Mrs. Edna Maxine Stager Obit

Mrs. Edna Maxine Stager, age 86, of Summerville, GA, passed away Thursday January 6, 2011, in Cherokee County Health & Rehab Center. Mrs. Stager was born May 4, 1924, in Rockrun, AL, the Daughter of the late Fred William and Susie Wood Trotter. She was retired from Best Manufacturing and a member of the Trion First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Rev. Leon Stager; son and daughter-in-law, Sid and Liz Stager; daughter and son-in-law, Genela and Mike Hutchins; grandchildren, Connie (Claye) Barwick, Steve (Jaime) Stager, and Krista (Mike) Kenner; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Kenner and Carter Kenner.

Funeral services for Mrs. Stager will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 8, 2011 in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Floyd Roebuck officiating. Private entombment will follow in Oaknoll Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Stager will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the hour of service on Saturday.

Mr. Marvin Lawrence Obit

Mr. Marvin Lawrence, age 64, of Summerville, GA passed away Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. Mr. Lawrence was born February 17, 1946, son of the late Carey B. and Frances Elizabeth Jackson Lawrence. He was employed as a dye operator at Salem Carpet Mills and was of the Methodist Faith. Mr. Lawrence was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed yard work, watching wrestling on TV, and going fishing. Mr. Lawrence was preceded in death by a son, Marvin Gaye Fleetwood; a daughter, Erica Lawrence; a sister, Mary Tubbs; and brothers, Bert, C.B., Andrew, Wayne, and Jimmy Lawrence.

Mr. Lawrence is survived by his wife, Leola Fleetwood Lawrence; sons, Jimmy Fleetwood, Ricky Lawrence, and Eric Lawrence; daughter, Denise Lawrence; brothers, Lee Lawrence, Freeman Lawrence, and Joe Henry Lawrence; sisters, Rosey Adams, Pearl Neal, Marlene Waters, and Ruth Adams; sisters-in-law, Sarene Porter, Mary Marsh, Bertha Fleetwood, Cleming Teem Lawrence, Mary Lawrence, Bobby Ann Lawrence, and Faye Lawrence; brothers-in-law, Jerry Marsh and William Fleetwood; 19 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Lawrence will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2011 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Clark officiating. Interment will follow in M.C. Williams Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Fred Fields, Eddie Farmer, Lamar Fleetwood, George Fleetwood, and Undre Fleetwood. Mrs. Regina C. Smith Obit

Mrs. Regina Colleen Smith, age 61, of Menlo, GA died Monday, January 3, 2011 at her residence.

Mrs. Smith was born June 12, 1949 in Trion, GA, the daughter of the late Guy and Elizabeth Strickland Hix. She had worked as a bookkeeper. Mrs. Smith was a member of Chesterfield Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald Smith; son, William Randall Smith (Cassie Jade Bolden); daughter, Chelsea Elizabeth Smith (David Simps0n).

Funeral services wil be held at 1:00 p. m. Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike McAbee and Rev. Scott Hobbs officiating. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wess Collette, Tommy Neal, Greg Barrett, and Timmy Wooten.

Mr. Michael K. Maxey Obit

MR. MICHAEL K. MAXEY, age 47, of Brandonburg, Kentucky passed away Sunday, January 3, 2011, evening at his residence following an illness. A native of Floyd County, Georgia He was born on May 26, 1963 to the late Dewey Maxey, Jr. and Shirley Holt Maxey who survives. Mr. Maxey was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Radcliff, Ky. And retired from Hardin Delivery.

Surviving are His wife-Tori Hebard Maxey; Mother-Shirley Maxey of Rome; daughter-Bethany Mooneyhan of Rome; son-James Maxey of Florida; grandson-Kevin Maxey; sister-Dawn Montgomery; brorther Alan Maxey both of Rome; several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 5th, at 2:00 P.M. from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Paige Hardin, Rev. Jimmy Bryant, and Rev. Greg Montgomery officiating, interment in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Virginia Nell Trinka, age 81, of Summerville, GA, passed away Saturday January 1, 2011, at Sacred Journey, in Mcdonough, GA.

Mrs. Trinka was born August 11, 1929, in Summerville, Georgia, the daughter of the late James and Thelma Cooper Lemming.

Survivors include her Daughters, Martha Bettis Lemaster, Merle Bettis Thompson, 4 Grandchildren, Tammy Green, Jeffrey Lemaster, Tim McMullan, John McMullan, 3 Great-grandchildren, Joseph Green, Caleb Green, Carrington Green.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Wednesday January 5, 2011, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Russell officiating. Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery.

