MRS. MARY DORIS HENDERSON, age 78, of Summerville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at her residence. A native of Cobb County, Georgia She was born to the late Clayton and Villa Castile Brown on January 12, 1934. Mrs. Henderson was a member of South Summerville Baptist Church, retired from Bigelow-Sanford Mill, and was preceded in death by her husband the late Olin Curtis Henderson, Jr. and a son the late Wayne Henderson.
Funeral will be held Saturday, June 23rd, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. David Huggins officiating, interment in Greenhills Memory Garden. Mr. John William “J. W.” Greenwood, age 84, of Trion, GA passed away Monday, June 18, 2012 at his residence.
Mr. Greenwood was born in Trion, Georgia on September 6, 1927, son of the late Robert Emmett Greenwood and Ella Cordelia Cannon Greenwood. He was a 1945 Graduate of Trion High School, where he lettered in Football, Baseball and Basketball, and was a 1953 graduate of the University of Georgia. Mr. Greenwood was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the Trion First Baptist Church, where he was deacon, and taught the Adult Men’s SS Class. He was a member of the Trion Golf and Fishing Club. Prior to his retirement, he was the athletic director at the Trion Community Center, a Physical Education teacher and coach in the Trion School System, where he coached High School Baseball, Tennis, Golf and Football, as well as the Trion Recreation department football teams. Mr. Greenwood was the director of the Trion Recreation Department for 21 years, formed the Trion Alumni Association, helped form the Trion 50 Yard Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Elizabeth “Beta” Hayes Greenwood; and two sisters, Grace Love and Robbie Camp.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Robin and Donna Greenwood; daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Stephen Lanier; grandchildren, Drew Lanier, Laci Lanier, and Grace Greenwood; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 22, 2012 at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Woods and Dr. Floyd Roebuck officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Raymond Tripp, Lester Griffitt, Albert Palmour, and Dwight Hardin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Deacons and Men’s Sunday School Class, Trion Alumni, Tommy Bean, Andy Bean, Eddie Shireman, Alex Baker, Dennis Durham, Jerry Archer, Tate Giles and Bill Kinzy.
Mr. Greenwood will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5 until 8 P.M.
Mrs. Christine Ray Strange, age 71, of Summerville, GA, passed away Friday at her residence. Mrs. Strange was born April 4, 1941, in Owensboro, KY, the daughter of the late Jernon and Blanch Patterson Ray. She was retired from Roper Corp, and preceded in death by a son, George V. Stepp, step-son, Rickey Strange.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond Strange, son,Curtis “Butch” Austin, daughters, Kathie Landers, Christine Goldwater, sisters, Emma Rathbun, Martine Bogle, grandchildren, Kevin Austin, Scott Austin, Anthony Landers, Zackery Stepp, Sara Stepp, Shannon Landers, Christa Goldwater, Jeni Perrien, great-grandchildren, Blake Austin, Haley Austin, Rhianna Perrien, Thomas Perrien. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday June19, 2012, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joel Smith and Rev. Doyle Kelley officiating with interment in the Summerville Cemetery. Mrs. Strange will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until the service hour on Tuesday.

Mrs. Smith was born January 1, 1926 in Trion, GA, the daughter of the late Bill Greene and Jewell Greenwood Greene. She was a homemaker and a member of the Lyerly First Baptist Church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, William Henry “W. H.” Smith; and a brother, Charles Greene.
Mrs. Smith is survived by a son, William Randall Smith, Subligna, GA; a daughter, Patricia Annette Smith Tantillo, Jacksonville, FL; granddaughter, Laura Outler; great-grandchildren, Gavin Outler and Landon Outler.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Friday, June 15, 2012 at Lyerly First Baptist Church with Dr. James Baird and Rev. Barry Peppers officiating. Burial will follow in Lyerly Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Harold Ragland, Jimmy Taylor, Joe Pullen, Lane Outler, Dave Roach, Donnie Taylor, Hulett Brooks, and Larry Wessner. Mrs. Kimper Lee Audrey Butler 79 of Summerville passed away on Tuesday June 12th in Redmond Regional Medical Center, She was born April 27th , 1933 in James town, AL, the daughter of Esther Clyde and Glynna Gertrude Ingle Maples…Mrs. Butler owned a ceramic shop and enjoyed teaching ceramic classes for 20 years…she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles D. Butler, sister and brother in law, Joyce and Andy Brady and 2 infant brothers….
Survivors include her children, Alan and Cheryl Butler, Steve and Rita Butler, Janet and Rickey Ellison, sisters Maxine Gordon, Norman Willingham, and Roxie Green, 8 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Harold Hunter, age 87 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, June 9, 2012 at the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Hunter was born in Cedar Bluff, Alabama on September 2, 1923, son of the late Andrew M. Hunter and Amanda Viola Woodall. He was a member of the Ridgeway Baptist Church and prior to retirement, was employed with Bigelow-Sanford. Mr. Hunter was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army. He was a Purple Heart recipient and served in Italy, Rhineland, and Central Europe. Mr. Hunter was a charter member of the America’s National World War II Museum and was an avid knife collector, being a member of the W. R. Case and Son Cutlery Collection Club. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hunter was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Hunter, and twelve brothers and sisters.
Mr. Hunter is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth (O.B) and Lynda Hunter; daughter, Glenda Rutledge; five grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Hunter will be held Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Smith and Mr. Tommy Dover officiating. Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Leon Woody, Sherman Rutledge, Wayne Keen, Arron Rutledge, Wayne Mann and John Lawrence.
