Ms. Jackie Sue Beam Simpson, Obit. (M)

Ms. Jackie Sue Beam Simpson, age 77, of Menlo, GA, died Saturday, March 21, 2026, at her residence.

Ms. Simpson was born September 3, 1948, in Menlo, GA, daughter of the late Roy Eugene Beam and Lois Pearl Thomas Beam.  She was a member of the Menlo First Baptist Church.

Ms. Simpson received her nursing diploma in 1969, starting a lifetime of dedication to serving many medical institutions including Hutcheson Medical Center, Chattooga County Hospital and Nursing Home, Chattooga County EMS, Harbin Clinic Dialysis Center, North Georgia Home Health, and Erlanger Medical Center.  She served in many roles during her nursing career including Director of Nursing for the Chattooga County Nursing Home.  In all, she had over 50 years of service in the nursing field.

Survivors include her sons, Charles “Chuck” (Caroline) Harris, Jason Harris; daughter, Sally Harris; grandchildren, Jayce Harris, Kamdyn Harris, Brittani Ingram, and Marti Smith.

Graveside and interment services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Greenhills Memory Gardens with Rev. Matthew Willingham officiating.  Active pallbearers will be Chuck Harris, Jason Harris, Jayce Harris, and Kamdyn Harris.  Honorary pallbearers will be her special caregivers, Cissy Hollingsworth, Freda Robinson, Sheliah Sisson, Rhonda Summerlin, and Rachel Crowe.

Ms. Simpson will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 11:30 A.M. until 1:30 P.M. on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to Menlo First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Wanda Willingham England, Obit. (C)

Mrs. Wanda Willingham England, age 74 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2026 in a Villa Rica hospital.

Wanda was born in Lafayette, Georgia on December 28, 1951, daughter of the late Wilburn Owen Willingham and Faye Copeland Willingham.  She was a member of the Pennville Baptist Church and was retired from the kitchen of B&B Market.  Following her retirement, she was a caregiver and a staple at Sandra’s Pawn Shop.  Wanda enjoyed reading and taking care of her cat, Smokey.

In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her husbands, Avery T. Pierce and John E. England, Jr.; and two brothers, Steve “Bilver” Willingham and David Willingham.

Wanda is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and John Faulkner; step-daughter and her husband, Teresa and Tony Price; sisters, Sandra Geniece Burrage and Candi Willingham; grandchildren, Grace Faulkner and Emily Parker; seven great grandchildren; special friends, Waydean Jackson, Dot Shankles and Sarah Daniel; family friend, Tony Watson; her wonderful neighbors, Ryan and Skye Crabtree and Gary Broyles; her pastor and his wife, Terry and Kathy Colbert; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside and Interment Services for Wanda will be held Friday, March 20, 2026 at 5:00 P.M. in the AMI Cemetery with Pastor Terry Colbert officiating.

Pallbearers will be Tony Watson, Keith (Jabo) BUrrage, Jeffrey Caldwell, Ryan Crabtree, Darrell Simpson and Mike Flippo.  Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Pennville Baptist Church, Waydean Jackson, Dot Shankles, Sara Daniel, Gary Broyles, Skye Crabtree and Kathy Colbert.

Mr. John Maurice “Fargo” Collette, Obit (C )

Mr. John Maurice “Fargo” Collette, age 80 of Trion, Georgia passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at his residence.

Fargo was born in Tallahassee, Florida on March 12, 1945, son of the late Joseph Wesley “Joe” Collette, Sr. and Zalula Ruth Chamlee Collette.  He was a member of the SonRise Community Church and was retired from the train yard at GE in Rome.  Fargo enjoyed meeting and talking with people and was was well known in the community.  He was a HAMM radio operator and member of the CARC (Chattooga Amateur Radio Club) and was very active on the CERT Team.  He was the unofficial Wal-Mart Greeter and was an avid cat lover.

In addition to his parents, Fargo was preceded in death by a son, John Maurice Collette, Jr. and a grandson, Jordan Reynolds.

