Mr. John Thornton Stubbs, Jr.

MR. JOHN THORNTON STUBBS, JR., age 92, of Highway #337-Summerville, Georgia –Teloga Community, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2011, morning at his residence. Born in Americus, Georgia on September 1, 1918 He was the son of the late John Thornton Stubbs, Sr. and Ann McWhorter Stubbs. Mr. Stubbs was a member of Beersheba Presbyterian Church, a Veteran of WW II serving in the U.S. Army, and worked for the U.S. Postal Service for forty one years serving as Summerville Post Master for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife the late Jean Thomas Stubbs.

Surviving are daughter-Ann Stubbs Maddux of Summerville; sons-James Thomas Stubbs of Woodstock and Joh Thornton Stubbs, III of Summerville; grand-John Thomas Maddux of Summerville.

Mr. Rod Hardeman

MR. ROD HARDEMAN, age 88, of Allen Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, January 9, 2011, at his residence. A native of Fort Payne, Alabama He was born to the late Homer Harley, Sr. and Edna Rosa Beaty Hardeman on November 27, 1922. Mr. Hardeman was a member of Summerville First Baptist Church, Veteran of WW II serving in the U.S. Navy, and was retired Sales Representative for Chemical Processing of Georgia. He was preceded in death by a son-the late Rodney Hardeman, sister-the late Flora Mae Whisenant, and brothers-the late J. B. Hardeman, the late ED Hardeman, and the late Winfred Hardeman.

Surviving are His wife-Frances Thomas Hardeman; son-Gary R. Hardeman of Summerville; three Grandchildren, two Great Grandchildren; brothers-Homer Hardeman, Jr. of Douglasville. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Hattie Kellett obit

MRS. HATTIE KELLETT, age 92, of Rainbow City, Alabama, formerly of Trion, Georgia passed away Saturday, January 8, 2011, morning in Austell Georgia. A native of Trion, She was born to the late William C. and Edith Grasham Carnes on April 18, 1918. Mrs. Kellett was a member of Pleasant Grove Church of Christ, was retired from Bonnell Aluminum and Duff Flowers. She was preceded in death by her husband the late Ernest Kellett in 1991.

Surviving are son-William C. Kellett of Rainbow City, AL.; grandsons-Keith Kellett and Kevin Kellett of Kennesaw; great grandchildren-Kimberly Arrowood, Mark Kellett, Mitchell Kellett, and Ryan Kellett; great great grandchildren-Anna Grace Arrowood and Sophie Marie Arrowood; several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services were held Sunday, January 9th, at 3:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Minister Hugh Glaze officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery. Active Pallbearers Mark Kellett, Mitchell Kellett, Jason Arrowood, Charles Logan, Dan Logan, and Carter Logan.

Harvey Meeler Obit

Mr. Harvey Ray Meeler, Sr. age 70, of Summerville, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2011 in Forsyth, Georgia.

Mr. Meeler was born in Crummies Creek, Kentucky on June 22, 1940, son of the late Charles Felton Meeler and Mattie Ruth Owens Meeler. He was self employed as a painter, and was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Maxine Elrod Meeler; a daughter, Robin Meeler; siblings, Horace Meeler, LaVonne Meeler, Sybil Cox, Jewel Genery and Irene Hodges.

Mr. Meeler is survived by sons, Ray Meeler, Jr and his wife, Becky of Clewiston, Florida and Bill Sabo and his wife, Janice of Summerville; brother, Roy Meeler of Summerville; sisters, Evelyn Driver, Dean Hodge, Pet Shackelford, Fay Martin, Lavonne Young, and Bonnie Caudill; grandchildren, Amanda Pacheco, Rachel Meeler and Ciji Sabo; great grandchildren, Thomas Pacheco, Andre Pacheco and Bryson Billie; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Meeler will be held Sunday, January 9, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Benny Berry officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour.

Cammie Reece obit

Mrs. Cammie “Bam” Eugina Reece, age 88, of Lyerly, GA, died Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Reece was born February 28, 1922 in Berryton, GA, daughter of the late Elisha and Josie Youngblood. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Reece is survived by her husband, Frank Reece; son, Cody Cromer, nephew, Butch Gardener, great niece, Sissy Morris; great nephews, Billy Morris and Michael Morris; great-great niece, Elizabeth Suits; and a cousin, Marvin Garner.

Funeral services for Mrs. Reece will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 9, 2010 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marshall Bryan officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Billy Morris, Jason Morris, Charlie Koonce, Butch Gardener, Marvin Garner, and Conley Martin.

Mrs. Reece will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of service on Sunday.

William Gates obit

Mr. William Edgar Gates, age 94, of Menlo, GA, passed away Friday, January 7, 2011 at his residence.

Mr. Gates was born October 26, 1916 in Lincoln, NE, son of the late William Edgar Sr. and Fannie Noyes Gates. He graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1938. Mr Gates was the owner and operator of Gamble’s Store in Wilburn, NE, and was an agent for Prudential Insurance and Capp Homes. He was also a former firefighter for Burlington. Mr. Gates was a member of Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church, and was a past master of the Wilbur Masonic Lodge, F & A M. Other than his parents, Mr. Gates was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Larraine Gibson Gates, and a sister, Lois Lewis.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Tom Stewart, Menlo, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Stephan and Joyce Gates, Lincoln, NE, David and Kathy Gates, Lincoln, NE, George and Sue Gates, Gladstone, MO; a brother, John Robert Gates, New Jersey; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Gates will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church in Lincoln, NE with Pastor Stephan Raddatz officiating. Interment will follow in the Wyuka Cemetery.

Mr. Gates will be in state at Roper and Sons Funeral Home (4300 "O" Street, Lincoln, NE) and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. Monday evening, as well as at Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Tuesday.
