Mr. Carl D. Sanford Obit (ER)

MR. CARL D. SANFORD, age 71, of Holland-Chattoogaville Road, Lyerly, Georgia passed away Friday (October 5, 2012). A native of Round Mountain, Alabama, He was born to the late Cicero and Rena Ward Sanford on December 17, 1940. Mr. Sanford graduated Mississippi State University on a football scholarship and began a forty year manufacturing Executive career in Summerville, Georgia with Georgia Rug Mill, later Bigelow-Sanford Rug Mill; then to Canada, then with BASF/Honeywell in Dalton. Afterward retiring to the 750 acre Family farm on Holland-Chattoogaville Road.

Surviving are His wife-Tippy Sanford; sons-Colter Sanford of Chattoogaville and Tyler of Summerville; grandchildren-Carlie Sanford, Colton Sanford, Ayla Sanford, and Cason Sanford; sister-Dixie Messer of Cedar Bluff, AL; brothers-Sam Sanford of Cedar Bluff, AL and D.C. Sanford of Jamestown, Al; several Nieces and Nephews.

Entombment service will be held Sunday, April 21st, at 2:30 P.M. on the Family Farm in Holland Community.

Ms. Jean Kay Obit.,(ER)

MS. JEAN KAY, age 73, of Cherry Street-Trion, Georgia, passed away 
Thursday, April 18, 2013, morning in a Rome hospital.  A native 
Chattooga Countian, She was born to the late Albert and Everene 
Henderson Croy on February 28, 1940.  Ms. Kay was Baptist by Faith, 
retired from Mohawk Industries, and was preceded in death by a sister 
and brother.

Surviving are daughter-Kim Kay Palmour of Summerville; sons-James
Bradley Kay of Trion and Kenneth Lee Kay of Ringgold; grandchildren-Keith 
Morison, Preston Morrison, Jeremy Guinn, Cameron Kay, Darian Kay, Donavan 
Kay, Amanda Kay, Carmen Palmour, Alexandra Palmour, and Marianna Palmour; 
great grandchildren-Stella Morrison, Ashby Morrison, Jared Guinn, Jordon Guinn, 
and Danielle Guinn; several Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins also survive.

Graveside, Family Only, service will be held Saturday, April 20th, in Union Hill
Cemetery.

Mrs. Evalene Trammell Obit (M)

Mrs. Evalene Trammell, age 52, of Lyerly, GA died Saturday, April 13, 2013

at her residence.

 

Mrs. Trammell was born March 27, 1961, the daughter of the late

Willie and Ailene Trammell.  She was a homemaker.

 

Mrs. Trammell is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan

and Charlee Howell; brothers, Joe Trammell, Ernest Trammell, and Ray

Trammell; 3 Grandchildren; and 2 Step-Grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Thursday, April 18, 2013 at

Mason Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Christopher Knowles, Timothy Knowles, Shane

McGuire, Sammy Trammell, Jamie Howell, and Lee.  Honorary pallbearers

will be all Personal Friends.

Marguerite Partain Strickland Morgan obit Partick Jennings FH

Marguerite Partain Strickland Morgan, age 91, of Rome passed away Monday April 15, 2013 in a Rome Health Care Facility.

Mrs. Morgan was born January 21, 1922, in Walker County a daughter of the late George Partain and Allie Bryant Partain. She was a member of Shorter Avenue Baptist Church, and a retired LPN working at Floyd Medical Center and Tri County Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband Bernard Strickland, brothers, Ivan  Partain, Emory Partain, Dennis Partain, and sisters, Vinnie Wilson, Glenna Wilson, and Ruth Duncan.

Survivors include  daughter, Diane Cash, and her husband, Fruithurst, Al; son, Danny Strickland, and his wife, Linda, Trion; grandchildren, Mike Clem, Tonya McBrayer, Terri Lumpkin, great grandchildren, Ashlee Atkins, Madison Jennings, Allee McBrayer, Addison Lumpkin.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday April 17, 2013 at Parnick Jennings, Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Minister Robby Eversole, officiating. Graveside services will be at 4:00 P.M. Wednesday at Summerville City Cemetery, in Summerville. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of service on Wednesday.

Mrs. Doris Arrie Lou Chandler Hall, age 84, of Menlo, GA died Saturday, April
13, 2013 at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation. 
 
Mrs. Hall was born April 29, 1928 in Chelsea, GA, daughter of the late John
Franklin Chandler and Ida Huie Willingham Chandler.  She was retired from
Best Manufacturing and was a member of the Best Silver Club.  Mrs. Hall was also a member of Faith Baptist Church in Menlo.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Hill Hall, and sisters, Linda Chandler and Patsy Chandler Baker.
 
