MR. CLIFFORD WESLEY “TIP” McCOLLUM, age 88, of Trion, Georgia passed away 

Wednesday morning, June 25, 2014, in a Rome hospital.  A native of Chattooga 

County, Georgia, He was born to the late John Wesley and Sarah Ovelle Barron 

McCollum on September 30, 1925.  Mr. McCollum was a member of the Trion First 

Baptist Church, a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WW II, and was retired Vice 

President of AmSouth Bank.
	

Surviving are His wife-Edith Morrow McCollum; daughter & companion, Ann 

McCollum and Terry Hawkins of Trion; son & daughter-in-law, John W. & June 

McCollum of Kennsington, GA; grandchildren, Emily & Travis Poole and Laura & 

Steven Butler; great grandson, Noah Butler; sister, Carolyn Dunwoody of LaFayette; 

special nephew, Greg Morrow; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.
	

Funeral services will held Sunday, June 29th, at 4:00 P.M. from the Trion First 

Baptist Church with Dr. Floyd Roebuck, Dr. Warren Morehead, and Rev. Mike 

Woods officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery.  Active pallbearers, Eric 

Dunwoody, Tom Morrow, Greg Morrow, Bryan Quintrell, Britt Evans, and Tim Chamlee; 

Honorary Pallbearers, Rick Morrow, David Ramsome, David Dunwoody, Curtis Nuckols, 

Jimmy Barron, Gordon McCollum, Billy McCollum, Terry Evans and Steve Evans, and the Men’s Sunday School Class of Trion First Baptist Church.  The Family 

will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 P.M. until the service hour at the Church.

MRS. LOUISE TUCKER KELLETT, age 98, of Oak View Nursing Nursing Home, 

Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014, in a Rome 

hospital.  Born in Cherokee County, Alabama on May 24, 1916, to the late 

Herman L. and Alice Warren Tucker.  She was a member of the West 

Summerville Baptist Church, and was retired from the spinning department 

of Harriett-Henderson Mills.  Mrs. Kellett was preceded in death by her 

husband, the late L. D. Kellett, sisters, Gertrude Kellett, Lois Willingham, 

and Nola Watkins; brothers, Fred Tucker, Gene Tucker, Clyde Tucker.
	
Surviving are step daughter, Patricia Cooper; sisters-in-law, Jo Peace and 

Hughbelle Tucker; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.
	
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 28th, at 3:00 P.M. from the 

J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. 

Tommy Seay and Mr. Scott Ward officiating, interment in Greenhills 

Memory Garden.  Active Pallbearers Stacy Tucker, Greg, Tucker, Larry

MRS. FRANCES THOMAS HARDEMAN, age 89, of Allen Street-Summerville, Georgia 

passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014, in a Rome health care.  A lifetime resident 

of Chattooga County, Georgia, She was born on February 2, 1925, a daughter of 

the late John Newton and Julia Elizabeth Johnson Thomas.  Mrs. Hardeman was a 

member of Summerville First Baptist Church since age 9 years and was retired 

accounts payable clerk for the former Georgia Rug Mill.  She was preceded in 

death by her husband the late R.C. (Rod) Hardeman, Sr., a son the late Rodney C. 

Hardeman, Jr.
	

Surviving are son and daughters-in-law-Gary R. and Arlene Hardeman and 

Jan Hardeman all of Summerville; three Grandchildren, four Great Grandchildren, 

several Nieces and Nephews.
	

Funeral will be held Saturday, June 21st, at 1:30 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial 

Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, with Dr. Paul Mason, Rev. Doyle Waters, 

and Dr. David Hunter officiating; Interment in the family plot of Summerville

Mr. Earl Jerome Smith, age 92 of Summerville, Georgia, passed away Monday, June 16, 2014 at his residence.  Mr. Smith was born in Cherokee County, Alabama on September 18, 1921, son of the late David Oscar Smith and Janie Marie Ledford.  He was an active member of the New Hope North Baptist Church where he was Chairman of the Deacon Board, and was happy to serve in any capacity, whether it be a teaching Sunday School or leading the Choir.  Mr. Smith had been resident fo the Teloga Community since 1949 and was an organizing member of the board of directors for the Teloga Volunteer Fire Department.  He was instrumental in getting water lines and gas lines run into the Teloga Community.  Mr. Smith was an avid gardener, and a huge Braves Baseball Fan. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the 516^th Signal Air Wing of the United States Army, during which time he was briefly held as a Prisoner of War.  Prior to his retirement, Mr. Smith was employed with Riegel Textile, and later, the Roper Corporation, where he was a press operator.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Eleam Smith; infant brother, Jimmy Ray Smith, and sisters, Nelda Clowdis, Hazel Nixon, and Faye Logan. 

Mr. Smith is survived by a son, Terry Don Smith; daughter, Linda Arlene Posey; sisters, Ann Earveen Bailey of Trion and Essie Sue Rogers of Tampa; Special friend, Lou Ellen Durham; three grandchildren, Amy Shy Smith, Jeffery Michael Posey and Mary Ann and Jeff Maddux; great grandchildren, Brendan Smith, Kassandra Posey, Jaylyn Gann Posey, McKenzie Hudgins, Braden Maddux, Tori Maddux and Tatum Maddux; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Randy Hunter, Mark Schrader, Sammy Lee, Wayne Logan,  Tim Thompson, B. J. Eleam and Ricky Avans.Honorary Pallbearers will be members of New Hope North Baptist Church, Teloga Volunteer Fire Dept., Special Care Giver, Lisa and Quinton Watson,  Wayne and Jill Durham, and all neighbors and friends.  

Funeral Services for Mr. Smith will be held Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Bro. Gary “Bucky” Brown and Bro. Randy Avans  officiating.  Interment will follow in the Garrett Cemetery.   Mr. Smith will be in  state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Wednesday evening, June 18, 2014 from 6 until 9 P.M.

On Monday, June 16, 2014, MILDRED LANE WILKERSON passed from this life into 

the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  She was born August 21, 1918

 to the late Charlie Gordon and Lucy Peyton Lane.  She was a lifeline resident of

 Trion, Georgia where she graduated as Valedictorian from Trion High School in 

1935.  She was owner and operator of Wilkerson’s Grocery Store in the Mountain

 View Community for many years and an active member of Central Avenue Baptist 

Church where she taught Sunday School.  She was a blessing and an inspiration 

to all who knew her, both family and friends.
	She was the widow of the late Russell “Shorty” Wilkerson who went to the

 Father’s house January 28, 1998.  They were married 61 years at the time of 

his death.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a

 daughter, Judith Ann Wilkerson Childers, February 9, 2000, her husband,

 Bill Childers, June, 2011, and a granddaughter, Tammy Harrison, four

 sisters, Velma Lane, Edna Pritchett, Alene McConkey, and Verna Adams, 

one brother, Robert “Rocky” Lane.
	She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Doris & Paul Purcell 

of Trion, Mary & Jerry Fuller of Rome; grandsons & wives, Don & Patti Purcell, 

Bobby Purcell, Tony & Lisa Fuller, Wayne Childers, Jerry Childers; granddaughter, 

Melanie Falls; two “Special” Granddaughters, Leslie Fuller and Donna Childers; 

13 Great Grandchildren; 2 Great Great Grandsons; 1 Great Great Granddaughter; 

1 brother & wife, Clarence & Ozene Lane of Henagar, AL.; Nieces and Nephews 

also survive.
	Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 18th, at 11:00 A.M. from 

the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Bud Davis, 

Rev. Brandon Bishop, and Rev. Kevin Norton officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery.
