MR. EUGENE CORDELL, age 73, of East Washington Street, Summerville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday morning, February 10, 2026, at His residence. He was born in Chattooga County Georgia July 12, 1952 to the late Manuel H. Cordell and Mary Lou Smith Cordell. Mr. Cordell was a member of the Pennville First Baptist Church and was Superintendent for the Chattooga County Water District.

Surviving are His wife, Peggy Gilreath Cordell; daughter, Laura (Rick) Gann; son, Dustin E. (Melissa) Cordell; sister, Donnie Sue Brown; grandchildren, Maddie Wells, Caden Cordell, Gatlin Cordell, Gillian Gann, Axl Gann, and Ezra Gann; sister in law, Judy Gilreath; Best Friend, His Golden Retriever-“Hemingway”; nieces, Leslie Weaver, Melissa Frost; nephews, Barry Gilreath,Jr., Jerry Brown.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 13th, at 11:00 A.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, with Rev. Ralph Sumner, Rev. Tim Evans, and Minister Barry Gilreath, Jr. officiating, interment in Macedonia Cemetery. Mickey Alton “Mountain Man” Silvers, Obit (M)

Mr. Mickey Alton “Mountain Man” Silvers, age 57 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, February 8, 2026 in a Rome hospital.

Mickey was born in Rome, Georgia on November 15, 1968, son of the late Thomas Silvers and Kathleen Corbin Silvers. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and prior to retirement, had been employed as a slasher helper with Mt. Vernon Mills. Mickey enjoyed grilling, woodworking, thrift store shopping and going to Trade Day, but his favorite activity was spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Mickey was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Silvers; maternal grandparents, Lee Corbin and Nellie Hill Corbin; paternal grandparents, Paul and Louise Silvers; uncle, “Little” Morris Silvers; and special friends, Danny Davis, Dale Bain and Tim Perry.

Mickey is survived by his wife, Marilyn Henderson Silvers; daughter and son-in-law, Brittany and Austin Campbell; brother and sister-in-law, Rickey and Brenda Silvers; sister and brother-in-law, Tammy and Jamie Mitchell; four grandchildren, Trae Campbell, Anna Silvers, Zayden Campbell and Xander Campbell and seven nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mickey will be held Thursday, February 12, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Rickey Biddle officiating. Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery.

Ms. Melissa Saralyn “Lisa” Morrow, age 55, of Summerville, GA, died Sunday, February 8, 2026, at her residence.

Ms. Morrow was born May 25, 1970, in Summerville, GA, daughter of the late Russell David Morrow and Carolyn Etta Yarbrough. She had previously been employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Ms. Morrow loved NASCAR and was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs. Lisa was such a warm and loving person, so much so that all the kids in the neighborhood loved coming to visit her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Clint McCary and Mike McCary.

Survivors include her son, Patrick Morrow; special friend, Greg Plunkett; brothers, Jeff (Michelle) McCary, Greg Morrow; aunt, Brenda Ward; and several nieces and nephews.

Rev. Greg Ledford, Obit (M)

Rev. Greg Ledford, age 70, of Gaylesville, AL, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2026, at his residence.

Rev. Ledford was born July 22, 1955, in Summerville, GA, son of Joy Powell Ledford and the late Bob Ledford. He was a member of Teloga Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, was employed as a supervisor with Mohawk Industries. Rev. Ledford had previously pastored at Mount Calvary Baptist Church as well as at Chesterfield Baptist Church. His first love was Jesus Christ, but his other loves included his wife, Judy, the Alabama Crimson Tide, and coon hunting.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Doug Ledford.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Cavin Ledford; daughter, Carla (Keith) Green; sons, Greg (Heather) Ledford, Jr., Tyler (Aisha) White, Vernon (Rhonda) White, Brandon (Amber) White; mother, Joy Ledford; sister, Gina Hutcherson; grandchildren, Braxton White, Kadence White, Presley White, Tyler (Katie) Edgeman, Logan (Alison) Edgeman, Chandler (Leslie) Green, Gracie Ledford, Halle Ledford, Katy Wade, Ronald Mann, Destiny Wade, Mariah Wade, Darron Holcomb, Dillon Holcomb, and Kristian Mobbs; several great-grandchildren; and special friend, Johnny Gentry.

