Willingham Obit

Miss Betty Louise Willingham, age 62, of Menlo, GA died Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at her residence.

Miss Willingham was born February 24, 1948 in Summerville, GA, the daughter of the late Chamie Harry "Dick" Willingham and Mamie Lou Chappalear Willingham. She was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills. She was a member of the Quarter Century Club and Menlo First Baptist Church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Harry Glenn and Edna Willingham; and a nephew, Terry Glenn Willingham.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Chamie and Lindsey Willingham; grandchildren, Miley Reese Willingham and Ainsley Cavin; nieces, Pam Willingham and Anita Willingham; special friends, Shirley Crain and Annette and Bill Podschelne; and a host of Furry Friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Quinn and Rev. Tommy Pledger officiating. Burial will follow in Ami Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jamie Cavin, Josh Mitchell, Jason Harris, Jackie Pritchett, Lamar Spraggins, and Greg Hawkins. Honorary pallbearers will be all members of Menlo First Baptist Church, Alpine Community Church, and the Packing Department of Mt. Vernon Mills; Robbie Kopacka, Ruth Griffith, and Joe and Jackie Smith.

Miss Willingham will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Wednesday, November 17, 2010. At other hours the family will be at Miss Willinghams residence.

 

Judy Elaine Dutton obit

Mrs. Judy Elaine Dutton, age 61, of Menlo, GA died Monday, November 15, 2010 at Floyd Medical Center.

Mrs. Dutton was born November 25, 1948 in Centre, AL, the daughter of the late William Harold Lloyd and Rosa Lloyd Pledger. She was a homemaker. Other than her parents, Mrs. Dutton was preceded in death by a step-father, L. D. Pledger; sister, Nancy Maxine Lloyd; and a grandson, Tristan Blake Gaylor.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Dutton; son and daughter-in-law, Allan and Chris Fulton; daughters and sons-in-law, Kym and Seaborn Treadaway and LaRonda and Robert Gaylor; grandchildren, Austin Fulton, Macy Fulton, Katelyn Treadaway, Chadston Jacome, Kody Jacome, and Doyle Gaylor; great grandchild, Cameron Jacome; sisters, Iva Nell Spears, Barbara Brown, and Joyce Stallings; brother, James Lamar Pledger.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Pledger officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Seaborn Treadaway, Lamar Pledger, Robert Gaylor, Chadston Jacome, Kody Jacome, Doyle Gaylor, and James Spears.

Mr. Charles William Everett Obit

Mr. Charles William Everett, age 86 of Trion, GA passed away Sunday, November 14, 2010 at his residence.

Mr. Everett was born in Walker County, Georgia on April 18, 1924, son of the late Guy Carlton Everett and Cora Akins Everett. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II. During his military service, Mr. Everett earned the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal with two bronze stars, the Philippine Liberation Medal with one bronze star and the WWII Victory Medal. He was retired from the Mt. Vernon Mills, and was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Watkins.

Mr. Everett is survived by his wife, Ruth Everett of Trion; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Wayne Gardner of Maryville, TN and Susan and Kenny Brown of Lafayette, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Dewey and Bobbie Everett of Lafayette; Sister, Nell Stakely of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; grandchildren, Heath Brown, Kyle Brown, Shelby Hightower, Amber Luhn, and Lacy Smith; 10 great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Everett will be held Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Ely officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Justin Ellison, Coty Bowman, Heath Brown, Douglas Gill, Adam Gill and Greg Tomlin.

Mr. C. Eugene “Gene” Junkins Obit

Mr. C. Eugene “Gene” Junkins, age 87 of Lafayette, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2010 at Erlanger Hospital.

Mr. Junkins was born in Trion, Georgia on November 22, 1922, son of the late Romie Junkins and Ruby Gilreath Junkins. He was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and prior to retirement was the owner and operator of The Attic Shop in Trion for over 51 years. Mr. Junkins was a veteran of WWII, having served in the United States Army, and was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Junkins, second wife, Charlotte Junkins; son, John Barry Junkins; brothers, Ray Junkins, Clifford Junkins, Jack Junkins, R.C. Junkins; and sisters, Virginia Alexander, Louise Elsberry and Charlotte L. Junkins.

Mr. Junkins is survived by his wife, Pat Junkins; sons, Harry (Dianne) Junkins, Kelly (Lana) Miller and Mike (Lorie) Lowery; daughters, Joyce (Rick) Kime and Hope (Clay) Howard; brother, Bill (LaRue) Junkins; sister, Betty Miller and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Mr. Junkins will be held Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 12:00 Noon in the chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Lowery and Rev. Tracy Bass officiating. Interment will follow in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Jamie Carrol Hedgepath, age 37, of Dallas, GA died Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at his residence.

