Mrs. Faye Belle Johnson obit

Mrs. Faye Belle Johnson, age 89, of Lake Wanda Reita Road in Summerville, GA passed away Wednesday (June 2, 2010) evening in a Rome hospital.  A native of Chattooga County, GA.  She was born on June 26,1920 to the late T. C. and Sally Warren Whitley.  Mrs. Johnson attended the North Summerville Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband the late Ben F. Johnson, Sr. and a great granddaughter the late Bailey Henry.

Surviving are 2 daughter- Brenda Chambers of Summerville and Gail Henry of New Mexico; grandchildren- Donna Smith, Tim Henry, Donnie Henry, Amy Ward, and Mary Beth Morrison; ten Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, (June 5th) at 2:00 pm from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Russell officiating, interment in Berryton Cemetary.  The Family will receive friends Friday evening from 6pm to 8pm at the Earle Rainwater Funeral Home.

Mr. Thomas Wade Bryant obit

Mr. Thomas Wade Bryant, age 58, of Summerville, GA died suddenly on June 3, 2010 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Bryant was born on February 14, 1952 in Somerset, KY, the son of the late Arnold and Mary Jo Bales Bryant. He was a special education teacher at Armuchee High School and was the offensive line coach for the football team. Mr. Bryant had coached for over 30 years. He had a long and prestigious coaching career at every level of football. He was a successful Head College Coach and Defensive Co-ordinator who left college coaching in order to put his family first. Mr. Bryant is survived by his wife, Laura Bryant; sons, Austin Bryant and Champ Bryant; sisters and brother-in-law, Jo Anne McFarland, Carla Bryant, and Janie and Fred Hillard; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Lois Bratton; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p. m. Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Mason Funeral Home with interment to follow in Somerset, KY at a later date. Coach Tom Dowling and Coach Mike Ayers will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be the Offensive Line of Armuchee High School.

Mr. Bryant will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends and family from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m on Saturday, June 5, 2010 and from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. Sunday. The family asks that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Thomas W. Bryant Memorial Scholarship through United Community Bank, 9699 Rome, Blvd., Summerville, GA 30747.

 

Mr.Henry E Chappelear Obit – Updated

MR. HENRY E. CHAPPELEAR, age 89, of Menlo, Georgia passed away Friday (June 4, 2010) at his residence. He was born to the late William Richard and Rosa Dell Estes Chappelear on November 5, 1929. Mr. Chappelear, a prominent Chattooga County Farmer, was a member of the Menlo United Methodist Church, a Veteran of WW II and was preceded in death by his wife the late Lena Mae Chappelear.

Surviving are sister-Helen Hudson of Rome; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday (June 6th) at 2:00 p.m. from the Menlo United Methodist Church with Rev. J. B. McNeil officiating, interment in Green Hills Memory Gardens. . The Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Saturday from 6 until 8 P.M., Mr. Chappelear will lie in state at the Church from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service Sunday.

Mr. Howard Lee Eaton Obit

Mr. Howard Lee Eaton, age 94, of Summerville, GA, passed away Tuesday June 1, 2010, in Signature Healthcare of Cleveland, TN.

Mr. Eaton was born Oct. 16, 1915, in Summerville, GA, the son of the late John and Lizzie Mae Johnson Eaton. He was retired from Reigel Textile, a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII, and a member of the Trion First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Gertrude Mason Eaton.

Survivors include daughter & son-in-law, Sherry Diane & William Harris, sons & daughters-in-law, David Lee & Gloria Eaton, Johnny & Julie Eaton, step-brother, Clifford Pledger, 5 grandchildren, Angela Wooden, Chase Eaton, Casey Eaton, Taylor Eaton, Mason Eaton, great-grandchildren, Austin Melton and Katie Melton.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a. m. Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Warren Moorhead and Rev. Jim Cordell officiating with interment in the Greenhills Memory Garden. Active pallbearers will be Billy Locklear, Phillip Holder, Stan Reynolds, Tim Chamblee, Leo Lanier, Tim Pickle, Jason Pickle, Nick Wolfgram. Mrs. Stella Brewster Obit

Mrs. Stella Louise Brewster, age 67, of Summerville, GA passed away Saturday, May 29, 2010 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Brewster was born in DeKalb County, Alabama on February 14, 1943, daughter of the late Willie Edgar Brewster and Dovie Mae Hulgan Brewster. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Allen Bramlett, brothers, James Arthur Brewster, Henry Tom Brewster and two sisters, Patty Sigler and Billy Jo Harkins.

Mrs. Brewster is survived by a son, Randy Wooten, Summerville; daughters and sons-in-law, Raynell and Alan Duke, Menlo and Marie and Jason Broome, Armuchee; Brothers, Tommy(Dorothy) Brewster, Johnny(Judy) Brewster and Ronnie(Brenda) Brewster all of Summerville; sisters, Gladys Hartline, Bernice(Frank) Morris of Summerville, Ollie Henderson, Rome, Ruby Norris of Alabama and Bobby Boling of Calhoun; Grandchildren, Jamie Childers, Amy Dennis, Keith Childers, Justin Bramlett, Jeremy Bramlett, Leslie Bramlett, Allie Jo Wooten, Matthew Wooten, Madison Broome and Morgan Broome; Great Grandchildren, Jamey Beth Childers, Ely Childers, Kawyer Dennis, Kaycee Dennis, Carly Childers, Karly Bramlett, Conner Bramlett, Katelyn Bramlett, Elizabeth Bramlett and Emma Bramlett; special niece and nephew, Teresa and Carlas Norris; a number of nieces and nephews, and a lifetime friend, Ann Pledger.