Fargo is survived by his children and their spouses, Eisa Collette, Tina Collette, Brian and Savannah Collette and Wess and Wendy Collette; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Teresa Collette, Joe and Jackie Collette and Jody Collette; sister and brother-in-law, Marsha and Steve Smithson; grandchildren, Braxton Sanford, Lilly Keith, Tabitha and Kyle Lutz and Emilie Collette; great grandson, Dex Cargle; a very special friend, Sierra Woods; and a number of nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Memorial Services for Fargo will be held Sunday, March 15, 2026 at 4:00 P.M. in the SonRise Community Church, 1717 Hwy 100, Summerville, GA wih Rev. Kevin Woods officiating.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 P.M. until the service hour at the church.

Mr. William Daniel Luallen, Obit (C)

Mr. William Daniel Luallen, age 47 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026 in a Rome hospital.

Daniel was born in Rome, Georgia on May 19, 1978, son of Robert Lee Luallen, Sr, and Mary Carolyn Brown Luallen.  He was a member of the Berryton Bible Mission and prior to ill health, was employed with Mt. Vernon Mills.  Daniel enjoyed being with his friends, playing pool and looking after his neighborhood cats.

Daniel was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lee “Bobby” Luallen, Jr. and grandparents, Ethel and Bill Luallen and DC Brown and Cledie Riley.

Daniel is survived by his father, Robert Lee Luallen, Sr., mother, Mary Luallen, sister, Paige Luallen; niece, Brooklyn Smith and a nephew, Bobby Smith.

Funeral services for Daniel will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Reynolds officiating.  Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include his cousins and Austin Price and Wayne Holden.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Jeff Strickland, Karen Pullen and Terry Bryant.

Mr. Ronald Leps, Obit. (M)

Mr. Ronald Leps, age 62, of Summerville, GA, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026.

Mr. Leps was born August 30, 1963, in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late Raymond Leps and Rose Marie Geary Moore.  He was previously employed for many years with The Goody Barn and also worked as a handyman.  Mr. Leps was a member of Lyerly Lodge # 338, F&AM, as well as the Chattooga Shrine Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Alexander Leps.

Survivors include his son, Devin Leps; daughters, Starla Robinson and Kayla Leps; brothers, Raymond Leps and Leonard Leps; sisters, Charmaine Kollman, Diane Davis, Ramona Leps, Rose VanHettinga, and Renee Cincotti; grandchildren, Alaina Robinson, Briana Robinson, Trevor Morgan, Trent Morgan, Easton Bradley, Berri Leps, and Leon Leps; great-grandchildren, Oaklynn Amerine and Stella Robinson; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services with Masonic Rites will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 14, 2026, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Min. Deon Phillips officiating.

Mr. Leps will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Friday.

Ms. Janet Elinor Treadaway, Obit. (M)

Ms. Janet Elinor Treadaway, age 77, of Menlo, GA, joined her grandson, Zachary, in Heaven on  Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Kindred Hospital in Chattanooga, TN.

Ms. Treadaway was born September 28, 1948, in Norfolk, MA, daughter of the late Donald Harold Lang and Elinor Mable Johnson Lang.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Beverly Lang and Donna Melzer; grandson, Zachary Mejia; and a great-granddaughter, Azalea Bullock.

Survivors include her son, Ricky Treadaway; daughters, Georgina (Buford) Knopps, Sarah Mejia, Kristin Bullock, and Katy Simpson; brothers, Kevin Lang, Johnny Lang; a sister, Cynthia “Cindy” (Neil) Musante; grandchildren, Nick Mejia, Jonathon Mejia, Sophia Mejia, Kaylee Knopps, Gabriel Knopps, Katherine Bullock, Kristen Posada, Douglas Simpson, and Cara Simpson

Graveside and interment services will be held at 12:30 P.M. Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Lyerly Cemetery with Rev. Freddie Bell officiating.  Pallbearers will be Jonathan Mejia, Nick Mejia, and Buford Knopps.

There will be no visitation and those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Lyerly Cemetery.

Mr. Eugene Franklin “Gene” Todd, Obit. (M)

Mr. Eugene Franklin “Gene” Todd, age 82, of Gaylesville, AL, died Sunday, March 8, 2026, at his residence.

Mr. Todd was born April 21, 1943, in Jamestown, AL, son of the late Milton and Ethel McCullough Todd.  He was a member and Deacon of Faith Baptist Church of Gaylesville, and prior to his retirement, was self-employed in the logging industry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Hartline Todd; brother, Johnny (Charlotte) Todd; sisters, Louise (Charles) Bynum, and Azie (John) Crane.

