Mr. John Henry Hayes Obit M

Mr. John Henry Hayes, age 86, of Summerville, GA died Tuesday, January 24,
2012 at his residence.
Mr. Hayes was born December 28, 1925 in Trion, GA, the son of the late Geoffrey
Cleamon and Minnie Jean Evans Hayes. He was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills.
Mr. Hayes served as deacon for over 55 years. He was a member and
founder of Solid Rock Baptist Church with his brother, Earnest Hayes and friend,
Carl Pierce. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in WWII.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Ernest Eugene Hayes
and Billy Hayes; sisters, Lucille Hayes Henderson, Jessie Lee Harris, and Annie Ruth Pettyjohn.
Survivors include his wife, Effie D. Hayes; son and daughter-in-law, John David
and Cindy Hayes; daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Thomas Davis; Betty Sue
Hayes, and Rose and Tommy Snider; sister, DeAver Hayes Owens; brother,
Thomas Roger Hayes; 9 Grandchildren; 15 Great Grandchildren; and a number
of Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p. m. Friday, January 27, 2012 at Mason Funeral
Home with Rev. David Hayes, Minister Brad Hayes, and Rev. Ricky Harris officiating.
Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be J. C. Henderson,
Butch Henderson, Bobby Hayes, James Hayes, Allen Hayes, and Nico Broome.
Honorary pallbearers will be J. W. and Sylvia Austin, Carl & Peggy Pierce, the
Staff of United Hospice, and all members of Solid Rock Baptist Church.
Mr. Hayes will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends
from 5:00 until 7:00 p. m. Thursday, January 26, 2012.

Mrs. Sheila Ann Hixon Davis Obit M

Ms. Sheila Ann Hixon Davis, age 53, of Trion, GA died Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at
Redmond Regional Medical Center
Ms. Davis was born December 10, 1958 in Fort Oglethorpe, GA, the daughter of
Nettie Pauline Bradley Hixon and the late Ralph E. Hixon, SR. She was formerly
employed with J C Penny. Ms. Davis was a member of Central Avenue Baptist
Church.
Survivors include her children, Derek Tidmore and Deidra Adams; mother,
Pauline Hixon; brothers, Ralph Hixon, JR and Randy Hixon; grandchildren,
Bryce Tidmore, Braylan Tidmore, Tieryn Adams, and Sheridan Adams.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Friday, January 27, 2012 at Mason
Funeral Home with Rev. John Leatherwood and Rev. Owen “Bud” Davis.
Burial will follow in Tennessee-Georgia Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be John
Tidmore, Sean Adams, Ralph Hixon, JR, Randy Hixon, Gene Hall, and Willie
Deavers. Honorary pallbearers will be all members of the Ladies Sunday School
Class of Central Avenue Baptist Church.

Mr. Kenneth Wade, Sr. Obit (M)

Mr. Kenneth Roger Wade, SR, age 60, of Trion, GA died Sunday, January 22, 2102 at his residence. Mr. Wade was born November 13, 1951 in Trion, GA. He was a self-employed mechanic.

He was a member of Belmont Baptist Church. Mr. Wade was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Wade and Mary Barksdale; foster parents, John Robert and Eunice Riley; sister, Mary Linda Hudgins; grand-children, Austin Blake Ragan, Katylin Briana Ragan, and Carbon Gage Ragan. Survivors include his wife, Lora Wade; children, Gerald Wade, Adam Ragan, Daniel Ragan, Roger Wade, Roxie Middleton, and Amy Crabtree; step-son, Will Hudgins; brothers, Jody Wade, Larry Wade, Charles Wade, and Johnny Wade; 19 Grandchildren; and 2 Great-grandchildren.

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p. m. Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Mason Funeral Home

MRS. BETTY SPARKS, age 83, of Bankston Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday , January 19, 2012, in the local nursing home. A native of Trion, Georgia, she was born December 16, 1928, a daughter of the late James Robert Hill, Sr. and the late Navada Childers Hill. Mrs. Sparks was a member of the Church of God.
She was preceded in death by sisters-the late Lorene Hardigree and Francis Turner and brother-Robert Hill, Jr. Surviving are daughters & spouses-Linda & Wayne Brown of LaFayette and Martha & O.W. Carpenter of Summerville; son & spouse-Terry & Maybell Sparks of Chickmauga; grandchildren-Shannon Stevens of Chickmauga, Amy Frazier of LaFayette, Matt Carpenter and Macy Carpenter of Summerville; great grandchildren-Ashley & Courtney Stevens, Graysen, Calum, & Caden Carpenter, Anna Cobb, and Drew Frazier; sister-Hazel Howell of Nashville, Tennessee; special friend-Peggy Rosson.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 22nd, at 3:00 P.M. from the J. D. Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Russell officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Arra Mae Williams Obit (EP)

