Mrs. Rose Anne Woodall Obit (M)

Mrs. Rose Anne Woodall, 60, of Cumming, GA died Monday, April 8, 2013 at the Northside Hospital.

Mrs. Woodall was born December 7, 1952, the daughter of Mary Louise Brady Caldwell and the late Hill Caldwell. She was an accountant with Apac Corporation and attended the Abundant Life Church in Cumming, GA.

Survivors include her husband, Clarence Lamar Woodall, sons, Christopher Dennis Woodall, Errynn Hill Woodall and wife Jessica, mother, Mary Louise Brady Caldwell, brother, Michael Hill Caldwell, grandson, Christian Woodall, granddaughter, Islah Woodall

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Brandon Bishop, Michael Caldwell and Christopher Woodall officiating. Burial will follow in Lyerly Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Caldwell, Brent Caldwell, Kyle Caldwell, Bobby Sizemore, Robbie Allen, Randy Willmore, Nick Padgett, Michael Benson, Tom Rhinehart, Chad Cornar.

Mrs. Woodall will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00p.m. until 8:00 p. m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013.

Mr. John Q. Adams Obit (M)

Mr. John Q. Adams, age 79, of Summerville, GA, passed away Sunday April 7, 2013 at the Hutcheson Medical Center.

Mr. Adams was born January 7, 1934, in Holland, GA, the son of the late John Price Adams and Gertrude Mosteller Adams. Mr. Adams was a veteran of the United States Army, and was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills.

Survivors include, brothers, Wylie Adams, Fred Adams, sisters, Willie Mae Jordan, Sarah Stamper.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday April 10, 2013 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Loveless officiating with interment in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Mr. Adams will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 10a.m. until the service hour Wednesday April 10, 2013.

Mrs. Ona Langston Obit (M)

Mrs. Ona Louvina Langston, age 90, of Mentone, AL, passed away Saturday April 6, 2013 at the Oakview Nursing and Rehab Center. Mrs. Langston was born June 23, 1922, in Centre, AL, the daughter of the late James Samuel and Mary Hampton Goodridge. She was a homemaker and preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Langston, daughter, Leona Crow, grandson, Carey Langston, great-grandson, Jordan Langston, great-granddaughter, Haley Battles, brothers, Bill, Orban, and James Goodridge, a sister, Ruble Morgan.

Survivors include, son and daughter-in-law, Alfred and Eddie Langston, daughters and son-in-law, Linda and J.W. Mitchell, Betty Tipton, brother, Bobby Goodridge, sisters, Sue Tucker, Vera Alexander, 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. (EST) Tuesday April 9, 2013 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sanford Deberry officiating with interment in the AMI cemetery. Doris Peace Presley (FT)

Doris Peace Presley, age 88, of Burchfield Dr., Rome, died Friday morning, april 5, at a Rome Hospital.
 
Mrs. Presley was born in Chattooga County on November 26, 1924, daughter of the late James Otis Peace and the late Cecil Middleton Peace. She was a graduate of Trion High School and has been a resident of Rome and Floyd County since 1957, moving there from Chattooga County.  Mrs. Presley was associated with the Rome Glove Mill and Rome Manufacturing and was a homemaker. She was a member of the New Armuchee Baptist Church and the I>O>Y Club. She was married on April 18, 1942, to John William Presley and he preceded her in death in 1991. Mrs. Presley also was preceded in death by a son, Terry Presley in 2009; a grandson, Chris Presley in 2012; a daughtee-in-law Julie Presley in 2009; and a brother Harry Peace.
 
She is survived by a son, Dexter Presley of Rome; three grandchildren, Kim McAdams and husband, Max, of Rome; jeff Presley, Scottsville; and Jamie Presley, Dallas Texas; three great-grandchildren, Christine, Matthew, and Jacob; a great-great-grandson, Henry; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Presley, Dallas TX; a brother, Jimmy Peace and wife, Celia, of Trion; a sister-in-law, Shirley Peace, Trion; several nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral services are Monday at 1 p.m. at the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Miles officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hills Memorial Gardens in Summerville.
The body will lie in state at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Sunday from 6-8 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home of son, Dexter Presley, 117 Berry Forest Drive, Rome.
 
Pallbearers are to meet at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Monday and include Jeff Presley,Jamie Presley, Max McAdams, Matthew McAdams, Mike Hold and Biff Peace.

Mr. Vincent Edward Hughes Obit (M)

Vinson Edward Hughes, age 52, of Trion, GA, passed away Tuesday April 2, 2013 in Cherokee County Alabama.

Mr. Hughes was born Nov. 1, 1960, in Trion, GA, the son of Henry Allen Hughes and the late Bessie Ruth Earp Hughes.  Other than his mother he was preceded in death by grandparents, Otis and Bobbie Hughes, Fonnie and Lilly Earp.

Survivors include his father, Henry Allen Hughes, son, Zachery Hughes, daughter, Hannah Louise Hughes, grandchild, Naomi Hughes, sister, Renee Lanham, brothers, Wayne Hughes, Jeff Hughes, Raymond Hughes.

Gathering of family and friends will be held Monday April 8, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mason Funeral Home.

