Mrs. Betty J. Crane Stowe

Mrs. Betty Jean Crane Stowe, age 73 of Ringgold, GA passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at her residence. Mrs. Stowe was born in Jamestown, AL on June 28, 1936, daughter of the late Arthur Crane and Flora Hestor Crane. She was a member of the New Hope Pentecostal Church and was a homemaker.

 Mrs. Stowe was preceded in death by her husband, Frank “Bud” Stowe. Mrs. Stowe is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Debbie Stowe of Calhoun; daughters and sons-in-law. Rita and Larry Pickard and Lecia and Red Bethune of LaFayette, Donna and Bob Bellomy of Graysville, and Tina Smolik of Ringgold; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

 Funeral Services for Mrs. Stowe will be held Friday, September 18, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Morrison officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Trion Cemetery.

 Pallbearers will be Robert Bellomy, Michael Bethune, Randall Stowe, Chris Stowe, Jeremy Pickard and Joshua Pickard.

Mrs. Dana Kay Hatcher

Mrs. Dana Kay Hatcher, age 50, of Trion, GA died Friday, September 4, 2009 at her residence.Mrs. Hatcher was born October 17, 1958 in Hamilton County, TN, the daughter of Marlin

Staton Russell and the late Betty June Tumlin. She was a homemaker.

 Survivors include her husband, Kenny L. Hatcher, son, John R. "Trey" Parrish, III; brothers,Kyle Russell, Kevin Russell; sisters and brother-in-law, Nelta Smith, Lana & Randy Visage;

and several Nieces and Nephews.

 Graveside and interment services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Saturday, September 12, 2009 at

Walnut Grove Cemetery with Rev. J. L. Sharpe officiating.

Mrs. Lorena Smith Keith

Mary Lorena Smith Keith, age 91, a long-time resident of the Pennville Community in Summerville, G passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2009, at Shepherd Hill Nursing Home.

She was born in Catoosa County GA, September 30, 1917 daughter of the late Charles Calvin Smith and Laura Dailcy Smith.  She also the adopted daughter of the late George and Leah Dietz Smith.  She was a member of the Pennville Missionary and Alliance Church. 

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Phillip Keith; one brother, George Dailcy Smith and two sisters, Ruth Smith Keith and Velma Smith Davis.Mrs. Davis is survived by one son, Rev. Charles Edwin Keith (Elsie) of LaFayette, GA; one daughter, Carolyn Williams (Jimmie) of Summerville, GA; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Rachel Gregory of Signal Mountain, TN; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 11am, from the chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Chaplain Mark Atwood officiating.  Interment will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens.Mrs. Keith will lie-in-state, Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friend from 6 to 8pm.

Mr. Joseph H. Schilling, age 67, of 50 Saratoga Way, Summerville, GA, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at his residence following an extended illness.

Surviving are his wife, Becky Schilling; brothers, Mike Schilling of Wisconsin and Ed Schilling of North Carolina; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 10am from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Shores and Cecil Watkins officiating.  Interment in Summerville Cemetery.  Active pallbearers are:  Justin Blackmon, Stacy Reynolds, Josh Key, Chris Key, Scott Palmer and Barry Padgett.  Honorary pallbearers:  Heyman Hospice.

Mrs. Jessie Lorella Warren

Mrs. Jessie Lorella Warren, age 72, of Summerville, passed away Monday, September 7, 2009 at her residence. Mrs. Warren was born in Trion, Georgia on October 16, 1936, daughter of the late Richard Clifford Harris, Sr. and Ella Jane Bugg Harris. She was a member of the Life Gate Church in LaFayette and was retired from Riegel, where she operated the spinning frame. 

Mrs. Warren was preceded in death by her husband, Ike Curtis Warren and a grandson, Marcus Rench.Mrs. Warren is survived by a son, Jeffery DeWayne Warren of Summerville; daughters and Sons-in-law, Sheila and Mike Rench of Armuchee and Teresa and Jimmy Hughes of Trion; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Annie Ruth Sweatman Obit

