Terry Willingham obit

Mr. Terry G. Willingham, age 49, of Menlo, Georgia, passed away Friday, June 11, 2010 at his residence.

Mr. Willingham was born in Summerville, Georgia on October 22, 1960, son of the late Harry Glenn and Edna Earl Smith Willingham. He was a member of the Alpine Community Church, Past President of the Menlo Lions Club and past Chairman of the Menlo Boy Scout Troop. Prior to retirement, Mr. Willingham was employed with Mohawk Industries and was a member of the Menlo Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry Chamie Willingham and Mamie Lou Willingham and Lillard Fife Smith and Maude Bennett Smith.

Mr. Willingham is survived by his wife of 23 years, Anita Hall Willingham of Menlo; sister, Pamela A. Willingham of Menlo; Aunts, Shirley Crain and Betty Willingham of Menlo; Uncle, Mell Smith of Trion; Special Niece, Jamie Lynne Corbin and Special Great nephew, Cody Corbin; 7 nieces and nephews; 9 great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Willingham will be held Sunday, June 13, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Pledger and Mr. David Luther officiating. Interment will follow in the Alpine Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Powell, Greg Smith, David Luther, Sammy Frazier, Mike Martin and Jeff Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Menlo Volunteer Fire Department and the Staff of Harbin Clinic Dialysis Center.

Mr. Willingham will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 until 8 P.M.

 

C.E.Lowery Obit

Mr. E C Lowery, age 87, of Menlo, GA died Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Lowery was born February 9, 1923 in Boaz, AL, the son of the late Boss and Eula Mae Morton Lowery. He was retired from Riegel Textile after 37 years of service. He was a member of the Riegel Quarter Century Club. Mr. Lowery was also a cattle farmer. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in WWII. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Joe Lowery; and brothers, Coy Lowery, Roy Lowery, Clifford Lowery, Truman Lowery, T. S. Lowery, Fred Lowery, J. B. Lowery and Hancil Lowery.

Mr. Lowery is survived by his wife of 59 years, Thelma Stoker Lowery; sisters and brother-in- law, Evis Rinehart and Charlene and Wheeler Evans; sisters-in-law, Mary Lowery and Brownie Lowery; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Monnie Stoker.

Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p. m. Friday, June 11,2010 at Greenhills Memory Gardens with Rev. John Mann officiating. Active pallbearers will be Gary Lowery, Randy Stoker, Butch Young, Richard Rinehart, Raymond Ware, and Leon Rinehart. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill & Jeanette Kinzey, Tommy & Janice Turkett, Dennis and Lisa Bullard, Butch and Judy Noland, and Rebecca Young.

Mr. Lowery will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 1:00 p. m. until the service hour on Friday, June 11, 2010.

 

Homer Connor Middleton

Mr. Homer Connor Middleton, age 81, of Summerville, GA died Thursday, June 10, 2010 at his residence.

Mr. Middleton was born April 22, 1929 in Rome, GA, the son of the late Vince and Mamie Simmons Middleton. He was a member of the North Summerville Baptist Church where he had served as deacon for 36 years. He was retired from Georgia Rug Mill. Mr. Middleton was preceded in death by a son, Lamar Middleton, brothers, Willie V. Middleton, Alfred Middleton, sisters, Fronie Couey and Vivian Cothran.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Middleton; sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas & Phyllis Middleton, Michael & Faye Middleton, and Steve & Teresa Middleton, Sheryl Middleton, all of Summerville, GA; brothers, Emmett Middleton, Bobby Middleton, Ned Middleton, Harvey Middleton, all of Rome, GA, and Russel Middleton, Calhoun, GA; 14 Grandchildren; 30 Great-grandchildren; and 1 Great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Russell and Bro. Jimmy Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Tony Middleton, Tommy Middleton, Kevin Middleton, Matthew Middleton, William Middleton, and Durham Mayo. Honorary pallbearers will be Great-Grandchildren.

Mr. Middleton will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Friday.

 

Wooten Obit

Mr. Ronnie Lee "Crew" Wooten, age 61, of Trion, GA died Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Floyd Medical Center.

Mr. Wooten was born June 7, 1949 in Trion, GA, the son of Fay Barfield Wooten and the late Roland Wooten. He was a self employed truck driver,he loved to play poker with his closest poker friends, Larry Hamilton, Jason & Brenda Eskridge, Jerry Butler, Bud Bean, and Steve "Pee-Wee" Deprima.

