Dandee Denson Obit

Dandee Denson, age 38 of Denson Road in Summerville passed away Saturday morning, January 16, 2010 at Floyd Medical Center.  He was born April 30, 1971 in Floyd County, GA, son of Wayne "Pete" Denson and Sara Denson.  Dandee was a member of New Antioch Baptist Church, honorary member of the Chattooga Shrine Club, Honorary member of the Yaarab Shrine Temple of Atlanta and Distinguished Recipient of the Green Fez of Shrine of North America.

Survivors include his parents, Pete and Sara Denson a sister Debbie Denson Stowe and 2 nieces – Meagan and Courtney Stowe of Summerville.  Specail care giver – Sheila Gentry and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins survive.

Funeral Services will be conducted Monday January 18, 2010 at 1 PM from New Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Harold Helton, Mr Jack Brown and his niece, Courtney Stowe officiating.  Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery.

Pallbearers are requested to meet at Erwin – Petitt Funeral Home at 12 noon on Monday and include the following: Steve Osby, Gordon Allen, Kevin Martin, Derek Eckroat, Willie Wilbanks, James Hughes and Charles Crawford and Richard Craig.  Honorary Pallbearers will be all Shriners.

Dandee will lie in state at the Funeral Home on Sunday evening January 17th, 2010 where the family will receive friends from 5 until 9 PM.  At other hours the family will be at the residence at 731 Denson Road in Summerville.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Chattooga Shrine Telethon in memory of Dandee or New Antioch Baptist Church Building Fund.

David Earl Hunter Obit

 Mr. David Earl Hunter, age 64, of Summerville, GA died Thursday, January 14, 2010 at his residence.

Mr. Hunter was born January 9, 1946 in Chattooga County, GA, the son of Horace Hunter and the late Grace Hix Hunter. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Vietnam. Mr. Hunter had worked as a correctional officer at the Black Bluff Correctional Institution, as a supervisor at Golden Gallon, and at Caron Yarn Mill in LaFayette, GA.

Survivors include his wife, Lola Hunter; father, Horace Hunter; stepchildren, Danny & Nancy Bain and Eugenia & James Hall; sister, Linda Faye Henderson; brothers, Charles Wayne Hunter and Larry James Hunter; step-grandchildren; Danny Bain, Joshua Bain, Shawn Hall, Levi Hall.

Mr. Hunter will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Friday, January 15, 2010. Mr. Hunter will be cremated.

Gamble Obit

Mrs. Ida Cathleen "Cathy" Hughes Gamble, age 51, of Trion, GA died Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Gamble was born December 15, 1958 in Trion, GA, the daughter of Glenn E. Hughes and Jo Ann McGraw Hughes. She had worked as a CNA with Delta Health Care. Mrs. Gamble was preceded in death by her grandparents, Frank McGraw, Lula McGraw, John T. "J T" Hughes, Jr., and Lorene Moseley Hughes.

Survivors include her son, Ethan Cole Gamble, LaGrange, GA; mother, Jo Ann Hughes, Summerville, GA; father and step-mother, Glenn and Gail Hughes, Gaylesville, AL; fiance, David Kinsey; sisters, Cynthia Kellett and Charleen Hughes, both of Summerville, GA; April Lorene Hughes, Gaylesville, AL; brother, Christopher Ervin Hughes, Calhoun, GA; step-brother, David Spears,Menlo, GA; father of her son, Robert Gamble; special friend, Debbie Bryant.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m . Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Andy Hutchins and Bro. Bill Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Garden. Active pallbearers will be Seth Hughes, Joseph Kellett, Dwayne Muse, Doug Davis, Rodney Kinsey, and David Spears. Honorary pallbearers will be Friends and Extended Family.

Mr. Millard S. Rutherford

Mr. Millard Stephens Rutherford, age 87, of Hilltop Drive, Summerville, GA passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Oakview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.  Mr. Rutherford was born September 19, 1922 in Chattooga County GA.  He was retired from Jackson Chevrolet and was a member of Summerville First Baptist Church.Mr. Rutherford was preceded in death by his father and mother, Walter Glenn Rutherford and Lena Stephens Rutherford.Survivors are his wife, Geraldine Kellett Rutherford of Summerville, GA and his daughter and son-in-law, Pat and James Evans of Summerville, GA.Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 14, 2010 from the chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Dr. Kenneth Summey officiating.  A private family interment will follow in Summerville Cemetery.Mr. Rutherford will lie-in-state Thursday, January 14, 2010 at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 12noon until 2pm.The following gentlemen have been asked to be pallbearers and need to assemble at the funeral home on Thursday by 1:30pm:  Sidney Lanier, Mike Lanier, Tony Jones, Harmon Petitt, Dale Martin and Ken Johnson.The family requests no food.  At other hours, the family will be at the residence of the daughter, Pat Evans, 280 Walnut Avenue, Summerville, GA.Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements for Mr. Millard Stephens Rutherford, who passed away on Tuesday. 

Robbie Greenwood Camp

Mrs. Robbie Greenwood Camp, age 89 of Park Ave., Trion, GA passed away Friday, January 08,2010 in Redmond Regional Medical Center.  Mrs. Camp was born in Trion, GA on July 15, 1920. She was retired from Security Finance and was a member of Trion First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Camp was preceded in death by her husband, Furman"Fat" Camp, and her father and mother, Robert Emmett and Cordie Cannon Greenwood.

Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Michael and Donna Camp of Chickamauga, GA and Rick L. Camp of Rydal, GA; one brother, J.W. Greenwood of Trion, GA; 4 Grandchildren and 4 Great- Children; serveral nieces and nephews also survived.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 11, 2010 at 11:00am from the chapel of the Erwin-Petit Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Woods officiating, with an Eulogy given by Rick L. Camp.

Mrs. Camp will lie-in-state, Sunday, January 10, 2010 at the Erwin-Petit Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 1:00 to 4:00pm

The following gentlemen have been asked to be Pallbearers and they are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 10:30am on Monday: Ross Camp, Mickey Camp, Robin Greenwood, Steve Lanier, Butch Camp, and Randy Evans.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Mrs. Camp’s Sunday School Class of the Trion First Baptist Church and Mr. Benny Perry.

Charles Lee Ware Obit

Mr. Charles Lee Ware, age 57, of Trenton, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2010 at the Dade Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Ware was born in Trion, Georgia on February 25, 1952, son of the late Charlie Martin Ware and Essie Mae Vernon Ware. He attended the Welcome Hill Baptist Church and was an avid music fan. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ware was preceded in death by a sister, Vickie Dianne Ware.

Mr. Ware is survived by his step-mother, Clara Ware of Trion; Step-father, Budgie Martin of Trion; Nephews, Adam (Lynn) Gorham of Summerville and Chad (Brandy) Campbell of Armuchee; 2 great nephews and 3 great nieces.

Funeral Services for Mr. Ware will be held Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 3:30 P.M. in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Shores officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Ware, David Meadows, Larry Wells, Phil Meadows, Jeff Meadows and Michael Gilreath. Honorary Pallbearers will be Cousins and Amy Pittman and the Staff of Dade Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Dorothy Nell Pettyjohn

Mrs. Dorothy Nell Pettyjohn, age 67, of LaFayette, GA passed away Saturday, January 9, 2010 at the residence of a daughter in Chatsworth.

Mrs. Pettyjohn was born in Chattooga County, Georgia on June 7, 1942, daughter of the late Wade Allen Evans and Sara Evelyn Allmond Evans. She was a member of the Old Path Baptist Church of Summerville and prior to retirement, had worked at World Carpet, Alladin Mills and was a CNA at Quinton and Wood Dale Nursing Center. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pettyjohn was preceded in death by her husband Marion Ray Pettyjohn: daughter, Patsy Yvonne Hanson; brothers, Claude Simpson Evans, Roy Lee Evans; and sisters, Hattie Lee Elsberry and Annie Ruth Ramey.

Mrs. Pettyjohn is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, John Wallace and Tracy Hanson, Ronald Vincent and Shauna Hanson of LaFayette and Edward Ray and Debra Pettyjohn of Rocky Face; daughters and sons-in-law, Clara Darlene and Shunell Towns of Chatsworth, Anna Marie and Wilburn Thomason of Tunnel Hill, and Rhonda Faye Pendergrass of Chatsworth; brother and sister-in-law, William David and Regina Evans of Summerville; sister and brother-in-law, Sara and Russell Woodall of Summerville; 20 grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Pettyjohn will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Hindman officiating. Interment will follow in the Subligna Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be John Hanson, Rhonda Pendergrass, Edward Pettyjohn, Wade Hanson, Clara Towns and Andrew Thomason. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tim Pettyjohn, Eric Pettyjohn, Johnathan Hanson, Trey Hunt, Shunell Towns, Jr., Joseph Bearden and William Hanson.

Mrs. Pettyjohn will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 P.M.

Mrs. Esma G. Ramirez

Mrs. Esma Gertrude Ramirez, age 87, of HARRELL Street, Trion, GA passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.  Mrs. Ramirez was born July 25, 1922 in Cherokee County, AL.  She was a housewife and Baptist by faith.Mrs. Ramirez was preceded in death by her husband, Lino Redondo Ramirez, Jr.; her father and mother, Wallace Frank Thomas, Sr. and Jessie Durham Thomas; sisters, Marie Morgan Hasty and Ann Hammonds; granddaughter, Emily Thornton and niece, Kathy Trammell.Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Deborah Ramirez, Sr. of Menlo, GA; daughters and son-in-law, Yolanda and William Spurlock of Trion, GA and Angela Ramirez of LaFayette, GA; brothers, Durham Thomas of Trion, GA and Wallace Thomas of LaFayette, GA; sister, Griselda Trammell of Trion, GA; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral services will be conducted Friday, January 8, 2010, at 1pm from the chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Mrs. Jacqueline Adams

Mrs. Jacqueline Adams, age 59, of Summerville, GA passed away Sunday, January 3, 2010 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Adams was born November 28, 1950 in Chattooga County, GA, the daughter of Gilford and Eleanor Stamper. She worked at Riegel Textile Mills for 7 years, then at ITT Lester for 22 years. She was a member of the New Spirit and Truth Church where she served as an usher. Mrs. Adams graduated from Chattooga High School in 1969. She later married Emory Nathan Adams in September of 1970. They had two children, Emory Bryant, Jr. and wife, Josain Adams; and Natasha Renee Adams. Other survivors incude two grandchildren, Jordan Adams and Zoe Adams; sisters and brothers-in-law, Gwen and Freddie Christopher, Peggy Evans, and Charlotte and John Lewis Allen.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Thursday, January 7, 2010 at the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Bishop V T Harden officiating. Burial will follow on Friday at 11:00 a. m in the Chattanooga National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Glenn Williams, Joe Owens, Joseph Owens, Lanny Farmer, and Marciaus Thompson.