Mrs. Annie Ruth Sweatman, age 83, of Summerville, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2009 at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Sweatman was born in Chattooga County, GA on September 4, 1926, daughter of the late Glenn Elsberry and Anna Belle Kellett Elsberry. She was a member of the Fisher’s Chapel United Methodist Church and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Sweatman was preceded in death by her husband, James Ed Sweatman, and a son, Nick Sweatman. Mrs. Sweatman is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Leroy “Bud” and Sharon Sweatman; a daughter-in-law, Pat Sweatman; Brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Peggy Elsberry and Ed and Barbara Elsberry; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sarah and Harold Duke and Naomi Faye and Billy Ramsey; Grandchildren, Tracy (Darryl) Crider, Dee (Jay) Shedd, Michele (Brit) Copeland, Samantha (Joe) Stephens and Leah (Steven) McCullough; and Great Grandchildren, Jesse Crider, Jasmine Crider, Eston Burdick, Devin Burdick, Tabitha Burdick, Braden Shedd, Mason Shedd, Nick Copeland, Noah Copeland, Landon Stephens and Evan Stephens.

Mrs. Shirley Ann Smith Rabdeau, age 60, of Menlo, GA, passed away Sunday September 6, 2009, at her residence.

Mrs. Rabdeau was born August 21, 1949, in Chattooga County, daughter of the late Albert Wiley and Maggie Lou Brown Smith. She was a member of the New Hope North Baptist Church, member of the Best Silver Club, and was employed with Best Manufacturing. Mrs. Rabdeau was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn D. Rabdeau, brother, Billy David Smith, and sister, Janice Smith.

Survivors include a step-son, Steven Glenn, Michigan; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wiley & Marsha Smith,Boaz, AL, George & Mary Sue Smith, Teloga, Ga, Albert & Shirley Smith, Jr., Alpine, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lula Gentry, Dry Valley, GA, Inez & Tiny Brown, Leona Prince, Minnie Smith, Betty & Kelly Wentz, Beth & Jack Wentz, Menlo, GA, Carolyn & Hoyt Hanks, Farill, AL; and a number of nieces and nephews .

Ray Perkins Obit

Ray Littleton Perkins, Jr. age 88, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2009 in Rome, Ga.  He was born February 26, 1921 in Floyd Co., Ga. son of the late Ray Littleton Sr. and Nora Busby Perkins.  He served in the US Marine Corps.  He was a former employee of Burgess Used Cars and was a Baptist by faith.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Denton Perkins; son, Johnny Ray Perkins, grandson, Matt Perkins, and son-in-law, Kenny Shelton.

Survivors include two daughters: Rose Marie Shelton and Jeannie Leyva both of Summerville; three grandsons: Christopher Shelton, Dalonega, Ga., Bryan Shaw, California, and Kevin Leyva, Summerville; granddaughter, Valeri Leyva of Summerville; four great-grandchildren also survive. 

Graveside and interment services will be conducted Monday, September 7, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from Trinity Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Mr. Perkins will lie-in-state on Monday, September 7, 2009 where the family will receive friends from noon until 1:30 p.m. at Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home.

MISS SHEILA ANN YATES, age 65, of Trion, Georgia, Welcome Hill Community, passed away Friday (September 4, 2009) in the local nursing home. A lifetime resident of Chattooga County, Georgia, She was born to the late Benjamin C. and Thelma Arwood Yates on October 8, 1943. She was a member of the Welcome Hill Baptist Church.

Surviving are sister; Mabel Simpson of Sugar Hill, Georgia; brother, George Yates of Trion; several Nieces and Nephews; dear friend, Jessie Hill of Summerville.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Earle Rainwater Funeral Home.

Mrs. Joyce Lovingood

MRS. JOYCE H. LOVINGOOD, age 80, of East Washington Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday morning in a Rome hospital. A native of Chattooga County, Georgia, she was born to the late Thurman David and Marlene Payne Barrett on March 3, 1929. Mrs. Lovingood was retired Medical Lab Technician and a member of the Summerville First Baptist Church and the Dorcas Sunday School Class of the Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, the late Lee Gene McKinzie and the late Dr. Berlon Lovingood.

Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Gena & John S. Groover of Summerville and Vicki & Mike McCorsley of Carrollton; son and daughter-in-law, David & Ilene McKenzie of Trenton, N.J.; grandchildren, April & Kevin Bond, Amber and Jerry Skelton, Jr., Lisa & Scott Thurston, Kim Sincoskie, Jon & Amanda McCorsley, Josh & Cindy McCorsley;  five great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:30 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Active Pallbearers: Steve Goodridge, Jerry Skelton, Jr., Josh McCorsley, Jon McCorsley, Kevin Bond and Billy Dean Quinton.  Honorary Pallbearers:  the Dorcas Sunday School Class of Summerville First Baptist Church.
