Mr. Billy Ray Clark, Sr. age 78 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at his residence.

Mr. Clark was born in Trion, Georgia on July 18, 1944, son of the late Joseph Hill Clark and Sarah Katherine Wright Clark. He was a member of the Cornerstone Pentecostal Church in Cedar Bluff and was retired from Reichold Chemical Company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his dogs.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Clark was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Watkins and a great granddaughter, Rena Flood.  Mr. Clark is survived by his wife, Kay Clark; daughters and son-in-law, Tina and Wayne Flood, Linda Newton and Elaine Lindsey; sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Connie Clark and Dwayne and Lacy Clark; brother, Louis Clark; 11 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Clark will be held Friday, September 2, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Collins officiating.

Mr. Clark will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.

Mr. Billy Joe Young, age 83, of Lyerly, GA, died Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Crowne Health Care of Fort Payne.

Mr. Young was born January 21, 1939, in Berryton, GA, son of the late Samuel “Sam” Young and Dossie Parker Young. He was a member of Perennial Springs Baptist Church and was retired from Riegel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Rachel Young McNair, Herman Collins Young, Luther Aubrey Young, and Harold Edward Young.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Teague Young; daughter, Sheila Young Mount; son Billy Michael Young; brother, John Kelly Young; grandchildren, Crystal Weaver, Sharon Weaver, Dakota Young (Nikki Crabtree), and Destinee Young (Tyler Bell); and a great-grandchild, Hayzlee Bell.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 3, 2022, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Howell and Rev. Antoney Patterson officiating. The casket will be escorted by granddaughters, Crystal Weaver, Sharon Weaver, and Destinee Young.

Interment will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dakota Young, Tyler Bell, David Pittman, James Pittman, Lee McKeehan, and Brandon Pittman. Mr. David Loyd Hall, age 80, of Gaylesville, AL, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at his residence.

Mr. Hall was born July 18, 1942, in Mentone, AL, son of the late Oscar Yuel and Eula Carrol Hall.

Mr. Mountain was born June 1, 1961, in Rome, GA, son of the late Clifford and Ava Norton Mountain. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was employed as an environmental specialist with Gerdau Steel Mill.

Mr. Fred Bennie White, age 79, of Menlo, GA, died Monday, August 29, 2022, at his residence.

Mr. White was born August 3, 1943, in Summerville, GA, son of the late James and Lottie McNeese White. Mr. White enjoyed watching his Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs. He also loved riding around on any back road he could find.  Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Mohawk as a Crew Leader.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Henry White, Johnny Lee White, Bobby James White, and Billy White.

Survivors include his son, Kevin (Tammy) White; a daughter, Keitha Vaughan; sisters, Betty Jo (Phil) Rogers, Shirley Culberson, and Gail Anderson; grandchildren, Jessica (John) Ware, Maci Tucker, Alex Tucker, and Jacob Vaughan; great-grandchildren, Annslee Tucker and Addie Mae Ware.

Mr. James Julian “Cat” Williams, age 84 of Trion, Georgia passed away Thursday, August 25, 2022 at a Rome hospital.

Mr. Williams was born in Trion, Georgia on September 24, 1937, son of the late John Henry Williams and Pauline Ware Williams. He was retired from the Cloth Room at Mt. Vernon Mills.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and watching baseball. In addition to his parents, Mr. Williams was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Cabe.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Betty Louise Williams; step children, Rickey and Melinda Tucker and Trena and Denny Strickland; sister, Shirley Woodall; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Ann Williams; grandchildren, Matthew Cabe, Amy and Steve Helms and Jason and Selena Tucker; 5 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Max Russell Baldwin, Obit (R)

MR. MAX RUSSELL BALDWIN, Sr., age 85, of Dry Valley Church Road Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday August 25th, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Summerville, Georgia on March 5, 1937, son of the late Archie R. and Annie Ruth Baines Baldwin. Mr. Baldwin retired in 1980 as a Major of the United States Army serving in Vietnam two terms and achieved Master Senior Aviator. He was a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, the late Gracie Ruth Hall.

Surviving are his loving Wife, Peggy Shamblin Baldwin; Daughter, Virginia Ruth Baldwin; Sons, Max Russell Baldwin II and Patrick S. Baldwin, M.D.; Grandchildren, Cassidy Shea Baldwin, M.D, Dylan Shamblin Baldwin, Catlin Rae Meredith, Max Edwin Kohl, James Ryan Kohl and Islay Ruth Kohl.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday August 28th, 2022 from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Woods and Mr. John Shamblin officiating. Mr. Edward Dale Chastain, age 70, of Summerville, GA, died Friday, August 26, 2022, at Advent Health Redmond.

Mr. Chastain was born September 1, 1951, in Rome, GA, son of the late Edward Eugene and Lucille Fite Chastain. He was a member of Silver Hill Baptist Church and was employed with Mohawk. He was a Sergeant in the United States Army having served in Vietnam.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Parsons Chastain; brother, Donnie Chastain; and a sister, Ann McCoy.  Survivors include his sister-in-law, Elaine Chastain; and a nephew, Shane Chastain.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 29, 2022, at Silver Hill Cemetery with Rev. Thomas Farmer officiating. Pallbearers will be nephews and friends.

Mr. Dearl Rex Cook, age 84 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at his residence.

Mr. Cook was born in Summerville, Georgia on April 14, 1938, son of the late Clarence Ellis Cook and Annie Ruth Spain Cook. He was a member of the Wayside Baptist Church and prior to retirement, was employed in the Maintenance Department of Mt. Vernon Mills. He enjoyed woodworking, especially making walking sticks, loved to tinker around in his shops and loved going to Trade Day. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his brother, Francis Ellis “Cookie” Cook and a son-in-law, Greg Eaves.

Mr. Cook is survived by his wife, Imogene Holloway Cook; sons, Greg and Gail Cook and Scott and Melissa Cook; daughters and son-in-law, Annette Cook Eaves and Gina and Jimbo Crabtree; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside and Interment services for Mr. Cook will be held Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 4:30 P.M. in the West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Ricky Harris officiating. Rev. John Hayes will have a prayer with the family at the funeral home.

Mr. Kenneth Turner Venable, age 79 of Summerville, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2022 surrounded by his family at a Rome area hospital.

Mr. Venable was born in Cedartown, Georgia on January 21, 1943, son of the late Otis Turner Venable and Jessie May Osburn Venable. He had been employed as a Carpenter prior to working and retiring from Bigelow-Sanford. Mr. Venable was a jack of all trades and could fix just about anything. He enjoyed going to yard sales and Trade Day; and was a great pool player. In addition to his parents, Mr. Venable was preceded in death by his wife, Briana Jane Venable and a baby sister, Glenda Venable.

Mr. Venable is survived by his children, Wayne (Diane) Venable; Lisa (Susan) Venable, and Adriana Venable; brother, Charles W. Venable; grandchildren, Jesse (Carl) Moses, Alexis Abernathy and Emily (Joseph) Keith; great grandchildren, Owen Moses, Kinsley Moses, Bennett McElwee and Brenley McElwee; and a number of nieces and nephews.