Ms. Shelia McCormack Obit

Shelia Jane McCormick, age 57 of Knollwood Circle – Summerville, passed away Sunday May 30, 2010 at Floyd Medical Center.  She was born on July 7, 1952 in Chattooga County, daughter of the late Dewey Dupree and Mary Jane Haney Dupree.  She was a hyster driver at Mowhawk Industries and a member of South Summerville Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her father Dewey Dupree and a brother Benny Ray Dupree.

Survivors include her husband, Michael Wayne McCormack, Summerville; daughter, Duchess Dupree, Summerville; mother – Mary Jane Dupree, Summerville.  Two brothers – Winston Dupree and Johnny Dupree both of Summerville; Three Uncles- J.W., Dalwin and Donnie Dupree all of Summerville.

Funeral Services willbe conducted Tuesday, June 1 at 11 AM from the Chapel of Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Sanford Deberry officating.  Cremation will follow the service.

Mrs. McCormick will lie in state, Monday – May 31, 2010 at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from Noon until 2 PM.

Mr. Jesse Trenton Wilson, SR, age 69, of Trion, GA, passed away Thursday May 27, 2010 at his residence.

Mr. Wilson was born August 18, 1940, in Nichols, GA, the son of the late Jesse James and Mamie Lee Taylor Wilson. He was a retired mechanic for Salem Carpet and a member of the Trion Heights Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Wilkerson Wilson; children, Vickey Johnson, Lisa Wilson, Julie Barber, Jesse (Jay) Wilson, Jr; sisters, Mary Marr, Gail Rowe, Betty Rewis, Jenny Carter, Pat Davis; brother, James Wilson; and 6 Grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p. m. Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Jimmy Wilborn officiating. Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Charles Littlejohn, Larry Wilson, Buddy Carter, Randy Stoker, Ken Wilson, and J.J. Wilson.

Paisley Rebecca Fulmer Obit

Paisley Rebecca Fulmer, age 6 months, of Rome, GA passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 22, 2010 at her home.

Paisley is the infant daughter of Cody and Cassie Fulmer and was born November 22, 2009 in Rome, GA. She was preceded in death by a grandparent, Tonya Taylor; great-great-grandparents, Howard and Wanda Pollard, and Mary Lou Browning.

In addition to her parents, Paisley is survived by a sister, Zailee Grace Fulmer; grandparents, Harold and Lynn Pollard, Rome, GA and Anky and Candy Fulmer, Summerville, GA; great-grandparents, Robert and Mary Taylor, Vickie Fulmer,Mike and Kay Fulmer, all of Summerville, GA; great-grandparents, Buck and Betty Johnson, Great-great-grandparents Harold and Frankie Gordon, all of Summerville, GA.

Mr.Charles “Rab” Reynolds

Mr. Charles "Rab" Reynolds, age 75, of Summerville, GA died Monday, May 24, 2010 at his residence.

Mr. Reynolds was born June 15, 1934 in Chattooga County, GA the son of the late Bill and Beulah Stewart Reynolds. Mr. Reynolds was retired from Mohawk Industries. He was a member of Four Mile Baptist Church. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, and gardening. Mr. Reynolds was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tabatha Wooten; brother, Billy Reynolds; and a sister, Betty Howell.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Reynolds; children, Eric and Annette Reynolds, Deborah Wilkins, and Melissa and Barry Wooten, all of Summerville, GA; sisters, Joyce Brown, Lyerly, GA and Kathy Dillard, Summerville, GA; brothers, Bud Reynolds and Duck Reynolds, Summerville, GA; grandchildren, Derick Wilkins, Leah Reynolds, Jacob Reynolds, Brandon Wooten, Amanda Wright, and Shaun Wooten; great grandson, Caden Wright.

Mr. Gaines “Tarp” Bowers Obit

Mr. Gaines Edward (Tarp) Bowers, age 82, of Summerville, GA, passed away Saturday Morning at the Cozy Manor Assisted Living in Lafayette, GA.

Mr. Bowers was born April 9, 1928, in Chattooga County Georgia, the son of the late Henry Franklin and Laura Locklear Bowers. He was a retired Weave Room Supervisor with 38 years of service with Mt. Vernon Mills, a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in WWII and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Bowers was a member of the Trion 1st Baptist Church, and the Riegel Textile Quarter Century Club. Mr. Bowers was preceded in death by sisters, Addie Mount, Aline Kirk, brothers, Robert Bowers, John H. Bowers, and Lewis Bowers.

Survivors include his wife, Eva Mary Stewart Bowers, sons, Larry Edward Bowers, P. Michael Bowers, brother, Frank O. Bowers, grandchildren, Kirsten Brown, Ted Bowers, Matthew Bowers, Shanna Dawson, Phillip Bowers and 7 Great-grandchildren.
