Steven Elbert brown age 55 of 209 Aikens Rd, Chickamauga, GA. passed away Tuesday July 8th at his residence, he was employed by GA. Power Co. and was a baptist, a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the US Army. He was preceded in death by his father J.C. Brown and a brother Stacey Wayne Brown. Mrs Mary Vivian Lousie Dixson Kennedy age 88 of Ft. Payne, Alabama passed away Sunday July 6, 2008 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.
She is survived by her husband Noah Kennedy of Ft. Payne and Daughters Faye Wofford and Charlotte Wigington both of Ft. Payne. Sons, Richard Kennedy, James Edward Kennedy of Ft. Payne. Also survived by sisters Ruby Petitt of Summerville, GA, Lavada Dean of LaFayette, GA and Nadine Bailey Moore of Rossville, GA along with Kathleen Gentry, Ovell Dixon, Barabara Gail Dixon and Jeanette Pope of Ft. Payne. She is also survived by brothers Burl Dixson and Jimmy Dale Dixon of Ft. Payne along with 9 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren and 10 Great-Great Grandchildren.

Mrs. Robbie Lee Lingerfelt, age 87, of Gaylesville, AL., passed away Friday July 4, 2008, in Cherokee Medical Center.
Mrs. Lingerfelt was born Feb. 10, 1921, in Cherokee County Alabama, the daughter of the late Robert and Sara Barcley Tallent. She was a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church #1,and was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, Kelly Ann Lingerfelt, and Carra Kay Lingerfelt.

Mrs. Sara Baty of Mentone, Alabama passed away on Saturday July 5th at the Dekalb Medical Center in Ft. Payne.
Mrs. Baty is survived by two children. Alice Durham of Cloudland, GA and Richard Baty of Summerville, GA., several grandchildren and great – grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jr. Baty. Mrs. Baty was member of Cove Road Baptist Church in Mentone, Alabama.
Funeral services are scheduled fo Tuesday at 2 PM (GA TIME) at the Burt Funeral Home Chapel in Valley Head, AL with the Rev. Marlin Starnes officiating. Burial will follow in the Bankhead Cemetary at Mentone. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5-9 PM (GA TIME) at the funeral home.
As the shade of evening sun settled over the city of Trion on Monday, the grim reaper of death swiftly and silently bore away the spirit of Nellie Bell Kilgore.
Nellie Hunter, daughter of Bob and Lillie Wilson Hunter, both deceased, was born January 11, 1920, and at an early age gave her life to the Master and joined Spring Creek Baptist Church, from where her funeral will be held on Wednesday July 2, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. by her former pastor Rev. Jimmy Wilborn and assisted by her present pastor James Sprayberry, both of them testifying to her faith in God, whom she daily served. She was a housewife and a member of the Ladies Adult Sunday School Class. Sad, sad is death, but when a mother, with a kind and devoted husband, a happy home with six dear children whom God had given them, ’tis then that we pause and think, oh why those children were left without a mothers love and care." But God in His infinite wisdom doth all things well, and we know that to her was the call, "well done thou good and faithful servant-enter thou into thy rest eternal."
Besides her parents, Nellie Kilgore was also preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Thomas Kilgore Sr., sisters, Edith Payne, and Boobie Ann Hunter; and a brother, R.T. Hunter.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Ray Eller of Silsbee, TX; sons and daughter-in-law, Jesse and Charlotte Kilgore of Rome, C.L. Kilgore of Cartersville; Danny and Rachel Kilgore of Summerville; Thomas Woodrow Kilgore jr. and Bobby Kilgore of Trion; sisters, Edna Jones Fricks of Rome and Mamie Rodgers of Virginia Beach, VA; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild ; serveral nieces and nephews also survived.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday July 2, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Spring Creek Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Spring Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday July 1, 2008 at the Erwin Petitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m.

Mr. Fred Vernon Lewis age 71, of Halls Valley Road, Trion passed away Sunday June 22nd at his residence following an extended illness. A native of Chattooga County. He was born to the late millard M. and Mammie Ester Brooks Lewis on May 6th 1937. Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his wife Davine Lewis, He was a Veteran of the US Air Force retiring after 20 years of service then working for Simpson Paper Products in Pasadena, TX, retiring some 8 yers ago and returning to Georgia to live. Surviving are children, Donna Lynn Claybourn, Debbie Terrell and Dale Vernon Lewis all of Pasadena TX. Sisters Judy McNair of LaFayette and Wanda Smith of Trion, Brother Marshall Lewis of Lawrenceville, seven grandchildren, and a number of great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
