Mr. Danny Tyler Corn, age 14, of Lyerly, GA died Saturday, November 7, 2009 from injuries received in a four-wheeler accident. Tyler was born December 30, 1994 in Rome, GA. He was an 8th grade student at Lyerly School. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Johnny and Mary Landrum. Survivors include his parents, James & Judy Blalock; brother, Gary Crouch; sister, Ashley Corn; grandparents, Buddy & Lula Blalock and Buddy and Frances Corn; uncles, Tony Blalock, Johnny Landrum; aunts, Connie Malloy and Mary Ojala. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. J. B. McNeil officiating. Mr. S. Harris Caldwell, Jr., age 71, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Saturday afternoon at his residence. A native of Cedartown, Georgia, he was born to the late S. Harris Caldwell Sr. and Inrene Long Caldwell on April 9, 1938. Mr. Cardwell operated the former Lowry’s Department Store for seventeen years, First Federal Savings and Loan, and was a certified public accountan until retirement. He was preceeded in death by wife the late Jane Lowry Caldwell on July 11, 1993.

Surviving are two daughters and spouses – Kim and John Dillon of Huntsville, AL and Karen and Eddie Pitman of Villa Rica; son and spouse- Reed and Jennifer Caldwell of Lilburn; grandchildren- Joshua Dillon, Ashley Dillon, Casey Pittman, Stephanie Pittman, Connor Caldwell and Ethan Caldwell; niece – Angela Marshall.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 9th, at 1:30pm from the Summerville First United Methodist Church with Rev. David Hicks officiating. Interment in Summerville Cemetary. Mrs. Janie Scoggin Wilson, age 87, of 799 Little Egypt Road, Summerville, GA, died Wednesday evening, November 4, 2009 at a local hospital.

A native of Chattooga County, Mrs. Wilson was born on March 10, 1922, the daughter of the late John L and Janie Mae Morgan Scoggin.  She was a member of the Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church and the Bessie Myrick Sunday School Class.  Mrs. Scoggin was a retired secretary and was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Bill Shaw in 2008.  Mrs. Wilson was married on December 14, 1941 to Ernest Franklin Wilson who preceded her in death in 1974.

Survivors included 2 daughters:  Johnnie Shaw of Summerville and Wanda Barnett of Mobile, Alabama; 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Janie Scoggin Wilson will be held this Friday afternoon, (November 6), at 2pm at the Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church with the Rev. Mac McCurry and the Rev. Clyde Hampton officiating.  Interment will follow in the following lot of Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Wilson will lie-in-state at the church Friday from 12noon until 2pm.  The family will receive friends at the church from 12noon until 2pm.

Mrs. Helen Louise Hawkins 79 of 4th Avenue Summerville passed away Friday October 30th at her residence, she was born August 5th, 1930 in Chattooga County and was retired from Barwick Industries and was a Church of God by faith..She was preceded in death by her husband, J.L. Hawkins, father and mother John Bascomb and Agnes Teems Padgett and a brother Johnny Ray Padgett.  Mrs. Hawkins is survived by her sisters, Arrie M. Black of Summerville, Yvonne Wigley of Trion and Teresa Knowles of LaFayette, and several neices and nephews also survive.  Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2PM from the chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. MRS. DOROTHY SLATER (DOT) GILLEY, age 80, of Penn Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday (November 1, 2009) morning at Her residence. A native of Whiton, Alabama, She was born to the late Hubert Milford and Nancy Elizabeth Mayfield Slater on May 9, 1929. Mrs. Gilley was a member of the Summerville First United Methodist Church, retired from B B & T Bank after 32 years of service, and was preceded in death by her husband the late Clarence Gorman Gilley on June 10, 1998.

Surviving are daughter-Carol Smith of Versailles, KY.; son-Jeff Gilley of Menlo; and sisters-Madge Fox of Menlo and Margaret Elrod of Arab, AL.; five Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Third Class Pettyofficer/E4 Timothy Shane Woody, age 31, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday evening in a Rome hospital following an extended illness. He was born in Rome, Georgia on October 12, 1978.

Surviving are His wife Jessica Hefner Woody; 3 sons-Aaron Levi Woody, Matthew Dylan Woody, and Hager Ross Woody all of Summerville; mother-Joyce Woody Spivey of East Ridge, Tn. ; father-William Charles Hamilton of Summerville; sister-Brittany Elaine Miranda of Nebraska; several Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.

Mr. Steve Preston "Peabody" White, age 56,of Summerville, GA died Thursday, October 29, 2009 from injuries received in an automobile accident. Mr. White was born August 28, 1953, the son of Charles White and the late Evelyn Rodgers White. He was a self employed dry wall installer. Mr. White is survived by his daughter, Kasey White; father and step mother, Charles and Mary Jo White; brothers, Noland White, Dale White, Lowell White, and Roger White; grandchildren, Alex Navarro, Niko Navarro, and Omar Perez; step-brother, Phillip Kirby; step sisters, Phyllis Elrod, Mary Nell Fowler, and Sandy Ball. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday November 2, 2009 from the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Mr. Fred L. Bloodworth, Sr., age 81, of Holland, Michigan, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2009 in Holland, Michigan, in Holland Hospital.  Mr. Bloodworth was a veteran of the United States Marines and the United States Navy, having served in the Korean War.  He was a lifetime member of the VFW 2144 and a member of the Moose Lodge on South River in Holland, Michigan.

Survivors are his children, Fred Bloodworth, Jr., of Holland, MI, Tom Bloodworth of Jenison, MI, Mary and Rich Adloff of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Linda, Fred III, Josh, Steve, Michael and Jennifer; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Monday, November 2, 2009 at 3pm from the West Hill Cemetery.Visitation will be held Monday, November 2nd at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 2 until 3pm.
