MRS. LINDA GORHAM BURKHALTER, age 71, of Hair Lake Road, Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017, at her residence.  She was born December 9, 1945, a daughter of the late William McKinley and Ida Wisner Gorham.  She was preceded in death by her husband, the late James H. Burkhalter on December 20, 2016.
 
Surviving are her, son & companion, James Grant Burkhalter and Wendy Thomas Ash, Grandchildren, Cayla Burkhalter, Trace Burkhalter, and Evan Burkhalter, Great granddaughter, Ashlynn Burkhalter, Sisters Estelle Johnson and Catherine Hawkins, Brother & sister-in-law, Garvin (Barbara) Gorham, sisters-in-law, Joann Derusha,  and Ruth Alexander; special friends Margaret & Howard Dillard; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 2nd, at 11:00 A.M. from Graveside in West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Mickey Skates officiating.  Clifford Hughes, James Hughes, Tommy Hughes, Freddy Hughes, David Ledbetter, and Donald Blackwell Visitation will be Friday from 10 A.M. until the hour of service.

Mr. Johnny Franklin Jenkins Obit (C)

Mr. Johnny Franklin Jenkins, age 79 of Trion, Georgia formerly of Dalton, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017 at the Floyd Medical Center.

 

Mr. Jenkins was born in Monroe County, Tennessee on November 4, 1937,  son of the late Leslie Marsellus Jenkins and Ella Carolyn Van Winkle Jenkins.  He was a member of the Harvest Worship Center in Trion, was retired from Brown Printing and was an avid and talented stringed instrument musician.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Jenkins was preceded in death by infant twins, Terry and Perry Jenkins; brother, Robert James Jenkins and sister, Lula Mae Reed.

 

Mr. Jenkins is survived by his wife, Betty Jenkins; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Stephanie Jenkins and Gary and Anne Jenkins; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Mike Rankin; grandchildren, Mason Jenkins, Madicyn Morrisette; Ashley Rankin and Jacob Rankin; two great grandchildren, Kinsley Rankin and Alyssa Stephens, and a number of nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Services for Mr. Jenkins will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 6:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Bishop Phil Minter officiating.  Private Interment will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.

 

Mr. Jenkins will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 3:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.

Mr. John Loyd Hicks Obit (ER)

MR. JOHN LOYD HICKS, age 98, of Summervile, Georgia passed away Sunday evening in a Collinsville, Alabama nursing home. 

Born in Floyd County, Georgia on August 9, 1918, a son of the late Grady L. and Bernice Rowan Hicks.   Mr. Hicks was preceded in death by brothers, Leonard Hicks and Winford C. Hicks. He was Baptist by faith, a proud Veteran of the U. S. Army serving during WW II.  He was a very kind, gentle, and caring Man.  Was loved by all who knew Him; to have had relationship with Him was truly a blessing.

Surviving are brothers and their wife’s, Sherman (Lois) Hicks, James Rowan (Tommie) Hicks, and Jere (Dora) Hicks; many Nieces and Nephews.

A graveside ceremony will be held Thursday, June 1st, at 2:00 P.M. at the Summervile Cemetery, officiate will be Chrystal Hicks; pallbearers, Mark Hicks, Jesse Hicks, Mike Hicks, Kyle Hicks, Trent Hicks, and Wendall Hicks.

MR. MAX ALEXANDER WILSON, age 77, of Rose Circle, Trion, Georgia passed away Sunday morning at his residence.  A native of Chattooga County, Mr. Wilson was born to the late Milton Everett and Kay Nell Alexander Wilson on February 14, 1940.  Mr. Wilson was retired over-the-road truck driver and operated his own construction company.

Surviving are His wife, Marsha Ray Wilson; sons, Max A. Wilson, II, Adam A. Wilson, Shane I. Wilson, Heath E. Wilson, Devin J. Campbell, Micheal Handcock, Kevin Bentley, Anthony Campbell; daughters, Beverly Schafer and Dianna Campbell;  sister-in-law, Benita Vogel; nieces & Nephews, Kristen & Andy Postula, Michael & Megan Vogel, Randy McDonald, Jayme McDonald; grandchildren, Emberly Thompson, Amy Lourenco, Max A. Mrs. Clarice Lorene Witt Littlejohn, Obit (M)

Mrs. Clarice Lorene Witt Littlejohn, age 92, of LaFayette, GA, died Friday, May 26, 2017, at her residence.
 
