Mr. Dale E. Wolke Obit (M)

Mr. Dale E. Wolke, age 63 of Cloudland, Georgia passed away January 30, 2012 at the M.D. Anderson Medical Center in Houston, Texas.

Mr. Wolke was born in Pontiac, Michigan on February 12, 1948, son of the late Homer Alexander Wolke and Jessica Jo Silvey Wolke. He was a professional Archaeologist and was of the Methodist Faith. Mr. Wolke was an avid outdoorsman and loved hiking, hunting, fishing and photography.

Mr. Wolke is survived by his wife, Roseanne Morgan Wolke; daughters, Ana Wolke and Mara Wolke of Northville, Michigan; step-daughter, Jennifer Shifflett of Atlanta; brother and sister-in-law, Darel and Stephanie Wolke of Manton, Michigan; and a sister and brother-in-law, Danna and George Bowersox of Northville, Michigan.

Funeral Services for Mr. Wolke will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 3:30 P.M. at the Mason Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Cloudland Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be George Bowersox, Darel Wolke, Richard Morgan and Bill “Bo” Morgan.

Mr. Wolke will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Tuesday from 2:30 P.M. until the funeral hour.

Mrs. Dixie Yvonne Brown Obit ER

Mrs. Dixie Y. Faulkner Brown, age 74, of Summerville, Georgia, Dry Creek Community, formerly of Conyers, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2012. Born in Lulu, Georgia on April 29, 1937 She was daughter of the late Mable Jean Faulkner. Mrs. Brown was Mormon by Faith, was retired keypunch operator for Kraft Foods, and an avid gardner. Surviving are her husband-T.O. (Thadys) Brown; daughters-Cheryl Brown of Atlanta, Carol Brown Spring of Huntsville, AL., and Chiara Brown of Mobile, AL.; grandchildren-Cherika Brown, Chris Brown, Travis Lynn, and Desiree’ Spring; great granddaughter-Hazel Lynn. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 7th, from the Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Jackson officiating, interment in Arlington Memorial Park, Sandy Springs, GA. Visitation Monday 6 until 8 P.M. at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, Summerville.

Mr. James Richard Cumbaa Obit M

Mr. James Richard Cumbaa, age 66, of Summerville, GA died Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at his residence.

Mr. Cumbaa was born October 25, 1945 in Miami, Florida, the son of the late Arthur and Doris Duke Cumbaa. Mr. Cumbaa was retired from Shaw Industries. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in Vietnam.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Hix Cumbaa; sister, Dorisetta Soule, Winter Haven, FL; and a brother, Thomas Cumbaa, Macon, GA.

Graveside and interment services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Chapel Hill Cemetery with Chaplain Alan Fuller officiating.

Mr. Cumbaa will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 on Thursday.

Mrs. Cynthia Ann Cindy Black Obit M

Mrs. Cynthia Ann “Cindy” Black, age 44, of Lyerly, GA died Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Black was born October 16, 1967 in LaFayette, GA, the daughter of Bobby Don and Barbara Jean Styles Edwards. She was employed with the Chattooga County School System where she worked as assistant lunch room manager at Lyerly Elementary School.

Mrs. Black is survived by her husband, Reagan Black; sons, Braden Adarione Black and Bradley Calbert Black; parents, Bobby Don and Barbara Edwards; and a brother, Danny Edwards.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Friday, February 3, 2012 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Weaver and Rev. Jerry Pike officiating. Burial will follow in Lyerly Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Kyle Edwards, Korey Edwards, Damon Black, Braden Black, Bradley Black, and Danny Edwards. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Hayes State Prison Corrections Emergency Response Team.