Mr. Billy Joe Martin Obit (ER)

MR. BILLY JOE MARTIN, SR. age 80, of Highway #48-Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, April6, 2013, in a Ft. Oglethorpe hospital. A native of Round Mountain, Alabama He was born to the late Fred and Cledie Timmerman Martin on July 1, 1932. Mr. Martin was a member of Alpine Community Church, Veteran of Korean Conflict, and retired CEO Technician with General Telephone Company in 1991 after 37 years of service. He was preceded in death by a son the late Jack Warren.

Surviving are His wife-Ann Abernathy Martin; daughter-Brenda Bearden of Summerville; son and spouse-Billy, Jr. and Cindy Martin of Summerville; granddaughters-Chris Ann and Eric Davenport and Amy Martin; grandsons-Todd and Jamie Bearden and Zack Bearden; great grandsons-Jarred Bearden, Raidyn Davenport, and Reece Davenport; brothers and spouses-Winston and Lavern Martin of Eatonton, Wallace and Ellen Martin of Menlo, Charlie Frank and Kaye Martin of Lawton, Oklahoma, Greg and Debbie Martin of Cloudland; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral service will be held Sunday, April 7th, at 4:00 P.M. from Graveside in Summerville Cemetery with Pastor Tommy Pledger officiating. Mrs. Debbie Laney Smith Obit., (ER)

MRS. DEBBIE LANEY SMITH, age 60, of Tunnel Hill, Georgia formerly of Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013, evening at her residence following an illness.  Born in Augusta, Georgia on July 9, 1952; She was a daughter of the late Morgan Gilbert and Lola Mae Cleveland Laney.  Mrs. Smith was formerly a CNA for Ridgewood Manor Nursing Home and was Baptist by Faith. She was preceded in death by brothers-Albert Laney, Gathan “Gator” Laney, and Morgan Laney.

            Surviving are husband-David James Smith; daughters-Diana Gaston of Tunnel Hill, Jennifer Smith of Chatsworth, and Amanda Smith of Tunnel Hill; sons-Gilbert Sims of Tunnel Hill and Randal Battles, Jr. of Trion; sister-Vera Mae Laney of Trion; brother-Cecil Laney of Summerville; eleven Grandchildren, one Great Grandson, several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

            Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 7th, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Howell officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery.  The Family will receive friends Saturday from 4 until 6 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

Mrs Clarice Winnie Caldwell Harris Obit (M)

Mrs. Clarice Winnie Caldwell Harris, 83, of Trion, GA died Monday, April 1, 2013.

 

Mrs. Harris was born September 23, 1929 in Hahira, GA, the daughter of the late Dan and Elsie Bennett.  She was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills and she attended the Church of God.  Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W. H. Caldwell; son, Larry Caldwell; granddaughter, Joanne Hope Brown; grandsons, Joe Clark and William “Shorty” Caldwell; great grandson, Jerimah Robinson; sister, Loren Giddens; and a brother, D A Bennett.

 

Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Lynn and Wayne Cagle, Annette

Nicholson; sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Ann Caldwell, Billy and

Faye Caldwell; 17 Grandchildren; 30 Great Grandchildren; and 3 Great Great

Grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Mason

Funeral Home with burial to follow in Summerville Cemetery.  Pallbearers will

be grandsons, Alex Brown, Casey Robinson, William Caldwell, Brian Robinson,

Kenny King, and Timmy Caldwell.

Mrs. Alma Sue Vanpelt Baty Obit (M)

Mrs. Alma Sue VanPelt Baty, age 86, of Summerville, GA died Monday, April 1, 2013 at her residence.

Mrs. Baty was born December 14, 1926 in Centre, AL, the daughter of the late Elisha Jackson King and Cordelia Belle Sharp King. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Baty was a member of Pennville Alliance Church. She enjoyed karaoke, activities with friends at the Senior Center, and spending time with family. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Raymond VanPelt, Frank Baty, and Clarence Cushen; 15 Brothers and Sisters; 2 Children; 1 Grandson; and 3 Great-Grandchildren.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Ginger VanPelt; daughters and son-in-law, Becky and Randy Dalrymple, SR and Vicky Selman VanPelt: 9 Grandchildren; 13 Great Grandchildren; and 1 Great Great Grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p. m. Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at MasonFuneral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Dempsey officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens. Mr. James R. “Jimmy” Teems, Jr Obit (M)

Mr. James Ralph "Jimmy" Teems, JR, age 63, of Trion, GA died Monday, April 01, 2013 at his residence.

 

Mr. Teems was born December 11, 1949 in Trion, GA, the son of the late James Ralph

Teems, SR and Mary Bernice Garmany Teems.  He was retired from Mohawk Industries.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Diane Bennett.

 

Mr. Teems is survived by his wife, Mildred Ann Teems; daughters and son-in-law, Ginger

Teems Norton and Grant Norton, Missy Teems Duncan and Chris Duncan, Tiffany Teems

Rose and Brian Rose; adopted daughter and son-in-law, Edith and Tony Samples; sisters

and husbands, Barbara and Jack McCrickard, Wanda and Jerry Allen; special brother and

sister-in-law, William “Billy” Blackmon and Barbara Blackmon; brother-in-law, Charles

Bennett; 8 Grandchildren; and 7 Great Grandchildren.