MRS. NELL CAROLYN TIMMONS, age 80, of Burton Road-Mountain View Community, Trion; passed away peacefully Sunday evening surrounded by Her Loving Family. She was born in Trion, Georgia on February 16, 1945 to the late William A. (Bill) Rich and Pearl Daisey Potts Rich. She was a member of the Summerville Penticostal Worship Centerand was a retired CNA for Oakview Nursing & Rehab Center. In addition to Parents, She was preceded in death by husband, Arlie T. Timmons, sisters, Dorothy Heart Rich and Rose Phelps, brothers, William Rich, Lamar Rich, and Fred Rich. Nell was first and foremost a child of God. She loved to serve the Lord and did so in various ways. From faithfully attending Church, to singing and ministry in jails. She was married to the love of her life, Arlie, and enjoyed every moment with him. Her prayers were answered when he gave his life to the Lord and they were able to share that Hope together. Prayer was a true way of life for Nell. She was honored by God to see here only child as well as her grandchildren come to faith in Jesus. Her faithful prayers covered her family, brothers, sisters, and her patients at the Nursing Home. She diligently cared for and loved those on her job. Nell was steadfast in faith, love, and hope. She carried a heavy mantle as matriarch of her family. She will be missed, is dearly loved, and is now seeing her blessed Savior face to face.

Surviving are daughter, Sharon Timmons; sister, Patricia Westbrook; brother, Charles (Shiela) Rich; grandchildren, Ginger (Brian) Jenkins and Arlie John Smith Smith; great grandchidren, Elaina Smith, Christian McWhorter, Selah Jenkins, and Arabella Smith; several Nieces and Nephews.

Charles Edwin “Ed” Franklin, Obit (C)

Mr. Charles Edwin “Ed” Franklin, age 77, of Summerville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his residence on February 6, 2026.

Born on May 22, 1948, in Clarkesville, Georgia, Ed was the son of the late Charles Frederick Franklin and Nettie Withrow Tench Franklin. Throughout his life, Ed was deeply involved with the Pennville Church of Christ and had a fulfilling career as a Project Manager with Fox and Brindle, as well as a contractor with the Georgia Finance State Investment Commission.

A proud veteran, Ed served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He had a passion for fishing, loved attending NASCAR races, and was an enthusiastic participant in drag racing. Above all, Ed treasured the moments spent with his beloved family.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Shirley Franklin; daughters and sons-in-law, Lorie and Chad Brown, and Becky and Kevin Payton; sister, Patricia and brother-in-law Kenny Cox; and grandchildren Kaitlyn (Raelyn) Payton and Makaila (Levi) Noles, along with numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Heyman Hospice Team – Michelle, Jeanette, Lisa, and Kim – for their compassionate care.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Coffman Funeral Home, with Ministers Brad Hayes and Robbie Eversole officiating. Interment will follow in Subligna Cemetery.

William Sidney Henderson, Obit (C)

Mr. William Sidney Henderson, age 85 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, February 6, 2026 in a Rome hospital.

A native of Summerville, Georgia, Mr. Henderson was born August 18, 1940, son of the late Elisha John Paul Henderson and Cecil Annie Gaylor Henderson. He was a member of the Pennville Church of Christ and was retired from Beaulieu, where he was employed as a plant manager. Mr. Henderson was an avid animal lover, having several cats and dogs. He was an absolute handyman, enjoyed yard work, woodworking, watching Westerns and eating at the Menlo Restaurant.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Henderson was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Faye Henderson; grandson, Nicholas Simpson; sisters, Josephine Ratliff and Joan Ratliff; and a brother, Johnny Henderson.

Mr. Henderson is survived by sons, Nathan Henderson, Terry Hampton, Marty Hampton, Rodney Henderson and Russell Henderson; daughters, Rita Brooks-Sussman, Beverly Simpson, Kim Hurley, Tina Maynard, Kelly Yarbrough and Cindy Simpson; brother, Greg Henderson; sisters, Edna Cavin and Ann Strawn; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

In accordance with Mr. Henderson’s wishes, he will be cremated and there are no plans for a memorial service at this time.

