Mr. John Burton “Bert” Crain, Jr., age 85, of Menlo, GA, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2009 at his residence.Mr. Crain was born May 15, 1924, in Walker County, GA, the son of the late John Burton, Sr. and Ella Hill Crain. Mr. Crain was a member of the First Baptist Church of Menlo. He was retired from the City of Menlo Water Department. Mrs. Crain was a veteran of WWII, having served in the US Navy. He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Allen Crain, April 15, 2009; 2 sisters, Juanita Bailey and Inez Sudduth; 5 half-brothers and 4 half-sisters.Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Ed Hammitt, Summerville, GA; a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Terri Crain, Gaylesville, AL; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Crain, Menlo, GA; grandchildren, Chera Allison, Holly Ivester, Tracy Payton, Rhonda Blalock, Kevin Crain and Benay Pearsey; 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.Graveside services will be held at 11am Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Alpine Cemetery with Rev. Gary Howell officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion Shanklin-Attaway Post #5. Mrs. Sallie Beth Dawson, age 81, of Summerville, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Hutcheson Medical Center.

Mr. Orbarn R. "Pee Wee" Goodridge, age 83, of Summerville, GA died Sunday, July 12, 2009 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. Mr. Goodridge was born June 23, 1926 in Cherokee County, AL, the son of the late Samuel Goodridge and Mary Hampton Goodridge. He was retired from Karastan-Bigelow.
Mr. Goodridge was preceded in death by his wife, Oneida Bailey Goodridge; son, Daniel R. Goodridge; brothers, James Goodridge and Bill Goodridge; sister, Rubel Goodridge. Survivors include a son, Steve Goodridge; daughter, Glenda Bennett; daughter and son-in- law, Shelia and Bobby Nixon; brother, Bobby Goodridge; sisters, Vera Alexander, Sue Tucker, and Lovinia Langston; 8 Grandchildren; 9 Great Grandchildren; special friend, Helen Conaway.

Mrs. Robinson was born May 20, 1959 the daughter of Ethel Ledbetter Loggins Pledger and the late Melvin Loggins. She was a member of the New Covenant Tabernacle. Mrs. Robinson was employed with Unique Fabricating South. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Heather Loggins.
Survivors include her husband, Daniel Robinson; children, Richard Bailey, III, Sabrina and Yancey Robinson, and Sheena Robinson; mother and step-father, Ethel and Clifford Pledger; sister and brother-n-law, Donna and Eddie Shireman; grandchildren, Meghan Campbell, Morgan Campbell, Rylan Robinson, Tiffany Robinson, and Cadence Robinson.

Mrs. Jackson was born in Chattooga County, Georgia on January 15, 1957, daughter of the late Amos Carlton Jackson, Sr. and Vinnia Elizabeth Huggins Jackson. She was employed with American Glove as a machine operator and was preceded in death by a grandson, Colby Dale Miller.

Mrs. Carson was born in DeKalb County, Alabama on September 10, 1920, daughter of the late Buford Aaron and Nora Hasten Aaron. She was a member of the Dry Valley Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Earlie Hubbard Carson, son Donnie Ray Carson; brother, Vernon Aaron; sisters, Imogene Little, Nell Blevins, Mary Ruth Dolberry and Ann Henderson.
Mrs. Carson is survived by Sons and Daughters-in-law, Mackie and Carol Carson, Billy Joe and Debbie Carson; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Gerry Mills; sister, Christine Carver; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren.

Mr. Jackie Marshall Phillips, age 65 of Gaylesville, AL., passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Emory University Hospital.
Mr. Phillips was born in Doraville, Georgia on March 9, 1944, son of the late Albert Marshall Phillips and Rena Hester Phillips. He was a member of the Chesterfield Baptist Church and prior to retirement, was employed with Sears as a Fork Lift Operator.
Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his wife, Terri Logue Phillips. Mr. Phillips is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Stacy and Greg Franklin of Lawrenceville, GA and Joy Phillips of Toccoa, GA; Special Friend, Darlene Hudson, Gaylesville; brothers, Glen Phillips of Cumming, GA and Henry Philips of Lakeland, FL; sister, Peggy Niblett of Cumming, GA; and 2 grandchildren, Dez Franklin and Danielle Hightower.

Mr. Donald Ferrell Evans, age 66, of Summerville, GA died Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Evans was born December 24, 1942, the son of the late Albert Lee Evans and Ina Mae Dillard Evans. He was retired from Inland Containers. Mr. Evans was a member of Pennville Baptist Church and was a veteran of the United States Army. Other than his parents, Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his wife, Lisa Diane Jones Evans.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Bryan and Michelle Evans and Milton Douglas and Cindy Evans; brothers, Bobby Evans, Buddy Evans, and Joe Evans; grandchildren, Heather Ritchie, Casey Evans, Brandon Evans, Rhonda Anderson, Brittanie Evans, Cody Evans, and Chasity Evans; great-grandchild, Claire Ritchie; friend, Rodney Kinsey, and a number of Nieces and Nephews.
