michael Scott, and Rebecca Marie Scott.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 7th, at 11:00 A.M. from the Temple Baptist Church with Pastor Bret Yaeger officiating with eulogy by His daughter-in-law Amy Scott., interment in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, in Rome. MR. HILL W. BOHANNON, age 92, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, July 3, 2014, in a Rome hospital. A native Chattooga Countian, He was born to the late Samuel and Nellie Underwood Bohannon on May 23, 1922. He received a electrical engineer degree from Georgia Tech and later attending the University of Tennessee and was retired from the U. S. Weather Service. Mr. Bohannon was a combat Veteran of the United States Air Force, B17 Bomber pilot in WW II and Korea, and a prisoner of war during WW II. He was preceded in death by his wife, the late Madeline Davis Bohannon and a son the late Roger Bohannon.

Survivors include, son & daughter-in-law, Barry and Denise Bohannon; grandchildren, Rachel & Blake Payne all of Calhoun and Carrie Bohannon of Athens; great grandson, Bo Payne; several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 6th, at 4:00 P.M. from graveside in Summerville Cemetery, with Rev. Mark Kelly officiating, Active Pallbearers Gerald McCool, Herb Skelton, Terry Adams, Jon Payne, Leo Lanier, Randy Adnerson, Butch Eleam, and Jim Warnick; Military Honors by American Legion Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 of Rome. MR. WILLIAM E. “BILL” CORDLE, 82, of North Heights Circle, Summerville, Georgia, passed away Monday, July 1, 2014, in a Rome hospital. Born in Floyd County, Georgia on April 6, 1932, He was a son of the late Martin Levy and Eula Belle Davis Cordle. Mr. Cordle was a member of Midway Baptist Church and was retired Salesman and truck driver. He was preceded in death by a brother, the late Col. Robert L. Cordle.

Surviving are His wife, Frances Cordle; sisters and brother-in-law, Isabelle and Frank Campbell of Homer, Georgia and Emily Milstead of Rome; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

MRS. LESLIE FARMER LESTER – AGE 33, – Of Summerville, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome, Georgia.

She is survived by her husband, LaShaun D. Lester, Sr.; son, LaShaun D. Lester, Jr.; daughter, Zatorria Lester, all of Summerville; mother, Tommie Boykins; father Larry Farmer; brothers, Ladell Boykins and Kevin Boykins; sister, Keshia Farmer of Summerville; father-in-law, Vernon Thurman; mother-in-law, Sandra Thurman; grandfather-in-law, Robert Lester; sisters-in-law, DeShana (Brad) Mosley and Tonya (Brian Wiggins) Thurman; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Mrs. Louise Brown Helton, age 73, of Summerville, GA, died Sunday, June 29, 2014, at her residence.

Mrs. Helton was born February 20, 1941, in Trion, GA, daughter of the late Jack Lawrence Brown and Ava Fulmer Fetner.  She was a member of the Wayside Baptist Church and was a former president and member of the James H. Floyd State Park’s Friends of the Park.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Nettie Brown, and numerous aunts, uncles, and special relatives.

Mrs. Helton is survived by her husband, Thomas Robert Helton; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Sherrie Helton; daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Christopher McCleskey; brother, Gary Hinton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Howard Dillard, Lucy and Jason Edling; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

Memorial services for Mrs. Helton will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 2, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Knowles officiating.
