Mrs. Sharron Harper Allison, age 54, of Summerville, GA died Sunday January 25, 2009 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Allison was born March 11, 1954, the daughter of the late Gerald R. and Alice Wilma Taylor Harper. She was employed with Transcend Corporation. Mrs. Allison was a member of Wayside Baptist Church where she served as pianist.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Allison; children, Derrick Martin and Karinda Martin, Conyers, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary & Beckie Harper, Summerville, GA, Rev. Wayne & Lorinda Harper, Mt. View, AR; niece, Diane Harper, nephews, Bruce Harper, Aaron Harper and Ian Harper.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00p. m. Wednesday, January 28, 2009 from the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Don Knowles and Rev. Lavonne Humphrey officiating. Burial will follow in Perennial Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Gary Harper, Bruce Harper, Aaron Harper, Karl Marbutt, Mark Steig, and Tony Bearden.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Hinton and all members of the Adult Sunday School Class of Wayside Baptist Church.

Mr. Richard Talley “Rick” Gentry, age 47, of Summerville, GA died Sunday, January 25, 2009 at his residence. Mr. Gentry was born October 31, 1961 in LaFayette, GA, the son of Lula Mae Smith Gentry and the late Edward Talley Gentry. He was employed with Mt. Vernon Mills and was a two year member of the Quarter Century Club. Mr. Gentry was a member of the Chelsea Baptist Church. He graduated from Chattooga High School, where he received a medal for industrial arts. Mr. Gentry is survived by his mother, Lula Mae Smith Gentry, Summerville, GA; brother, Charles Edward Gentry, Trion, GA; sisters, Barbara Elaine Hughes, Trion, GA; and Susan Mae Gentry, Summerville, GA. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dean Tapp & Rev. Steve Spears officiating. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Austin Obit

Mr. Daniel Erwin Austin, age 72, of Trion, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2009 at his residence.

Mr. Austin was born in LaFayette, Georgia on June 11, 1936, son of the late William C. Austin and Ida Mae Holbrook Austin. He was Self Employed as a carpenter and caretaker for the Christ Church in St. Simon’s Island and was preceded in death by sisters, Ruth Baggett and Marjorie Daffron.

Mr. Austin is survived by his wife, Eunice L. Christopher Austin; Children, Danette Austin Suttles, Angela Austin Copeland (Wesley); Brothers, David Austin(Darlene), and William Chester Austin, Jr.(Helen); Grandchildren, Karmen D. Copeland, Zackery G. Suttles and Kassie M. Suttles; and one Great Grandchild, Sebastian Z. Suttles.

Funeral Services for Mr. Austin will be held Monday, January 26, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeffery Mallard officiating. Interment will follow in the Howell Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Zackery Suttles, Roland Christopher, Jeffery Christopher, Michael McCormick, Steven Kannard, and Danny Dooley.

Mrs. Jeanette Goodson Greene, age 67, of Summerville, GA, passed away Saturday January 24, 2009, in Floyd Medical Center.

Mrs. Greene was born March 28, 1941, in Walker County GA, daughter of the late Charlie B. and Lucy Mae Anderson Goodson. She was a home maker and was Baptist by faith. Mrs. Greene was preceded in death by her husband, Scott Lee Greene.

Survivors include her children, Chris Greene, Michael Greene, Jason Greene, Summerville,GA, Jeff Greene, Lyerly, GA, Lisa Craig, and Karen Wood, Summerville, GA; brothers , Herman Goodson, Rubin Goodson, Trion, GA, sisters, Georgia Mae Cochran, Trion, GA, Mattie Williams, Summerville, GA, Kathy Hardin, Lyerly, GA; 9 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday January 26, 2009 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Pledger officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Betty Earl Hines, age 70, of Summerville, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2009 at LaFayette Healthcare Center.

Mrs. Hines was born in Chattooga County, Georgia on August 28, 1938, daughter of the late Earl Rose and Rosa Bell Bryant Rose. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a Creeler with Bigelow-Sanford. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hines was preceded in death by her husband, Claude L. Hines; a son, Donnie Hines; sisters, Frances LeBlanc and Pauline Laney; brothers, Mark McGuire and Marty McGuire; and a granddaughter, Tonya Weaver.

