MRS. CAROLYN A. SPRAGGINS, age 79, of Summerville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2022, in a Rome hospital. She was born in Trion, Georgia on February 21, 1943 a daughter of the late Johnnie and Gladys Searles Ivey. Mrs. Spraggins was a member of the Summerville First Baptist Church, was retired from Best Mfg. Company sewing department, and was preceded in death by her husband, the late Charles W. Spraggins on December 9, 2014.
Surviving are daughter, Penny and Pat Headrick; son, Chad and Tara Spraggins; grandchildren, Ryan Headrick, Whitney and Wesley Dobbins, Sierra Campbell, and Jacob Spraggins; great grandchildren Ruby Dobbins and Rory Dobbins; sisters, Jane and Mike Floyd and Debbie and Arnold Kilgo; brothers, Dennis and Joan Ivey, Steve and Yvonne Ivey; special friend, John William Thomas; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 29th, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Dr. Kenneth Summey officiating, interment in Greenhills Memory Garden. Active Pallbearers Jacob Spraggins, Ryan Headrick, Wesley Dobbins, Steven Fountain, Mickey Floyd, Mark Floyd. Visitation will be Saturday from 12:00 noon until 2 :00 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

MRS. CAROLYN HOWELL DODD, age 78, of Red Leaf Lane, Summerville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her residence Tuesday, October 25, 2022. A native of Trion, She was born on February 22, 1944 to the late Earl and Bonnie Tidmore Howell. Carolyn was a member of Four Mile Baptist Church and prior to retirement was payroll clerk for Mount Vernon Mills.
Surviving are Her husband, Malcolm Dodd; sons, David and Darlene Lloyd, Wayne Lloyd and Cristy Blair, Barry and Ernie Dodd, Scott and Natalie Dodd; Eleven Grandchildren, Four Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, October 27th, at 6:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Joel Smith and Rev. Doyle Kelley officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ronnie and Babs White, Bobby Ward, Don Henderson, Susan Wallin, Vicki Holbrooks, Jason Tucker, and all former Co-Workers. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home. The Family request no flowers and suggest contributions to the American Kidney Foundation or a charity of choice.

Mrs. Marie Ewton Smith, age 93, of Menlo, GA, died Saturday, October 22, 2022, at her residence.
Mrs. Smith was born May 24, 1929, in Dunlap, TN, daughter of the late William Madison Ewton and Ruth Cunningham Ewton. She was Baptist by faith, and prior to her retirement, served as Vice President of J.P. Smith Lumber Company.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her sisters, Anna Lee Harmon, Loreen Evans, Mildred Ammons, and Evelyn Wilkes; and her brother, Charles Ewton.
Survivors include her sister, Gertrude Narramore; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at Alpine Community Church. Interment will follow in Alpine Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tim Brown, Chuck Harris, Jason Harris, Roy Morris, Jayce Harris, and Mark Fullam.
There will be no visitation.
Mrs. Smith truly enjoyed dining at the Menlo Restaurant, especially in her latter years. Nancy and Cissy invite anyone who would like to honor Mrs. Smith to come in and have some coffee and breakfast and share your memories with them from 8:30 until 10:30 A.M. Wednesday prior to the service.

Mrs. Jeanette Floyd Dotson Broome, age 95, passed away at home on Saturday, October 22, 2022, surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Broome was born August 15, 1927, in Centre, AL, to the late Beman and Lilly Maddox Floyd.
Upon her death, she was living in Trion, GA; prior to that, she lived most of her life in Lyerly, GA and Menlo, GA. She loved spending time with family and listening to gospel music. Mrs. Broome had many talents: quilting, canning, playing the guitar, and singing. She attended the Resaca Assembly of God in Resaca, GA.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, Herman Coolidge “Coot” Dotson and Hoyett Broome; 2 sons, Franklin LaDon “Don” Dotson and Aaron Timothy “Tim” Dotson; a step granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Chapman; and 3 siblings, Mary Trammell, Geraldine Taylor, and Thurman Floyd.
Mrs. Broome is survived by her daughter Kathy (Darrell “Steve”) Burns, 4 grandchildren, Stacy (Christy) Burns, Gary (Peggy) Dotson, Jeff Dotson, and Darian (Anna) Dotson; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Broome will be held at 1 PM on Friday, October 28, in the Chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Pastor Darrell Steve Burns officiating. Interment will follow at Johnson Cemetery with Jeff Dotson, Gary Dotson, Zack Dotson, Dwight Dotson, Darian Dotson, and Casey Ramey serving as pallbearers. Stacy Burns is an honorary pallbearer.

Mrs. Meblean Duncan Decker, age 90 of Summerville, GA passed away Saturday, October 22, 2022 at a local healthcare facility. Mrs. Decker was born November 6, 1931. She enjoyed Gardening, music and reading. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Decker; a son, Dwight Decker; and a daughter, Sandra Decker Santa Barara.
Survivors include her sons, Dennis (Rita) Decker and Danny (Peggy) Decker; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Butch Cordle, Sr. age 65 of Trion, GA passed away Thursday, October 20, 2022 at a Rome hospital.
Mr. Cordle was born November 3, 1956 in Trion, GA to the late Robert and Goldie Sue Thomas Cordle. He was an active member and deacon of Welcome Hill Baptist Church, a Free Mason, and was retired from the City of Summerville.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by siblings, Jerry Cordle and Linda Cordle.
Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Tammy Westbrooks Cordle; children, Butch (Debra) Cordle, Jr. and Brandi (Todd) Buchanan; sister Sharon (Kelise) Hurst; grandchildren, Laci (Derrick) McNair, Victoria Buchanan, Coulton Buchanan, Brittonie Cordle and Anna Cordle; great-grandchildren, Alyssa & Murphy McNair; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Cordle will be held at 3:00 PM Monday- October 24 at the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Shores officiating. MR. MAX RUSSELL BALDWIN, Sr., age 85, of Dry Valley Church Road Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday August 25th, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Summerville, Georgia on March 5, 1937, son of the late Archie R. and Annie Ruth Baines Baldwin. Mr. Baldwin retired in 1980 as a Major in the United States Army serving in Vietnam two terms and achieved Master Senior Aviator. He was a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, the late Gracie Ruth Hall.
Surviving are his loving Wife, Peggy Shamblin Baldwin; Daughter, Virginia Ruth Baldwin; Sons, Max Russell Baldwin II and Patrick S. Baldwin, M.D.; Grandchildren, Cassidy Shea Baldwin, M.D, Dylan Shamblin Baldwin, Catlin Rae Meredith, Max Edwin Kohl, James Ryan Kohl and Islay Ruth Kohl.

Mrs. Barbara Jean Teems McCrickard age 83 of Centre, AL passed away Friday, October 14, 2022 at a local hospital.
Mrs. McCrickard was born December 5, 1938 in Trion, GA to the late James and Mary Garmany Teems. She was retired from Mohawk Industries with over 40 years of service, and she was a faithful member of Sardis Baptist Church always working in the VBS program. She was a good wife, mother, grandmother, and person who could always be counted on.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Jack R. McCrickard; and siblings James Teems, Jr., and Diane Bennett.
Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Michael and Robbie McCrickard and John McCrickard; daughter, Melody Ayers; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. McCrickard will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, October 21, 2022 at the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Dewayne Teague officiating.
