Gazaway Obit

Mrs. Tina Marie Gazaway, age 53, of Menlo, GA died Thursday, April 23, 2009 at her residence. Mrs. Gazaway was born December 19, 1955 in Cherokee County, AL, the daughter of George Orr Crowe, Jr. and the late Ruby Hall Crowe. Mrs. Gazaway was employed as a LPN with the Lookout Mountain Human Resources. She was a member of the Menlo First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Gazaway; children, Robert Hunt, Blake and Leslie Gazaway, Lance Gazaway, Shawn and Sissy Guffey; father, George Orr Crowe, Jr.; brothers, George Orr Crowe, III and Ralph Hall Crowe; grandchildren, Jeremy Bryce Gazaway, Josie Blair Gazaway, Wesley Jordan Guffey, and Tyler Chance Guffey.

Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday April 26, 2009 from the graveside at Alpine Cemetery with Rev. Scott Quinn officiating, with interment to follow in the Family Plot at Alpine Cemetery

 

 

Spud Hill Obit

MRS. LAVADNA “SPUD” HILL, age 96, of Atlanta, former longtime resident of Chattooga County, Georgia passed away Friday morning in a Alpharetta, Georgia hospital. A native of Apison, Tennessee, Mrs. Hill born to the late Ailey H. and Carrie Cooper Hughes on March 11, 1913. First coming to Trion, Georgia in the 1930s’ She held several positions in the Riegel Textile Corporation at Trion , forerunner of Mt. Vernon Mills. In 1945, she and her late husband,  Mr. J. D. Hill, established J. D. Hill Funeral Home in Summerville; Spud, later was Receptionist for Earle Rainwater Funeral Home until retiring due to ill health. She was a member of the Summerville First Baptist Church. Spud was preceded in death by her husband the late J. D. Hill; siblings-the late O.O. Hughes, C.C. Hughes, R.C. Hughes, Ava Viola Cannon, and Chasta Faye Webb.

Surviving are son-Jimmy Hill and daughter-in-law-Marci H. Hill of Dunwoody; granddaughter-Brittan Carrie Hill of Dunwoody; step granddaughter-Kimberly Cox and step grandson-Chris Cox both of Dunwoody, Georgia; several Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins also survive. 

Funeral services will be held Sunday (April 26th) at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 7 until 9 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

Tondalaya H. Tudor obit

Mrs. Tondalaya Henderson Tudor, age 62, of 114 Old Airport Road, Rome, GA passed away April 22, 2009, at Floyd Medical Center.  Mrs. Tudor was born September 12, 1946 in Trion, GA.  She was a homemaker and a Baptist.Mrs. Tudor was preceded in death by her mother, Annie Mae Mormom Henderson and her husband, William Tudor.Mrs. Tudor is survived by her father, Billy C. Henderson, Trion, GA; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Randy Allen, Rome. GA; Melissa and Steve Lowrance of LaFayette, GA; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Laura Mason, Evans, GA; Robbie and Sissy Mason, Rome, GA; Billy and Kelly Mason of Gadsden, AL; two brothers and sister-in-law, David and Janet Griffin and Charles S. Henderson, Trion, GA.; one sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Harry Brady of Lyerly, GA, and nine grandchildren. Arden Obit

Mr. Larry Wayne Arden, age 67, of Trion, GA died Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at his residence.

Mr. Arden was born September 2, 1941 in Chattooga County, GA, the son of the late Mack Arden, Sr. and Julia "Julie" Bryant Arden. He was a member of Second Baptist Church of Gaylesville and was formerly employed at Riegel Textile. Mr. Arden was preceded in death by sisters, Edna Arden, Doris Fletcher, and Thelma "Sis" Payton; brothers, Mack Arden, Jr. and Paul Arden; and nieces, Ashley Bullard and Jennifer Bullard.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Arden; daughter, Kimberly Arden; brothers, Dwight Arden and Charles Arden, brother-in-law, Russell Payton; sister-in-law, Helen Arden; and several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p. m. Friday, April 24, 2009 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mickey Skates officiating. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Kendall Sosebee, Ed Flenner, Gary Howell, Bobby Bradshaw, Fred Hardin, Leo Crane, and Charlie Lowry. Honorary pallbearers will be Employees of Caron Medical Clinic; the Staff of Hymen Hospice; and all member of Second Baptist Church of Gaylesville, and Koltin Sosebee.

Mitchell Obit

Mr. James Clifford "Pete" Mitchell, JR, age 76, of Lyerly, GA, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at his residence.

Mr. Mitchell was born April 24, 1932 in Cherokee County, AL, the son of Mildred Carr Mitchell and the late James Clifford Mitchell, Sr. He retired from Roper Corporation after years of service as Maintance Group Leader. Other than his father, Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his first wife, Faye Kelley Mitchell; twin sons, Boyd C. Mitchell and Loyd D. Mitchell; and a sister, Nell Mitchell.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Mitchell; daughters and sons-in-law, Becky & Tim Groce and Kathy & Danny Arp; step-son, Jim Cleveland; step-son & daughter-in-law, Jack & Joyce Cleveland; mother, Mildred Mitchell; sisters, Beatrice Brown, Sue Barosay, Ann Broyles, Naomi Barnes; grandchildren, Jason Mitchell and Matthew Groce; 4 Step Grandchildren; 1 Great Grandchild; 1 Step Great Grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Friday, April 24, 2009 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Wilborn officiating. Burial will follow in Union Hill (Needmore) Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matthew Groce, Jason Mitchell, Joe Reed, Charles Noles, Bob Reynolds, and Raymond Reynolds.

Quincy Bo Arp Obit

Mr. Quincy Bo Arp, age 29, of Trion, GA, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at his residence.  Mr. Arp was born November 12, 1979, in Fort Oglethorpe, GA.  He was a student and Baptist by faith. Quincy is survived by his mothers and step-father, Frances and Jimmy Reynolds of Trion, GA; and Irene Timmons McDowell of  Summerville, GA; father, Bobby Arp of Summerville, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Wendy and Randy Smith of Summerville, GA; brother, Joseph Wilson of Summerville, GA; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 18, 2009, at 3:00pm from the chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. John Leatherwood officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery. Quincy will lie-in-state Friday, April 17, 2009, at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00pm.  Pallbearers will be Randy Smith, Kyle Timmons, Chris Gentry, Thad Reed, Josh Day and Richard Bass.  Honorary pallbearers will be friends.  They are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 2:30pm on Saturday. Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Mr. Quincy Bo Arp who passed away Wednesday.

Mrs. Eulon Hutchins

MRS. EULON RATLIFF HUTCHINS, age 89, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday (April 16, 2009) morning in a Cedartown, Georgia health care. A lifetime resident of Chattooga County, Georgia, Mrs. Hutchins was born to the late William Otis Ratliff and Audrey Cox Ratliff on January 21, 1920. She was Baptist by Faith and was a retired Dietician. Mrs. Hutchins was preceded in death by her husband the late Johnny Hutchins.

Surviving nephew-Terry Ratliff of Summerville;

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 18, at 3:30pm from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Junior Evans and Rev. Rob Pierce officiating.  Interment in Summerville Cemetery.
