Mrs. Geneva Carson

Mrs. Geneva Aaron Carson, age 88 of Atlanta, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Southern Regional Medical Center.

 Mrs. Carson was born in DeKalb County, Alabama on September 10, 1920, daughter of the late Buford Aaron and Nora Hasten Aaron. She was a member of the Dry Valley Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Earlie Hubbard Carson, son Donnie Ray Carson; brother, Vernon Aaron; sisters, Imogene Little, Nell Blevins, Mary Ruth Dolberry and Ann Henderson. 

Mrs. Carson is survived by Sons and Daughters-in-law, Mackie and Carol Carson, Billy Joe and Debbie Carson; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Gerry Mills; sister, Christine Carver; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren. 

Funeral Services for Mrs. Carson will be held Friday, July 10, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Weaver and Rev. Arnold Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Trion Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Carson, Christopher Carson, Deron Darnell, Bill Campbell, Pete Dolberry, Kenny Dolberry and Danny Dolberry.

Mr. Jackie M. Phillips obit

Mr. Jackie Marshall Phillips, age 65 of Gaylesville, AL., passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Emory University Hospital. 

Mr. Phillips was born in Doraville, Georgia on March 9, 1944, son of the late Albert Marshall Phillips and Rena Hester Phillips. He was a member of the Chesterfield Baptist Church and prior to retirement, was employed with Sears as a Fork Lift Operator.

 Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his wife, Terri Logue Phillips. Mr. Phillips is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Stacy and Greg Franklin of Lawrenceville, GA and Joy Phillips of Toccoa, GA; Special Friend, Darlene Hudson, Gaylesville; brothers, Glen Phillips of Cumming, GA and Henry Philips of Lakeland, FL; sister, Peggy Niblett of Cumming, GA; and 2 grandchildren, Dez Franklin and Danielle Hightower.

 Funeral Services for Mr. Phillips will be held Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Greg Ledford officiating. Evans Obit

Mr. Donald Ferrell Evans, age 66, of Summerville, GA died Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Evans was born December 24, 1942, the son of the late Albert Lee Evans and Ina Mae Dillard Evans. He was retired from Inland Containers. Mr. Evans was a member of Pennville Baptist Church and was a veteran of the United States Army. Other than his parents, Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his wife, Lisa Diane Jones Evans.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Bryan and Michelle Evans and Milton Douglas and Cindy Evans; brothers, Bobby Evans, Buddy Evans, and Joe Evans; grandchildren, Heather Ritchie, Casey Evans, Brandon Evans, Rhonda Anderson, Brittanie Evans, Cody Evans, and Chasity Evans; great-grandchild, Claire Ritchie; friend, Rodney Kinsey, and a number of Nieces and Nephews.

Ms. Elaine Eller, age 52, of Taylor Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday (July 5, 2009) afternoon. A native of Chattooga County, Georgia She was born to the late Voy Stone and Mandy Louise Sexton Teague on December 6, 1956. Ms. Eller formerly worked with the Chattooga County Ambulance Service and Oak View Nursing Home and was an LPN with Home Health.

Surviving are Sons and spouses-Jerry & Lindsey Eller and Terry, Jr. & Sarah Eller all of Summerville; granddaughter-Baily Johnston.

Funeral services will be held Thursday (July 9th) at 10:00 A.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Mr. Tony Gilleland officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery. Mr. Calvin C. Mason, age 84, of Summerville, passed away Monday, July 6, 2009 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Mason was born in Cherokee County, AL on April 29, 1925, son of the late Arthur Mason and Luna Henderson Mason. He was preceded in death by brothers, Leonard Mason, Gilmer Mason, Willard Mason and James Mason. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Mason was employed with Best Manufacturing.

Mr. Mason is survived by his wife, Violet Mason of Summerville; daughter, Stella Roberts of Summerville; sisters, Mary Hicks of Centre, AL and Margie Payne of Rome; four grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Graveside and Interment Services for Mr. Mason will be held Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. in the Green Hills Memory Gardens with Minister Buddy Roberts officiating.

