Mrs. Laura Hensley

Mrs. Laura Hensley, age 89, of Johnny Dr., Trion, GA passed away Monday, June 21, 2010 at the residence.  Mrs. Hensley was born on July 1, 1920 in Lafayette, GA.  She was retired from Summerville Cotton Mills and was Baptist by faith. Mrs. Hensley was preceded in death by her husband, Olin S. Hensley; a son, Johnny L. Hensley; her father and mother, John Elisha and Nancy Eliza Dowdy West; and serveral brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Hensley is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Patsy Rutherford, Sandra Dunn and Carolyn and William Fowler all of Trion, GA, a brother, Johnny West of Gayton, GA; 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-greatgrandchildren; serveral nieces and nephews also survived.

funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at 2pm, from the chapel of the Erwin-Petitt funeral Home with Rev. Mickey Skates and Rev. Gary Wells officiating.  Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetary.

Mrs. Hensley will lie- in- state, Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Harris, Robbie Jones, Nathan Dunn, Bo Dunn, Frankie Willingham, and Bobbie Jones.  These gentlemen are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 1:30pm on Wednesday.

Mr. Johnny William Tapp Obit

MR. JOHNNY WILLIAM TAPP, age 64, of Dogwood Circle-Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010, evening at his residence. A native Chattooga Countian He was born to the late Charlie William and Bertha Baldwin Tapp on August 17, 1945. Mr. Tapp was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and retired fixer from Carron Mills in LaFayette. He was preceded in death by sister-the late Betty Slayton, brother-the late Horace Tapp, & grandson-Timothy Hall.

Surviving are His wife-Doris Tapp; daughters and spouse-Rebecca & Tim Hall, Faye Tapp Pruitt & fiancée-Tommy Johnson all of Summerville; brother-Charles Tapp of Calhoun; sister-Sara Wester of Summerville; grandchildren-Justin & Ashley Tapp, Alexis, Harley, & Tapanga Hall & Casey Beaver; great grandchildren-Colton & Braden Tapp, & Bailey Beaver; god children-Christy & Amanda Price & Kandy Elrod; several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 22nd , at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Sanford Deberry, Jimmy Caldwell, and Ray Caldwell officiating, interment in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Mrs. Marylin Renee Allen

Mrs. Marilyn Renee Allen, age 37, of Summerville, GA took ther final breath after four years of courageous battle with cancer on Friday, June 18, 2010 at Floyd Medical Center.

Mrs. Allen was born February 11, 1973 in Albany, GA, the daughter of Robert Gardner and the late Patricia Pope. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. Mrs. Allen was a devoted wife, loving mother, sister, and aunt.

Survivors include her husband, Larry David Allen; daughters, Bridgette Buffington, Summer Buffington, and Angel Allen; also, her husband’s children which she claimed as her very own, Jeremy Allen and Jessica Boatner; father, Robert Gardner; sister and brother-in-law, Lori and Kevin Buffington; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Donna Gardner; step-brother, Robert Lewis; 7 Grandchildren; nephews, Cameron and Dustin Buffington; her wonderful pastor, Tony Jackson and her church family at Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Monday June 21, 2010 at Ebenezer Baptist Churchwith Rev. Tony Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tommy Pruitt, Euel Pierce, Darrell Crider, Barry Aycock, Josh Tudor, and Tim Johnson.

Mrs. Allen will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Sunday, June 20, 2010. She will lie in state at Ebenezer Baptist Church on Monday from 1:00 until the service hour.

 

Rodney Hugh Leming obit

Mr. Rodney Hugh Leming, age 50, of Summerville, GA died Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Redmond
Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Leming was born January 16, 1960 in Summerville, GA, the son of Howard Leming and the
late Arvarleen Sisson Leming. Mr. Leming was a member of the South Commerce Church of
Christ, the Heritage Foundation, the United States Capitol Historical Society, and the NRA.
Survivors include his wife, Dana Crane Leming; father, Howard Leming; brother, Harold Leming;
18 Nephews, Nieces, Great-nephews, and Great-nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Friday, June 18, 2010 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Min. Thomas Lesley officiating.  Burial will follow in Summerville Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Employees of Redmond Regional Medical Center.

John Wesley Hester obit

Mr. John Wesley Hester, age 82, of Gaylesville, AL, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Hester was born in Cherokee County, Alabama on August 6, 1927, son of the late William Hester and Dicie Bowman Hester. He attended the Chesterfield Baptist Church and was a veteran of WWII having served in the United States Army. Prior to retirement, Mr. Hester was employed with Mohawk Industries enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hester was preceded in death by brothers, Pelham Hester and Buddy Hester; sisters, Rosa Dell Ward, Nancy Miller and Ethel Hester.

Mr. Hester is survived by his wife, Zennia E. Hester, Gaylesville; daughter, Kristin Brooke Hester, Gaylesville; sister, Annie Ruth Thomas, Summerville; 6 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Hester will be held Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Maddox officiating. Interment will follow in the Green Hills Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Teddy Calvert, Zack Rabun, Leo Bridges, Michael Bridges, Ricky Cavin and William Thomas. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Cavin, Jim Crowe, Bill Crowe, Calvin Deering, and Smitty Smith.

James Odell Adams obit

Mr. James Odell Adams, age 54, of Summerville, GA died Monday, June 14, 2010 at RedmondRegional Medical Center.