Mr. Paul E. King, Sr. (ER)

MR. PAUL E. KING, SR., 87, passed away the evening of January 30, 2012 after a short illness. He was married to Betty Hopkins King for 51 years who passed away in 2004. They are the parents of three children, Karen King Driskell of Alpharetta, Georgia, Jill King Riggs of Longwood, Florida, and Paul E. King, Jr. of Johns Creek, Georgia; they have five grandchildren; a sister, Elizabeth King Abney of Rome also survive. Mr. King was a native of Menlo, Georgia. He came from humble beginnings being brought up by his mother after his father passed away when he was five years old. He attended North Georgia Military College and served in the Air Force as a Lieutenant during World War II. After returning home from Europe, he graduated from the University of Georgia in Athens, and began a long career in the life insurance industry in Atlanta. Later, his career took him to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he rose to the rank of President of Minister’s Life Insurance Marketing Group. In 1976 he relocated to Orlando, Florida with his family to start his own insurance agency, which he successfully ran for the balance of his career. Mr. King was a member of the Wekiva Presbyterian Church in Longwood, Florida for many years. The family will receive visitors, Thursday, February 2, 2912 at 11:00 A.M. at the Earle Rainwater Funeral Home in Summerville, Georgia. Services will be held at 12:30 P.M. at the Alpine Community Church Menlo, Georgia.

 

Mrs. Regenna Lowrance Howard (M)

Mrs. Regenna Lowrance Howard, age 59, of Summerville, GA died Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Floyd Medical Center.

Mrs. Howard was born November 13, 1952 in Fort Payne, AL, the daughter of the late James Monroe Lowrance and Billie Jean Bryant Lowrance. She was employed at Mt. Vernon Mills.

Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Traci Johnson, Anjy and Stacy Gill, all of Summerville, GA; grandchildren, Kassi Gill, Jarret Gill, Tori Johnson, and Clayton Johnson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Andy and Donna Lowrance, Newnan, GA and Mitchell and Mary Lowrance, Summerville, GA; sisters, Brenda Whitfield and Frances Williamson, Daytona, FL; and several Nieces and Nephews.

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Mason Funeral Home.

A private ceremony for the family will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.

Mrs Deborah Womack Sharp (M)

Mrs. Deborah Womack Sharp, age 58, of Valley Head, AL died Saturday, January 28, 2012 at her residence.

Mrs. Sharp was born July 22, 1953 in Summerville, GA, the daughter of the late Archie and Ruth Butler Womack. She was a homemaker and a member of Chelsea Baptist Church.

Mrs. Sharp is survived by her husband, Roger Sharp; daughter, Tracie Westbrooks; step-daughter, Sarah Sharp; stepsons, Major Steven Sharp and Scot Sharp; sisters, Lillian Rowlls, Mary Sue Smith, and Cathy Hurley; and 12 Grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p. m. EST Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Mason Funeral Home with Bro. Jordan Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Johnson Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Josh Smith, Shane Hurley, Terry Rowlls, Keith Smith, Greg Smith, and Kevin Smith.

Mrs. Mary Jean McNeese (M)

Mrs. Mary Jean McNeese, age, 71, of Trion, GA died Saturday, January 28, 2012 at her residence.

Mrs. McNeese was born May 9, 1940 in Summerville, GA, the daughter of the late Lewis and Bertha Freeman McGraw. She was a homemaker and a member of Living Water Ministries. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Lee Overbay; sister, Wanda Gladney; and a brother, Carl McGraw.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry L. McNeese; children, Danny Overbay, Kevin McNeese, Darlene Lloyd, Karen McNeese, Jerrie Lynn McNeese, and Carla Wade; sisters, Pat Campbell and Judy Crabtree; 12 Grandchildren; and 5 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p. m. Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Brown and Rev. Billy Wright officiating. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery. MRS. MARTHA SPEER HUNTER, age 82, of Gore Community, Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, January 28, 2012, at her residence. A native Chattooga Countian She was born to the late Robert Sterling and Annie Ruth Williams Speer on March 14, 1929. Mrs. Hunter was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and co-founder and Vice President of Hunter Furniture Company in Gore. Along with Her parents was preceded in death by a son the late James Robert Hunter. Surviving are her husband-James H. (Jim) Hunter; son and daughter in-law, John Clinton & Kristie Hunter of Subligna; grandchildren-Megan Jo Hunter, Clancey Paige Hunter, Emily Katelin Hunter, and John Clinton Hunter II; brothers-Bill Speer and Jerry & Shirley Speer of Summerville, Gore Community; Pam Dawson Hammonds. Funeral services will be held Monday January 30, at 2:00 PM at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Gore with Rev. Jimmy Bryant officiating, interment in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
