Miss. Frances Jean Rosser, age 79, of Summerville, GA, passed away Saturday February 13, 2010, in Oakview Nursing & Rehab Center. Miss. Rosser was born February 26, 1930, in Chattooga County Georgia, the daughter of the late George Lee and Bessie White Rosser. She was a member of the Belmont Baptist Church, and preceded in death by 3 sisters, Helen Satterfield, Annie Bishop, Rose Murdock, 4 brothers, Ballinger Rosser, Milton Rosser, John Henry Rosser, and Rev. Frank Rosser.

Survivors include a brother, Paul Rosser, Trion, GA, 3 sisters, Mrs. Ada Morgan, Gore, GA, Mrs. Josephine Baggett, Rome, GA, Mrs. Hilda Reynolds, Lyerly, GA, and several nieces and nephews also survive Miss. Frances Jean Rosser. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday February 16, 2010, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Bryant officiating with interment in the Little Sand Mountain Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Steve Rosser, Stan Rosser, James Rosser, David Reynolds, Ted Bridges, Ed Baggett.

Patricia Norton Obit

Miss. Patricia (Patti) Sue Norton, age 53, of Trion, GA, went home to be with her Lord on February 11, 2010. Miss Norton was born Jan. 30, 1957, in Chattooga County Georgia, the daughter of Eloise Thrasher Norton and the late Sidney F. Norton. She was a retired Counselor having worked with the Walker County correctional Institution. Mrs. Norton, she attended the Ridgeway Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her grandparents, Arthur Lee and Mattie Norton, Jim and Elmer Thrasher.

Survivors include her mother, Eloise Norton, Summerville, GA, brother, Sidney Scott Norton, Summerville, GA, sisters & brothers-in-law, Janie & Dewey Mann, Soddy Daisy, TN, Cathie & Dean Myers, Canton, GA, nieces, Natalie Faulkner, Alicia Klehm, great-nieces and nephews, Brylee Faulkner, Madison Klehm, Jackson Sidney Klehm.

Mr. Kenneth Willis Kendall, age 73, Summerville, GA, formally of Dalton, GA, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2010.

Mr. Kendall was born March 26, 1936, the son of the late H. W. and Ina Stover Kendall. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nema Kendall.

He is survived by his wife, Ida M. Kendall; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Ann Kendall, Kenneth E. and Emily Kendall; daughter and fiance, Julie Kendall and Ryan Fernandez; grandchildren, Nichole Kendall, Jamie Kendall, Beth Kendall, Jessie Lloyd and husband, Chip Lloyd; Breannon Noell, Dalton E. Kendall; great grandson, Tanner Lloyd; brother, Wylie Kendall; sister, Linda Jane Herber; and many Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Friday, February 12, 2010 at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Summey and Pastor Dean Tapp officiating. Gordon “Bo” Deering Obit

Mr. Gordon "Bo" Deering, JR, age 63, of Cloudland, GA died Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at his residence.

Mr. Deering was born May 16, 1946 in Walker County, GA, the son of Mary Ellen Green Deering and the late Gordon William Deering, SR. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Deering was formerly employed in construction. He was also a former dirt track race car driver.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Opal Deering, daughter and son-in-law, Christie and Matt Dooley; mother, Mary Ellen Deering; brother, Paul Deering; grandchildren, Kevin Dooley and Nathan Dooley; nephew, Dilan Deering, niece, Andria Deering.

Graveside and interment services will be held at 1:30 p. m. Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Cloudland Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Rev. Marlin Starnes and Rev. Jack Green will officiate. Active pallbearers will be Luke Rape, Joseph Rape, Bryan Aldridge, Jason Aldridge, Stacy Aldridge, and Anthany Holbrook. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff and nurses of Summerville Harbin Clinic Dialysis and Dr. Hailu Demissachew.

Mrs. Phyllis Coreen Hogg, age 76, of Menlo, GA died Monday, February 8, 2010 at Floyd Medical
Center.
Mrs. Hogg was born August 24, 1933 in Menlo, GA, the daughter of the late Ollie E. "Zeke" Gilley
and Jessie E. Willingham Gilley. She was retired from Best Manufacturing. Mrs. Hogg was a
member of the Church of Christ of Menlo. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by
her husband, Robert Kelley Hogg.
Mrs. Hogg is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Linda Dale Hogg and Fred Hunter, and
Tammy E. Hogg Haygood, all of Menlo, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Tim and
Patsy Hogg, Rome, GA and Marc Ladon and Pam Helms Hogg, Summerville, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Jo Anne "Dot" Gilley and Buster Cavin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Granville H "Bud" and Ann Gilley, and Billy Don and Sue Gilley; grandchildren, Kelly Haygood, Spencer Hogg, and Haley Saylors; sisters-in-law, Fannie Fowler, Louise Price and Jo Ann Mitchell.

