MS. DAISY MAE FIFE – Age 75, of Rome, Georgia passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2017.  She was born on February 17, 1942 to the late Mr. Reuben Williams and Daisy Lee Kincaide Williams. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Raymond Williams, Albert Williams, Jimmy Williams, and Emanuel Williams, sister, Lula Mae Davis, two children, Lisa Fife and Ricky Fife, and one grandson, Patrick Fife.

She is survived by two sons, Ben A. (Patricia) Fife of Centre, Alabama and Rodney (Miriam) Fife of Cedartown, Georgia; one daughter, Annette Speights of Summerville, Georgia; daughter-in-law, Vivian Workman of Barnwell, South Carolina; five sisters, Dorothy Johnson, Mary Thurman, Patricia Williams, Bertha (Billy) Johnson, and Helen Williams; two brothers, David Williams of Summerville, and Lee Williams of Louisana; grandchildren, Felicia Hendrix, Erica Fife, Gwen Fife, Tanessa Fife, Ben Fife, Jr. of Centre, Shameika (Jody) Brown of Summerville, Morrio (Dawn) Fife of Dallas, Georgia, Rodneshia Fife of Birmingham, Alabama, Richelle Fife, Ricki Fife, and Ricky Fife, Jr. of Barnwell; twenty-three great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; special friends, Yvonne Etchinson and Sarah Ruth Thompson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Homegoing Service will be held Monday, March 6, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at the New Spirit and Truth of Jesus Assembly Church with Bishop Jackie Wilson as eulogist and Bishop V.T. Harden officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Interment, Summerville Cemetery.

Mrs. Sarah Ruth Mostiller Benson, Obit (Willis)

MRS. SARAH RUTH MOSTILLER BENSON – Age 70, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Monday, February 27, 2017. She was born February 17, 1947 in Summerville, Georgia to the late Lee Forrest and Juanita Richardson Mostiller. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church and was preceded in death by two brothers, Raulston Mostiller and Earnest Mostiller.

She is survived by her son, Gwynae Shropshire of Dalton, Georgia; daughters, Andrea (Louis) Joseph of Sahuarita, Arizona and Tonia (Derrick) Johnson of Summerville, Georgia; longtime and devoted companion, James Hendrix of Centre, Alabama; grandchildren, Brittney (Atley) Settles of Nashville, Tennessee, Jasmine Joseph of Sahuarita, and Louis Joseph II; great granddaughter, Krimsym Settles; brother, Tommy Dewayne (Gail) Mostiller of Lithonia, Georgia; sister-in-law, Jacki Mostiller of Rome, Georgia; uncle, Jack Mostiller of Summerville; special cousins, Rena Mae Anthony, Sharon Leak, Rochelle Bell, and Clarence Moore; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

MR. JAMES FRANK THURMAN – Age 66, of Rome, Georgia passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Floyd Medical Center. He was a member of Thankful Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his parents, James and Myrtle Thurman, son, Steven Thurman, grandson, Kevin Tyrone Thurman, sister, Nona Adams, and brother, William Steve Thurman.

He is survived by his loving wife, Glenice Elaine Thurman; sons, Brittany (Tabitha Bankston) Thurman and Christian (Michelene) Thurman of Rome, Georgia; daughters, Kira (Kurt Lowrey) Thurman of Cartersville, Georgia and Crystal (Erica Beck) Roberts of North Carolina; grandchildren, Brittavious Thurman and Pharrell Thurman; sisters, Brenda Williamson, Robin Williams, and Pamela (Warren) Albert of Summerville, Georgia; brothers, Michael (Sandra) Allen of Cartersville, Vernon (Sandy) Thurman of Summerville, and Jerry (Bernice) Allen of Atlanta, Georgia; aunts, Frankie Shropshire and Joan Terrell of Rome; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Ernest Samuel Trammell, Sr., Obit (M)

Mr. Ernest Samuel Trammell, Sr., age 74, of Summerville, GA, died Sunday, February 26, 2017, at Redmond Regional Medical.

Mr. Trammell was born September 23, 1942, in Trion, GA, son of the late Willie Samuel and Alene Walters Trammell.  He was Holiness by faith, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Mount Vernon Mills.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Sherman Trammell, Junior Trammell, and Ray Trammell; sisters, Sherlene Trammell and Evelene Trammell.

Mr. Trammell is survived by his wife, Dorthy Trammell; sons and daughter-in-law, Sammy and Shannon Trammell, Jimmy Watson; daughter, Wanda Watson; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Charlene Trammell; 9 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Trammell will be held at 4:00 P.M. Thursday, March 2, 2017, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin J. Norton officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Ladon Trammell, Corey Watson, Chris Watson, Nathan Dunn, Brandon Watson, and David Parris.

Mrs. Beatrice Gardner Obit (ER)

MRS. BEATRICE GARDNER, age 92, of Forster Street, Lyerly, Georgia passed away Monday, February 27, 2017, in a Rome health care.  A native of Chattooga County, Georgia, She was born to the late William Oscar and Grace Beatrice Garner Reece, on May 31, 1924.   Mrs. Gardner was a member of Lyerly United Methodist Church, and served as Membership Secretary and Historian of the church; she was also a member of the W. M. U. of Lyerly United Methodist Church.  She was preceded in death by husband, the late Benjamin F. (Ben) Gardner.