Mr. Wooten is survived by his wife, Jan Wooten; son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Melanie Wooten; Summerville, GA; mother, Fay Wooten, Trion, GA; sisters and brother-in-law, Betty and Jerry Corbin, Summerville, GA and Vickie Thomas, Trion, GA; grandchildren, Cayla Burkhalter, Dylan Thomas, Ashley Thomas, Trace Burkhalter, and Josh Timmons. Nieces and Nephews, Great Nieces and Great Nephews also survive.

Mrs. Louise Price Powell 80 of Summerville passed away on Sunday June 6th at her residence…She was retired from Mount Vernon Mills born in Gayesville Alabama to the late Homer and Mamie Stalling Price, one son Mr. Ray Price , granddaughter Jerica London, 3 brothers and 7 sisters preceded her in death…Survivors include her husband of 53 years Mr. George O Powell, one son  Homer and Debra Price, 2 daughters, Betsy and Wayne Perry and  Angelia Powell, 5 sisters,  Classie Evans,  Patricia Martin, and  Allie Black all of Summerville,  Linda and Billy Morgan of Lyerly, Sarah and Noah Harris of Atlanta…Mother in law Minnie Powell of LaFayette, 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren 2 great-great grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive….Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 10th, at 2 Pm from New Spirit and Truth in Jesus Church on Scoggins Street with Eulogist Dr. Willie Womble and Bishop V.T. Mr. Tony "Hapa" Dumaurier London , 59 of Dalton , formerly of Summerville passed away Sunday at Memorial Health Care System in Chattanooga.  He was a member and deacon of New Bethal Baptist Church and retired from Alltel Phone Company and was preceded in death by his mother, Ms. Maggie Young London…Survivors are his loving family, a wife of 34 years, Mrs. Paula London, 2 daughters, Ms. Summer London of Dalton, Ms. Autumn London of Atlanta…2 grandchildren Kendrix and Kamdon London, father Tony London of LaFayette, 2 sisters Ms. Marcelle McIver of Griffin, and Ms. Kimberly Moore of Atlanta, one brother Mr. Renaldo London of Ridgeland South Carolina, one aunt Ms. Irene McClendon of Columbus Ohio, and uncle Mr. Buddy McCutchins of Trion , Mother in law Ms. Ernestine Suttle of LaFayette, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephewws, cousins, other relatives and friends also survive….

Mrs. Ruby Hammond Clark

Mrs. Ruby Hammond Clark, formerly of Summerville, GA, of Mentone, AL, passed away Friday, June 4, 2010 at her residence. Mrs. Clark was born November 28, 1916 in Menlo, GA, the daughter of the late George Harrison and Ella Strickland Hammond. She was retired from the Chrysler Corporation after 30 years of service and was a member of the South Summerville Baptist Church.

Besides her parents, Mrs. Clark was preceeded in death by her husband, Bushart Clark; brothers and sisters, Aliene Nicholson, Annie Myrtle Day, Robert Hammond, Kelly V. Hammond, Sibyl Parker and Lucille Burk Ratliff.

Sur vivors include brothers, George Hammond of Maryville, TN and Hill Hammond of Summerville, GA; step-grandaughters, Rena Mohr of Crossnore, NC and Tammie Stonebach of North Carolina; several nieces and nephews also survived.

Memorial Services will be held Sunday June 13th at 2Pm from the South Summerville Baptist Church with Rev. David Craven and Rev. Jimmy Bryant officiating.

Mr. Henry E. Chappelear

MR. HENRY E. CHAPPELEAR, age 89, of Menlo, Georgia passed away Friday (June 4, 2010) at his residence. He was born to the late William Richard and Rosa Dell Estes Chappelear on November 5, 1920. Mr. Chappelear, a prominent Chattooga County Farmer, was a member of the Menlo United Methodist Church, a Veteran of WW II and was preceded in death by his wife the late Lena Mae Chappelear.

Surviving are sister-Helen Hudson of Rome; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday (June 6th) at 2:00 p.m. from the Menlo United Methodist Church with Rev. J. B. McNeil officiating, interment in Green Hills Memory Gardens. . The Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Saturday from 6 until 8 P.M., Mr. Chappelear will lie in state at the Church from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service Sunday.
