Mr. David Dwight Stancil, 68, of Douglasville, GA died Wednesday, January 29, 2014, in Austell, GA.

Mr. Stancil was born August 18, 1945 in Rhinehart, AL, the son of the late Chester Lee Stancil and Flora Bradley Stancil. He was a member of Higher Ground Baptist Church. Mr. Stancil was retired from Anasteel, where he was employed as a truck drive. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Donald Stancil and Lisa Stancil; six brothers, and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Stancil; daughter and son-in-law, Melisa Singley and Dwayne Hubbs; sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley and Annette Stancil, Wayne and Shirley Stancil, and Shane Singley; 8 Grandchildren; and 4 Great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Summy and Rev. Kevin Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Needmore Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Travis Stancil, Michael Lee Stancil, Michael Singley, Marshall Singley, Joseph Maney, and Billy Piepmeier. MRS. FREDDIE MAE ALLEN KIRBY – AGE 69, Of Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Oak View Nursing Home with her family at her bedside. She was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her son, James Edward Kirby and parents,

She is survived by devoted husband, James H. Kirby, Jr.; two daughters, Cynthia (Brannon) Harris and Latonia (Coby) Smith; two sons, Walter (Tina) Kirby and Michael Kirby; five grandchildren, Latasha Kirby, Codie Kirby, Marquez Kirby, Azariah Smith, Aaliyah Smith; one great grandchild, Semaj Kirby; one sister, Nancy (Gene) Kirby; a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

MRS. HELEN C. HUDSON, age 89, of Rome, Georgia former longtime resident of Summerville, passed away Monday, January 27, 2014, in a Rome health care. She was born on December 16, 1924 to the late William Richard and Rosa Dell Estes Chappelear. Mrs. Hudson was a member and former pianist, for many years, of Summerville First Baptist Church; she was retired from the Georgia Rug Mill and was preceded in death by her husband, the late Wilburn Hudson, sister, the late Mary Dell Welch, and Patricia  Ann Holiday and brother, the late Henry Chappelear.

Surviving are daughter-Cheryl Allen of Rome; sons-Kelly Hudson of Cedar Bluff, AL., and Richard Hudson of California; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 31st, at 11:30 A.M. from the Summerville First Baptist Church with Rev. Doyle Waters officiating, interment in Greenhills Memory Garden. Mr. Emmett Dooley, age 91, of Summerville, GA died Monday, January 27, 2014 at his residence.

 Mr. Dooley was born June 4, 1922, in Buchannon, GA, the son of the late William F. and Essie Davis Dooley.  He was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills, where he had worked as a dye mixer.  He was a member of Dry Valley Baptist Church.  Mr. Dooley was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in WWII, during the battle of Normandy where he received a purple heart.

Mrs. Ada Katherine McGuire, age 91, of Summerville, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2016 at the Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. McGuire was born in Lafayette, Georgia on DECEMBER 9, 1922, daughter of the late Jim Thompson and Maggie Thompson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Dry Valley Baptist Church. Mrs. McGuire was preceded in death by her first husband, Allen Lester Croy, Sr; second husband, Milton McGuire; children, Ray Lane Croy, Otis Croy, Richard Croy, Allen Lester Croy, Jr., Harlon Croy and Rosa Crider; sisters, Audrey Weaver, Syble Williams, Mable Kirby, and Pauline Coulter; and brothers, Odel Thompson, Johnny Thompson, and Melvin Thompson.

Mrs. McGuire is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Hershel and Glenda Croy, Jimmy and Janice Croy and Robert and Dianne Croy, Tommy McGuire and Billy McGuire; daughter and son-in-law, Ethel and Ted DeBerry; daughter and help mate, Barbara Goss and Ralph Stansell; brother, Fred Thompson; sister, Ailene Thompson; 20 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, numerous great great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. McGuire will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. David Pettyjohn officiating. Interment will follow in the Subligna Cemetery.

Mrs. Opal Mae Sprayberry, age 85, of Trion, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at her residence.

Mrs. Sprayberry was born on September 6, 1928 in Rome, Georgia. She was a member of the Trion First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Lydia Sunday School Class. Mrs. Sprayberry was an avid gardener and love to collect Tea Pots. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Jones Sprayberry.

Mrs. Sprayberry is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Rachael Sprayberry of Midlothian, VA and Ricky and Carolyn Sprayberry of Trion; Sisters-in-law, Margarette Hall of Cedar Bluff and Esther Stephens of Centre, AL; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Tommy) Michaelides and Michael Sprayberry; two great grandchildren, Andrew Michaelides and Alexander Michaelides; and a number nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Sprayberry will be held Sunday, January 26, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. David Hayes and Rev. Rickey Studdard officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

MR. ROBERT MOSER, age 85, of Back Penn Road-Summerville, 

Georgia passed away Tuesday, (January 21, 2014) evening

 in a Rome hospital.  A native of Chicago, Illinois, He was 

born on March 4, 1928 a son of the late Rudolph and Mary

 Moser.  Mr. Moser served in the U. S. Army Signal Corps 

during Korea, was retired from the U.S. Postal Service,

and was preceded in death by his wife the late Bessie

 M. Raines Moser, and brothers, the late Rudolph

 Moser and the late Raymond Moser.
 
Surviving are sister-in-law- Alice Moser of 

McHenry, Ill; several Nieces, Nephews, Grand Nieces 

and Grand Nephews also survive.
 
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 25th,

 at 3 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle 

Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Art Graves officiating,

 interment in West Hill Cemetery.  The Family

Mrs. Nancy Adnia “Abb” McDowell, age 90, of Summerville, GA (formerly of Roanoke, VA) died Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Alex Hosmer.

Mrs. McDowell was born June 17, 1923 in Schoolfield, VA, the daughter of the late Oscar Adrian Collins and Nancy Harriett Boyd Collins. She was a social worker and school teacher for the Indian River County Schools. Mrs. McDowell was a member of Lee Street Baptist Church, Danville, VA. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Joe McDowell; sister, Nell Thompson, special friend, Corky Hubbard; special cousin, Eddie Parrish; and other dear ones.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Lynn McDowell; daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Alex Hosmer; grandchildren, Jessica Fleming, Zoe McDowell, and Joseph McDowell; and one great grandchild, Elizabeth Cook.

Graveside and interment services for Mrs. McDowell will be held at 11:00 a. m. Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Macedonia Cemetery. Rev. Billy Dempsey will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be Kelsey Gary, Tia Hall, Lisa Hampton, and friends from Floyd Home Health.

Mr. Eugene Monroe Simpson, age 85, of Summerville, GA, passed away Sunday January 19, 2014, in Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Simpson was born August 25, 1928 in Coosa, GA, the Livingston Community, the son of the late Marshall Monroe and Lettie Jackson Simpson.  He was a farmer and a retired truck driver.

Other than his parents he was preceded  in death by his wife, Carrie Ann Atkins Simpson, and a daughter, Nancy Warren.

Survivors include his Sons and Daughters-in-law, Larry and Carol Simpson, Quinn and Debbie Simpson, Victor and Lisa Simpson, Grandchildren, Ross Simpson, Samantha Wooten, Wesley Warren, Kristin Burrage, Great-grandchildren, Felix Warren, Anna Wooten.

Funeral service will be held 7:00p.m. Monday January 20, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel  with Rev. Clyde Hampton officiating with interment in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, Rome, GA,  11:00 a.m. Tuesday,  January 21, 2014.  Active pallbearers, Shawn McCary, John Dawson, Dewayne  Dawson, Mike Dawson, Chad Barnes, Robert Moore, Willie Johnson, Dennis McCary.
