Obituary for Mrs. Billie Jo Harkins

 Mrs. Billie Jo Harkins, age 75, of Curran Street, Summerville, GA, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2009, at her residence.  Mrs. Harkins was born December 29, 1933, in Dekalb County AL.  She was retired from the Roper Corporation and was a member of the Spring Creek Baptist Church.

 Mrs. Harkins was preceded in death by her father and mother, Willie and Dovie Hulgan Brewster; sister, Patty Sigler; brothers, James Brewster and Tom Henry Brewster.

 Mrs. Brewster is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Patsy Peek of Trion, GA; Michael and Cathy Stancil of Summerville, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Jan and Randy Prince of Subligna; Lynn and Steve Evans of Summerville; Gayle and Mark Waycaster of Calhoun, GA; sisters, Gladys Hartline of Summerville, Bernice Morris of LaFayette, GA, Ollie Henderson of Rome, GA, Ruby Norris of Summerville, Louise Brewster of Summerville Bernice Morris of LaFayette, GA and Bobbie Boling of Rome, GA; brothers, Tommy Brewster of Summerville, Johnny Brewster of Summerville and Ronnie Brewster of Summerville; grandchildren, David Peek, Darlia Minard, Selena Crider, Michael Lee Stancil, Jana Evans, Eric Evans, William Stancil, Olivia Stancil and Cameron Waycaster;  9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survived.

 Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 18, 2009, at 11:00am from the chapel of the Erwin-Pettit Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Wilborn officiating.  Interment will follow in Perennial Springs Cemetery. 

Mrs. Harkins will lie-in-state, Friday, April 17, 2009, at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm.

 Pall-bearers will be David Peek, Michael Lee Stancil, William Stancil,  Eric Evans, Thomas Minard, Richard Bonanno, Cameron Waycaster and Brett Peek.  Honorary pallbearers will be the Chattooga County Cancer Support Group and the United Hospice of Rome. They are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 10:30am on Saturday.

Obituary for Mrs. Jessie Mae Kinsey  Mrs. Jessie Mae Kinsey, age 93, of 2233 Spring Creek Road, Trion, GA, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at her residence.  Mrs. Kinsey was born September 1, 1915, in Catoosa County GA.  She was retired from Berryton Textile and a member of the EastTrion Church of God. Mrs. Kinsey was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon William Kinsey; father and mother, Ed and Samantha Jane Hammonds Peppers; son, Ronald Gordon Kinsey and several brothers and sisters. Mrs. Kinsey is survived by her sons, William L. Kinsey of Summerville, GA;  Donald Kinsey of Trion, GA; Carl Edward Kinsey of Madison Heights, Michigan; James Kinsey of Fayetteville, GA; Tom Kinsey of Castle Rock, Washington, and Kenneth Lee Kinsey of Summerville, GA; her daughter, Iretta Joyce Garver of Sacramento, California; 4 daughters-in-law; 1 son-in-law; 23 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.  Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 17, 2009, at 1:00pm from the chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. MR. MAYLON HOMER PURCELL, age 90, of Dry Valley Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday (April 14, 2009) morning in Cartersville, Georgia. A native of Ashland, Georgia He was born to the late Adolphus Homer and Maude Whitfield Purcell on February 14, 1919. Mr. Purcell, a graduate of Cornelia High School,  received his Bachelors Degree in Agriculture from Habersham College and Masters Degree in Agronomy from the University of Georgia. He was a member of Summerville First United Methodist Church and for 30 years was the Co-operative Extension Agent for University of Georgia in Summerville. Mr. Purcell was Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force during WW II serving in the South Pacific

Surviving are wife-Macie Crow Purcell; daughters and son-in-law-Nancy Purcell Hyte of Atlanta and Nancy Kathy Purcell and Gary Floyd of Cartersville; sisters-Marion Purcell Anderson of Toccoa, GA.; brother-James Alfred Purcell of McKinsey, TN.; grandchildren-Jamie Woodward and Eric Brown, Noah Simpson Hyte, Rebekah Lois Hyte, Louis Jacob Hyte; step grandchildren-Jarrod Floyd and Anna Elaine Floyd; several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday (April 16th) at 10:30 A.M. from the Summerville First United Methodist Church with Rev. David Hix officiating, interment in Rose Hill Cemetery-Royston, GA. 4:30 P.M. Thursday. Visitation will be Wednesday (April 15th) from 6 until 8 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nellie Jane Hilton, age 86, a recent resident of Oak View Nursing Home, Summerville, GA, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009 in Redmond Regional Medical Center. Until recently, she had lived in Murphy, NC with her daughter.

