Mrs. Kay Marie Thomas, age 75, of Trion, GA passed away Saturday, November 5, 2011 at her residence.

Mrs. Thomas was born May 1, 1936 in Trion, GA, daughter of the late Ida Margaret Moore and Ralph W. Hale. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed with Lay’s Variety Store and had also worked in several textile mills. Mrs. Thomas was a member of the Trion Presbyterian Church and an active member in the Trion Community, serving as a Cub Scout Leader. She was also a member of The Yard of the Month Club. Mrs. Thomas was a loving mother and homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Thomas, Sr. and a grandchild, Ms. Katie Lynn Bradley.

Mrs. Thomas is survived by her son, John Henry Thomas, Jr.; daughters and sons-in-law, Gwyndolyn Hale and Alfred Crabtree, Johnnie Lynne and Steve Hillman, Robin Marie and David Burkhalter; grandchildren, Christy Wofford Windle, Melinda Witt Wallin, Ginger Wofford Brown, Roy and Racheal Witt, Dale Witt, Lauren Burkhalter; great-grandchildren, Asa Windle, Rese Wofford, Ramsie Keen, Kellen Anderson, Dexter Witt, Will Witt, LilyBeth Witt, Braden Maddux, and Chandler Keen.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Thomas will be held Monday, November 7, 2011 at 4:30 p.m. from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronald Regan officiating. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Roy Witt, Dale Witt, Asa Windle, Chandler Keen, David Burkhalter, Tommy Moore, Alfred Crabtree. Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of At Peace Hospice Care, and the Staff of Wal-Mart Pharmacy.

Mrs. Thomas will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Monday evening from 3:00 p.m. until the hour of service.

Mrs. Bobbie Jean Fincher Kendrick, age 78, of Summerville, passed away Friday, November 4, 2011 at the Suites at Oakview in Summerville. Mrs. Kendrick was born in Rome, GA on April 11, 1933, daughter of Jessie Mae Tallent Fincher and the late E.P. Fincher. She was a member of the South Summerville Baptist Church. Mrs. Kendrick is survived by her mother, Jessie Mae Tallent Fincher, daughter, Beth Huggins, brother Weyman Fincher and grandson, Benjamin Huggins. Funeral Services for Mrs. Kendrick will be held Sunday, November 6, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Bryant officiating. Mr. Thomas Junior “T.J.” Luther, age 77, of Menlo, passed away Friday, November 4, 2011 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center. Mr. Luther was born in Etowah County, Alabama on September 18, 1934, son of the late William T. Luther and Eula Claborn Luther. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Jamestown, Alabama, was a veteran of the United States Air Force, and prior to retirement was employed with the Southern Railway Co. as a Depot Agent. He was preceded in death by a brother, Thurman Luther, and sister, Eularene Dodd. Mr. Luther is survived by his wife, Peggy Killian Luther; sons & daughters-in-law, Tommy & Patsy Luther and David & Pattie Luther; daughters & sons-in-law, Penny & Mike Holder and Debbie & Matthew Hall; 4 Grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.Funeral Services for Mr. Luther will be held Sunday, November 6, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mrs. Thelma Olivia Allgood, age 90, of Summerville, GA died Thursday, November 3, 2011 at her residence.

Mrs. Allgood was born August 21, 1921 in Holland, GA, the daughter of the late John and Viola Myles Adams. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Allgood’s love was gardening and raising flowers. She proudly cared for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was an inspiration to others in guidance of life lessons. Other than her parents, Mrs. Allgood was preceded in death by her first husband, Grady E. Loveless, and her second husband, Albert Allgood; sons, James Loveless and Larry Loveless; daughter,

Mr. J D Dillard, age 82, of Summerville, GA died Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Floyd Medical Center.

Mr. Dillard was born October 4, 1929 in Atlanta, GA, the son of the late William Lee and Bessie Galloway Dillard. Mr. Dillard was a member of Four Mile Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and a past treasurer. He was a former Junior Boys Sunday School Teacher, a former Little League Coach, and was formerly active in Boy Scouts. He was retired from Mohawk Industries and was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by 9 Brothers and 4 Sisters.

Mr. Dillard is survived by his wife, Geneva Scoggins Dillard; sons and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Deborah Dillard, and Rodney Lee Dillard; sister, Betty Fortner, Trion, GA; grandchildren, Emma Dillard and Ethan Nixon; brother- in-law and sister-in-law, Billy & Tennie Scoggins; sisters-in-law, Paula Brown,Louise Dillard, and Rachel Dillard; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p. m. Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Four Mile Baptist Church with Rev. Doyle Kelly, Rev. Sanford Deberry, and Rev. Joel Smith, and Daniel Smith officiating. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Sonny Dillard, Howard Dillard, Thomas Dillard, Buddy Evans, Bill Ingram, and Keith Brown. Mr. Dillard will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive from 5:00 until 8:00 p. m. on Saturday, October 29, 2011. He will also lie in state at Four Mile Baptist Church on Sunday from 2:30 until the service hour.

MR. OTIS SHIVER, age 87, of Ridgewood Circle-Summerville, Georgia passed away Monday, October 24, 2011, in the local nursing home. Born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on October 7, 1924, a son of the late Jesse C. and Allie Mae- Williams Shiver. Mr. Shiver was a WW II Veteran serving in the U. S. Army Combat Engineers in the Philippians and New Guinea; also was a member and Past Commander of American Legion Post #129 and V.F.W. Post #6688. He was a member of Summerville First Baptist Church and retired from retail sales. Surviving are wife-Marion Nelson Shiver; sons and daughter-in-law-Nelson Shiver of Atlanta and Farrell & Kay Willingham Shiver of Woodstock; granddaughter-Sarah Shiver; sisters-Edna Helton of Summerville and Linda Green of Lyerly; several Nieces and Nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 26th,at 2PM  from the Summerville First Baptist Church with Dr. Kenneth Summey and Dr. Paul Mason officiating, interment in the family lot of Summerville Cemetery, with Military Honors by American Legion Shanklin-Attaway Post #5. Mrs. Floye Louise Campbell, age 92, of Trion, GA passed away Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Oakview Nursing & Rehab. Mrs. Campbell was born September 17, 1919 in LaFayette, GA , the daughter of the late Barney Hampton and Lula Mitchell Hampton. She was a member of Trion First Baptist Church. She was retired from Mount Vernon Mills, where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Mrs. Campbell was preceded in death by a son, Les Tripp, a step-son, Gary Campbell, sisters, Esther Locklear, Ruth Landers, brother, B.L. Hampton. Survivors include her husband, Bryant Campbell, Trion, GA; step-children Steve Campbell, Phillip Campbell, Abby Searels, Rita Campbell, daughter-in-law, Mary Tripp, sisters, Barnette Brimer, Nell Freeman, Jane Waters, grandchildren, Leslie Tripp Watwood, Jeff Tripp, Brandi Tripp Hammonds, great-grandchildren, Monique Watwood Perry, Tobi Watwood, Jessie Tripp, Ethan Tripp. Graveside and interment services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Monday, October 24, 2011 at Greenhills Memory Gardens with Dr. Warren Moorhead officiating. Active pallbearers will be Nephews. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