Mr. Hedgepath was born December 23, 1972 in Dallas, GA, the son of Sanda Lou King Hedgepath and the late Jesse Charles Hedgepath. He was a member of Racoon Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include his mother, Sanda Russell, Menlo, GA; companion, Lynn Thompson; son, Dustin Hedgepath; daughter, Miracle Hedgepath, all of Dallas, GA; brothers, Lloyd Grasser, Richard Banks, Steve Banks, Wesley Banks; sisters, Sarah House, Tania Hoglund, Darci Savage,Teresa Banks, and Amanda Seagars; nieces, Amber Spiller and Grace Driver; nephews, Lucas Spiller, Daniel Hedgepath, Blake Hedgepath, and Issac Hoglund.

Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p. m. Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Mason Funeral Home.

Vestal Hill obit

Mrs. Vestal M. Hill, age 90, of Summerville, GA, passed away Thursday November 11, 2010 in Oakview Nursing and Rehabilatation Center.

Mrs Hill was born September 1, 1920, in Dekalb Alabama, the daughter of the late Fred and Clara Campbell Wilkes. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Hill and a son, Rev. Alred Henderson.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Glenda Henderson; granddaughter, Beth Quinn; and 2 great-grandchildren, Andrew Quinn and Laura Quinn; sister, LaDell Draughon; brother, Jimmy Wilkes.

Graveside and interment services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Saturday, November 13, 2010 at West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Scott Quinn officiating. Mrs. Hill will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until the service hour on Saturday.

Mr. Jeffery Bradford Ware, age 53, of Lindale, Georgia passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at his residence.

Mr. Ware was born in Lafayette, Georgia on August 4, 1957, son of Julia Lawanda Little Ware and the late George Arnold Ware. He was a graduate of Trion High School, where he was a member of the 1974 State Champion Football Team and the 1973 State Champion Baseball Team. He was of the Baptist Faith and was employed with Southeastern Mills in Rome. In addition to his father, Mr. Ware was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannine Luker Ware,

Margie Simmons Purcell obit

MRS. MARGIE SIMMONS PURCELL, age 94, on Tuesday, November 2, 2010, went home to be with the Lord. She was born October 2, 1916 to the late Ernest Simmons and Rachel Jones Simmons. She was a Charter employee of Best Mfg. Company in Menlo, Georgia, a member of the Best Silver Club, and a member of the Menlo Church of Christ. Among her many talents was the life long ability to make beautiful quilts, which she shared with her family and friends. She was able to enjoy this talent until her last days. She is the widow of the late Frank Eugene Purcell to whom she was married for 57 years; in addition to parents she was preceded in death by a son the late Jimmy Purcell, four Brothers, and four Sisters.

She is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law-Kenneth & Maureen Purcell of Douglasville, Paul & Doris Purcell of Trion; daughter and son-in-law-Glenda & Jackie Hamilton of Menlo; 7 grandsons & wives-Don & Patti Purcell, Randy Hamilton, Bobby Purcell, Chris & Kathy Purcell, Kelly & Gini Hamilton, Kendall & Paula Purcell, Aubrey & Brandi Purcell; 10 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Granddaughter; sisters-in-law-Willie Henry Simmons, Louetta Simmons, Dixie Spraggins, & Jesse Purcell; brother-in-law-Claude Russell; Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Mrs. Sarah Harper Hutchins

Mrs. Sarah Harper Hutchins, age 86, of Summerville, GA died Monday, November 1, 2010 at her residence.

Mrs. Hutchins was born May 30, 1924 in LaFayette, GA, the daughter of the late Walter J. and Mary Jewel Mize Harper. She was retired from the Chattooga County School System. She taught school for 38 years teaching in Welmeyer, Trion, and Menlo Schools. Mrs. Hutchins was a member of the Beersheba Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate of West Georgia University and Berry College. Mrs. Hutchins was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sara Jane Hunter.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, W. A. Hutchins, son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Genela Hutchins; daughters and son-in-law, Ann Hutchins, Mary and Kevin Firsdon; grandchildren, Kasey Green Wilson, Lori Hunter Brady, Ethan Hutchins, and Amy Hutchins Hartline; great grandchildren, Jacob Hutchins, Katilyn Hutchins, Seth Wilson, Blayne Wilson, and Price Wilson; special caregivers, Opal Deering and Linda Abernathy.

Mrs. Mary Lou Cherry Woods

MRS. MARY LOU CHERRY WOODS, age 91, of Mahan Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday afternoon (October 31, 2010) in a Fort Oglethorpe hospital. A daughter of the late John Monty and Georgia Lena Miller Cherry, Mrs. Woods was born in Chattooga County, Georgia on June 29, 1919 and was preceded in death by her husband the late Rev. Alfred J. Woods on February 25, 2000.

Surviving are daughter & son-in-law-Beulah & Roger Keith of Mentone, Alabama; son & daughter-in-law-Tommy & Barbara Woods of Summerville; Six Grandchildren, Two Step-Grandchildren, Twenty Seven Great Grandchildren, Three Great Great Grandchildren, several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 3 at 11:00 A.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Keith and Rev. Robert Patterson officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Ryan Willingham, Richard Gifford, Bobby Edgeworth, Brian Keith, Jamie Chesnut and Steve Chesnut.
