Mrs. Margie Irene Helms, age 76, of Trion, GA died Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at Cozy Manor in LaFayette, GA.

Mrs. Helms was born December 8, 1933 in Trion, GA, the daughter of the late Henry and Mildred Swindle Ledford. She was a homemaker and a member of the Welcome Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Helms was preceded in death by a daughter, Elaine Witt; twin sons, Johnny Helms and Donnie Helms.

Survivors include her husband, Bobby Helms; sons, Steve Helms and Richard Helms, Trion, GA; brother, Billy Ledford, Chatsworth, GA; 8 Grandchildren; and 7 Great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held 3:30 p.m. Friday December 19, 2008, from the Welcome Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Terry Shores and Bro. Steve Helms officiating with interment in the Greenhills Memory Garden. Active pallbearers, Stephen Witt, Co-Ray Helms, Adam Burnett, Brad Groce, Chase Bolton, David Helms, Jeff Helms, Tony Patterson. Honorary pallbearers, The Senior Ladies Sunday School Class of Welcome Hill Baptist Church.

Mrs. Helms will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday December 18, 2008. Mrs. Helms will also lie in state at the Church Friday from 3:00 p.m. until the service hour.

 

Edith Wilson Complete Obit

Mrs. Edith Nancy Wales Wilson, age 90, of Menlo, GA., passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2008, in Floyd Medical Center.

Mrs. Wilson was born September 5, 1918, in Kenwood, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Lee Larkin & Fannie Elmina Wales. She was a member of the Summerville Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband Warner Edwin Wilson, to whom she was married for 64 years.

Survivors include sons & daughters-in-law, Warner Edwin & Martha Wilson, Jr., Fayetteville, GA, Nelson Lee & Brenda Wilson, Summerville, GA, daughters & sons-in-law, Nancy Joyce & Lawrence Smith, Adairsville, GA, Sheryl Diane & Bobby McDaniel, Menlo, GA, 9 Grandchildren, 9 Great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Friday, December 19, 2008 from the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Matthews officiating. Burial will follow in Alpine Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Grandsons.

Mrs. Wilson will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m.Thursday.

 

Edith Wilson Announcement

Mrs. Edith Nancy Wales Wilson, age 90 of Summerville, passed away on Tuesday December 16, 2008 in Floyd Medical Center.

Mrs. Wilson was born September 15, 1918 in Kenwood, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Lee Larkin and Fannie Elmina Wales.  She was a member of the Summerville Church of God, and was preceeded in death by her husband Warner Edwin Wilson to whom she was married for 64 years.

Scoggins Obit

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Scoggins, age 94 of Summerville passed away on Tuesday in the local nursing home.  She was born in Chattooga County on November 8, 1914, daughter of the late John Franklin and Pearl West Scoggins.  Mrs. Scoggins was a member of the Summerville First Baptist Church, retired Nurse from the Chattooga County Health Department and was preceded in death by her husband the late H. Evans Scoggins.

Surviving are sisters, Annie Hale and Alma Abernathy of Summerville, several neices and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 2 PM from the Summerville First Baptist Church with Dr. Kenneth Summey officiating.  Interment in Summerville Cemetery.  Active Pallbearers – Wayne Hardin, Bob McGraw, Frankie Abernathy, Terry Taylor, Joseph Hardin and Michael Prince.  Honorary Pallbearers – Ladies of Summerville First Baptist Church.

Visitation will be this evening (Tuesday) from 6 until 8 PM at the Earle Rainwater Funeral Home.  Mrs. Scoggins will also lie in state at Summerville First Baptist Church Wednesday from 1 until 2 PM.

Wibirt Obit

Mrs. Cherry E. Wibirt age 76 of Trion pased away on Saturday at Floyd Medical Center.  She was employed by the Chattooga County Board of Education and was a member of the Trion First Baptist Church.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Cherry was preceeded in death by her husband, the late John Delvin Wibirt and a son Fredrick Lee Wibirt.

Survivors are her grandaughter and husband Anna and Tony Blansit.  Great Grandsons Mike and John Schrader both of Trion and great grandaughter Savanna Evitt of Trion and several cousins.

Cherry will lie in state Monday where the family will receive frinds from 4 until 6 PM at the Erwin Petitt Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 PM from the cahpel of Erwin Petitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Johnson officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

Flippo Obit

Mr. James Franklin Flippo, Age 80 fo Summerville, passed away Saturday at Hucheson Medical Center in Ft. Oglethorpe.  He was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills and was a Baptist by Faith.

Mr. Flippo was born April 4, 1928 in Jackson County, Alabama the son of James Hensley Flippo and Annie Lou Braddy Flippo.  He was precede in death by thre sisters: Evelyn Lawson, Barbara Hayes and Judy Doty.

Surviving are one son and daughter in law, Mike and Debbie Flippo fo Trion.  One daughter and sone in law, Nancyh and Gary Zeigler of Valdosta, GA.  One Brother Jack Flippo of Houma, LA. survives.  Also surviving a brother and sister in alw, Ronnie and Doris Flippo of Summerville.  Four Grandchildren: Sabrina and Eric Mann of Trion, Jeffrey Zeigler, David Zeigler and Gerard and Nikki Zeigler of Valdosta, GA.  Two great grandchildren, Jacob and Sydney Zeigler.