MRS. KAY WORSHAM, age 83 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, February 5, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Trion, Georgia to the late Ralph Henry Housch and Mary Elizabeth Betty Tribble Housch on May 3, 1942. She was retired Home Economics for Chattooga County High School, a member of Pennville Church of Christ, and in addition to Parents, was preceded in death by her husband the late William C. (Bill) Worsham and a sister the late Ann Brooks.

Surviving are her daughter, Laura Graham; son, Jeremy (Brenda) Worsham; grandchildren, Jay (Kaylee) Williams, Wendy (Tripp) Worsham, Jud Williams, and Kylin Graham; great granddaughter, Whitlee Williams; sister, Jane (Jim) Parker; brother, Dale (Honey) Housch; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 7th, at 1:00 P.M. from the Pennville Church of Christ with Ministers Robbie Eversole and Brad Hayes officiating, interment in Greenhills Memory Garden. Gaynelle Denise Goodson, Obit (M)

Mrs. Gaynelle Denise Goodson, age 66, of Summerville, GA, died Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Pruitt Health – Shepherd Hills.

Gaynelle was born January 23, 1960, in Summerville, GA, daughter of the late Grady Ledford and Betty Lowrance. She was a homemaker and was Church of God by faith.

Gaynelle was a lady of many talents; singing, writing poetry, and picking guitar. She had a amazing love for her family and friends and always told everyone, “I love you with my whole heart.” She had a heart of gold with a little sass and could make anyone laugh with her quirky comebacks and jokes. She was born and raised in Chattooga and Walker Counties. She met and fell in love with Leonard Felton Goodson. They got married and had four children together, and Felton’s oldest daughter made five. Together, they had four daughters and one son. They were both amazing, loving parents and grandparents.

Gaynelle worked several mill jobs including at Roper and Best Manufacturing. She then settled in as a homemaker. She loved country music, rock, and Gospel, and she had a beautiful voice. She loved her husband and kids, her parents, her siblings, her family, and her friends, and enjoyed having family reunions and gatherings. She could spend all day long outside soaking up the sun and telling stories of her childhood. She made sure to tell her loved ones every day, “I love you with my whole heart,” and every night, she would say, “Goodnight. I love you. Sweet dreams.” She fought long and hard and her greatest fear was leaving behind her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. What a beautiful blessing she was to her entire family and all of her friends, and she was dearly loved and will be missed by everyone.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Felton Goodson; step-daughter, Angie Hennessee; and a granddaughter, Kali Harris.

Survivors include her son, Shaun (Jessica) Goodson; daughters, Jennifer Goodson Webber, Misty Goodson and Shannon Goodson; brothers, Grady Eugene (Doodle) Ledford, Wesley Ledford, Randall Brock, Avery Brock, and Matt (Amy) Lowrance; a sister, Sandra (Dennis) Gray; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 7, 2026, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Blake Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Ashton Goodson, Dayton Goodson, Kaitlyn Goodson, Zackary Hart, Randall Brock, and Matt Lowrance. Honorary pallbearers will be Rusty Hamilton and four grandchildren.

Mrs. Ellen Ann Jennings, age 86, of Summerville, GA, died Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at her residence.

Mrs. Jennings was born May 29, 1939, in Summerville, GA, daughter of the late Vernon and Leola Adkins Langston. She was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church, and prior to her retirement, was employed with Mohawk Industries. She had also served as the director of the Senior Center for many years. Mrs. Jennings loved her family, spending time with her grandchildren, and traveling with her husband.

Survivors include her husband, Danny Jennings; sons, Joey (Anita) Day, Joey (Carla) Jennings; daughters, Toni (Roy “Bugsy”) Clark, Donna (Greg) Collins, Misty (Russ) Blackwell; 8 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon Friday, February 6, 2026, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Russ Blackwell and Bro. Max Reed officiating.