Surviving are daughters and spouse, Mary Elizabeth Clements of Silver Creek and Patricia & Artie Pledger of Lyerly; son and spouse, Butch & Nancy Gardner of Summerville; brother, Frank A. Reece of Lyerly; special friend, Rose Jackson; nine Grandchildren, twenty four Great Grandchildren, and four Great Great Grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 1st, at 3:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Brett Clements and Rev. Marshall Bryan officiating, interment in Lyerly Cemetery.  Active Pallbearers Rev. Shane Clements, Rev. Ben Clements, Tyler W. Pledger, Corey Wells, Nick Robinson, and Guthrie Frazier; Honorary Pallbearers, members of the Lyerly United Methodist Church W. M. Mr. Kenneth Franklin Dawson Obit (M)

Mr. Kenneth Franklin Dawson, age 55, of Centre, AL, died Sunday, February 26, 2017, at his residence.

Mr. Dawson was born July 25, 1961, in Summerville, GA, son of Ann McGraw Freer and the late Charles Franklin Dawson.  He was a member of the Berryton Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Dekalb Refrigeration.   Mr. Dawson also served as a firefighter with the Broomtown Volunteer Fire Department.  In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Kenny Dawson.

Mr. Dawson is survived by his wife, Elaine Dawson; daughter, Tabitha Dawson; step-daughter, Sherry Bowen; sister, Christy Carlson; and 11 grandchildren.

Graveside and interment services for Mr. Dawson will be held at 2:00 P.M. (E.S.T.) Thursday, March 2, 2017, from the Union Hill “Needmore” Cemetery with Rev. John McGraw officiating.  Pallbearers will be Michael Dawson, Wesley Dawson, Ricky Burrage, John Burrage, Adam McGraw, and Travis Barnes.

Mr. William Boyce Keith Sr, Obit. (M)

Mr. William Boyce Keith, Sr., age 86 of LaFayette, GA died Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Parkridge East Hospital.
Mr. Keith was born November 4, 1930, in Fort Payne, AL, son of the late William Wallace and Margaret Dobbs Keith.  He was a deacon and Sunday School Teacher at Ridgeway Baptist Church for many years, and was well known for his knowledge and teaching of the Bible, especially the Book of Revelations.  Prior to his retirement, he worked as a supervisor with Barwick.  Mr. Keith was also a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War, where he earned the Bronze Star Medal as well as the Purple Heart.   
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Mann Keith; brothers, Clyde Keith, Glenn Earl Keith, Seldon Keith, Billy Jack Keith, and Melvin Keith; and a sister, Virginia Cordle.
Mr. Keith is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, William Boyce Jr. and Jane Keith; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna Leshia and Darrell Rhudy, Sherry Lynette and John Lawrence; brothers, W. J. Keith, Troy Keith, and Roger Keith; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Mr. Keith will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 28, 2017, from the Ridgeway Baptist Church with Rev. Todd Smith and Rev. Robert Patterson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Ridgeway Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be grandchildren.
Mr. Keith will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday, February 27, 2017.  He will also be in state at Ridgeway Baptist Church from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Tuesday.

Mrs. Margaret Louise Westbrook Stewart (C)

Mrs. Margaret Louise Westbrook Stewart, age 80 of Soddy Daisy, TN passed away Friday, February 24, 2017.

Mrs. Stewart was born in Trion, Georgia on February 29, 1936, daughter of the late Thomas Hamilton “Hamp” Westbrook and Olivia Elizabeth Brown Westbrook.  She was a member of the Trion United Methodist Church, where she was active for many years.  Mrs. Stewart was a 1954 graduate of Trion High School, and was active in the Alumni Association, helping many students to receive college scholarships.  She earned her A.S. Degree from Reinhardt College, her  B.S. Degree from Georgia Teachers College, and earned her Master’s Degree from Middle Tennessee State University.  She was a member of the Georgia State Teachers Retirement Association and Delta Kappa Gamma.  Mrs. Stewart was a retired teacher and coach from Jonesboro High School.  She coached numerous sports and worked with the youth at Jonesboro United Methodist Church.  She touched many lives during her life as evidenced by the many calls, cards and visits she received from family, friends, fellow teachers and former students.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by brothers, George Gaylord Westbrook, C. Ralph Brown, and Glen Westbrook; nephew, Rob Westbrook; and nieces, Kay B. Scott and Dinky W. Warren.

Mrs. Stewart is survived by nieces and nephews, Edwina and Rick Montgomery, Catherine and Gene McNabb, Tom Westbrook, Tim and Debbie Westbrook, Chris Westbrook, Michelle Warren, Danielle Croom, John Westbrook, David and Cindy Westbrook, Butch Westbrook and Christy Taylor; sister-in-law, Linda Westbrook and numerous cousins, great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Stewart will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Skip Mitchell and Rev. Dan Scott officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Nephews.

Mrs. Stewart will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
