Mrs. Teressa D. Green Obit (ER)

MRS. TERESSA D. GREEN, age 63, of Smith Rail Road, Summerville, Georgia , Perennial Springs Community, passed away Friday, June 8. 2012, at Her residence. Born in LaFayette, Georgia on June 27, 1948, She was a daughter of the late Ray H. Shipp. Mrs. Green was a member of the Berryton Church of God and was preceded in death by her husband the late Ray Green and a son , the late Joey Green.

Surviving are son, Marty Green and Cheryl McGuire; granddaughter-Marti Green all of Summerville; mother-Myrtis Swift Ftizpatrick of LaFayette; sister-Anita Johnston of Summerville; goddaughter & great godson-Shelby Williams and Gabriel Dooley of Trion; several Nieces and Nephews.

 

 Funeral services will be held Monday, June 11th, at 2 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Rutledge and Rev. W. E. Cox officiating, interment in Perennial Springs Cemetery. Active Pallbearers, Chris Blanks, Olen Woody, Rick Green, Brandon Croy, Ronnie Croy, and Terry Woody. The Family will receive friends 6 until 8 P.M. Sunday at the Funeral Home.

 

Mrs. Clara Nell Hester Obit (M)

Mrs. Clara Nell Hester, age 87, of Menlo, GA died Friday, June 08, 2012
at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
 
Mrs. Hester was born August 1, 1924 in Alpine, GA, the daughter of the
Late Tom Carter and Maude Chapplear Carter.  She was retired from Best
Manufacturing.  Her husband, Buddy Hester died earlier.
 
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Ernie and Debbie Hester;
sister, Willie Mae Hogg; grandchildren, Stacey and Emily Roach, Adam and
Ashley Hester; great-grandchildren, Grace, Grant, and Gabbie Roach, and
Owen Hester; and Nephews.
 
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Saturday, June 9, 2012 at
Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Min. Berlin Murphy officiating.
Burial will follow in Alpine Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Adam Hester, Stacey Roach, Kenny Hogg, Loren Hogg, and Wesley Battles.  Honorary pallbearers will be Junior Ward and Jerry Hogg.

Mr. Douglas Leon Mathis Obit (M)

Mr. Douglas Leon Mathis, age 65, of Armuchee, GA died Thursday, June 7, 2012 from injuries received in an automobile accident.
 
Mr. Mathis was born December 26, 1946 in Rome, GA, the son of the late Henry
Eugene Mathis and Hattie Lee King Mathis.  He was a farmer and a Board Member of Farm Bureau and a member of Young Farmers.  He was a member of Little Sand Mountain Baptist Church.  Mr. Mathis was a veteran of the United
States Army, having served in Vietnam.
 
Survivors include his wife, Sue Mathis; son and daughter-in-law,
Tim and Leann Mathis; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Chris Godfrey;
grandchildren, Haley Mathis, Blake Mathis, and Chandler Godfrey.
 
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p. m. Sunday, June 10, 2012 at
Little Sand Mountain Baptist Church, with Rev. Larry McCoy officiating.
Burial will follow in the Little Sand Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery
with full military honors by Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 Honor Guard.
Active pallbearers will be Greg Hurley, John Lowery, William Cargle,
Bill Turner, Stacy Gray, William Mitchell, Tommy Cargle and Marion Carter.
Honorary pallbearers will be Local Farmers and all Personal Friends.
 
Mr. Mathis will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will
receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Saturday, June 9, 2012.
He will also lie in state at the church from 3:00 p. m. until the service hour on

Mr. Gladstone Lee Burnett Obit (M)

Mr. Gladstone Lee Burnett, age 93, of Trion, GA died Thursday, June 07, 2012
at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
 
Mr. Burnett was born October 24, 1918 in Fort Payne, AL, the son of the late
Henry Burnett and Lela Huskey Burnett.  He was retired from Cook’s Pest
Control.  He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.  Mr. Burnett had
served for many years in the track ministry.  Other than his parents, he was
preceded in death by his 1st wife, Pearl Burnett and his 2nd wife, Thelma Edwards Burnett;brothers, Robert Burnett and Hoyt Burnett; sisters, Lorene Burnett and Irene King.
 
Mr. Burnett is survived by a brother, Clifford Burnett.
 
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Friday, June 8, 2012 at Mason
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.Todd Threkeld officiating.  Burial will follow
in Greenhills Memory Gardens.  Active pallbearers will be Randy Burnett, Danny
Burnett, Jessie Blansit, Richard White, Gary Wells, and Allen Green.  Honorary

 Mr. Len Earl Sparks, age 81, of Trion, GA died Thursday, June 07, 2012 at his
residence.
 
Mr. Sparks was born April 18, 1931 in Cherokee County, AL, the son of the late
Voy Sparks and Edgel Dockery Sparks.  He was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills
where he had worked in the spinning department and security. Mr. Sparks was a member of Pennville Church of Christ and Tri County Coon Hunters Association.  He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War.  Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Sherrill Sparks.
 