Mrs. Littlejohn was born June 11, 1924, in Trion, GA, daughter of the late Earl McKinley Witt and Mary Lillian Pearl Bruce Witt.  She was a member of the Waterville Baptist Church, and prior to her retirement, was employed with the Georgia Glove Mill.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Reuben Oliver Littlejohn; sister, Annie Bell Witt Mann; and brothers, J. C. Witt and Raymond Witt.
 
Mrs. Littlejohn is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Aaron Sprayberry; brother and sister-in-law, Leroy and Lydia Witt; 2 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Littlejohn will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, May 27, 2017, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Patterson officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Charles Edward Milstead, Sr. Obit (M)

Mr. Charles Edward Milstead, Sr., age 77, of Summerville, GA, died Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at his residence.

Mr. Milstead was born April 4, 1940, in Summerville, GA, son of the late Julius Jessie and Clara Pettyjohn Milstead.  Prior to his retirement, he had worked as a carpenter with Shahan Construction as well as for a local union at Plant Bowen.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bennie Milstead; and sisters, Mary Jane “Janie” Kilgo, and Annie Ruth Lasseter.

Mr. Milstead is survived by his sons, Charles Edward Milstead, Jr., Daniel Scott Milstead, and Richard Milstead; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Wayne Gentry, Debra and Keith Farmer, Belinda Milstead, Kim Dean, and Dana and Keith Dupree; brothers and sisters-in-law, Levi and Joyce Milstead, Albert Doyle and Margaret Milstead; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Joe Beard; grandchildren, David Farmer, Chris Farmer, Jessica Gentry, Faith Gentry, Joe Gentry, Kasey Milstead, Chuckie Dupree, Michell Dupree, Randall Dupree, Denise Jones, Christy Dean, Jeff Dean, Charles Milstead III, Troi Milstead, Derek Milstead, Jaden Mitchell, Hailey Mitchell, Annabelle Mitchell, and Dylan Michaels; and 17 great-grandchildren.

In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Milstead will be cremated and there will be a gathering of family and friends at Mason Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 30, 2017.

Mr. William Hubert “Joe” Davenport (M)

Mr. William Hubert “Joe” Davenport, age 87, of Trion, GA, passed away Saturday May 20, 2017, at Floyd Medical Center.
Mr. Davenport was born August 13, 1929, in Blue Ridge, GA, the son of the late Huland Burg and Lula Conley Davenport.  He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and was retired from Bekaert Steel.  He was a veteran of the United States Army where he earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Army of Occupation Medal (Germany).  After his retirement, he also worked part-time with the Chattooga County Department of Public Works.  Mr. Davenport was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.  He enjoyed having a summer garden, doing yard work, and attending church.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Wayne Davenport, J. B. Davenport, Charles Davenport; and sisters, Ruth Cochran and Mae Hayes. 
Mr. Davenport is survived by his wife, Bobby Louise Johnson Davenport; sons, Jerry Davenport and Terry Davenport; daughters and sons-in-law, Babs and Ronnie White, Wanda and Carl Spinks; brothers, Vester Davenport and Floyd Davenport; sisters, Lola Bailey, Betty Aaron, and Bertie Shields; grandchildren, Kelly Walker, Eric Bowers, Jeremy and April Davenport, Kristin and Ryan Wilson, and Jessica Davenport; Breanna Bowers, Olivia and Alex Walker, Lexi and Jared Davenport, and Annakate Wilson.
Funeral services for Mr. Davenport will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 23, 2017, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ralph Sumner and Rev. Sanford DeBerry officiating.  Interment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens.  Active pallbearers will be Ryan Wilson, Jeremy Davenport, Alex Walker, Patrick Strawn, Jared Davenport, and Austin Vuckovich.  Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Fellowship Baptist Church.

Mr. Ralph Edward Huskey, age 60, of Trion, GA, passed away Friday May 19, 2017, in Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Huskey was born August 31, 1956,  in Ft Oglethrope, GA, the son of Claude Delmus and Margie Lorene Clark Huskey.  He was a member of  the Four Mile Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret June Huskey, children, Claude & (Bobbie) Huskey,  Jennifer Barksdale, Margie  Huskey, &( William Purser), brothers, Leon Huskey, Darrel & Becky Huskey, sisters, Carolyn Clark, Donna & (John) Worham, Pat Kaylor, Margaret Stone, 5 grandchildren.

Mr. Reynolds was born  March 4, 1942, in Summerville, GA, the son of Willie Lee and Myrtle Teems Reynolds.  Henry attended the New Haven Baptist Church.

Survivors include his brother, Johnny Reynolds, sister, Barbara Stevens,  his special care givers, Betty Stclair, Greg Swinford, Kim (Tim) Lane, Calvin Holt, Hattie Williams.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m.  Monday May 22, 2017, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.
