Mrs. Clara Chandler Ware Obit (M)

Mrs. Clara Chandler Ware, age 83, of Trion, GA passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Hutcheson Medical Center.

Mrs. Ware was born February 11, 1930.  She was the daughter of the late Alfred Chandler and Della Mae Lancaster Chandler.  Mrs. Ware was formerly employed at Wometco. She was a member of Welcome Hill Baptist Church.  Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Ware; a step-son, Charles Lee Ware; a step-daughter; Vicki Diane Sparks; and a sister, Thelma Chandler Johnson.

Mrs. Ware is survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Anne and Leonard Meadows and Nell and Walter Love; step-grandchildren, Chad Campbell and Adam Gorham; 6 Step-Great-grandchildren; Nieces, Nephews; and a special friend, Mildred Adams.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ware will be held at 3:30 p. m. Sunday, January12, 2014, at Mason Funeral Home Chapel, with Tony Samples and Rev. Terry Shores officiating.  Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery.  Active pallbearers are Jeff Meadows, David Meadows, Phil Meadows, Michael Gilreath, Ethan Bradley, and Jerry Johnson.  Honorary pallbearers will be her Welcome Hill Church Family, and Nieces and Nephews.

Mrs. Ware will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Saturday, January 11,2 014. At other hours the family will be at 813 Oakhill Drive, Trion, GA.

Mrs. Myra Geraldine Kellett, Obit. (M)

Mrs. Myra Geraldine Kellett, age 81, of Summerville, Ga passed away

Sunday, January 5, 2014 at her residence.

Mrs. Kellett was born February 12, 1932 in Summerville, Ga, the daughter

of the late Elbert and Ollie Roberts Fletcher. She was a homemaker and

a member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church. Other than her parents, she was

preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Rev. John F. Kellett.

Mrs. Kellett is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, John F. Kellett,

Jr and Mi Kellett, Andrew and Cynthia Kellett, Billy and LInda Kellett,

and Jason and Susie Kellett; daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and

Tommy Hawkins, Nansi and Scott Sparks; sisters, Laura Woods and

Shirley Elsworth; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014

at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Andrew Kellett officiating.

Burial will follow in New Hope South Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbeares will be Scott Crowe, Peter Kellett, Jason Kellett, Scott Sparks,

Jr, Justin Huiet, Joseph Kellett, J.J. Starkey, and Greg Henderson.

Mr. Dennis Lee Howard Obit (ER)

DENNIS LEE HOWARD, age 61, of Raymond Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at his residence following an illness. Born in Chattooga County, Georgia on May 1, 1952, He was a son of the late Horace Edward Howard and Betty Ruth McCollum Howard who survives. Mr. Howard was retired from the packing department of Mt. Vernon Mills; he had also previously worked with Bigelow-Sanford and later Mohawk Mills.

Surviving are His wife-Melanie Howard; Mother-Betty McCollum Howard of Trion; daughters and spouse’s-Faith and Jerry Wigley of Trion, Jennifer and Kevin Brinkley, Sr. of Summerville; step daughters Sherri Arnold of Summerville, Latoya Adams of Mississippi, and Ashley Adams of Summerville; sons-Jamey Arnold of Lebanon, PA, Tyrone Adams of Rome; sisters-Diane and Riley Flowers of Macon and Donna Slayton of Trion; brother-David and Kathie Howard of LaFayette; 8 Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday(January 11th) at 3 P.M. at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Bennett and Rev. Sanford Deberry officiating, interment in Greenhills Memory Garden. Miss Robbie Lee Brewer Obit (M)

Miss Robbie Lee Brewer, age 80, of Trion, GA passed away Friday, January 03, 2014 at Floyd Medical Center.

Miss Brewer was born June 16, 1933 in South Pittsburg, TN, the daughter of the late Horace and Clara Jones Brewer.  Miss Brewer was a published author and owner of Brewer Books, Inc.

Other than her parents, Miss Brewer was preceded in death by a son, Mickey McClure Hames and her life partner, Mr. Gil Terry.  Survivors include her children, Sheila Gail Hames Hartline, Gaylon Daryl Hames, and Charles Andrew Hames; a sister, Billie Faye Crane; grandchildren, Shelly Gail Hartline Roberts, Andrew Willys Hames, and Roby Lee Fay Hames; and 4 Great Grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Burial was held at Ami Cemetery.

Mr. James H. Wright Obit

Mr. James H. Wright, age 84, of Mentone, AL, formerly of Summerville, GA, died Sunday, January 5, 2014, at his residence.