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, David and Teresia Hall; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Sam Ballard; 4 grandchildren, Kelly Hall, Scott Ballard, Chris Barnes, and Kathy Cooper; 8 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 16, 2013 from the Chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Wilborn and Rev. Doyle Waters officiating.  Burial will follow in the Alpine Cemetery with Rev. Mrs. Vera Earlene Lively Obit (EP)

Mrs. Vera Earlene Lively, age 75 of Evans, GA passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2013 in Dwight D. Eisenhower Medical Center, Fort Gordon, GA.  Mrs. Lively was born September 28, 1937 in Trion, GA.  She was Methodist by faith, a housewife, and an Auxiliary Deputy in Columbia County, GA. 

Mrs. Lively was preceded in death by her father and mother, AbeTarpely Cheek and Sarah E. Elllington Cheek Sprayberry; step-father, Milton Sprayberry.

Mrs. Lively is survived by husband, Dempsey McCoy Lively of Evans, GA; sister, Sue Cheek of Oakwood, GA; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Nancy) Lively of Bradenton, FL; step-brother, James C. (Nelda) Sprayberry of Rossville, GA; step-sister, Lucy (Ronnie) Cain of Rock Spring, GA; nephews, Paul Sprayberry and family of San Antonia, TX, Mark Cain and family of LaFalotte, TN; nieces, Jill (David) Scarlet of Huntsville, AL and Sherri Edwards of Chattanooga, TN; several cousins. 

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 15, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Johnson officiating.  Interment will follow in Little Sand Mountain Cemetery.

Mrs. Mary Story Reece, age 81, of Lyerly, GA died Friday, April 12, 2013 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Reece was born May 11, 1931 in Teloga, GA, the daughter of the late Leon Story and Grace Hill Story. She was a formerly employed at the Lyerly Drug Store and she was a member of Cedar Chapel. Other than her parents, Mrs. Reece was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Earl Reece; sister, Betty Edwards; brothers, Tom Story and Jim Story.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, David Wayne and Martha Reece; daughter and son-in-law, Doris Jean and Steve Austin; 5 Grandchildren; and 8 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Monday, April 15, 2013 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Lyerly Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Eric Burrage, Christopher Ledbetter, Joshua Ledbetter, Wayne Reece, Eric Wallin, and Will Short.

Mr. Clifford Leon Gardner Obit., (M)

Mr. Clifford Leon Gardner, age 79, of Lyerly, GA died Monday April 10, 2013

at Floyd Medical Center.

 

Mr. Gardner was born February 22, 1934 in Jamestown, AL, the son of the

late William Arthur Gardner and Lena Mae Ray Gardner.  He was owner of

G & G Trucking.  Mr. Gardner was a member of the Church of Christ.  He was

veteran of the United States Army, having served in the 101th Airborne.  Other

than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Gardner.

 

Survivors include his wife, Effie Gardner; son, Clifford L. Gardner, JR;

daughters and son-in-law, Angie and Billy Stallings, and Helen Teague;

brother and sister-in-law, Wilburn and Mary Nell Gardner; sisters, Nell Spear,

Joyce Barnes, and Peggy Clark; 7 Grandchildren; and 16 Great Grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Mason

Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dewayne Teague officiating.  Entombment

will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens.  Active pallbearers will be William

Gardner, Ken Teague, Michael Teague, Lance Stallings, Isiah Holder, and

Mrs. Carrie Joy Palmer Obit (M)

Mrs. Carrie Joy Palmer, age 84, of Trion, GA died Wednesday, April 10, 2013

at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

 

Mrs. Palmer was born July 18, 1928 in Catlett, GA, the daughter of the late

James Emory Cameron and Lora Belle Giles Cameron.  She was retired

from the Chattooga County Hospital.  Mrs. Palmer was a member of Trion

First Baptist Church.  Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by

her husband, Howell F. Palmer; and a daughter, Lisa Joye Palmer.

 

Survivors include her granddaughter’s and husbands, Shannon and Jeremy

Colbert, and Erin and Aaron McKenzie; and a sister-in-law; Charlotte Evans.

 

Graveside and interment services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Friday, April

12, 2013 at West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Andy Hutchins officiating.

Mr. Timothy Wayne Hellard, age 53, of Menlo, GA died Monday, April 8, 2013

at his residence.  Mr.  Hellard was born October 22, 1955 in Lexington, KY, the son of the late James Wesche and Jean Chapman Wesche.  He was a carpenter.  Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Hellard.
