Joyce Ann Reynolds, Obit (M)

Ms. Joyce Ann Reynolds age 70 of Trion, GA passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at her home.

Ms. Reynolds was born October 20, 1954, in Trion, GA to the late Walter Pleasant and Hester Faye Haney. She was employed at Mount Vernon Mills in the Spinning Room prior to her retirement. She enjoyed watching her favorite tv shows, cooking, playing with her dog Baby and most of all spending time with her family and friends.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Ann Haney, Jan Oliver and Doris Agnew; Grandparents, D.W. and Fannie Reynolds, Charlie and Savilla Haney.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Susan (Bob) Ponder, Sharon (Jason) Hughes; Grandchildren, Shawn Rehm, Jacob (Katie) Hughes, Edward (Lesley) Hughes, Dekoda (Crystal) Hendrix, Kimberly Hughes and Lela (Zach) Weeks; Great Grandchildren, Roza, Demetri, Rachel Rehm, Aurora, Hudson, Marina, Harmony, Jace Hughes and Harper Weeks; Siblings, Butch (Elaine) Haney, Sandra (Charles) Gentry, Margie (Pat) Miller and Ronnie Haney; Several Nieces and Nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Reynolds will take place Saturday August 30, 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Mason Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 noon until the service hour.

Terry Lane Adams, Obit (W)

MR. TERRY LANE ADAMS – Age 69, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, August 15, 2025. He was born on April 7, 1956 to the late Jesse Adams, Jr. and Kathrine June Lester Adams. He was preceded by his sister, Kathy Adams and brothers, Dwayne Douglas Adams and Jesse Jerome Adams. He graduated from Chattooga High School and for many years worked in construction. He loved cars and was a member of West Fifth Street Church of Christ.

Survivors are his daughters, April Adams of Atlanta, Georgia, Terri Adams of Villa Rica, GA, and Brandolynn Yarbrough of Carrollton, Georgia; grandchildren, Zaylen Cook, Porter Boykins, London Boykins of Villa Rica, GA, Ricky, Brandon, Jorge, Amariah Marenco, Divinity Yarbrough, great grandson, M. J. Marenco, Carrollton, GA; brother, Willie George Adams of Triangle, Virginia; sister, Jacqueline Griffin (David Fain) of Rome, Georgia; sister-in-law, Angela Adams of Summerville, GA; uncle, Harold Leon “Lee” Lester of Chattanooga, TN; special friends, Lucille Chain of Chattanooga, and Renee Mathis of Dalton, GA; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Homegoing Service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 2:00 P. M. at the Hwy 27 Church of Christ of Christ, Summerville, Georgia with Willie George Adams, Eulogist and Bro. L. D. Ludy, Officiant. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service. Interment at Summerville Cemetery.

MR. JAMES RUSSELL (JIM) OXFORD, JR., age 55, of Summerville, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly Monday, August 25, 2025. Born in Rome, Georgia on June 23, 1970, He w3as a son of the late James Russell Oxford, Sr. and Edna Elizabeth (Betsy) King Dellenbeck, who survives. Jim was a graduate of the University of Georgia and an Attorney in Rome.

MRS. HELEN LOUISE STAMPER POWELL- Age 83 of Summerville, Georgia transitioned peacefully while surrounded by her family on Saturday, August 23, 2025. She was born April 17, 1942 to the late Rev. James Dallas and Ester Mae Stamper Dallas. Mrs. Stamper retired from the Pennville Elementary School and Leroy Massey Elementary. She was a faithful member at Prospect Baptist Church. Besides her parents she was preceded by her Godly Mother, Emma B. Stamper, sisters, Mary Covington, Helen Young, Mary A. Stamper, brothers, Homer Stamper, and LeBron Dallas.

MS. ALICIA YOUNG- Age 41, Of Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, August 9, 2025. She was a graduate from Chattooga High School. Ms. Young was a member of the Christian faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willemina Loraine Finley and Lewis Farmer, grand parents, and other loving Aunts, and Uncles.

Survivors are her brother, Deweese Finley; Father, Lester Young; Aunts, Penny McCutchins, Janice Smith, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 5:00 P.M. at Finley Chapel Church Cemetery, Lyerly, Georgia.

Wayne Lloyd Cain, Obit (ER)

MR. WAYNE LLOYD CAIN, age 81, of Cloudland, Georgia, passed away Thursday morning, August 21, 2025, at his residence. A native of Atlanta, Georgia, He was born on April 24, 1944, to the late Joel Dewitt and Leonna Hazel Loy Cain. Mr. Cain was a Veteran of Viet Nam War serving in the U. S. Army, was retired carrier from the U. S. Postal Service, and was active in the Son’s of Confederate Veterans organization. In addition to Parents, He was preceded in death by brothers, Gene Cain, Ronnie Cain, and Jimmy Cain.

Surviving are His wife, Jackie Cain; daughters, Sherri (Michael) French and Amy Cain; sister, Carol Cain; Brother Tony (Robin) Cain; special friend, James Moore; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Helton officiating, interment in Greenhills Memory Garden. Active Pallbearers Brier Ingle, Phil Ingle, John Todd, Britt Todd, Joey Jones, and Michael French.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 1 until 2 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Son’s of Confederate Veterans will be Honor Guard. Shanklin-Attaway American Legion Post #5 of Rome, Georgia will render Military Honors at graveside.

