Mr. Harold L. “Pee Wee” Cochran Obit (M)

Mr. Harold L. “Pee Wee” Cochran, age 57, of Trion, GA died Monday, January 13, 2014 at his residence.

Mr. Cochran was born April 26, 1956 in Trion, GA, the son of the late Leonard Cochran and Georgia Goodson Cochran. He was employed with Mt. Vernon Mills. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Gavin Cochran.

Survivors include a son, Harold Cochran, SR; daughters, Toni Cochran and Mary Cochran; brothers, Robert Cochran and Terry Cochran; sisters, Linda Hunt, Deborah Price, Angie Dooley, and Wanda Chaney; and grandchildren, April Cochran and Shayla Cochran.

Mr. Cochran will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 11:00 a. m. until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Mr. John Lewis Farley Obit (M)

Mr. John Lewis Farley, age 69, of Summerville, GA died Sunday, January 12, 2014, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Farley was born December 14, 1944 in Delbarton, West Virginia, the son of the late Ira Farley and Pearl Maynard Anderson. He was a carpenter and had worked at Roper Corporation. Mr. Farley was a member of the Summerville Pentecostal Worship Center. Other than his parents, Mr. Farley was preceded in death by his step-father, Alec Anderson; sister, Lahoma Vance; and brothers, Samuel Greenway Farley, and Charles Alex Anderson.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Lou Farley; son, Darold Dugger, Jon Farley, Jeffery Farley; daughters, Carol Ann Farley, Susan Bryson, Christina Pierce, Mary Rice, and Vera Rice; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy and Mose Marcum, Ruby and Don Stevens, Sherry and Dan Graves, and Dollie Anderson; brothers and sister-in-law, John and Glynell Anderson, and Virgil Ray Anderson; 18 Grandchildren; and 15 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the Summerville Pentecostal Worship Center, with Rev. Andy Hutchins officiating. Burial will follow in Subligna Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Michael Leming, Cameron Gazaway, Ryan Bryson, Randy Bryson, James Farley, and Kaiden Garrett Farley. Honorary pallbearer is Chris Bryson.

 

Mr. Farley will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Tuesday, January 14, 2014. He will also lie in state at the Summerville Pentecostal Church from 10:30 until 11:00 a. m. on Wednesday

 

Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Baker Obit (M)

Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Baker, age 93, of Menlo, GA, died January 11, 2014, at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Baker was born October 29, 1920, in Gaylesville, AL, daughter of the late James Donald and Myrtle Bell Abernathy Espy.  She was a member of the Menlo First Baptist Church, and prior to her retirement, was employed at Best Manufacturing.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold “Jim” Baker; brothers, Emmett Espy, Joe Espy, Elbert Espy, Donald “Loy” Espy, and Wallace “Watt” Espy; sisters, Mildred Baker and Edna Roper.

Mrs. Baker is survived by her daughters and son-in-law; Barbara Ann and Fred Eller, Jimmie Sue Kirby; sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Tab Dempsey; grandchildren, Dee Anna Ward, Abby and Jerry Scott, Stacy and Pam Rinehart, and Kelly Kirby; 9 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Baker will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 14, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Dempsey and Rev. Tom Russell officiating.  Burial will follow in the AMI Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Stacy Rinehart, Kelly Kirby, Jerry Scott, Phillip Dempsey, Harrison Scott, and Justin Swords.

Mrs. Carolyn Geneva Gentry Obit (C)

Mrs. Carolyn Geneva Gentry, age 78, of the Little Sand Mountain Community, passed away January 12, 2014 at her residence following an extended illness.

Mrs. Gentry was born in Armuchee, Georgia on March 18, 1935, daughter of the late Huston Cargle and Mamie Grace Ward Cargle. She was a 1953 graduate of Summerville High School. Mrs. Gentry attended the Ebenezer Baptist Church, and prior to retirement, was an office manager for Tri-Valley Growers in Los Banos, California, and was a payroll administrator for the Northwest Regional Medical Center in Rome, GA. She was a member of the Dos Palos Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Gentry was preceded in death by two brothers, Huston Cargle, Jr. and Billy Hugh Cargle; and two sisters, Dorothy Milam and Lola Mae Mathis.

Mrs. Gentry is survived by her husband, James A. "Sarge" Gentry of Armuchee; son and daughter-in-law, James Edward and Kathy Gentry of Armuchee; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Ann and Gary Kee of Merced, California; brothers and sister-in-law, James Oliver Cargle and Hugh Carlton and Gumelda Cargle; Sister, Thelma Ruth Rench; 8 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Gentry will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Scoggins officiating. Interment will follow in the Little Sand Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers will be Nephews and include: Tommy Cargle, Mike Rench, Tony Rench, Stanley Cargle, Billy Rench, Terry Cargle, Steve Morgan, Derick Milam, Rusty Gill, Thomas Gill, Jason Childers and Chris Cargle.

