Thelma June Millican obit

Mrs. Thelma June Millican, age 75, of Lyerly, GA died Saturday, April 24, 2010 at her residence.

Mrs. Millican was born February 14, 1935 in Cloudland, GA, the daughter of the late James "Jim" and Florence Deering Johnson. She was a homemaker. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, George Johnson.

Survivors include her children, Mary Jo Blackmon, Margaret June Huskey, Deborah Renae Millican, Danny Ray Millican, Tommy Wayne Millican, Richard Scott Millican, Roger Dale Millican,Bobby Dewayne Millican and David Brian Millican; sisters, Agnes Farmer, Mary Youngblood, Gladys Bentley, Virginia Nichols, and Jan Black; brother, Albert Johnson; 17 Grandchildren; 14 Great-Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Lyerly Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sons and Grandsons.

Mrs. Millican will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Monday, April 26, 2010.

 

 

Charles William Mitchell obit

MR. CHARLES WILLIAM MITCHELL, age 78, of #56 Mitchell Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday (April 25, 2010) in a LaFayette nursing home. A native Chattoogaian He was born to the late William Jessie and Mabel Rebecca Norman Mitchell on January 31, 1932. Mr. Mitchell was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Tabernacle, retired from the Lab of Inland Container, a U.S. Navy Veteran of Korea, and a member of Chattooga Lodge #704 F & AM. He was preceded in death by his wife the late Maudie Lee Mitchell.

Surviving are daughter-Debbie K. Mitchell Whaley of Summerville; grandson-Donavon Whaley of Summerville; step children-Kenneth C. & Renita Tucker of Summerville and Shirley Ann Waters of Rome; step grandchildren-Kenneth Tucker, Adam Waters, Michelle Waters-Baty; great granddaughter-Kaitlyn Baty.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Walston officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Active Pallbearers-Donavon Whatley, Adam Waters, Kenneth C. Tucker, Kenneth N. Tucker, Donald Whatley, and Aaron Waters; Honorary Pallbearers Joe Cox, Sewell Cash, and the Staff of Shepherd-Hill Nursing Home. Visitation is Tuesday from 12 noon until the funeral hour. Flowers are accepted or contributions to the Alaheimer’s Association.

Christine Hawkins Fox obit

MRS. CHRISTINE HAWKINS FOX, age 62, of Hwy. #114-Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday afternoon at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Fox was born to the late Howard and Mae Johnnie Umphurs Hawkins on July 16, 1947. She was a member of Dry Valley Baptist Church and was retired from Oak View Nursing & Rehab. Center.

Surviving are daughter-& Son-in law Melissa and David Adams of Summerville; son-& daughter-in law  Todd and Kristy Fox of Cartersville, GA;  grandson- Justin and Casey Adams of Summerville, GA; granddaughters- Charleston and Annabeth Fox of Cartersville, GA; brother-Randy Hawkins of Summerville; Special care giver- Terry Lynn Ozment of Summerville, GA.

Funeral services wil be held Wednesday (April 29th) at 11:00 AM from the Dry Valley Baptist Church with Pastor Jimmy Weaver and Pastor Terry Shores officiating, interment in Greenhills Memory Garden.  Active Pallbearers- Lamar Pettyjohn, Barry Woods, Hoyt Ballinger, Sammy Tapp, Mike Woods, Steve Morrrison; Honorary Pallbearers will be Soloman’s Porch Sunday School Class of Dry Valley Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home Tuesday from 6-8pm.  at other hours the Family will be at the residence of the daughter Melissa & David Adams #2340 Hwy #144 Summerville, GA.

Kathryn Collins Obit

MRS. KATHRYN G. COLLINS, age 77, of Henagar, Alabama formerly of Summerville, passed away Thursday (April 22, 2010) morning at her residence. Born in Trion, Georgia on January 15, 1933, She was a daughter of the late John and Myrtle Holloway Hunter. Mrs. Collins was Church of God by Faith and retired from the preparation department of Mt. Vernon Mills. She was preceded in death by husband the late Alton Collins, sisters-the late Totsi Hunter, Lola Hunter, Mattie Priest Ledford, and Mataline Edgeworth Ledford brothers-the late Clint Ledford, Hydress Ledford, and John Hunter.

Surviving are daughter-Liz Hawkins of Henagar, Al.; sons-Donald Collins, Ronald Collins, Jimmy Collins all of Summerville, and Steve Collins of Gaylesville, Al.; sister-Carolyn Brown Hunter of Ider, Al.; brother-Gordon Hunter of Broometown, Al.; 23 Grandchildren, 38 Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday (April 24) at 3:00 p.m. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. John Mann officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be T. J. Hawkins, Jeremiah Hawkins, Joshua Collins, Andrew Collins, Mark Collins and Allen Collins. Honorary Pallbearers will be Nephews and members of West Berryton Faith Temple. Mrs. Mary Ruth Walker Stone, age 68, of Summerville, GA died Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Floyd Medical Center.

Mrs. Stone was born June 11, 1941 in Fort Payne, AL, the daughter of the late Clyde and Malinda Thompson Walker. She was a homemaker and a member of Fair Mount Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two children, Cynthia Hayes and Donnie Chadwick.