Mr. Sparks is survived by his wife, Rachel Sparks; son and wife, Jack and Karen
Sparks; daughter and husband, Delaine and Nolan Crisp; sister, Darnell Amico;
brothers, Wayne Sparks, Dale Sparks, and Garlis Sparks; grandchildren and
husbands, Misty and Robert McQuese, Lori and Anthony McWhorter, Brittany
Sparks, and Nathaniel Sparks; great grandchildren, Noah McQuese, Eli McQuese, and Will McWhorter.
 
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m Monday, June 11, 2012 at Pennville Church of Christ with Min Robbie Eversole and Min. Tommy Broome officiating.  Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Randy Young, Stanley Mann, Brian Sparks, Michael Sparks, Sam Mann, and Alan Mann.  Honorary pallbearers will be all members of Pennville Church of Christ, David Shadrick and Charles Shadrick.

Mr. James Edward Vaugh Obit (M)

Mr. James Edward Vaughn, age 81, of Summerville, GA, passed away Friday at his residence. Mr. Vaughn was born July 23, 1930, in Walker County Georgia, the son of the late Ted Edward and Bertha Mae Tucker Vaughn. He was preceded in death by brothers, Roy Vaughn, Troy Vaughn, sisters, Myrtle Hughes, Edna Bryson, Jessie Dean, Ozell Caldwell, Beatrice Hicks, and was a retired carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Opal Helton Vaughn, sons, Kenneth Vaughan, and Michael “Moto” Vaughn, sister Geraldene Middleton, brother, L.D. Vaughn, 3 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday May 3, 2012 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lillard Stringer officiating with interment in the Summerville Cemetery. Active pallbearers, Kevin Vaughn, Jacob Vaughn, Josh Vaughn, Scotty Vaughn, Stacy Nixon, Joe Fay Denson. Mr. Marcus Leon Lenderman, age 84, of Summerville, GA died Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at his home.
 
Mr. Lenderman was born September 17, 1927 in Gadsden, AL, the son of the late
Horace Lenderman and Arness Rainwater Lenderman.  He was retired from Bigelow-Sanford.  Mr. Lenderman was a veteran of the United States Navy,
having served in WWII.  Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by
a son, Marcus Lee Lenderman; and brothers, James Lenderman and Doyle
Lenderman.
 
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Lenderman; son and daughter-in-law, Phil and Becky Lenderman; sister, Ann Coleman; grandchildren, Carter Lee
Lenderman, Kelly Lenderman, Wendy and Chad Wells; great-grandchildren, Jake Holden Wells, Caitlin Wells, and Barrett Smith.
 
Graveside and interment services will be held at 4:30 p. m. Friday, June 1, 2012 at Summerville Cemetery with Jimmy Lenderman officiating.  Pallbearers will
be Chad Wells, Jake Wells, Chuck Shields, Jimmy Lenderman, and Harold
Gordon.

Mrs. Judith Rebecca Watson Obit (M)

Mrs. Judith Rebecca Watson, age 67, of Trion, Georgia passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.

 Mrs. Watson was born in Rossville, Georgia on September 27, 1944, daughter of the late John Ledford and Ruby Taylor Ledford.  Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a Nurse’s Aide at the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  Mrs. Watson was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Watson, Jr.; brothers, Glazier Ledford, Leonard Ledford, and Raymond Ledford; sister, Geraldine Lofty, and a son, Donald Seckinger.

 Mrs. Watson is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Adele Watson, and Alison Faye Little; son-in-law, Scott Bennett; daughter-in-law, Treasie Eggerichs all of Trion; brothers and sisters-in-law, Luther (Bud) and Kathy Ledford of Chickamauga, Lonnie (Butch) and Karen Ledford of Florence, AL, and Leon Ledford of Lafayette; sister, Marie and Leonard (Sonny) Mayez of Chickamauga; and a number of nieces and nephews.

 Funeral Services for Mrs. Watson will be held Friday, June 1, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Wright and Rev. Bill Proctor officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

 Pallbearers will be Dakota McGuire, Michael Watson, David Dean, Rusty Tucker and Bill Tapp.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Duke Williams and Clarence Watson.

Mrs. Lillian Marie Alexander Drummond obit (M)

Mrs. Lillian Marie Alexander Drummond, 97, of Summerville, GA died Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at her home.
 
Mrs. Drummond was born March 26, 1915 in Euharlee, GA, the daughter of the
late Lobrene and Lillie Bailey.  She was a homemaker and she attended New
Antioch Baptist Church.  Mrs. Drummond was the last survivor of twelve
brothers and sisters.
 
Survivors include her husband,  Jackie Drummond; and several
Nieces and Nephews.
 
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Mason
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Pettyjohn and Rev. Donnie Carver
officiating. interment at the Tennessee/Georgia Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Terry Shores, Ted Deberry, Tim Deberry, Dustin Long,
Claude Huskey, and Harold Helton.  Honorary pallbearers will be all members
of the Men’s Sunday School Class of New Antioch Baptist Church.