Mr. Adams was born September 24, 1955 in Holland GA, the son of Wiley Adams and Rosie Helen Lawrence Adams. He was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills. Mr. Adams was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his parents, Wiley and Rosie Helen Adams; step-son, Richard Glass; step- daughter, Verkesha Glass; sisters, Linda Mae Lawrence, Mary Helen Almond, Gloria Jean Adams, Teresa Ann Blair; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rickey and Chasidy Adams, Wiley and Jessie Adams, Jr., Michael Ladell and Melody Adams, Larry Lamont and Janet Adams, Terry and Wendy McArthur.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Friday, June 18, 2010 at Mason Funeral Home. with Bishop V.T. Harden officiating, burial will follow in Summerville Cemetery. Pallbearers are Kenneth Tubbs, Delveckio Adams, Jerry Samson, Tommy Lawrence, Johnny Stanley, Rickey Stone.

Evelyn Smith Burdett obit

Mrs. Evelyn Smith Burdett, age 89 of Trion, GA. passed away Monday, June 14, 2010 in Redmond Regional Medical Center.  She was born March 12, 1921 in Greenwood, SC.  She was retired from Mount Vernon Mills, a member of the Quarter Century Club, and was a member of the Trion United Methodist Church where she sang in the Church Choir for 50 years.

Mrs. Burdett was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Burdett; son, Richard Dale Burdett; father and mother, James Pratt and Ida Helen Hellams Smith; sisters, Alice Mabrey and Hazel maffett; and brother, James Pratt Smith, Jr.

Mrs. Burdett is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, James M. and Pat Burdett of Peachtree City, GA; Winston R and Jimmie Lee Burdett of Mountain City, TN and Marilyn Burdett Clark of Summerville, GA; sister Grace Hawthorne of Abbeyville, SC, grandchildren, Ronald G. Burdett, Pamela Burdett Fincher, and Melissa Burdett; 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survived.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 2 pm from the chapel of the Ewrin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Art Graves and Rev. Rob Pierce officiating.   Interment will follow in th West Hill Cemetary.

Mrs. Burdett will lie-in-state Thursday, June 17, 2010 at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 12 to 2pm.

Mrs. Katie Louise Baggett, age 90, of Summerville, GA, passed away Monday June 14, 2010, at her residence. Mrs. Baggett was born December 10, 1919, in Cherokee County Alabama, the daughter of the late William Taylor and Mamie Brooks Tallent. She was retired from Riegel Textile Mill, a member of the Trion 1st Baptist Church, and preceded in death by her 1st husband, Walter Baggett, 3 brothers, and 5 sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Herbert Wolfenbarger, son, Tallent S. Baggett, sisters, Katherine Barton, Kathleen Davenport, 3 grandchildren, 6 great- grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday June 16, 2010, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Russell officiating with interment in the Greenhills Memory Garden. Mrs. Baggett will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Wednesday June 16, 2010 from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour. Mrs. Allie Elizabeth Price Wooten Black

Mrs. Allie Elizabeth Price Wooten Black (BIG MAMA)- age 69 of Trion GA. passed away Friday, June 11, 2010 at her residence.  She was a widow of the late Mr. Horace Emanuel Wooten, Sr. and Mr. Frank Black.  She was a member of the Baptist faith.   Born in Gayesville, AL to the late Mr. Homer and Mrs. Mamie Stalling Price.  Three brothers and eight sisters preceded her in death.

Survivors are her loving children and family, Rebecca (Rodney) Hill, Regana (Gregg) Hayes, Horace (Audrey) Wooten, Jr. of Summerville, GA; and Diedre (Garland) Shropshire of Lafayette, GA; step-daughter, Ms. Tracey Esmann, twenty grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, a loyal friend, Mr. James Marrow of Trion, GA; four sisters, Ms. Classie Evans, Ms. Patricia Martin of Summerville, GA; Mrs. Linda (Billy) Morgan of Lyerly, GA; and Mrs. Sarah (Noah) Harris of Atlanta, GA; brothers-in law, Mr. George Powell of Trion, Ga; Mr. Herman Pollard of Summerville, GA; Mr. W D Finley of Lyerly, GA; Mr. Samuel (Annie) Black; sister-in-law, Mrs. Carrie Young, Mrs. Eva Byron of Summerville, GA; niece, Mrs. Betsy Perry, other devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Laney Obit

Mrs. Lucille Laney, age 90, of Trion, passed away peacefully at her home, in the loving care of her family, Sunday, June 13, 2010.  Affectionately known as "Cile," Lucille was the last surviving child of James and Minnie Walker and spent her childhood years in LaFayette and Trion.

On December 12, 1945 she married the love of her life, Charles H. Laney.  They worked for Riegelwhich was later bought by Boss Manufacturing.  When Boss opened a plant in Geenville, AL, Lucille and Charles made their home in Greenville for 37 years, adding their son Michael in 1962.  Lucille loved God, her family, and friends with all her heart.

Mrs. Laney is survived by her son Michael (Vicky) Laney, much loved granddaughter, Liz (Adam) Goulding, great-grandson, Evan Goulding, special nieces, Judy Haviland and Nell McAbee, nephews, Andrew Walker, Kelly and Kelvin Cordell, as well as many nephews, nieces, and life long friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. George Nix officiating. Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery.