Survivors include his wife, Vera Todd; daughters, Beth (Jeremy) Fletcher, Stephanie (Bobby) Kuykendall; a sister, Karen (Lee) Warren; grandchildren, Parker Fletcher, Aydn Heinrich, Devyn (Eric) West, Madison Dobbs; and great-grandchildren, Isla West and Kiplin West.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. (GA Time) Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Faith Baptist Church with Pastor Clay Moreland officiating.  Interment will follow in the Faith Baptist Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Lee Warren, Austyn Todd, Dewayne Bynum, Buster Bynum, Kenny Wilbanks, and Richard McCullough.

Mr. Todd will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. (GA Time) on Tuesday.  He will also lie in state at the church on Wednesday from 3:00 P.M. until the hour of service.

Mr. James Larry Norton, Obit. (M)

Mr. James Larry Norton, age 69, of Summerville, GA, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026, at his residence.

Mr. Norton was born November 5, 1956, in Summerville, GA, son of the late James Calvin Norton, Sr. and Lora Frances Tucker Norton.  He was a member of Four Mile Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, was employed with AT&T  Mr. Norton was also a veteran of the United States Air Force.  He was retired from the National Guard where he served as a Senior Master Sergeant.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Diane Norton.

Survivors include his wife, Myra Wade Norton; son, James Eric Norton (Ashley Lynn); sisters, Joan Sheryl (Dale) Willingham, Linda (Emory) Tallent, and Karen (David) Fletcher; grandchildren, Lyndee Norton and Asher Norton.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joel Smith officiating.  Interment will follow in Summerville Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be David Fletcher, Jr., Brian Hammitt, Robbie Kelley, Casey Hunter, Michael Parker, and Stephen Parker.

Mrs. Maggie Jo Tucker, Obit. (C)

Mrs. Maggie Jo Tucker, age 93 of Trion, Georgia passed away Thursday, March 5, 2026 at the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Tucker was born in Trion, Georgia on April 4, 1932, daughter of the late Ralph McKinley Watkins and Jewel Maggie Pack Watkins.  She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church, attended Dry Valley Baptist Church and had worked in the Spinning Department of Mt. Vernon Mills. Mrs. Tucker was an avid animal lover, enjoyed working with flowers and thought Steve Harvey was absolutely hilarious.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tucker was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Tucker;  two sisters, Betty Williams and Faye Williams; and two brothers, Edward “Buddy” Watkins and Franklin “Frankie” Watkins.

Mrs. Tucker is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Max Lamar and Myra Tucker; daughters and son-in-law, Deborah Tucker and Lynn and Mike Dawson; sisters, Joyce Grogan and Shirley Ratliff; brothers, Cecil Watkins, David Watkins, Ray Watkins, Paul Watkins and Sherman Watkins; grandchildren, Corey(Carrie) Bramlett, Melanie(Shannon Murphy) Duke, Dewayne Dawson, John(Sarah) Dawson, Jennifer Dawson and Ryan(Hawk) Martin; 10 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and  nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Tucker will be held Monday, March 9, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Casey Bramlett officiating.  Interment will follow in the Green Hills Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Randall Watkins, Hank Martin, John Dawson, Dewayne Dawson, Shannon Murphy and John James Dawson.

The family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.

MR. KERRIN RICARDO PRICE- Age 58, Of Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, February 28, 2026. Mr. Price was born on September 22, 1967 to his late parents, Howard “Joe” Price and Joyce Lee Sturdivant Price. He was employed at Mohawk Carpets and he attended Chattooga County School.

 

Survivors are his loving and devoted wife, Shirley Wooten Price; three children, LaTonya Wooten, Tony Wooten, and Ricardo (Raven) Price; brother, Pierre Price; two aunts, June Carol S. Johnson and Pamela S. Madden; uncle, John Hall; a host of other loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

 

Homegoing Service will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 2:00 P. M. at New Bethel Baptist Church, 281 Georgia Avenue, Summerville, Georgia 30747 with Pastor Kevin Roach as Eulogist and other Ministers officiating.
