Mr. William Luther Ward, Sr. Obit (M)

Mr. Luther William Ward Sr., age 88, of Summerville, Ga, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. Mr. Ward was born October 23, 1923 in Cherokee County, AL. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah‘s Witness where he was very active with his faith and served as an elder in the congregation. Mr. Ward was preceded in death by his wife, Rosie Irene Sims Ward, a son, Albert Ward and 7 brothers and sisters. Survivors include his children, Luther Ward Jr., Annie Ruth Chapman, Patricia Smith and husband Charles Smith, brother, Sandy Ward, 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 8:00 p. m. Tuesday, December 20, 2011 from the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Barney Mason officiating. Mr. Ward will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Tuesday.

Mrs. Alberta Johnson Snider Obit (M)

Mrs. Alberta Johnson Snider, age 85, of Summerville, GA, passed away Monday December 19, 2011 at the Floyd Medical Center. Mrs. Snider was preceded in death by her parents Gordon and Bonnie Johnson, her husband, Charles Edward Snider, and a son Gary Brown.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Beverly Kay and Alfredo Nazario, daughter-in-law, Becky Brown, sister-in-law, Christine Johnson, 2 special grandchildren, Wes and Will Allen, grandchildren, Sherry & Glen Elsberry, Buffy & Randy Stephens, Vince & Amanda Nazario, great-grandchildren, Mason & Jackson Elsberry, B.J. Vaughn, R.J. Stephens, Ashley & Arron Nazario.

Graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday December 22, 2011 from the Lyerly Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Wilborn officiating.  Pallbears  will be Wes Allen, Will Allen, Glen Elsberry, Eddie Elsberry,  Randy Clayton, and David Combs.

Mrs. Snider will lie in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday December 21, 2011.  Mason Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Clicky Wooten Obit (M)

Mr. Clicky Wooten, age 89, of Albertville, AL, formerly of Gaylesville, AL died Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Cherokee County Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Wooten was born April 16, 1922 in Fort Payne, AL, the son of the late Robert and Ella Mae Couch Wooten. He was a farmer for many years and later retired from Harriett and Henderson Cotton Mill. He loved to dance and to listen to blue grass gospel music. Mr. Wooten was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Ruth Morris Wooten; son, Charlie Wooten; daughter, Linda Mullins, sons-in-law, Burland Mullins and Steve Woodall; daughter-in-law, Elsie Wooten; and 21 Brothers and Sisters.

Survivors include his children, Marvin “Bud” Wooten, Cedar Bluff, AL, Pat and Mike Mason, Huntsville, AL, Peggy and Henry Mason, Summerville, GA, Jerry and Dolly Wooten, Covington, GA; Mary and Debo Busby, Chattoogaville, GA; 21 Grandchildren; 32 Great-grandchildren; 11 Great-Great- Grandchildren; and several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p m Monday, December 19 from the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Wilborn officiating. Burial will follow in Mill Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Grandsons.

Mr. Wooten will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Sunday.

Mr. E.J. Brown obit (R)

MR. E. J. BROWN, age 87, of Wayside Community, Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday (December 16, 2011) morning in a Rome hospital. A life time resident of Chattooga County, Georgia, He was born to the late Henry and Emma Headrick Brown on January 28, 1924.

 Mr. Brown was a member of the Berryton Bible Mission and was retired from Barwick Mills and Riegel Textile Corporation slacher rooms. He served in the U.S. Navy in WW II and was preceded in death by his wife the late Nellie Bell Armstrong Brown and step son the late Ronnie Headrick.

Surviving are grandchildren-Tony Headrick, Kimberly Headrick, Melissa & Kirk Fauscett, Leann & Don McGrath; great grandchildren-Kristen & Dakota Headrick, Lauren Fauscett, Emily & Jonathan McGrath; step children-Douglas & Joann Headrick, Johnny Headrick, and Sharon Headrick; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 18th, at 1:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Rutledge officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 5 until 8 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Mrs. Geneva Skinner Shireman obit (R)

MRS. GENEVA SKINNER SHIREMAN, age 89, of Highway #337 Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, December 16, 2011, morning in a Rome hospital. Born in Chattooga County, Georgia on August 5, 1922, She was a daughter of the late Sam and Ella Broome White.