Mr. Flippo will lie in state Monday at the Erwin Petitt Funeral Home from 6 until 8 PM. 

Pallbearers will be grandsons.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3:30 PM from the Erwin Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. James Braddy and Rev. Billy Dempsey officiating.  Interment will be in the West Hill Cemetery.

Wilson Obit

Mrs. Chatherine Virinia Wilson, age 83 of Summerville, passed away Saturday evening in the local nursing home.  She was a native of Chattooga County born to the late Earl Freeman and Annie Ruth Bullard Newsome on June 14, 1925.

She was a member of the Northside Church of Christ and a graduate of Summerville High School.  She also attended the Carrol Lynn Business School of Rome.  Mrs. Wilson was a retired bookeeper for the former Wilson Motor Company and was preceded in death by a daughter, the late Brenda Wilson.  Also by a sister, the late Maxine Newsome Marshall and a brother the late Edwin Earl Newsome, Sr. and by a nephew the late Edwin Earl Newsome, Jr.  and a niece the late Nedra Wilson.

Surivng are husband, Ewert Quinton Wilson, Sr, daughter and son in law, Becky and Gary Duke, son and daughter in law, Ewart Quinton Wilson, JR and Susan Wilson all of Summerville.  Also a sister, Charlotte Brand of Covington, GA, grandchildren Wendi Harkins, Shelley Wilson, Kyle Duke, Erin Shireman, Jeremiah Wilson, great grandchildren, Alex Wilson, Chandler Mitchell, Katherine Duke, Addyson Shireman, Adrianna Shireman, and Nicholas Duke and a special cousin Mike Dillard along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral servies will be held Tuesday at 1:30 PM from the JD Hill Memorial Chapel of the Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Ministers Ron Fisher and Tommy Broome officiating.  Intemrent in the Summerville Cemetery.  Active pallbearers: Jon Payne, Dee Windle, Lan Cordle, Rex Evans, Mike Wilson, and Jamie Renslow.  Honorary Pallbearers:  Dr. W.M. Mrs. Mary Ann Nix

Mrs. Mary Ann Nix age 71 of Price Bridge Road, Lyerly Georgia passed away Firday in a Rome hospital.  Mrs. Nix was born in Chattooga County, Georgia on September 3, 1937 a daughter of the late Turnp and Lula Smith  Alexander.  She was a member of the Berryton Baptist Church and was retired from Bigelow-Sanford Carpet shipping department.

Surviving are husband – Gene Nix; children, Howard Lee Nix of Ft. Payne, Ciba Lyn Bell of LaFayette, Kathryn Rogers of Summerville, and Jeannie Dell Renfroe of Lyerly; sister Dorothy Igou of Johnson City, TN; grandchildren, Shannon Nix, Jamie Davis, Stevi White, J.R. Goggins, Alan Goggins, Tanya Reed, Josh Bell, Aaron Bell, Summer Nolan, Drek Reynolds, Alyse Reynolds, Adam Hunt, Glenn Pierce, Renee Pierce, Talley Pierce, Casin Rogers, Desirae Rogers; 20 Great Grandchildren and Nieces and Nephews Survive.

Sizemore Obit

Mrs. Edna Mae Sizemore age 74 of Trion passed away Thursday December 11 in Hutcheson Medical Center.  She was born March 2 1934 in Chattooga County, GA.  She was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills after 32 years of service and was Church of God by faith.

Mrs. Sizemore was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Lewis Sizemore; father and mother, Chester and Pearl Lee McCutchins Chochran; brothers, Harvey Cochran and Leonard Cochran.

Survivors include son, Lewis Ray Sizemore of Trion, Daughters, Marlene Blackmon of Chickamauga and Patricia Frady of Chickamauga; 7 grandchildren, 11 great grand children; several nieces and nephews also survived.

Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday December 13th from the chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Wright officiating.  Interment will be in the West Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Sizemore will lie in state Saturday at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5 to 9 PM.  Pallbearers will be Lewis Ray Sizemore, Danny Frady, Ricky Frady, Jeremy Blackmon, and James Lee Frady.

Mr. Jerry Lee Kellar, age 59, of Lyerly, GA., passed away December 11, 2008, at his residence. Mr. Kellar was born May 30, 1949, in Jackson County Alabama, the son of the late Ben and Pauline Potter Kellar, Sr. Mr. Kellar was employed with Mt Vernon Mills. Survivors include a daughter, Rachel Duncan, Rome, GA., brothers, Bill Kellar, Trion,GA, Jimmy Kellar, Lyerly, GA, Bobby Kellar, Summerville, GA, Ben A. Kellar, Jr., Section, AL. grandchildren, Dawson Duncan, Noah Duncan, and Jozalyn Tanner, and several nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be held 3:00 p.m. (EST) Sunday December 14, 2008 from the Center Point Baptist Church Cemetery, Scottsboro, AL. with Rev. Dean Tapp officiating with interment in the Center Point Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be nephews.