  Mrs. Arra Mae Williams, age 90 of Trion, GA passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2012 in Oakview Nursing and Rehab Center.  Mrs. Williams was born January 31, 1921 in Trion, GA.She had been employed as a Cashier with Hoyt’s Supermarket.  Mrs. Williams liked to read, sew, and cook.  She was a faithful member of the Central Avenue Baptist Church.  
    Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Lee Williams; her father and mother, Robert O. and Fannie Mae Cordle Brown; 1 granddaughter, Lisa Williams; and numerous brothers and sisters.  
    Mrs. Williams is survived by her children and their spouses, Jerry and Carolyn Williams of Lawrenceville, GA, Gene and Glenda Williams of Harrison, TN, Ann W. Keith of Chattanooga, TN, Kenneth and Charla Williams of Lawrenceville, GA, and Doug and JoAnn Williams of Sacremento, CA; 8 grandchildren; number of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.  
   Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 22, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Owen "Bud" Davis officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.    
   Mrs. Williams will lie-in-state Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.   Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law.  Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Central Avenue Baptist Church.

Mrs. Ruby Lee Hancock Obit (M)

Ms. Ruby Lee Hancock, age 92, of Summerville, GA died Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Oakview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Hancock was born May 11, 1919 in Subligna, GA, the daughter of the late DeForrest and Annie Mae Smith Duncan. She was retired from Riegel Textile. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Steffen Day; sisters,Lois Hall and Carolyn Perry; best friend, Dot Clements Hankins; brothers, Bud Duncan, and James “Doc” Duncan.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Lawrence Day, Baton Rouge, LA; grandchildren, Todd & Patti Day, Shawn & Carolin Day, Susan & Jeff Stevens; great-grandchildren, Steven Day, Kayla Day, Paige Day, Lauren Stevens, and Cody Stevens; brother-in-law, Benny Perry; sister-in-law, Ann Duncan; nieces, Jane Short, Lisa Hall, and Kim Klouda; nephews, Steve Duncan, Mike hall, Randy Hall, and Tim Perry.

Graveside and interment services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Trion Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lawrence Day, Todd Day, Shawn Day, Steven Day, Jeff Stevens, and Tim Perry.

Mrs. Hancock will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 a. m. on Saturday.

Mrs. Velma M. Bridges 91 of Union Point Ga, formerly of Chattooga County passed away Wednesday Morning, in Green Point Health Care Facility.  A daughter of the late Ellis and Addie Cargle Mathis, Mrs. Bridges was born April 11th 1920 in Little Sand Mountain, GA. Mrs. Martha Moore Eleam, age 93, of Summerville, GA died Monday, January 16, 2012
at Oakview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Eleam was born May 24, 1918 in Summerville, GA, the daughter of the late
Robert Lee Moore and Sarah Brown Moore. She was retired from North Georgia
Electric Corporation. Mrs. Eleam was a member of Summerville First Baptist Church.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Wilson
Eleam; and a daughter, Anne E. Copeland.
Survivors include her sons, Allen W. “Butch” Eleam and Robert L. “ Bob” Eleam,
both of Summerville, GA; 9 Grandchildren; and 6 Great-grandchildren.
Graveside and interment services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Wednesday, January
18, 2012 at Garrett Cemetery with Rev. Kenneth Summey officiating. Active pallbearers
will be Joseph Eleam, Daniel Eleam, B. J. Eleam, Charles Copeland, John Stubbbs, JR,

MRS. YVONNE MYRICK, age 75, of Trion, Georgia passed away Sunday, January 15, 2012, in a Rome hospital. Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on June 23, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Chester Lee Phillips and the late Ovell Whitley Cordell. Mrs. Myrick was a member of North Summerville Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband the late William Thomas Myrick. Surviving are daughter-April Myrick Vaughn; son & daughter-in-law Jehrome (Diane) Myrick all of Trion; granddaughter-Misty Myrick Copeland (Jason); grandson-Jehrome Paul Vaughn. Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 17, 2012 at 2:00 P. M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Ms. Fannie Catharan Searels Obit (M)

Mrs. Fannie Catharan Searels, age 55, of Summerville, GA, passed away Friday at her residence.

Ms. Searels was born January 4, 1957, in Summerville, GA, the daughter of William Bruce Clarkson and Fannie Catharan King Clarkson. She was a retired School Teacher and a member of the Summerville First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Chelsea Searels, son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Avery Hammonds, grandson, Will Hammonds, sister and brother-in-law, Mamie and David Coker.

Memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday January 21, 2012 from the Summerville first United Methodist Church with Rev. David Hicks officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.