Mrs. Shireman was a member of New Antioch Baptist Church, retired from the spinning department of Riegel Textile Corporation, and was preceded in death by her husbands the late Earnest Shireman and the late Bill Skinner, and a daughter-the late Jeannette Hill.

Surviving are son-Douglas & Vivian Shireman; daughter-Sharon & Mickey Collins of Carrollton; step daughter-Karen & George Stivers; step son-Darrell & Annette Skinner all of Summerville and Richard & Sandy Skinner of Indiana; 9 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great Great Grandchildren.

Mr. Tim Mcwilliams Obit (R)

MR. TIM McWILLIAMS, age 55, of Haywood Valley-Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday morning in a Rome hospital following an extended illness. Born in Trion, Georgia, He was a son of the late Robert L. (Bob) McWilliams and Rubie Scoggins McWilliams who survives.

Prior to retirement He was owner/operator of the Subligna General Store. Mr. McWilliams was preceded in death by a brother the late Joey McWilliams.

Surviving are His wife-Martha McWilliams; daughter-Christa Leeann McWilliams; mother-Rubie McWilliams; and brother-Michael McWilliams all of Summerville.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 17th, at 3:00 P.M. from Graveside in McWilliams Cemetery with Rev. Mark Smith and Mr. Cecil Watkins officiating. Mrs. Margaret Meadows Thrasher(R)

MRS. MARGARET MEADOWS THRASHER, age 81, of Atlanta, Georgia formerly of Chattooga County, passed away Friday evening in Decatur, Georgia. A native of Berryton, Georgia, She was born to the late J. Olney Meadows, Sr. and the late Mary Powell Meadows, on November 27, 1930. Mrs. Thrasher was an Executive Secretary retired, a member of Decatur Presbyterian Church, and was preceded in death by her husband the late Clifford Thrasher in 1995. Surviving are daughter-Mary Ann Armes of Bradenton, FL; sons-Clifford Sloane Thrasher of Saint Cloud, Minn. and William Bryan Thrasher of Atlanta; grandchildren-Christopher Thrasher, Phillip Thrasher, Claudia Thrasher, Anderson Thrasher, and Peter Thrasher; several Great Grandchildren; brother-J.Olney Meadows, Jr. of Berryton. Mrs. Charlotte Elizabeth Forrester(M)

Mrs. Charlotte Elizabeth Forrester, age 59, of Rome, GA died Thursday, December 8, 2011 at her residence.

Mrs. Forrester was born February 22, 1952 in Trion, GA, the daughter of the late Bramlett P. and Mary Lou Gayton Hall. After a valiant and courageous battle with cancer, Charlotte Elizabeth Forrester, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed from this life into the righteous hands of her Lord. Cherished by her parents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, children, grandchildren, adored by a devoted husband of 37 years, and admired and loved by friends. Charlotte was a devoted employee and boss who was respected as a friend throughout her stellar career. A tireless worker with an incredible work ethic, she retired as lab manager at NWGA Regional Hospital after 37 years in the field of medical technology. Charlotte was preceded in death by a daughter, Krista Marie Forrester, sister, Linda Hall Blansit, and brother, Leon Hall. Her memory will remain in our hearts and be seen in our lives. The world is a better place having had a beautiful spirit like hers in it.

Survivors include her husband, Terry Forrester; sons, John Forrester and Matthew Forrester; daughter Ginnie and husband Tracy Prater and daughter, Kara Forrester; brothers and wives, Eugene and Betty Hall, Willie B. and Eleanor Hall, Ramon and Joann Hall; grandchildren, Morgan Prater and Gavin Prater.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Central Avenue Baptist Church with Tim Hall and Tracy Prater officiating. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Rhonda Michelle Hunter Ray, age 33, of Summerville, GA, passed away
Tuesday December 6, 2011 in Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Ray was born June 14, 1978, in Scottsboro, AL, the daughter of Charles
Wayne and Brenda Gail Hennon Hunter. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Ernest Ray, children, Harley Hunter, and
Constance Davis, parents, Charles and Brenda Hunter.
Funeral service will be held 6:00 p.m. Friday December 9, 2011 from the Chapel of

Mr. William Gordon (Billy) Alexander, age 77, of Summerville, GA, passed away Wednesday December 7, 2011, in Chatsworth Health Care Center.
Mr. Alexander was born June 22, 1934, the son of the late Ed Roland and Dora Jean Willingham Alexander. Mr. Alexander was a self-employed paint contractor.
