Mrs. Annie Laura Pledger

Mrs. Annie Laura Pledger, age 81, of Summerville, GA, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Pledger was born November 20, 1932, in LaFayette, GA, a daughter of the late Howard Paul and Sally Ida Simms Williams.  She was a homemaker.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar I. Wilson; a brother, Tommy Anderson Williams; sisters, Betty Sue McGraw and Frances Williams.

Mrs. Pledger is survived by her sons, Jerry Wilson, Buster Wilson, and James Pledger, Jr.; daughters, Trudy Scoggins and Gwen Hatcher; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services for Mrs. Pledger will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 18, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Pledger officiating.  Interment will follow in the South Carolina Campground Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Brandon Pledger, Joseph Wilson, Randy Wilson, Lee Wilson, Dave Chambers, Danny Hatcher, David Wilson, and Barry Chambers.

Mrs. Pledger will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday.

Mrs. Ruby B. Tinney Adams, age 91, of Trion, passed away Sunday, July 06, 2014 at the Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

   Mrs. Adams was born in Jackson County, Alabama on January 1, 1923, daughter of the late Richard Emmett Coffey and Esther Alexander Coffey. She was a member of the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ and was a homemaker. Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her first husband, Dwight Martin Tinney, Sr.; second husband, Governor Samuel “Bo” Adams; grandson, James Adams; brothers, James Coffey and Rupert Coffey; sisters, Gladys White, Johnnie Burrow, Julia Mae Delaney and Mary Ruth Sisk; and a son-in-law, David Pedigo.

   Mrs. Adams is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Dwight and Mary TInney, Raymond and Shelia Adams and Raynard and DJ Adams; daughter, Gail Pedigo; grandchildren, Billy Adams, Krysta Adams, Brianna Adams, Kayla Godfrey, Jamie Crowder and Cindy Shurrock; great grandchildren, Brody Adams, Katie Taylor, Kerrie Taylor, Nikkie Crowder and Matthew Crowder and Patrick Shurrock; 3 great great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

   Funeral Services for Mrs. Adams will be held Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Minister Hugh Glaze officiating. Interment will follow in the Howell Cemetery.

   Pallbearers will be Dennis Murdock, Danny Murdock, Billy Adams, Azell Burrows, Michael Delaney and Michael Tinney. Honorary Pallbearers will be the staff of Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

   Mrs. Adams will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 9 P.M.

Mr. Michael McWilliams Obit (ER)

MR. MICHAEL McWILLIAMS, age 62, of Haywood Valley Road, Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014, at his residence following an illness.

He was born August 30, 1951, a son of the late William L. (Bob) McWilliams and Ruby Lee Scoggins McWilliams who survives. Mr. McWilliams attended the University of Georgia and Georgia State; was employed as a pharmacist with his Dad at Trion Drugs in the early 1970s. Later He worked at J & J Carpet in Dalton and Billy Graham Metals in Subligna area. He was very artistic, especially enjoyed doing Civil War figures, and participated in various Civil War reenactments. Michael was preceded in death by his brothers, the late Joey McWilliams and the late Tim McWilliams.

Surviving are His mother, Ruby McWilliams; sister-in-law, Martha McWilliams; and niece & fiancee, Christa Leeann McWilliams all of Haywood Valley and Chuck Campanelli of Teloga Community.

Graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 8th, at 11:00 A.M. in McWilliams Cemetery with Chaplain Rickey Studdard officiating; Pallbearers, Chuck Campanelli, Lowry Shaw, and Danny Reece.

Mr. Adams was born July 12, 1964 in LaFayette, GA, the son of
the late Lester F. Adams, JR. and Sandra Quinn Adams. Other  than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jody Adams.

Mr. Bob S. Scott Obit (ER)

MR. BOB S. SCOTT, age 76, of Dalton, Georgia, formerly of Cartersville, Summerville, and Rome, Georgia passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014, evening in a Dalton hospital. A native of Bartow County, Georgia, He was born on March 31, 1938 to the late Oscar Clifford and Iris Estell Ingram Scott. Mr. Scott was Baptist by Faith, served in the U.S. Army, and was retired accountant for Dalton Utilities. He was preceded in death by his wife, the late Jacquelin Marie Johnson Scott, to whom he married September 6, 1957; together they enjoyed writing choreography and teaching ballroom dancing since 1989.

Surviving are daughter-Vicki Marie Scott of Dalton; sons & daughter-in-law, Robert Van Scott and Michael & Amy Scott all of Rome; grandchildren-Johnathan Lee Scott, Christopher Michael Scott, and Rebecca Marie Scott.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 7th, at 11:00 A.M. from the Temple Baptist Church with Pastor Bret Yaeger officiating with eulogy by His daughter-in-law Amy Scott., interment in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, in Rome. Mr. Hill W. Bohannon Obit (ER)

 

MR. HILL W. BOHANNON, age 92, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, July 3, 2014, in a Rome hospital. A native Chattooga Countian, He was born to the late Samuel and Nellie Underwood Bohannon on May 23, 1922. He received a electrical engineer degree from Georgia Tech and later attending the University of Tennessee and was retired from the U. S. Weather Service. Mr. Bohannon was a combat Veteran of the United States Air Force, B17 Bomber pilot in WW II and Korea, and a prisoner of war during WW II. He was preceded in death by his wife, the late Madeline Davis Bohannon and a son the late Roger Bohannon.

Survivors include, son & daughter-in-law, Barry and Denise Bohannon; grandchildren, Rachel & Blake Payne all of Calhoun and Carrie Bohannon of Athens; great grandson, Bo Payne; several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 6th, at 4:00 P.M. from graveside in Summerville Cemetery, with Rev. Mark Kelly officiating, Active Pallbearers Gerald McCool, Herb Skelton, Terry Adams, Jon Payne, Leo Lanier, Randy Adnerson, Butch Eleam, and Jim Warnick; Military Honors by American Legion Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 of Rome. Mr. Price was born March 21, 1963, in Trion, GA, son of L. C. Price and the late Bertha Mae Johnson Price.  He was a self-employed auto detailer.  In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Sheldon Price, father-in-law, Omer Hickerson.

Mr. Harold Edwin Broyles, age 83, of Mentone, AL died Tuesday, July 1, 2014
at his residence.
 
Mr. Broyles was born June 24, 1931 in Chattanooga, TN, the son of the late
Hubert and Hattie Broyles.  He was a member of Berryton Baptist Church.  Mr.
Broyles was retired from Dupont.  He was a member of Valley Head Masonic Lodge
#394 F&AM and was an active member of the Alhambra Shrine.  He was a veteran
of the United States Army, with 22 years of service.  Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, James Broyles and Glenn Broyles.
 
Mr. Broyles is survived by a special friend, Joyce Brown; and a nephew, Steve
Barkley.
 
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. (EST) Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Mason
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mickey Skates officiating.  Interment will follow at
Summerville Cemetery, with graveside military honors.  Active pallbearers will
