Mrs. Frances Anderson Coons, age 85 of Old Hwy #337, Menlo, GA passed away Monday afternoon in the local nursing home.  Born in Manchester, GA on May 2, 1925 to the late Brice and Bobie Irine Colson Anderson.  Mrs. Coons was a memeber of the Summerville First Baptist Church and retired telephone operator for Southern Bell. She was preceded in death by her husband the late Charles Raymond Coons, grandson-the late Jim McCarley, sisters- the late Gladys and Mary Anderson, and brothers-the late Bud (Willie) and Freeman Anderson.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law Carol and Ken McCarley of Menlo, GA; granddaughter and grandson-in-law Kristy and David Parker of Lyerly, GA; Great grandsons Seth Parker and Luke Parker; sister- Evelyn Anderson of FL; serveral neices and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wedneday, August 11th at 2:30pm from the graveside in Georgia memorial Park, Marietta, GA with Dr. Kenneth Summey officiating.  The Family will receive friends at the Funeral home Wednesday from 10 until 11:00am

Mr. Eugene Watkins, Jr (bubba) age 70, of Lafayette, GA passed away Saturday, August 7, 2010.  he was a member of Prospect Baptist Church , Retired from US Army National Guard after 26 years, retired from Roper Corp, and member of the Spiritual Uplifters Gospel Group.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Eugene and Mrs. Pearl Brooks Watkins, Sr, son Mr, Cassius Watkins, brother Mr. Johnny Watkins.

Survivors are his loving family, wife, Mrs. Treava Genell Watkins; sons, Mr. Eddie Watkins of Summerville, GA, Mr. Shawn Watkins, Pastor Greg (Lashea) Ludy of Lafayette, GA, Mr. Adrain (Chiquita) Ludy of Dalton, GA; Daughter, Ms. Lula Whittenberry of Summerville, GA, brother Mr. Hubert (Mariel) Watkins, sister, Mrs. Julia Echols of Toledo, Ohio; fifteen grandchildren; father-in-law, mother-in-law, Mr. John (Mildred) Griffin, brother-in-law, Mr. John Henry Griffin of Lafayette, sister-in-law, Mrs. Yuvette (chevette) Suttle of Atlanta, GA; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Eugene Watkins will be Friday, August 13, 2010 at 11:00am at Prospect Baptist Church with Pastor Greg Ludy, Jr., Elder G.M. Jeremy Dewayn Greene, age 25 of LaFayette, died Sunday August 8th.

He is survived by his parents, Jeff Greene of LaFayette, Sandra Suits Rutledge of Summerville; sister- Jennifer Browning of LaFayette; brothers – Aaron Rutledge of Summerville, Calbe Greene, Austin Greene of LaFayette; step-brother – Gregory Parker of Villanow; grandparents – Fred and Etta Greene of LaFayette, Mary and Gene Denney of Summerville; step-grandmothers – Glenda Rutledge of Summerville, Sandra Stanfield of Ringgold; nieces – Lindsey Browning, Murphy Browning; nephews – Ethan Adams and Evan Adams.

Mr. Jerry Edward Johnson, age 68 of Summerville, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at his residence.

Mr. Johnson was born in Menlo, Georgia on September 11, 1941, son of the late William Clay Johnson and Mary Lou Pike Johnson. He was veteran of the United States Army and was employed with Mt. Vernon Mills.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his brothers, Billy Johnson and Stephen Johnson; sisters, Barbara Johnson Ware, Margaret J. Johnson, Paulette Lamb; and a number of nieces and nephews.

According to Mr. Johnson’s wishes, he has been cremated. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 P.M. Sunday, August 8, 2010 at the residence of his brother, Billy Johnson, 217 Orchard Hill Road, Summerville.

Aunt Addie Littlejohn Boatman, age 93 of Trion, went home to be with her Lord Sunday August 1, 2010.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Boatman, son in laws Melvin Tudor and Jearl Burrell.

She was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 60 years. 

Survived by daughters Alice D. Tudor, Trion; Barbara A. Burrell, LaFaytte; sister Eveyln Harris, Chatsworth; grandson Brent Burrell, great-grandaughter Breanna Berell, several nieces and nephews also survive.

MR. HUGH LEE PLESS, Sr. age 79, of Cloudland, Georgia passed away Monday (August 2, 2010). A native of Chattooga County, Mr. Pless was born to the late Earnest Lee and Katie Lee Alexander Pless on November 28, 1930. He was a member of the Menlo First Baptist Church, a U.S. Army Veteran of Korea, and a retired building contractor. Mr. Pless was preceded in death by his wife the late Ruth (Sissie) Kiser Pless and a son the late Hugh Lee Pless, Jr.

Surviving are son-Barry Pless of Cloudland; brother-Joe Pless of Menlo; grandchildren-Justyn Pless, Cheyenne Pless, and Jeff Pless; Nieces and Nephews also survive.

The Family will receive friends Tuesday, August 3rd, from 6 until 8 P.M. at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home.  A service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Franklin D. Rogers, age 70, of Cloudland, GA, passed away Saturday July 31, 2010, in Ft Payne, AL. Mr. Rogers was born March 30, 1940, in Jackson County Alabama, the son of the late John Emory and Gertrude Hemphill Rogers. He was retired from Mohawk, and a member of the Cove Road Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Lorene Huskey Rogers, children, Charles Rogers, Darryl Rogers, Eric Rogers, Diane Rogers Cox, brother, Landon Rogers, grandchildren, Casin Rogers, Joshua Rogers, Desirae Rogers, Olivia Rogers,  Chelsea Stoker, Jessie Stoker, Landon Hill, Leigha Rogers, Hailey Rogers, Drae Dozier, Cody Smith, Alece and Derrek Reynolds.

 Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m.Tuesday August 3, 2010 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marlin Starnes officiating with interment in the Mt Olive Cemetery. Active pallbearers, Casin Rogers, Chuck Caheeley, Joshua Rogers, Dale Cox, Tyler Huskey, Allen Huskey.
