Mr. Gene Ledbetter, age 83 of Gaylesville, passed away Monday, September 17th at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday, September 19th at Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Cosby officiating; burial will follow in Weiss Lake Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Tuesday.

Pallbearers include Trey Skelton, Tyler Lawson, Kevin Walker, Charles Crumbley, Roger Haggard and Tom Harton.

Survivors include his wife, Katie M. Thomas Ledbetter; daughters, Jill (Terry) Lawson of Gaylesville and Cindy (Herb) Skelton of Trion, GA; brother, Joe Ledbetter of Rome, GA; sisters, Evelyn Hughes and Ethel Pledger, both of Summerville, GA; grandchildren, Tera (Kevin) Walker, Trey (Ashleigh) Skelton and Tyler (Kathryn) Lawson; great grandchildren, Katie Rose, Eli and Nolan Walker, Joshua Lawson; several nieces & nephews. Memorials may be made to the Cedar Bluff First Baptist Church Building Fund.

Mr. Ledbetter was a native of Dekalb County, the son of the late James David and Myrtle Mariah Rose Ledbetter and was a member of Cedar Bluff First Baptist Church. He was a retired building contractor and was owner of Weiss Lake Memorial Garden.

Mr. Leonard Avery – of Summerville, Georgia passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2012.  He was retired from Mount Vernon Mills and was a member of West Fifth Street Church of Christ.  Survivors and funeral arrangements will be announced later by Willis Funderal Home, Inc., Dalton, Georgia.

Mr. David Howard Williams, age 58, of Gaylesville, AL died Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Floyd Medical Center.

Mr. Williams was born May 10, 1954 in Summerville, GA, the son of Lelia Joyce Rickett Williams and the late Tommy Anderson Williams. He was formerly employed with Mohawk. Other than his father, Mr. Williams was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Joe Williams.

Survivors include his mother, Lelia Williams, Summerville, GA; step-children, T. C. Miller and Misty Weaver; sisters, Joyce Smith, Summerville, GA and Janice Thompson, Trion, GA; niece, Anna Morrison; nephews, Nick Smith, Dustin Thompson, and Nathan Thompson.

Graveside and interment services will be held at 4:00 p. m. Tuesday, September, 18, 2012 at Summerville Cemetery. Rev. Chris Holman will officiate. Active pallbearers will be Mike Short, Will Short, Eric Reynolds, Charlie Crabtree, T. C. Miller, Matt Veitch, Nick Smith, and Kevin Vaughn. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews and all personal friends.

Mr. Williams will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Monday, September 17, 2012.

Mrs. Cassie Mae Brady McNair, age 85, of Summerville, passed away Friday, September 14, 2012 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. McNair was born in Summerville, Georgia on September 21, 1926, daughter of the late Joseph Hickey and Parthenia Simmons Hickey. She was a member of the Pennville Church of Christ and prior to retirement, was employed in the Sampling Department of Bigelow-Sanford. Mrs. McNair was preceded in death by her first husband, John Terrell Brady; 2nd husband, Ted McNair; grandson, Wayne Brady; sisters, Frances Gilbreath and Mary Jean Hickey; and a brother, Jack Hickey.

Mrs. McNair is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Levon and Linda Brady of Summerville, Edward and Rhneda Brady of Trion, Terrell and Betty Brady of Summerville, and Phillip and Debbie Brady of Crestview, FL; daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda Brady Bowling and Dwight Bowling of Summerville, and Judy Brady Flowers and Tom Flowers of Vinton, VA; Brother, William “B” Hickey of Louisville, KY; 16 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. McNair will be held Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Minister Robbie Eversole officiating. Interment will follow in the Lyerly Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ashton Brady, Jordan Brady, Jim Brady, Andy Rowe, Jason Maples and Brandon Cochran. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Adult Sunday School Class of the Pennville Church of Christ.

Mrs. Syble Lucille Hollingsworth Ward, age 79 of Trion, Georgia, passed away Friday, September 14, 2012 at Heritage Healthcare in Lafayette, GA.

Mrs. Ward was born in Chattooga County, Georgia on March 10, 1933, daughter of the late Clyde Hollingsworth and Gussie Francis Woody Hollingsworth. She was of the Baptist Faith and prior to retirement, was employed with Sears and Roebuck. Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by sisters, Etta Mae Williams, Irene Moseley, Betty Brown and Gertrude Brown; and 2 brothers, Johnny Hollingsworth and Bobby Hollingsworth.

Mrs. Ward is survived by her husband, Clarence Ward; daughter and son-in-law, Frances Diane and Randy Blackmon; brothers, GW “Dub” Hollingsworth and Billy Hollingsworth; sisters, Polly Ragan and Ann Hampton; 2 grandchildren, Adam Jenkins and Lynn Pickle; 2 great grandchildren, Cody Mathis and Haley Pickle; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorial Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in the West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Leon Woody officiating. Those desiring to attend the services are asked to meet at West Hill Cemetery on Tuesday at 1:45 P.M.

  Mrs. Bobbie Lee Hughes, age 96 of Orlando, FL formerly of Summerville, GA passed away Monday, September 10, 2012 at the residence in Orlando, FL.  Mrs. Hughes was born in Collinsville, AL on June 22, 1916.  Mrs. Hughes was a housewife and a member of the Mountain View Baptist Church.
  
   Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Vinson Hughes; brothers, Bill Traffenstept and Port Traffenstept; sisters, Esther Thomas, Bett Peek, and Lois Thomas; and niece, Gladys Jackson.

Mr. Jerry Dean Galloway, age 81, of Menlo, GA died Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Oakview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Galloway was born January 19, 1931 in Etowah County, AL., the son of the late Lonnie Erwin Galloway and Lena Mae Deering Galloway. He was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills. Mr. Galloway was a member of the Quarter Century Club and the Cloudland Volunteer Fire Department. He loved to garden and he was an avid fisherman.

Survivors include his wife, Burma Galloway; sons and daughter-in-law, Aubrey and Wanda Galloway, daughter, Rita Galloway; brother and sister-in-law, Max and Annette Galloway; sisters and brother-in-law, Roberta and Max Cash, Patricia Chumley, and Janice Galloway; 4 Grandchildren; and 8 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Friday, September 14, 2012 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Cloudland Presbyterian Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Brandon Galloway, Daniel Hunter, Douglas Combs, Jeremy Mathis, Gene Sewell, David Maples, Kenneth McDaniel, Jason Smith, and Phillip Cash. MR. WILLIAM BRADLEY CARROLL, age 47, of Millen, Georgia formerly of Chattooga County, Georgia, passed away Sunday (September 9, 2012). Mr. Carroll was born to the late Larry Franklin Carroll and Sandra Padgett Carroll Howard who survives. He was a contractorand was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Rev. A.B. and Mrs Dalton Bowling Carroll, maternal grandparents Mr. & Mrs. William Padgett, a sister Mandy Carroll and brother Bruce Carroll… Surviving are sons-Jason Carroll and Brent Carroll of Cumming, GA. & Bentley Carroll; mother & step father-Sandra Padgett Howard and Bobby F. Howard of Hubert, N.C.; brother-David of Millen, GA; half sister-Elena Carroll of LaFayette; half brother-Berry Carroll of Chattanooga; three Grandchildren; several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, and Nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 16th, at 3 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor Andy Hutchens officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Mr. Charles Porter Durham, age 91, of Trion, GA. died Friday, September 7, 2012 at his residence.

Mr. Durham was born October 1, 1920 in Chattooga County, GA, to Claude and Maggie Durham. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Day Durham; a son, Charles Mack Durham; brothers, William Hershel Durham and Billy Durham and sister, Margaret Houston.

In 1942, Porter, with 9 charter members founded, organized, and built New Bethel Baptist Church.  Porter has served in nearly every office in the Church. He was one of the first deacons.  He taught Sunday School for 50 years.  He has been Choir Director for most of the history of the church and he was the last surviving charter member.  Porter was founder of the Old Wilmyre School, where he was the first trustee.  Porter was a Riegel Textile employee for 47 years.  He served as a shift foreman and he was assistant maintenance at retirement.  He was one of the second group winners of Zero Defects and he was a Quarter Century Member. In1944 he was inducted in the United States Navy, where he served aboard a destroyer, the USS Farguar DE 139 in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. During his service on board ship he served as Chaplin and he held Devine services in the mess hall each Sunday.

Mr. Durham is survived by his wife, Virginia Parker Durham; sons and daughter-in-law, Dennis Durham, of Trion, GA and Don and Pam Durham, of Summerville, GA; stepsons and wife, Larry and Joyce Parker, Rock Spring, GA, and Billy Parker, Trion, GA; 12 Grandchildren; 13 Great Grandchildren; and a host of Nieces, Nephews and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 10, 2012 at the New Bethel Baptist Church, Trion, GA., with Rev. Robert Patterson and Rev. Jason Cowart officiating. Burial will follow in the West Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ralph Southerland, Merdie Reeves, David Peace, Horace Payton, W.J. Keith, Adam Payton, David Parker and Cory Parker. Honorary Pallbearers will be all members of New Bethel Baptist Church.

Mr. Durham will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 p. m. Sunday, September 9, 2012. Mr. Durham will also lie in state at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service on Monday.

William Calvin Davenport, age 86, of 415 Thomas Road, Trion, Ga. passed away Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Oakview Nursing Home. He was born June 11, 1926 son of the late William Jervis & Sara Elizabeth Davenport. He was retired from Mt. Vernon Reigel Textile with 46 years of service, member of the Quarter Century Club and was a member of Lafayette Church of God. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Shelia Collette and a number of brothers and sisters.

Calvin was one of the most loving, kindest gentlemen that ever lived and also he loved the Lord with all of his heart.

Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Ann Russell Daveenport, Summerville; daughter & son-in-law: Trina & Jack Harvey, Flintstone, Ga.; grandson, Jody Collette, Trion; granddaughter, Kirby Miles, Flintstone; several nieces & nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, September 10, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Howell officiating and Rev. Jeremy Singletary giving the Eulogy. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers include the following gentlemen and are requested to meet at the Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Gene, Johnny & Randy Barrett, Jody Collette, Vester & Floyd Davenport. Honorary pallbearers are members of the "F" Hall Staff of Oakview Nursing Home and members of the Lafayette Church of God.

Mr. Davenport will lie-in-state on Monday, September 10, 2012 at Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m.