Randal Wayne Burnette, Obit (C)

Mr. Randal Wayne Burnette, age 79 of Chickamauga, Georgia passed away Friday, August 22, 2025 at his residence.

Mr. Burnette was born in Valley Head, Alabama on October 17, 1945, son of the late Ruben Wilburn “Sock” Burnette and Helen Anis Smith Burnette. Randal was a draftsman and land surveyor for 40 years, and enjoyed gardening, wood carving, and spending time with his family and friends. He taught many men in his Masonic chapters around the Northwest Georgia area. Randal was a past master and member of the Crawfish Springs Lodge #300 F&AM, serving 25 years in the Order. He was a member of the York Rite, Charles Martel Commandry, Royal Arch Mason #099, Chickamauga Chapter, Grand Lodge of Georgia F&AM, Battlefield DL 764, Marquis De Lafayette DL #765, Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters of Georgia Council #024, J. Clifford Deck, Jr. Council #466, Grand Council of Allied Masonic Degrees of the United States of America and the Red Cross Constantine; the Order of the Eastern Star, Marthada Chapter #190 and Tilton Chapter #525, where he served as Worthy Patron Several Times. He will be missed by all that knew him.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Burnette was preceded in death by his grandparents, Antel and Alice Smith and William J. and Emma Burnette; sister, Christine “Tina” Tinker; and a brother, Lamar “Bubba” Burnette.

Mr. Burnette is survived by his wife of 57 ½ years, Barbara Burnette; sons and daughters-in-law, Reggie and Jennifer Burnette and Ricky and Kristi Burnette; grandchildren, Haley Bryant, Jonathan Burnette, Brooke(Kyle) Taylor and Evan(Terran) Burnette; great grandchildren, Levi Scott, Kyla Bryant, Anna Ray Taylor, Everleigh Taylor, Neyland Taylor and Stetson Burnette and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral and Masonic Rites for Mr. Burnette will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at 7:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. James Gibson officiating. Private Interment will be at a later date.

Mr. Danny Lee Fowler, age 59 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, August 21, 2025 in a Rome Hospital.

Danny was born in Lafayette, Georgia on May 12, 1966, son of Mary Catherine Manis Collins and the late Perry Fowler. He had been employed with H&R Sanitation. Danny loved playing video games, watching horror movies and dancing. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Tammy Sue Holcombe.

Danny is survived by his children, Latasha Fowler(Tony Parton), Betty Fowler, Chasity Holcombe(Dakota Pettigrew), and Dustin Walker; Mother, Mary Catherine Collins; sisters, Gail Collins(Jeffery Bryson) and Tersa Goodeen; brothers, Charles Fowler and Johnny Collins; and a number of nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Funeral Services for Danny will be held Friday, August 29, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Caleb Greene officiating. Interment will follow in the Howell Cemetery.

Mrs. Margie Lee Love, age 97 of Summerville, Georgia went home to be with the Lord Thursday, August 21, 2025 at her residence with her family by her side.

Mrs. Love was born in DeKalb County, Alabama on September 7, 1927, daughter of the late Leonard William Jones and Willie Pilcher Houser. She was retired from the Lafayette Healthcare and was a faithful member of the Pennville Community Church, where she was involved in several ministries. Mrs. Love was lovingly known as “The Cake Lady” for the delicious cakes she baked for many people throughout Summerville, Chattooga County and beyond. She was loved by all that knew her. Mrs. Love was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Mr. William “Bud” Love; mother, Willie Houser; sons, C.M. Love, Michael Love and Huey Bowden; brother and sister-in-law, Junior and Carol Jones; daughter-in-law, Jane Love; son-in-law, Wayne Dobbs; and a grandson-in-law, Ricky Burbol.

Mrs. Love is survived by her daughter, Linda Dobbs; two sons, Terry and Carolyn Wofford and Steve and LeAnn Love; daughter-in-law, Jeanie Love; grandchildren, Tony Dobbs, Kristy Burbol, Tracey and Jay Styles, Angela and Andy Galloway, Terry Wofford, Jr., Preston Wofford, Michael and KaCee Love and Megan and Matt Ward; 7 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; brothers-in-law, Winston Love and Ben Love; sister-in-law, Loice Tucker; two very special friends, Richard Lindsey and Jon Dennis; and special children, Dawn Wilson, Nancy and Bobby Ward and Bernadette and Danny Cooper; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Interment will follow in the Green Hills Memory Gardens. Mrs. Love’s pallbearers will be her grandsons, Terry Wofford, Preston Wofford, Michael Love, Channer Love, Andy Galloway; and her son, Steve Love. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kathy Ray, Janice Abernathy, Kathy Dillard, Jamey Coffman and the church family of Pennville Community Church.

Mrs. Yvonne Padgett Wigley age 84 of Trion, GA passed away Thursday, August 22, 2025 at her residence.

Mrs. Wigley was born April 4, 1941 in Trion, GA to the late John and Agnes Teems Padgett. She was retired from Mount Vernon Mills and was of the Christian faith. She enjoyed spending time with her family and she was an Elvis fan.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Wigley; son, Jason Wigley; and grandsons, Danny Johnson and Zachary Wright.

Survivors include her 3 daughters, Darlene Johnson, Madonna Wigley, and Denise Wright; sister, Teresa Noles; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Private family graveside and interment services will take place at West Hill Cemetery.