MS. MARY RACHEL CANTRELL, age 85, of Tavern Lane-Trion, Georgia passed away Wednesday (July 1, 2009) at her residence following an extended illness. A native of Atlanta, Georgia She was born to the late Robert Dennis and Cassie Wills Cantrell on September 12, 1923. Ms. Cantrell was a member of the Acworth First United Methodist Church and was retired Industrial Engineer for Georgia Power Company.

Surviving are sisters and spouse-Alma McLemore of Marietta and Pansye and Wade Boggs of Ovieda, FL.; brother & spouse-Phil and Marlene Cantrell of Acworth; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Graveside service will be held Monday (July 6th) at 1:00 P.M. in Liberty Hill Cemetery in Acworth. Visitation will be Friday (July 3rd) from 5 until 7 P.M. at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home and visitation Sunday (July 5th) from 4 until 7 P.M. at Collins Funeral Home in Acworth.

Mrs. Mary Nell Mull, age 81, of Summerville, GA died Friday, June 26, 2009 at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Mull was born April 4, 1928 in Trion, GA, the daughter of the late Emmett Hines and Mable Hale Vineyard. She was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills and was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Mull was preceded in death by a grandson, Jamey Mull and a sister, Margaret Hawkins.

Survivors include her husband, William J . Mull; son, Gary Mull; daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Roger Farmer and Linda and Jackie Bowman, all of Summerville, GA; sisters, Betty Stoner, Summerville, GA, Barbara Farrow, Trion, GA, and Jean Allen, Rome, GA; brothers, Mitchell Hines and Ronnie Pettyjohn, both of Trion, GA; grandchildren, Gerald Mull, Angie Mull, Jeremy Bowman, Matthew Farmer, Michael Farmer, Leann Webb, and Caleb Mull; and 6 Great Grandchildren.

Mrs. Wanda Nell Elgin Parris, fondly known as “Peachy” passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Parris was born in Trion, Georgia on September 8, 1934, daughter of the late Otto Harrison Elgin and Wanda Bell Elgin. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Summerville and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Parris is survived by her husband of 49 years, Earl “Red” Parris of Summerville; Son and Daughter-in-law, Earl H. and Chris Parris of Summerville; Daughter and Son-in-law, Katharine Parris and Svein Romstad of Roswell, GA, and Wanda Nell Hudson and Jerry Pollard of Rome; grandchildren, Kim Parris of Gainesville, Amanda Parris of Summerville, and John H. Pollard of Rome.
Graveside and Interment Services for Mrs. Parris will be held Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 9:00 A.M. in the Summerville Cemetery with Rev. Greg King officiating.

MRS. GERTHIE L. HAMPTON, age 72, of L.M. Thomas, Jr. Road, Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday (June 24, 2009) in a Dalton, Georgia hospital following a sudden attack. A native of Jackson County, Alabama.  She was born to the late George Alvin and Ethel Golf Cooper on December 6, 1936. Mrs. Hampton was a member of the Ark of Faith Holiness Church and was retired from the tufting department of Aladdin Carpet. She was predeceased by siblings Ruby Peterman, Billy Cooper, Leonard Cooper, and George Alvin Cooper and step son-James Paul Hampton.

Surviving are her husband, James Hampton; son and daughter-in-law, James Leon and Vickie Ann Hampton of Summerville; sister, Emma McDonald; brothers, Raymond Cooper and James R. Cooper all of Summerville; grandchildren, James B. Hampton, Tabatha Hampton, and Christopher Hampton; four Great Grandchildren; five Nieces, nine Nephews, several Great Nieces and Great Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday (June 28th) at 1:30 P.M. from the Ark of Faith Holiness Church with Pastor Lamar Rich officiating, interment in Lyerly Cemetery.