MR. STANLEY MOORE (STAN) WILLINGHAM, age 51, of Fish Hatchery Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away unexpectedly Sunday (February 7, 2010).
A native Chattooga Countian He was born on September 19, 1958 to the late Babe Lee Willingham and Shirley Ann Moore Willingham who survives. Mr. Willingham was employed by Farmers’ Furniture and formerly the Packing Department of Mt. Vernon/Riegel Textile.

Surviving are daughters-Amber Dover and Melissa Milan both of Lyerly; son-Adam Willingham of Summerville; mother-Shirley Willingham of Summerville; sisters & brothers-in-law-Le Ann & Bobby Mitchell of Cartersville and Fran & Tom Jones of Forsyth; brother & sister-in-law-Britt & Jan Willingham of Summerville; grandchildren-Nathan & Braden Willingham, Dylan & Daniel Dover; Nieces & Nephews also survive.

Mrs. Lillie Pearl Cook, age 81, of Summerville, GA died Friday, February 5, 2010 at Redmond
Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Cook was born April 17, 1928, the daughter of the late Tom and Ollie Holt Brooks. She
was retired from Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Mills. Mrs. Cook was a member of Oakhill
United Methodist Church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,
Ken Cook; son, Stanley Cook; and a brother, Billy Brooks.
Survivors include grandchildren, Laura & Scott Kiger, Lyerly, GA and Chip Cook, Pigeon Forge,
TN; great grandsons, Rhett Kiger and Jagger Yancey; daughter-in-law, Kim Cook Bohannon;
sister-in-law, Ophelia Brooks; special friends, Leonard and Betty Smith and Florence League.

Mr. Kenneth Price

Mr. Kenneth Price, age 67, of Summerville, GA passed away suddenly at Redmond Regional Medical Center Monday, February 1, 2010. Born on Little Sand Mountain on March 12, 1942, he was the second son of the late Ernest and Irene Price. He was retired from the Land Resource Division of Berry College in Rome, GA. A lover of southern gospel music, he and his brothers sang as a quartet from early childhood. Survivors are his wife of 27 years, Sophia Barton Price; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ewell and Vivian Price, Lyerly, GA, Bill and Georgia Price, Summerville, GA, Bro. Benny and Barbara Price, Subligna, GA; sisters and brother-in-law, Margaret and J C Garlin, Adairsville, GA and Dean Parr, Rome, GA; sister-in-law, Alethea Davis; brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Nick and Angela Barton. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Three children, Lisa Ladd, Susan Klein, and Ladelle Price reside in Chattanooga, TN. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p. m. Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Benny Price officiating with interment to follow in the Little Sand Mountain Cemetery. Mr. John Allen “Razorback” Smith,Sr

Mr. John Allen "Razorback" Smith, Sr., age 64, of Cloudland, GA died Monday, February 1, 2010 at his residence.

Mr. Smith was born May 23, 1945 in Greenville, Ohio, the son Anna Opal Smith and the late Earnest Smith. He was retired from Dick Henson Construction. His cb handle was Razorback. Other than his father, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Susan Castaneda.

Survivors include his wife, Bettie Sue Smith; children, John Allen Smith, Cloudland, GA, Phillip Carl Murray, Atlanta, GA, Michelle Smith Singletary, Alabama; mother, Anna O. Smith, Nicevile, FL; sisters, Linda Susan Ledbetter, Niceville, FL, Anita Rose Fernandez, NC; 6 Grandchildren; and 2 Great Grandchildren.

Mr. Smith will be cremated and private memorial services will be held at a later date.

 

Mrs. Gerald “Jewell” Pauline McCollum

Mrs. Gerald "Jewell" Pauline McCollum, age 77, of Summerville, GA died Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. McCollum was born June 18, 1932 in Summerville, GA the daughter of the late Paul Copeland and Ola Bartlett Copeland. She was retired from Bigelow Sanford Carpet Mills. Mrs. McCollum was a member of Four Mile Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kelly Floyd McCollum.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Dale & Sandi McCollum and Dan & Ruth McCollum, all of Rome, GA; grandchildren, Amy McCollum, Jamie McCollum, Kelli McCollum, and Kerri Chapman; great-grandchildren, Jenna McCollum, Nadine, Layla, & Gemma Abdulwahab; sisters Bonnie Tucker and Maggie Thomas.