Survivors include her husband, Doug Stone; children, Randy Walker and Renae Daniel; brothers, Roy Walker and Cecil L. Walker; grandchildren, Amanda McCormack, Amy Hayes, Greg Daniel, April Daniel, Cortney Lowell, and Randy ( A. J.) Walker; and 7 Great Grandchildren.

Graveside and interment services will be held at 4:00 p. m. Friday, April 23, 2010 at Adamsburg Cemetery with Rev. Harold Helton officiating. Active pallbearers will be Matt Hayes, Mike McCormack, Greg Daniel, Wade Forrest, Tony Walker, and Larry Walker. MRS.  LUCILLE COOPER McCUTCHINS PARKER –

AGE 85, – Of Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, April 16, 2010 at Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  She was a member of the Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Eugene Parker, son, Mr. Freddie McCutchins, daughter, Mrs. Linda Wiggins, parents, Mr. Henry Cooper, and Mrs. Rosie Willie Mae Bush Cooper. Survivors are her loving children, Mrs. Viola (Louis) Ellis of Manor, Texas, mr. Johnny (Portia) McCutchins of Sidney, Ohio, Mr. Joe McCutchins, Mrs. Glenda Smith of Summerville, Georgia, Mrs. Ella (Billy) Hill, Jr of Austin, Texas, Mrs. Mae (Terry) Morris of Sidney, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Almetia Winston of Chattanooga, Tennessee; stepsister, Mrs. Irene Parker, daughter-in-law, Mrs. Penny McCutchins of Summerville; brother-in-law, Mr. Bobby Parker of Menlo, Georgia; eighteen grandchildren, forty-one great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends, the Knowles family, Hurley Family, Dooly Family, Gwen Williams, other relatives, and friends.

Mrs. Mattie Murphy Obit

Mrs. Mattie Murphy, age 70, of Gaylesville, AL, passed away Saturday April 17, 2010 in Dekalb Regional Medical Center, Ft. Payne, AL.

Mrs. Murphy was born in Rome, Georgia on August 2, 1939, daughter of the late Lonnie Leon Beard and Georgia Lee Parson Beard. She attended the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church #1 and was preceded her husband, Jerry Frank Murphy, and a grandson, Christopher Canada.

Mrs. Murphy is survived by a son, Gregory Murphy; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Tim Canada, Cindy and Danny Jackson, and Karol and Jamie Maples; a sister, Patsy Scott; grandchildren, Daniel Jackson, Kyle Canada, Matthew Jackson, Leslie Mobbs, Megan Robertson, Paige Murphy, Ethan Maples, and Chase Murphy; and 3 great grandchildren.

Funeral Service for Mrs. Murphy will be held Monday, April 19, 2010 at 12:00 Noon in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ronald Berry and Rev. Chris Hearne officiating. Interment will follow in the Berea Cemetery.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and the Ladies Sunday School Class is asked to serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mrs. Murphy will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 until 8 P.M.

 

Claude Seymore Obit

Mr. Claude Houston Seymore, age 86 of Lickskillet Road, Summerville passed away Sunday morning in Oakview Nursing and Rehab Center.  He was born October 18, 1923 in DeKalb County, Alabama son of the late Claude F. and Sarah Jane Shankles Seymore.  He was a veteran of the US Army having served during World War II.  He was the owner and operator of Seymore Chevron Service Station and a member of South Summerville Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by a brother Floyd Seymore and an infant sister.

Survivors include his wife: Mildred Beatrice Reynolds Seymore of Summerville; son and daughter in law: Richard Houston and Terri Seymore of Elijay, GA.; two grandsons: Richard Brandon Seymore , Lewisburg, PA.; Evan Frank Houston Seymore, Elijay; grandaughter and husband, Melinda and Justin Carder of Elijay; two great grandchildren: Katelynn and Kristen Carder of Elijay.  Also a special niece: Sarah Jane Henderson of Summerville and a special nephew: Greg Harrison, Pennivlle.  Sister: Mary Miller of Pennville and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday April 20, 2010 at 2 PM from the graveside at Greenhills Memory Gardens with Rev. Ken Johnson officiating.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers and food that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

MR. CLYDE W. HENDERSON, age 64, of Henderson Road-Trion, Georgia passed away Saturday (April 17, 2010) morning in a Rome hospital following a sudden attack. He was born in Trion, Georgia to the late Wallace and Elaine Fuqua Henderson on October 2, 1945. Mr. Henderson was a member of Trion First Baptist Church, member and Past Master of Chattooga Lodge #704 F & AM, and worked for WalMart at the LaFayette store.

Surviving are wife-Beverly Roberts Henderson; daughter and spouce-Missy and Tim Sterner of Jacksonville, Fl.; son and spouce-Kelly & Tine Henderson of Trion; grandchildren-Brooke Sterner, Brynn Sterner, Danielle Henderson, Elizabeth Henderson, & Matthew Henderson; step grandchildren-Josh and Autum Hampton.

Mr. Robert Howard Hines, age 59, of Trion, GA died Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Hines was born March 28, 1951 in Trion, GA, the son of the late Jesse and Maudie Davis Hines. He was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Hines and brothers, DougHines and Grady Hines.

Survivors include his wife, Christine Hines; sons and daughter-in-law, Robert Lee Jr. and Mary Kay Hines and Jimmy Lee Hines Burrage; sisters, Gaynell Thornton, Shirley Logan, and Carolyn Allen; step-grandchildren, Rebecca Kay Crowe and Charles Crowe.