Mr. Wright was born July 12, 1929, in Gadsden, AL, son of the late James B. and Nellie Garret Wright.  He served in the U. S. Air Force, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Bekaert Steel.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Wright was preceded in death by his companion, Margaret Wright; sisters, Dorothy Fulmer and Kathrine Mitchell; brother, Tommy Wright; and a grandson, Tim Anderson.

Mr. Wright is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Edward Hamilton, Lynn and Steve Flannigan, Susan and Dale Asbell, Kim and Ronnie Turner; sisters, Mattieann Williams and Syble Hopper; 5 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Graveside and interment services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 8, 2014, from the Greenhills Memory Gardens with Rev. Charles Flannigan officiating.  Pallbearers will be Edward Hamilton, Steve Flannigan, Ronnie Turner, Justin Crowe, Joe Denson, and Mike Fulmer.

Mr. Wright will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the service hour on Wednesday.

Mr. Joe Pless, Obit (ER)

Mr. Joe Pless, age 79, of Menlo, Ga, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2014

in a Rome, Ga hospital. Born in Menlo, Ga on October 5, 1934, He was a son

of the late Earnest Lee and Kate Alexander Pless. Mr. Pless was a member of

Cloudland Presbyterian Church, served in the U.S. Marine Corps for ten years,

and along with His wife, Sara, originated the Lookout Restaurant in Cloudland,

Ga.

Surviving are His wife, Sara Kling Pless; daughter – Julia Pless Houson of 

Summerville; son – John Pless of Cloudland; grandchildren – Paul Battles,

Jessica Green, and Cody Pless; great grandchildren – Taj Battles, Ivan

Battles and Zackery Green; several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 8th, at 1:00 p.m. from the

Cloudland Presbyterian Church with Pastor Todd Threlkeld officiating, eulogy

by Mr. Robert Houston. Active Pallbearers Tommy Gifford, Johnny Etchison, Tom

Kling, Cody Pless, Paul Battles, Joseph Green and Taj Battles. The Family will

receive friends Tuesday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Funeral Home; Mr. Pless will

also be in state at the Church from 12 noon until the Funeral hour, Wednesday.

Mr. James “Jimmy” Bolds – Age 68, – of Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, January 2, 2014 at his residence. He was a member of West Fifth Street Church of Christ and was preceded in death by his parents, Early and Meadie Westfield Bolds, three brothers, and two sisters.

He is survived by his brother Clyde W.(Gloria) Bolds of Atlanta, Georgia; one sister, Charles Regina Cosby of Kings Parks, New York; sister-in-law, Louise Bolds of New Bern, North Carolina; one aunt, Bobbie Lander of Texas; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

 

Homegoing Service will be Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the West Fifth Street Church of Christ with Rev. John Lewis as the Eulogist, and Bro. J.J. Bankston, presiding. Mrs. Mary Lois Willingham Barnes, age 89, of Summerville, GA died Thursday, January 02, 2014

at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Barnes was born March 27, 1924 in Summerville, GA.  She was the daughter of the late

William Arthur Willingham and Lydia Cash Willingham.  Mrs. Barnes was a homemaker.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death her husband, Buddy Barnes; daughter,

Patricia Carroll; granddaughter, Lisa Hunter; sisters, Mable Johnson, Annie May Dempsey,

and Jessie Rhinehart; brothers, Wilburn Willingham, Arthur Willingham, Blue Willingham, and

L. D. Willingham.

Survivors include her daughter, Pam McCarty; sons and daughters-in-law, Hank and

Barbara Barnes, Mike and Angie Barnes, and Dennis Barnes; 13 Grandchildren; and

32 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m.  Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Mason Funeral

Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin Norton officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory

MRS. SUE ELLEN KELLETT, age 66, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, January 2, 2014, in a Rome, Georgia hospital. She was born in Floyd County, Georgia on August 6, 1947 and was a daughter of the late Roy Gross and Ellen Harbour Gross Harvey, who survives. Mrs. Kellett was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her brother, the late Sonny Gross.

Surviving are Her husband, Ricky Kellett; Mother, Ellen Harbrour Harvey of Rome; daughters, Suzanne Woods of Trion, Kristy Krueger of Summerville, and Cathy Stallings of North Pole, Alaska; son, Lee Roy Kellett, III of Summerville; sister, Peggy Williams of Rome; grandchildren, Amanda Blair, Jarrod Stallings, Joshua Kellett, Anna Krueger, Jacob Stallings, Kyle Krueger, and Justin Stallings; several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 4th, at 1 PM from the J. D.