Mrs. Hines is survived by a sons, Jason Hines, Lexington, KY, and Robert Lee Hines, Davidsboro, GA; daughters, Elizabeth Hall, Trion, Terry Hines, Rome, Linda Hines, Subligna, Christy Fowler, Subligna and Kim Mincey, Trion; Brothers, Roy Rose, Flintstone and Nicky McGuire, Dalton; sisters, Shirley Pike, Walker Co., GA, Barbara Millaway, Cleveland, TN, and Marilyn McGuire; 21 Grandchildren and 42 Great Grandchildren.

Mrs. Iva Nell Williams, age 74, of Albertville, AL (formerly of Trion, GA) died Friday, January 23, 2009 at her residence.

Mrs. Williams was born October 23, 1934 in Trion, GA, the daughter of the late Archie and Maggie Mae Grimes Thomas. She was retired from Roper Corporation. Mrs. Williams was a member of the First Baptist Church of Albertville. She was a former and longtime member of the Trion First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Williams; son, Paul Searels; and brothers, Glenn Thomas and Herman Thomas.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Mark & Annette Searels, Albertville, AL; Grandchildren, Zachary Searels and Samantha Searels; sisters, Bonnie Fleming, Somerset, KY and Katie Ledbetter, Cedar Bluff, AL; brothers, Ralph Thomas, Trion, GA and James Thomas, Asheville, NC; and several Nieces and Nephews.

Mrs. Velma Mae Cross, age 100, of Aragon, GA died Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Oakview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Cross was born November 25, 1908 in Chattooga County, GA, the daughter of the late William Edgar and Mary Sudie Williams Holland. She was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills. Mrs. Cross was a member of the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ.

Survivors include a daughter, Sue Newsome, Aragon, GA; sister, Geneva Nix, Muscle Shoals, AL, grandson, Michael Newsome; granddaughters, Rita Tanner and Jaque Newsome; 12 Great-grandchildren; and 16 Great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Saturday, January 24, 2009 at West Hill Cemetery with Min. Hugh Glaze officiating. Pallbearers will be Tyler Newsome, Randy Hall, Tommy Hall, Micah Maddux, Michael Newsome, and Gary Battles.

Mrs. Charlotte Julie B. McGuire, age 58, of Summerville, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. McGuire was born in Chattooga County, Georgia on July 14, 1950, daughter of the late Herman J.D. Hunter and Joann Ledford Hunter.  She was a member of the Shepherd’s Chapel in Gravette, Arkansas and was a homemaker.Mrs. McGuire is survived by her husband, James Lee McGuire; son and daughter-in-law, Merle and Lisa McGuire; daughters and son-in-law, Kathy and Henry Millsap,

Hegwood Obit

Mr. Barry Gordon Hegwood, age 48, of Lakeland, FL died Tuesday, January 20, 2009 in Lakeland, Florida.

Mr. Hegwood was born October 9, 1960 in Chattooga County, GA. He was a truck driver. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Forrest “Babe” and Addie Lou Williams Hegwood, and Gordon “Bill” and Helen Key.

Survivors include his parents, Ross & Mary Hegwood, Cloudland, GA; brother and sister- in-law, Yogi & Shanne Hegwood, Menlo, GA; sister & brother-in-law, Jane & Lamar Canada, Cloudland, GA; and 1 Niece and 4 Nephews.

Mrs. Marie Fowler Plunkett, age 81, of Summerville, GA died Wedne sday, January 21, 2009at Summit Rehabilitation Center in Rome, GA.
Mrs. Plunkett was born December 3, 1927 in Bessemer, AL, the daughter of the late CarlM. Fowler, SR and Esther Rebecca=2 0Linderman Fowler. Mrs. Plunkett was a member ofSubligna Baptist Church.  She was active in church activities, having served for 44 years as a Sunday School Teacher.  She also taught in Vacation Bible School.  Mrs. Plunkett was
retired Director of Oak Hill Museum of Berry College.  She was a member of the ChattoogaCounty Homemaker’s Club.  She was a graduate of the Carroll Lynn School of Business.Mrs. Plunkett’s hobbies included quilting, travel, painting, crafts, doll making, and collecting.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Fowler.
