James Lively Obit

Mr. James Lively, age 79, of Summerville, Ga, passed away Saturday June 20, 2009, in Redmond Regional Medical Center. Mr. Lively was born June 12, 1930, in Chattooga County Georgia, the son of the late Lother James and Mary Lou Owens Lively. He was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills and was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean Conflict. Survivors include Daughter and Son-in-law, Glenda and Lebron Young, Trion, GA, Sons and Daughter-in-law, Carlton Lively, Nashville, TN, Ben and Dianne Lively, Summerville, GA, Grandchildren, Amber & Jeremey Lightsay, R.J. & Heather Young, Tonya & Adam Hogue, Tabitha Lively, Tristan Lively, 2 Great-grandchildren, Logan & Chloe Young.

Funeral will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday June 23, 2009, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Gary Howell officiating with interment in the Old Trion Cemetery. William (Bill) Wilson

Mr. William H. (Bill) Wilson, age 88, of Bryant Road, Summerville, GA, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday. June 17, 2009.  A native of Walker County Georgia, he was born to the late William Carl and Myrtle Mae Purtain Wilson on January 2, 1921.  Mr. Wilson was a member of the Summerville First United Methodist Church, a career veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II and Korea.  He was a retired civil service in the U.S. Department of Agriculture.  He was a member of Chattooga Lodge #704 F & AM and the NAFR, Rome Chapter.  He was preceded in death by siblings, the late Fannie Mae Lacy and the late Curtis Wilson and the late John Henry Wilson.Surviving are his wife, Odessa B. Lacy Wilson; sons & daughters-in-law, W. A. & Claudia Ann Wilson of Acworth and Thomas Harold & Jean McClain Wilson of Roswell; grandchildren, Nicole Kathleen Wilson, Thomas Andrew Wilson and Jennifer Leigh Wilson; brother, James Wilson of Panama City Beach, FL; several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be Saturday, June 20, at 11am from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Mrs. Rebecca Hankins

Mrs. Rebecca Hankins, age 85, of 1011 Ponders Lane, Dalton, GA, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2009, in Hamilton Medical Center.  Mrs. Hankins was born July 14, 1923, in Valdosta, GA.  She was a homemaker and a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church.Mrs. Hankins was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Hankins; sons, Ricky Hankins and Malloy Hankins; brothers, Joe Wilson, John Wilson and Sylvester Wilson.Survivors are her sons and daughters-in-laws, Charles and Mary Ellen Hankins of Varnell, GA, and Carlton and Joyce Hankins of Ft. Pierce, FL; her daughters, Frances Smith of Rocky Face, GA and Annie Lee Mathis of Dalton, GA; several grandchildren and nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 19, 2009, at 11am from the chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Mrs. Thelma Yvonne Hammitt, age 69, of Summerville, passed away Friday, June 12, 2009 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.

Mrs. Hammitt was born in Chattooga County, GA on March 12, 1940, daughter of the late James Willie Walker and Gladys Elizabeth Ward Walker. She was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and prior to retirement, was employed with Best Manufacturing.

Mrs. Hammitt was preceded in death by her husband, James Ernest “Hambones” Hammitt. Mrs. Hammitt is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and David Ransom of Summerville; son, Stan Hammitt of Summerville; Sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathy Walker and Tommy Beech and Mildred “Sissy” and Cotton McGraw of Summerville; her “Babies”, Benji and Happy Hammitt; grandchildren, Kevin and LeAnn Hammitt and Emily Hammitt; great grandchild, Lily Hammitt; Very Special Friend, Emma Lou Pullen; Friend, Linda Smith; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Evelyn Busby, age 74, of Summerville, GA died Sunday, June 14, 2009 at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Busby was born January 11, 1935 in Summerville, GA, the daughter of the late Albert Carpenter and Thelma Keen Carpenter. She was retired from Mohawk Industries. Mrs. Busby was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Wallace Busby.

Mrs. Busby is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie & James Carroll of Summerville, GA; a son and daughter-in-law, Debo and Mary Busby of Lyerly, GA; a sister, Clara Mae Brown of Trion, GA; 3 Grandchildren; and 2 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Oscar Stapp and Rev. Doyle Waters officiating. Burial will follow in Summerville Cemetery. William David “Bill” Ingle Obit

Mr. William David “Bill” Ingle, age 69, of Summerville, passed away Friday, June 12, 2009 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Ingle was born in Jamestown, Alabama on February 18, 1940, son of the late John Wesley Ingle and Rosa Beatrice Reynolds Ingle. He was of the Baptist Faith and prior to retirement, was employed with Riegel Textile Mill as a Machinist. Mr. Ingle was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Ingle Petitt; a granddaughter, Holly Elizabeth Petitt; sisters, Gertrude Maples and Bertha Mitchell; brothers, T.J. Ingle, Wesley Ingle and Earnest Ingle.

Mr. Ingle is survived by his wife, Lena Winters Ingle of Summerville; daughters and sons-in-law, Zeta and Ken Reynolds of Summerville, and Joyce and Jeff Warren of Rome; Brothers, Albert Ingle of Jamestown, AL, and Earl Ingle of California; Grandchildren, Leanna Warren and Daniel Reynolds; and a number of nieces and nephews.

James “Pat” Pledger Obit UPDATED

MR. JAMES L. (PAT) PLEDGER, Sr., age 70, of Ridgecrest Drive-Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday (June 11, 2009) evening in a Rome hospital following an extended illness. Born in Boaz, Alabama on August 14, 1938, a son of the late John Thomas and Bessie Turner Pledger. He was retired from auto body repair shop and bus driver. Mr. Pledger was member of West Summerville Baptist Church and Alpine Lodge #211 F & AM. He was preceded in death by a son the late Christopher Kyle Pledger on May 21, 2007.

Surviving are wife-Shirley Mosier Pledger; daughter & son-in-law-Patricia & Lee Colgrove; son & daughter-in-law-Jimmy & Julie Pledger all of Summerville; sisters & brothers-in-law-Betty and Jerry Johnson of Summerville, Gay and Gary Shaw of Lyerly; brothers & sisters-in-law-T. C. & Beatrice Pledger, Bob & Elaine Pledger, and Bill & Jenny Pledger all of Summerville; Artis & Patricia Pledger of Lyerly; Eight Grandchildren; Two Great-Grandchildren; several Nieces, and Nephews also survive.

Mrs. Mozelle Lipham Elrod, age 87 of Decatur, GA passed away Thursday June 11, 2009 at her residence.  Mrs. Elrod was born June 8, 1922 in Chattooga County.  She was retired from Big Rig Truck Components and was Baptist by faith. Mrs. Elrod was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Morris Elrod; sisters, Cara Mae Quarles and Lois (Midge) Talent; and a brother, Lawrence (Bill) Martin. Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Dewey Michael and Gail Ann Lipham of Jonesboro, GA, step-daughter and her husband, Lynn and David Wall; grandsons, Christopher Michael Lipham, Paul Andrew Lipham and Matthew Shane Lipham; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Brittany, Kelsey, Jacob, Nicholas and Miranda Lipham; step-grandchildren, Ginger, Stacie, Lee Ann and Mathew Paul and great-grandchildren survive. Graveside services will be held Sunday, June 14 at 1:30 PM from the Summerville Cemetery with Paul Andrew Lipham and Matthew Shane Lipham officiating.  Interment will be in the Summerville Cemetery. Mrs. Elrod will lie in state Saturday June 13, 2009 at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM.