Mrs. Kathleen Davenport, age 86, of Trion, GA, died Friday, January 10, 2014 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Davenport was born December 3, 1927, in Lyerly, GA, daughter of the late William Taylor and Mary Elvara Brooks Tallent.  She was a member of the Dry Valley Baptist Church, and prior to her retirement, was employed with Mount Vernon Mills where she was also a member of the Quarter Century Club.

Mrs. Davenport is survived by her husband, Vester Huland Davenport; son and daughter-in-law, James W. and Linda York; daughters, Mary York Hudson, Susan T. Edwards; sister, Katheryn Tallent Barton; 3 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Graveside and interment services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, January 13, 2014, from the Greenhills Memory Gardens with Rev. Gary Howell officiating.  Pallbearers will be Randall Martin, Kevin York, Steven Barton, Terry Davenport, Jerry Davenport, and Floyd Davenport, Jr.

Mrs. Mary Evelyn Lea Helton, age 64, of Lyerly, GA, died Friday, January 10, 2014, at her residence.

Mrs. Helton was born June 12, 1949, in Chelsea, GA, daughter of the late Robert E. and Unasee Taylor Lea.  She had been employed with Harriett and Henderson Yarns and with Ingles.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Lee “Jerry” Helton; brothers, Herschel Lea, Ray Lea, Terry Lea, David Lea, and Jimmy Lea; a sister, Naomi Jo Moses; and a nephew, Tommy Taylor Dye.

Mrs. Helton is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Kim Helton; brothers, Andrew Lea and Alvie Lea; sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret Ward, Glenda and Steve Eden, Winona and Jerry Jackson, Carole and Terry Ramey; brother-in-law, Robert and Louise Helton; sister-in-law, Martha & Bill Rogers; grandchildren, Stefan Helton, Tommy Motley, and Daniel Motley; special neighbors, Danny and Charlotte Mosley; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Clarice Mae Bowling Ingle, age 84, of Summerville, GA, died Thursday,
January 9, 2014 at Oakview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
 
Mrs. Ingle was born May 11, 1929, in Tallapoosa, GA, the daughter of the late
Claude Bowling and Ida Kilgore Bowling.  She was retired from Wal-Mart.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Marie Nix Horne
and Betty Daniel.
 
Mrs. Ingle is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Bill Croy; and
a sister, Virginia Holliday.
 
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p .m. Sunday, January 12, 2014 at
Mason Funeral Home.  Pastor Chip Smith and Valerie Tuttle will officiate.
Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery.  Active pallbearers are Bryan Hankins,

Mr. Billy Burrage Complete Obit (C)

Mr. Billy Paul Burrage, age 61 of Summerville, passed away Friday, January 10, 2014 at the Kindred Hospital in Rome.

Mr. Burrage was born in Summerville, Georgia on September 22, 1952, son of the late Thomas Lester Burrage and Fannie Lorine Simpson Burrage. Prior to ill health, he was employed as a fixer with Color Spectrum. Mr. Burrage was preceded in death by a son, Billy Ray Burrage; sister, Bobbie JoAnn Goss and a brother, Donnie Clyde Burrage.

Mr. Burrage is survived by his wife, Nina Burrage of Summerville; son, William Burrage of LaFayette; daughter, Lorine Linam of Summerville; brothers, Hoyt Lee Burrage and Buddy Reynolds of LaFayette; sister, Faye Haney of Trion; grandchildren, Jonathan Broome, Zackery Burrage, A.J. Bentley, Jessica Bentley, Coby Broome, Brittney Broome and Austin Holbrook; one great grandchild, Jay Kirby; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Wooten was born December 5, 1927, in Chattanooga, TN, daughter of the late Oscar and Mae Barfield.  Prior to her retirement, she was employed with the Richie’s Department Store.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roland Lee Wooten; son, Ronnie Wooten; and brother, Cecil Barfield.

 

Mrs. Wooten is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Betty and Jerry Corbin, Vicki Thomas; a sister, Juanita “Cat” Lee; grandchildren, Chris and Stacy Corbin, Kim Thomas, Sonya Corbin, Kerry and Elizabeth Thomas, Rodney and Melanie Wooten; 9 great-grandchildren; and special children, Alexis and Gabe Howell.