Mr. Darrell Wayne Pettyjohn Obit

Mr. Darrell Wayne Pettyjohn, age 49, of Summerville, GA, passed away Saturday January 1, 2011 from injuries received in an automobile accident. Mr. Pettyjohn was born January 27, 1961, in Tampa, FL, the son of the late Claude William and Frances Lavone Hornsby Pettyjohn, Jr. Mr. Pettyjohn was employed with Patty Construction Company, and preceded in death by a Brother, Danny Lee Pettyjohn.

Survivors include his Sisters, Donna Pettyjohn, Debra Bailey, and Terri Tidmore.

Mrs. Elizabeth Barker Adams Obit

Mrs. Elizabeth Barker Adams, age 95, of Summerville, GA died Friday, December 31, 2010 at her residence after an illness of 2 months.

Mrs. Adams was born May 12, 1915 in Brownsboro, Alabama, the daughter of the late Lawrence Ray Barker and Mamie Hethcoat Barker. She was raised and lived in Hixson, TN before moving to Rome in 1953. Mrs. Adams was the owner of Pine Crest Motel and Restaurant. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Johnny B. Adams in January, 2003; and by a daughter, Mary Alice Adams Cash Davis, on November, 2006; and sisters, Dorothy Bryson, Louise Cooper and O’Dell Burke.

Survivors include daughters, Joyce Adams Davis & Rebecca & husband, Hudon Miller; sister, Eileen Barker Bonds and husband, Russell Bonds; grandchildren, Tina Cash Copeland, Donna Cash Norwood, Sherri Cash McGlocklin, Ricky Davis, Mark Miller and Julie Miller Stewart ; great grandchildren, Beth McCabe, Paige Norwood, Christina Pollycastro, Jonathan McGlocklin, Taylor Copeland, Justin Davis, Jamey Davis, Will Miller, and Wyatt Miller; great great grandchild, Landon Harding.

Mr. Earl Hendrix Tinney Obit

Mr. Earl Hendrix Tinney, age 83, of Trion, Georgia passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at his residence.

Mr. Tinney was born in DeKalb County, Alabama on October 20, 1927, son of the late Walter Howard Tinney and Mary Ann Hendrix Tinney. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member and Elder of the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Tinney was employed with Mt. Vernon Mills and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Mr. Tinney was preceded in death by brothers, John Howard Tinney, Dwight Martin Tinney, Raymond Hoyt Tinney, James Patrick Tinney, sister, Minnie Sue Tinney Murdock; niece, Patsy Tinney Henderson, and a nephew, Vernon Bud Tinney.

Mr. Tinney is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruby Jewel Malone Tinney, Trion; Daughter and Son-in-law, Carol Elaine Tinney Lowry and Charles D. Lowry, New Albany, Indiana; granddaughter, Whitnie Elizabeth and Jason Alan Payton, Charlestown, Indiana; Great grandchild, Cooper Alan Payton; sisters-in-law, Melba Butler Tinney, Ruby Adams, Mary Teal, Alline Lockridge and Martha Malone; brothers-in-law, James Malone and Charles Malone; 13 Nieces and 14 Nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Tinney will be held Friday, December 31, 2010 at 4:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Minister Hugh Glaze officiating. Interment will follow in the Howell Cemetery.

Mr. Steven Gregory Lively Obit

Mr. Steven Gregory Lively, age 56, of Summerville, GA died Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Lively was born November 13, 1954 in LaFayette, GA, the son of Robert Eugene Lively and the late Virginia Sosbee Evans. Mr. Lively was Christian by faith and a Baptist by choice. He was a member of and attended Spring Creek Baptist Church, Trion, GA., where he served as Treasurer and Trustee. He was employed with Chattanooga Coca Cola for 35 years. He was a past officer of the Trion 50 Yard Club and Trion Band Boosters.

Survivors include his wife, Becky Lively; daughters, Tiffany Lively Railey, Summerville, GA, and Cara Bailey, Calhoun, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Carrie Lively, Trion, GA; father and step-mother, Robert & Mae Lively, LaFayette, GA; sister, Mary Jo Mitchell, LaFayette, GA; grandchildren, Blaine Ball, Karlee Railey, Addison Lively, Logan Lively, L. A. Bailey, and Destiny Bailey; and several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Friday, December 31, 2010 at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Wilborn, Rev. Mark Smith, Rev. Derek Hall, and Rev. Chris Holman officiating.