Mrs. Hilton was born November 6, 1922 in White County, GA, the daughter of the late Robert Ramsey Craig and Fannie Mae Dyer Craig. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Hilton was preceded in death by a former husband, L. D. Henderson; and her late husband, John Hilton; one brother, Dillard Craig; three sisters, Mozele Craig, Louise Howell, and Jessie Shirley.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Bill Rogers, Murphy, NC; sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas Robert and Louise Helton, Summerville, GA, Jerry and Mary Helton, Lyerly, GA; six grandchildren, Troy Rutledge, Randy Warren, Gene Rogers, Steve Helton, Amy Helton McCleskey, and Scott Helton; 9 Great Grandchildren;11 Great Great Grandchildren; two sisters, Lucy Brown and Frances Smith, Summerville, GA; one brother, Watson Craig, Lyerly, GA; and a number of Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Knowles officiating. Burial will follow in Summerville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Troy Rutledge, Randy Warren, Steve Helton, Scott Helton, T. J. Rutledge, and Andrew Wilkinson.

MR. CHARLES KELLY LuALLEN, age 78, of Marshall Lane, Rome, Georgia, passed away Friday, (April 10, 2009), in a Rome hospital. A native of Chattooga County, He was born on February 19, 1931 to the late Willie and Josie Spain LuAllen. Prior to retirement, He worked in the sawmilling industry for a number of years.

Surviving are His wife-Brenda Wright LuAllen; son-Kevin LuAllen; daughters-Jackie LuAllen, Sheila LuAllen, and Skyla LuAllen; four grandchildren-Julie Loveless, Gary Matthews, Jason and Chris Wooten; eight Great Grandchildren; brothers-Larry LuAllen, Robert LuAllen, and LeRoy LuAllen; sisters-Eva Jo Pierce and Linda Pierce all of Summerville; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday (April 14, 2009) at 1PM in the Chapel of Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, interment in East View Cemetery. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 6 until 8 P.M.

Mrs. Hazel Weaver Walker age 78 of Trion went to be with her Lord Saturday April 11, 2009. 

She was a member of Waterville Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband Lester Walker, parents Andrew and Bessie Wilbanks Weaver, sister Dora Pfiel, brothers Ralph, Leroy and Phillip Weaver, great grandson Brody Whaley.

Survived by daughters and son-in-law Branda and Harold Helton, Elaine and Buthc Haney, son and daughter-in-law Reece and Ann Weaver, five grandaughters, two great grandaughters, fourt great grandsons, sisters Thelma Stephens, Rising Fawn, Wiladean Cordle, LaFayette, Evelyn Thompson, Trion, Jeanette Rushing, Tupelo, MS., brothers Charles Weaver, Dalton, Jimmy Weaver, Trion, Thomas Weaver, Rossville, Billy Weaver, Palestine, TX several nieces and nephews survive.

Mr. Ralph Emerson Spicer, age 86, of Summerville, GA died Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at The Summit in Rome, GA.

Mr. Spicer was born January 7, 1923 in Deputy, Indiana, the son of the late Samuel and Nettie B. Wolf Spicer. Before retirement, Mr. Spicer was employed in retail sales. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Louise Wooten Spicer.

Survivors include his sons, Donald Spicer, North Vernon, IN, Raymond Spicer, Scipio, IN, Larry D. Phelps, Columbia, IN, Barry Phelps, Summerville, GA. daughters, Kathy Hendricks, Columbus, IN, Beverly Rascoe, Seymour, IN, Sharon Holcomb, Summerville, GA; sister, Betty Burchett, Deputy, IN; 14 Grandchildren; and 17 Great Grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p. m. Monday, April 13, 2009 at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Jackson officiating.
